Novelty Hill and Januik are two independent Washington wineries that share one state-of-the-art winery and destination tasting room in Woodinville — the two wineries have never merged. Januik Winery was founded in 1999 by Mike and Carolyn Januik, a husband-and-wife duo with a long history in the wine industry, while Novelty Hill was founded by the Alberg family. Winemaking is led by Mike Januik and his son Andrew Januik, who also crafts his own independent label, Andrew Januik Wines, at the same facility; across the three labels, the wines have earned more than 1,000 ratings of 90 points or higher. Together with a fantastic team of event planners and culinary pros, this family-driven destination will help create an unforgettable wedding experience. s the best wedding they had ever been to. NHJ set the stage for the richly romantic wedding of our dreams and we couldn't be more thankful to all of them.
The setting was perfect, we had the best of both worlds with interior spaces that had the warm and inviting charm of modern pacific northwest design and art (with views of the working winery!), and an outside that was a wild and lush garden party. We also loved how the trees brought in the magic of fall. NHJ was the perfect blend of my wife's modern style and my whimsical style. With the design, art, and plants, we only needed decor that highlighted the space itself!
We had a large wedding but never felt cramped thanks to the team transforming so many spaces into different venues--they even thought up so many cool ideas such as swapping the aisle for the reflecting pool area which created a dramatic aisle walk down, the fun bocce ball court for casual pre drinks and speeches on the stairwell, the beautiful maple tree garden as a romantic candle dinner, and the lower garden bursting with hydrangeas as the colorful dance floor. We even had the lower wine cellar turned into a kids room which allowed us to make sure everyone was included, while still making sure parents could escape for their own fun!
The food was elegant and rich. The team not only fed a huge crowd of people, but they fed them outstandingly well. We hid out in the treehouse room after our vows to enjoy appetizers and champagne for seven minutes (from that room we could watch all our guests enjoying happy hour which I highly recommend!). Every single bite was delicious and well thought out, our vegan friends raved about the care and thought the chefs put into their dishes. We loved that we were able to showcase PNW food (especially the local salmon) to those visiting!
The wine, of course, can’t be beat, and even though all our friends and family were fans before, they were all delighted to be drinking so well at a wedding! NHJ even had mulled wine for our guests which was one of the favorites of the evening!
The staff were absurdly kind--our guests mentioned many times how amazing everyone was, and as the brides we were so grateful for how cared for we were! One staff member, who was absolutely in charge of something else entirely, made sure we could have some hot chocolate since we couldn't manage to wade through the crowd to the vendor coffee cart! The staff also worked tirelessly with our numerous vendors, the attention to detail Liz and her team had working with so many people was outstanding--and all while showcasing their famous kindness all the way through the process! Having a venue that was so kind and so good to everyone made the day perfect.
Lastly, I can't finish this review without mentioning how much fun the process of wedding planning actually was because the winery team was as excited about the wedding as we were! We felt like we could trust so much of the process to the team because they were so creative and lovely--they made us feel like our event was one of a kind. The confidence we had in them took so much weight off our shoulders.
If you're looking for a venue you and your wedded partner will cheers to every time you remember, then NHJ is the place! We feel immensely lucky.

Every time we visited we felt at home and were even treated to impromptu tour and tasting of the barrel room! On the day of our wedding, we were met with an unexpected rain storm before dinner. The staff worked quickly to save our decorations and table settings. Despite being wet, they did an amazing job to turn over our table settings to provide the most romantic dinner setting. The culinary team is also top notch! Our guests raved about the food - it was absolutely delicious.

On the day of our wedding, the staff was professional and were so accommodating to my husband and I and to all of our guests. They are a very well-oiled machine. Not to mention the food is INCREDIBLE. With the kitchen in house you know the food is coming out hot and presented beautifully.

of the staff made us feel so welcome and truly made every visit feel special. Everything about the venue is beautiful and well-executed, but it's the exceptional service that really sets them apart.
The food is always incredible. Our guests are still talking about how delicious everything was, and we received so many compliments throughout the night. They even offered to make special plates for our guests with dietary restrictions and for our guests with mobility issues.
One of our favorite parts of the venue was having both the beautiful outdoor garden and the indoor event space. We loved being able to enjoy dinner outside before moving indoors for drinks and dancing. It truly gave us the best of both worlds and made for such a memorable evening. We can't recommend Novelty Hill-Januik enough. It was the perfect setting for our wedding, and we're so grateful to the entire team for making our day so special.

What truly set this experience apart was working with Maysanne, the venue coordinator. She is incredibly detail-oriented, organized, and genuinely thoughtful. From the beginning, her communication was clear and reassuring, and she made the planning process feel seamless and stress-free.
One moment that really stood out was during a wine tasting we did on our own time. We brought along two close friends, and even though Maysanne wasn’t present that day, she had prepped her team in advance to ensure we’d have a smooth, enjoyable tasting and that choosing our wedding wines would be easy. Her team had our wine packages printed and ready for us, which made it so helpful to take notes, compare options, and confidently make our selections while tasting. It may seem like a small detail, but it made a huge difference and spoke volumes about her thoughtfulness and preparation behind the scenes.
On our wedding day, everything ran flawlessly. Maysanne coordinated logistics effortlessly, worked seamlessly with our vendors, and kept the timeline on track without us ever needing to worry. Her calm presence and precision made the day feel easy and truly enjoyable.
Honestly, if Maysanne were a wedding planner, she would absolutely crush it. Even just coordinating the venue, she demonstrated an exceptional level of professionalism and care.

coordination and follow up, the team dig a fantastic job. Each interaction I had with a team member I left feeling heard and taken care of. We worked with Liz as our main contact and she did a wonderful job! Additionally, every member of the crew and wait staff was fantastic as well.
I also can’t leave out the culinary team, the food was incredible and the coordination out of the kitchen was perfect with all our meals being served hot and on time!
I would highly recommend NHJ as a venue for any who are interested!

The food was phenomenal — truly unforgettable. Our guests were talking about it for weeks afterward, and many still tell us it was the best wedding they’ve ever been to, hands down. The wine, of course, was equally amazing and added such a special touch to the entire experience.

Novelty Hill-Januik is a beautiful, modern venue both inside and out, and we were pleasantly surprised to discovery it had so many perks and services included - chef, wait staff, ...
tableware, menu printing, outdoor games, and more - which substantially elevated the experience for our guests. They had a number of menu options for flavorful Pacific Northwest fare, excellent wine selection and other snack potential throughout the day. Our guests loved the appetizers, dinner, and mini cupcakes for dessert! Based on the layout of the available spaces, our small wedding of around 40 felt appropriately-sized although much larger groups can be accommodated there. It was a relief to find a beautiful venue with package options for a small wedding, although it did limit our hours and access to the venue for getting ready and for our other vendors to set up. Working with Maysanne was a fantastic experience as she happily walked us through all of the options and gave us ideas for timing and layout. She and the other staff at the winery were highly responsive and welcoming for the entire planning and wedding day experience. Highly recommend!

and we are so thankful for Maysanne. The venue is absolutely beautiful and they also have everything you could want. The communication and professionalism was top notch the entire process. The day of our wedding there wasn’t anything they couldn’t take care of. One thing about this vendor is they have coordinators to recommend and that is something I didn’t think of, and I’m so glad they have you do that. My wedding day was completely stress free. Also one of the best things about this venue is the food. It’s been a few months and people still talk about the food. I love that there is a kitchen at the venue because the food is fresh, and the staff know everything they need to know about it, which is great especially for allergies. The venue itself is also gorgeous, we did all of our photos at the venue, which takes stress off for anyone because you have the choice to rent out the getting ready rooms, so you can do your photos right after getting ready. There are so many places to take photos. I can’t recommend this place enough! We also love that you can do wine tasting and have snacks beforehand so it was fun to show our parents the place months before the wedding. Our wedding date was June 20th and we’ll never forget how amazing it was here.

Her kindness, professionalism, and genuine desire for us to have an amazing experience was evident throughout the entire wedding process. Similarly, every single other staff member we met was incredibly helpful and gracious.
The venue itself was just the perfect vibe. Having our wedding in the fall meant all the plants and trees were on full display. Every part of the evening just flowed perfectly, in large part thanks to the layout of the venue. It was so fun having our guests go from one location to the next, each time getting to experience something new and fun. In addition, it was an awesome place for the groomsmen and bridesmaids to hang out and get ready earlier in the day.
We had all of our food and drinks done by the venue, and boy are we glad we did. We cannot wait to go back again just to have dinner because literally everything was delicious, it was one of the things our guests commented on the most.
Fortunately we didn't end up needing to worry about it... but the option to quickly switch to an indoor ceremony in the event of rain gave us peace of mind!
Altogether, we cannot recommend Novelty Hill - Januik Winery enough for any sort of event, wedding, or just a fun time out with friends. Thanks for making our day so special!

The getting ready areas were also spacious and there were plenty of amenities to make sure the day of was relaxing and stress-free. The food and wine was delicious throughout the night - we received lots of compliments from our guests - and Liz and the staff were wonderful to work with! ould all happen at the same venue, but there was a distinct location for each (we had ceremony outside under a canopy of trees, cocktail hour under a tent outside, dinner in the dining room, and dancing in the bar area). I liked how every event had its own location within the venue so we didn't have to do any turnover, but it was still very cohesive and intimate. The wine was obviously fantastic, and the food was incredible. Many guests commented that it was the best food they had ever had at a wedding. I personally was sad I didn't get to eat as much as I wanted on the day of (too busy greeting guests), but Laura set us up with to go boxes which we devoured later on.
The staff were very communicative and helpful. We met with Laura several times in person and she was very reachable by email. We used the recommended planner, Andrea, who was a godsend.
Bottom line, this is an incredible venue for a wedding. Many guests told us it was the best wedding venue they had been to before.

ressive and comfortable to our 80 guests. The architecture and flow of the rooms is amazing. I was plan-it-myself bride and I was so thankful for NHJ's inclusive wedding packages: all the little things from linens, glassware, to Glassybaby candles were included! I am so so thankful I didn't have to hunt for rentals of all those little things. At the same time, I never felt restricted to reach my wedding vision. The venue was very accommodating to all the little details or events I wanted to have included.
Most importantly the staff were wonderful- from the first tour to us leaving after the wedding, the hospitality, service and professionalism of everyone was impressive. It was very important to us that our guests were treated well and had a good, fun time.
Laura R., the Director of Event Sales/point of contact was a real pleasure to work with for 10 months while I planned. She was lightening fast in responding to all my questions, it really made my planning less stressful. We also worked with the site coordinator the day of the wedding and she was able to jump right in and was great!

gaged it was the obvious first pick for a wedding venue. The Northwest modern design of the venue is just perfect for a Seattle area wedding and fit the "classy, not pretentious" vibe I was going for. We chose orange and grey as our wedding colors as they were the most natural fit with the venues existing decor. Needless to say it all looked great. We got married on Labor Day, and got the Sunday pricing. Coupled with a special they were having earlier in the year, the price was just right and didn't break the bank.
Emily, the wedding coordinator, was just amazing to work with and had every detail absolutely covered. I was planning the wedding from the opposite side of the country and went out to visit a month before the wedding to go over some final details. My stress levels plummeted after that meeting as I knew Emily was on top of it and covered details I didn't even know existed. She also had a list of vendors they have worked with and that's how we found our DJ (Greg, from Affairs to Remember, total pro). Her and the staff were on point the entire night and made sure everything went smoothly. I have never been so relaxed at a wedding, and this one was my own!
We knew the wine was good, but were blown away by just how amazing their food was! All of our guests commented on how good it was and we ended up running out of quite a few things. I recommend the manchengo gougeres, they were delightful.
A couple of additional highlights:
- We did a mix of tables and tallboys, which worked really nicely. I didn't want to do a formal dinner or assigned seats, so we just had a few food stations set up. That worked really well, created a great conversational atmosphere.
- They provide most of the decor (sans flowers), and that includes a giant assortment of glassy babies.
- We had a bottle of sauvignon blanc and assorted non-alcoholic beverages in the bridal prep room - it was a nice touch.
- The pictures in the room where they store the wine barrels came out great.

1) The winery itself is gorgeous. It's modern and sophisticated but feels comfortable at that same time.
2) The events coordinator Emily is fantastic. She runs the show at Novelty Hill / Januik -- she is a miracle worker! She was so flexible and worked with our schedule (a number of times) since we were flying up from the bay area.
3) Our wedding night was flawless. She and the rest of the staff were pros and every tiny detail we wanted was executed perfectly. I never once thought about, "When will we do this?" or "Who is taking care of x?"
4) The food was excellent. When was the last time you could say that about wedding food? It's prepared in the open kitchen off the dining room. Our friends and family still rave about it.
5) The setting was beautiful. We were at ease the entire night and enjoyed every single moment. It was the easiest event I've ever planned and I have planned a lot of events.

od they've ever had at a wedding, it was quite expensive ($42/dozen of deviled eggs...). But the overall venue was exactly what I wanted, and I did not need to stress at all the day of.
The venue doesn't take a lot of decorating, as it has a personality of its own, so that helped keep cost down. I bought flowers from a farm, did all my own decorations other than that. But the venue decorated with their own things as well! We got to use their Glassy Babies that matched our colors really well. Through the entire process she got back to both us immediately, she was thinking ahead so the minute I had a question she had an answer. If I needed a suggestion or advice on a vendor they knew exactly what to do or who to call. The food was also excellent. They had the best filet mignon many people have ever tasted.
The day of the wedding went smoothly. We originally were supposed to have an outdoor ceremony but it started raining. The staff was able to move everything inside without a hitch and it looked gorgeous. They also added finishing touches that made the reception look beautiful.
