Jay & Jakayla are THEEE BESTTTT. The first time I heard of them I was honestly already sold & then when Jay emailed me back in less then an hour & was willing to hop on the phone immediately with me meant a lot. Not only are they super skilled at what they do - they are people who make you feel like you have known them for years. We set up an engagement shoot that I was actually a little nervous for. I`m not crazy comfortable in front of the camera actually my husband is lol but they both made me feel like a supermodel even though I am not lol. Family photos were stressful, to say the least, & I didn't hire a wedding planner or day of like I should have (shame on me) BUT Jay + Jakayla kept the structure for us even though it's not there job & they did not have to & things went amazing. Hands down our BEST investment thank you thank you, guys!!

Jay and Jakayla were amazing! From our engagement shoot to the day of the wedding - they were so on top of everything. It doesn't hurt that they have great senses of humor and kept me laughing the whole time. They listened to all my ideas for the day of and it shows in the pictures! I highly recommend working with them!

I highly recommend saving yourself the anxiety, and trust your wedding to any of the other more reputable photographers. This is your wedding, and once they day is over, those memories are gone. First, they emailed us two days before the wedding trying to say we'd only booked them for 6 hours. After attempting to get confirmation by both phone and email that we'd paid them for the full day they finally responded the day before saying we were "down wrong in the system." Then ONLY ONE of them showed up. Our photos were not what I would expect from a professional I had paid thousands of dollars. To be honest, I'm so grateful we didn't have an "unplugged" wedding because my guests got some better shots than our photographers. We don't have any group shots of the bridesmaids or groomsmen getting ready, just some of me getting in my dress. There is only one wide shot photo of our entire bridal party during the ceremony that is completely out of focus (only 6 on each side so not that big), I'm not in our first look photos- they're closeups of my husband, and the reception photos are TERRIBLE. They didn't take any photos of the room at large which was really beautiful, and the few photos they did take of the details (tablescape, dessert table, sweetheart table, etc) are either out of focus or blown out. A large portion of our reception photos are either this weird orange long exposure, unfocused, or overexposed and therefore virtually unusable. After all of that, when we asked for a refund, instead of trying to make it right with two very unhappy clients, we were instead accused of racial profiling, so...yeah.

I did not feel as though I had a great experience with The Rivers Photography & would not recommend them. I felt they were extremely unprofessional & I was so disappointed with the quality of work. I hired the pair of photographers for my wedding based on a recommendation & research. We had a Skype call with both of them before signing the contract & were under the impression that we were hiring 2 photographers. To my knowledge, at the time of deposit and signing of the contract, all packages advertised on their website included 2 photographers. The agreed upon duration was 6 hrs of photography service. I requested an additional hr before the ceremony for those special “getting ready images” & paid an additional $200 for that. Total payment for the package & additional hr coverage was completed 6 wks prior to the wedding. Less than 24 hours before the booked time, I received an email from Jakayla stating that her husband & 2nd photographer had pink eye & would not be at the wedding. The contract read that: “In the unlikely event of severe medical ... & other unforeseen emergencies, it may be necessary to retain an alternative photographer. The Rivers Photo will secure a replacement photographer of equal quality, willing to provide a similar package as chosen in this contract at the same tariff.” Although I didn’t consider pink eye a major medical emergency, I went with it knowing the contract promise. However, the 2nd photographer who The Rivers provided did not have her own camera & was not witnessed to take any photos by the guests, myself or my husband, although The Rivers state that they took video of her taking pictures. We did not get 2 angles of the ceremony & I feel many photographic opportunities were missed. On the wedding day, my bridesmaid received a text from Jakayla at approximately 2:45PM, 15 minutes prior to their scheduled arrival. Jakayla stated that they had been in an incident & the estimated time of arrival would be 4:30PM, the scheduled start time of the ceremony, & 1.5 hours after the agreed upon arrival time. The ceremony was delayed & guests had to wait in the heat for their arrival. When Jakayla arrived, she stated she would send us a free album for our troubles. After the wedding, I was extremely disappointed in memories that were not captured by a professional photographer due to their tardiness. The entire evening was rushed, including the photo sessions, as a direct result of their tardiness as we had to be out of the venue at 10PM. I initiated contact with the photographer for compensation for the missed opportunities & emotional distress. The Rivers Photography stated on October 11, that they would refund the extra hour monetary amount of $200. To this day, I have not received the $200 refund & the last communication I sent to the Rivers was on 11/10 to which I have not received a response. I also never received the photo album. One response from Jakayla was “Sorry you guys are unhappy but life happens & we made it work..." .Most photos received were of the reception, few from the questionnaire that I wanted & I felt they were uncentered & unfocused so much that I emailed them asking if these were the final edits. The Rivers life seemed to have “happened” on the one day I had been dreaming about since I was a little girl & planning for a year. I feel as though they treated my wedding unscrupulously & have been unprofessional in not responding or returning the money or sending an album.

My husband and I cannot say enough about how absolutely AMAZING it was working with TheRivers Photo!! From our engagement shoot to our wedding video and everything in between, each step was so much fun and the final product blew us away. Their work is so fantastic that our wedding was featured on TheKnot. We cannot express enough gratitude and love towards this epic duo, whose work speaks for itself in many ways. We want them to be our photographers for life! Haha. But seriously, working with this amazing team was the best decision ever. Thanks again!!

These two are pretty much like family to my entire friends and family now! We did not meet them until wedding day but I honestly felt like I already knew Jay & Jakayla for years once I met them! I was super nervous because I didn't want to do a first look ( I cry when I see my man hello ruined makeup plus I am a little more traditional at heart!) however on wedding day Jakayla noticed, asked me whats wrong & told me if that was all then screw the first look. I had it in my head that because of our timeline I just HAD to have the first look or my family formals would be horrible! She assured me that they can definitely do family formals after our portraits, that they got this because they know how to use light and boy where they right! I love how flexible they were and Jay really did teach my uncle actually how to wobble it was hilarious and they Seriously made my day 10 times better. The way they communicate even if sometimes she could not get back to me for a few days she explained why but most of my vendors would take weeks to respond back so the fact that they apologized for a two-day​ delay shows their heart. I AM IN LOVE WITH MY GALLERY AND EVEN THOUGH WE ONLY HUNG OUT ON OUR WEDDING DAY YOU GUYS ARE FAMILY!!!

The Rivers are AMAZING. Seriously. We met with them and talked for an hour and a half - about everything but photography Once we left that meeting, I immediately told my now husband that we HAD to have them photograph us. Jay and Jakayla take care of you. I mean who binge watches the Walking Dead just so he can be included in your conversations?!? (Jay you rock). You will not regret hiring these guys. They will make you laugh and they will capture you and your fiance perfectly.

From the moment I met Jay and Jakayla I knew they were our photographers. They made me feel so comfortable and we share a similar light hearted sense of humor. They are so down to earth, despite their immense talents. Jimmy and I are overjoyed with both our engagement session and our wedding photos!!!!!!!!! They captured everything and were by our sides the entire day. The colors and lighting were unbelievable. Our wedding party was big and they were so accommodating and patient. We kind of want to keep Jay and Jakayla all to ourselves, but we know we must share their greatness with everyone! Rewind to months and months ago, when we first met Jay and Jakayla - conversation flowed easily, and the more we spoke with them, the more and more excited we were to have them as our wedding photographers. Our engagement session was basically a morning filled with awesome music, dance moves, and jokes. So many jokes. A huge thanks to Jakayla for making me feel like the funniest person on earth. As if that wasn't a booster enough! Jakayla and Jay delivered our engagement photos so quickly! They were amazing! Everyone complimented the images and their dreamy feel. Fast forward to our wedding day, still being the funniest person ever, according to Jakayla, and having the time of my life. We were at ease, and despite the freezing temperatures, all of our memorable moments were captured. Our guests complimented at how sweet Jakayla was, and I was pretty much nodding the whole time "I know", like a proud mama. My little treasure! Our warriors delivered our sneak peek the very next day! Instead of taking the time to defrost, Jakayla shared BEAUTIFUL images of our special day, to which everyone raved about. I can not wait to see our full gallery and re-live that moment, all thanks to our dear friends, The Rivers. We love you guys!

My husband and I had the pleasure of working with The Rivers on our engagement and wedding day sessions. I cannot express the amount of gratitude we have for this dynamic duo as they have perfectly depicted our personalities through each photo. Not only do we have amazing candid and portrait shots, but most importantly we have great memories with Jay and Jakayla. Jay & Jakayla are seriously amazing. From the moment she messaged me back after I found their studio here on the knot it has been nothing but personable and warmhearted. Our wedding date changed last minute to a date that was the only weekend they had for their daughter and they sacrificed that time to capture our date. I really love them and they are part of our family now. Thank you guys for being fast to deliver, respond and be there for us! This wedding would have been not as memorable without them! My mom still keeps talking about how funny Jay was hahaha!

I decided to book The Rivers based on their photography style , I absolutely loved all the previous couples they had photographed, they seemed to capture "in the moment"emotion which was exactly what I was looking for. After we finished our engagement shoot we realized that we've never had so much fun taking pictures! Jakayla and Jay are so passionate about what they do that it really shows when you interact with them. They are fun, down to earth, flexible, but also very professional and their photos speak for themselves. The best part is that they are FAST no waiting months and months to receive your wedding pictures! Well, where can I even begin !!!! First off , my interaction with the rivers through brief interaction through emailing was delightful only because I felt as if I was actually speaking to them in person & getting all the information I needed was a breeze! It didn't take me long after meeting with Jay & Jakayla that I knew I wanted to book them! They were extremely laid back (my style) super adorable together , and made me feel as though all my wants would be taken care of on my BIG DAY! There was also an option to break the payments down for me which really helped me and my fiancé out a bunch since we 100% wanted to hire photographers for the wedding! During my "getting ready," ceremony, and reception, the Rivers were exceptional in the work that they delivered !! They also made sure to take pictures of specific things we wanted and ensured to sneak us out for our bride and groom shoot in a reasonable time to get back in and party! Don't look anywhere else this couple is the perfect duo for Photography !!! With Jays personality that can make anyone in the room laugh & Jakayla's eye for the DIVINE shots, you won't regret it ! - -

Every time I went to write this review I had to stop because there are just too many good things I want to say about Jay and Jakayla and not enough space. The pictures are absolutely incredible and they are just so much fun. I could rave about them all day. Thank you guys for making our wedding so incredibly special and for giving us some gorgeous memories to look back on.

I have NOTHING bad to say about Jakayla and Jay. From the minute we met with them, my fiance and I immediately knew that they were the ones. I mean Jay watched the season finale of Walking Dead just for us before our engagement session (and so he was included in our conversation about it). The turn around time for our photographs was unheard of and I couldn't be more in love with photographs if I tried. Seriously, if you're even thinking about a photographer HIRE THE RIVERS.

My fiancé and I recently had our engagements done by the rivers and we were SO happy with how they turned out!! Marcus and I have been doing long distance for about a year now, so I had to fly down to Florida for a quick weekend to see him and take our engagements. The Rivers were so kind and understanding about our situation of having a limited window of time. I was so impressed by how understanding they were and how filling they were to catering to our needs!! The experience of the shoot itself was SO FUN. I loved every second!! The Rivers were so easy to interact with and made the whole shoot feel so relaxed! I loved the vibe. The one thing I appreciated the most was how Jay would say 'move that piece of hair' or 'take a couple steps that way' and things like that. That to me, sets them apart from other photographers. Not to mention their turn around time. The very night we did the shoot, we got about four pictures as a sneak peek!!! And in less then 3 days we had ALL of our photos! I was so impressed! Loved our experince with The Rivers and highly recommend them.

I'm actually overdue for this review, but I'm a bit glad I waited because every interaction I have had with the Rivers since my wedding day has only made me love them more! The entire wedding experience for me was very new and somewhat frustrating since I had never even attended weddings before my own. Not knowing where to begin or how to go about things, I was so happy to have a photographer who not only thoroughly explained what to expect and what was required of me, but also answered any and all questions I had leading up to the big day. It was refreshing to know they were only a phone call away if I had a sudden worry or request! The wedding day itself was such a breeze with The Rivers, too! They showed up early to take any photos they could before the girls and I were ready, and they stayed by my husband and me from morning to evening. You couldn't even tell if they were tired by the end of the night (which after ten hours I'm sure you have to be)! They truly love what they do and only cared about my husband and I being happy with their work. Family photos were quick and easy, and the afterward photos of my husband and I before the reception were perfect. They were so prepared with where, when, and how they wanted to do the photos, I loved it! After the wedding day, we received our album of over 500 photos within two weeks! That alone will make any bride happy! I was extremely eager to see the photos, and I was so glad I didn't have to wait long to do so! My only complaint about this part was the platform that was used to send the pictures. However, I am only mentioning this because of how quickly The Rivers attended to my concerns; they actually redid my entire album on a new platform they recently began to use for weddings. It was nice to relive my wedding again the second time, especially since they added several photos I hadn't seen the first time! I can go on and on about them, but my favorite part of all is their attitude and dedication for what they do. They never had any complaints, and when they had concerns, they were able to easily communicate their thoughts with me. I am so, so glad I went with The Rivers for my wedding day. I don't think I could have had a better experience with anyone else. If you're looking for someone (or in this case, a couple) who will make your day a breeze with their professionalism, laid back attitude and sense of humor, and will take amazing photos all day with an incredible finished product, I promise you will not be disappointed with The Rivers!

Simply outstanding. Fast delivery, awesome chemistry my husband really got some good laughs in on his wedding day ( it was raining so it wasn't such a good day at the time) They just bring this uplifting mood to the scene. The Rivers were our only peace of ind during our wedding day! They helped us pick out our venue, dress & caterer. Anytime we needed them they were available. We got our images in one week from our wedding, like thats crazy!!!HIRE THEM!

Photos really aren't my thing and being the guy thats typcial but I really liked this couple from the moment we met them at starbucks. I actually liked how they insisted on meeting first even if it was just a Skype session. The husband of the team is a really fun dude and we ended up getting into really fun conversations so by the time we had the engagement session I actually didn't dread it. Afterwards they were down to go get some burgers and drinks and it made the whole experience even better. We loved every image we saw from the engagement session & then the wedding day was even better. My babe was freaking out since it was 1pm and the wedding was supposed to start at 2 and none of her girls were there due to traffic and Jakayla pulled her aside and gave her some pep talk that pulled her out of her funk and we used that time instead to do a first look & portraits & somehow in 15 minutes she got amazing getting ready pictures and the ceremony started on time. They were fun during the ceremony & took turns dancing with us for a song or two while the other photographed. I really enjoyed having them at our wedding & I would hire them if I were you. I don even write reviews but it is worth it to write this one for this couple.

Plannning your wedding when you don't have a lot of connections or knowledge of the area is not the easiest but theirs couple helped us find other vendors who cared about our day as much as they do! I was actually a rivers bride before they named themselves the rivers & I'm excited to be part of this history with them! From day one they always kept it straight with us but sweet and guided us into making choices that really enhanced our wedding day. The entire day Jakayla was ready to not only take amazing images for Me but she also bought her husband who was training to be a photographer at the time & he was the most hilarious thing ever! We got my husband cracking up and really smiling in his images because of J! My only regret or complaint is that I didn't book them for our engagement ( we didn't know them yet!) from working with one photographer to this couple they are incomparable & you should always go with The Rivers!!
