Gail at NY Wedding Dance was an absolutely incredible dance teacher that went above and beyond to ensure our wedding dance came out spectacular. From the onset of our outreach, Gai...
l was extremely responsive, thoughtful, knowledgeable, and accommodating and never made us feel stressed despite only having ~ a week to learn and practice our desired dance. Gail worked around both her and our busy schedules to allocate three teaching sessions for us, all while incorporating a few more challenging dance moves that we were interested in trying, and wove together a routine to our wedding song so perfectly. Gail made the experience of learning and practicing the dance so much fun, we were so shocked at how well we were able to pick it up under her guidance, especially being that we do not know any formal dances/routines. Gail recorded our routine during each session so we could watch it as a model for our practicing on our own leading up to the big day, which was instrumental to our peace of mind and ability to perfect the routine. During our last session Gail even had me strap on a fake dress so we could practice what it would feel like on the actual wedding day. Gail even gave us a certificate of completion at the end which was such a lovely surprises and added touch making it a wonderful memory for years to come. Do not hesitate to book Gail at NY Wedding Dance!
Gail was a fantasticccc teacher! My fiance and I did three 1.5 hour sessions with her, and we put together about 3 minutes of dancing together. She really built off our strengths, ...
was incredibly encouraging, took the time to give us very detailed and personalized feedback, and all the while made it truly fun! And an added bonus was how easy it was to schedule. Gail was always quick to respond to my questions about planning, and she is willing to work around your schedule to have sessions at night if needed. (My fiance works long hours so sometimes we had dance sessions at 8-9pm and Gail offered them even later if needed!) Gail also took videos of us, which she sent to us so we could watch and practice between sessions. I cannot speak highly enough of her dance classes. For anyone of any skill level, please check her out!
Working with Jacqueline was very straightforward and fun! She helped us choreograph our first dance and kept it super simple, as neither my husband and I are dancers in any sense o...
f the word. Our guests enjoyed our dance and we definitely wowed everyone with two lifts!
I think the best part about going to this dance studio over others was the convenience, privacy and the transparency. The studio is located not too far from where my husband works and where I go for my PT, so it was always an easy trip over. I also do like that lessons only happened with one couple at a time; I would never feel comfortable dancing with other people around.
And lastly I do appreciate Jacqueline’s transparency with how many lessons we needed. Originally, I had expected to need to pay for 8 lessons, as neither my husband or I are experienced dancers. But after the first lesson, Jacqueline told us that we’d probably only need 3 lessons max. That took off a chunk of what I thought we’d need to spend on dance lessons, which is pretty awesome!
I would definitely recommend this vendor for NYC-based couples.
Gail is a must do if you are an NYC based couple. Her multi-class package was a great distraction from the planning process-- not only a low stress way to prepare for our first dan...
ce but a really fun 'date night' activity leading up to the wedding. Our guests we're wowed by our dance (one to the point of tears!) and really made the night memorable. Thank you Gail!
Gail was amazing!! We had lots of ambitious ideas about lifts and jumps and she helped us learn them all. The guests were so impressed with the choreography. We also had so much fu...
n practicing at the dance lessons!
Gail was absolutely fantastic! We had an upbeat non-traditional song and she created a beautiful dance that showcased the unique aspects of our song and was totally us! She was so ...
kind and kept checking in along the way to make sure we were happy with everything we were doing and felt comfortable. She went above and beyond recording herself singing to our song to make sure we were prepared if our live band sounded different than the recording we had been practicing to. She helped us so much and our dance the day of our wedding went off without a hitch - we received SO MANY compliments on it.
Thank you Gail!
We are so happy we got to work with Gail for our wedding dance lessons. She is INCREDIBLE!!! Not only is she extremely professional and punctual, but she is so kind, easy going and...
fun to be around. My husband and I were both SOOO nervous going into it, as we had little professional dance background. But Gail always made us feel natural and confident, and she worked hard to create a dance we were so proud to do. On our special day, everyone commented how great the routine was. Gail truly went above and beyond - she would send us videos/pics of our dancing so we could watch, along with always working with us on schedule conflicts or anything we wanted her to take an extra look at. THANK YOU GAIL!!!!!!!!
My wife and I had SO much fun working with Gail! She is absolutely lovely and made us feel comfortable from the start (which we especially appreciate as an LGBT couple). When we ar...
rived to our first lesson, she had already listened to our song and was prepared with ideas. Scheduling was flexible and easy, and the studio space is great and convenient. We're so excited for our first dance at the wedding!
We got married in 2018, and last minute we decide to take a lesson. We had the pleasure to work with Gail, and I totally recommend taking a class to practice your first dance. An...
dy and I had a blast, so much so we came back for another lesson, and even practiced at home. It was nice to have an idea of what to do when all eyes are on you during the first dance. Such a fun experience with Gail! Thank you!
My fiance and I had a fantastic time with Gail. She was incredibly helpful and patient across our four lessons, and we truly could not have asked for a better experience or instruc...
tor. My fiance and I had so much fun and we now feel like the masters of the dance floor at all other weddings! Not only did Gail help us become more confident in our own wedding dance, but also genuinely helped us become pretty good dancers overall! We are so appreciative of her and this dance school!
Highly recommend! We took dance lessons with Andrew because we wanted to have a simple choreographed dance for our first dance (and didn't want to just stand there with our arms ar...
ound each other awkwardly swaying for two minutes). It was the best idea, and the most fun part about our wedding planning process (a very welcome break from all the other planning). We had never taken any dance lessons before, but Andrew did a great job easing us into the steps and building a wonderful choreo for our first dance. It was so much fun, and we will always remember our first dance!
We loved working with NY Wedding Dance! Neither my husband nor I had much dance experience, but Andrew choreographed a perfect dance for us that really wow'd our guests. We did si...
x lessons in the month leading up to the wedding and felt prepared. After each lesson Andrew recorded a video with helpful practice tips that we watched/used between lessons! The experience was a lot of fun!
Stine was awesome! She put together a great routine for us that was half slow and half hip hop. She listened to our needs, worked with our abilities and made adjustments as neede...
d. We got so many compliments on our routine and it's all thanks to her!
NY Wedding Dance is an amazing place to learn a full choreographed dance, just some basic moves, or something in between for your wedding. Since they specialize in wedding dance sp...
ecifically they really know how to nail this genre and on a limited schedule. Our amazing instructor Malachai made it look like we knew what we were doing on the dance floor—and that is saying something! He helped me and my husband prepare a choreographed but not-too-choreographed-looking first dance that looked fantastic with some awesome twirls and dips but that felt very comfortable and natural. Neither of us had any dance experience at all, and Malachai really helped us learn in ways that were easy to follow and to remember! We felt amazing about our dance at our wedding and we also had a lot of fun at the lessons along the way. Malachai and the other staff here are so warm and caring and it was always a pleasure to come in for our lessons. They're also great about scheduling at convenient times on nights and weekends. Highly recommend!
If you are looking to learn a choreographed dace for your wedding, look no further. We did 3 classes leading up to our wedding weekend and worked with Gail to perfect our first dan...
ce. She was so easy to work with, easy to schedule and overall just an absolute joy to learn from.
Our dance included some standard twirls as well as a few lifts (can't believe we did it) and we were truly stunned by our amazing performance. So happy we worked with NY Wedding Dance!
Stine was the best teacher ever!! She took the time to really teach us, didn't push us to go out of our comfort zones but also didn't let us leave looking stupid :-) She made each ...
lesson fun and we are looking for other events we can dance at just so we can go back to Stine. She was a true professional!! We would highly recommend her.

uctor, was perfect - she took into account all of our very specific requests and made us feel super comfortable. I can’t even imagine how our wedding day would have gone without her. Even if you don’t want anything fancy (which we didn’t), a lesson or two is very much worth it, just to feel good about dancing in front of a ton of people.
Could not be more pleased with NY Wedding Dance! We worked with Stine and had 6 lessons to learn our dance to Etta James - At Last. Not only did we learn a dance that "wowed" our...
guests but we had so much fun doing it. With the stresses of planning a wedding (nonetheless one in Chicago!), our dance lessons were always a welcomed recluse. We have so many nice memories to look back on. Stine was also incredible to work with; she was so accommodating and talented! We could not have been more pleased!
I took 2 lessons at NY Wedding Dance with my father for our dance, and 1 lesson with my now husband for our first dance.
I'm so glad we did! Stina (father/daughter instructor) and...
James (first dance instructor) made us feel very comfortable, and we learned a few moves that made us look like pros. Best of all, we had so much fun during the lessons!
For anyone looking to feel more comfortable during your dances, I highly recommend NY Wedding Dance! We received instruction and key notes that we could practice later. During the wedding, we could relax and enjoy!
Stine is amazing! My husband and I wanted to do something out of the norm and fun. We did modern dance and had a few lifts in the chorography which really wowed our guests. My husb...
and and I had a bit of dance and athletic background so we understand certain lifts wouldn't be great for everyone to learn or try but Stine's techniques made the learning process fun and as easy as possible. Her professionalism is outstanding. The studio was able to accommodate slight changes in schedule during a few times when we needed it and were always prompt to respond to any inquiries. I cannot stress enough how awesome Stine is with her creativity and powerful choreography. The final outcome was everything we wanted. Our first dance as husband and wife was unique, different and romantic. Would highly recommend this studio and Stine and can't wait to schedule other classes.
If I could give NY Wedding Dance 10 stars I would!!! Taking lessons with Stina was one of the most fun parts of planning our wedding. We made weekly dance lessons a date night and ...
a fun way to relax during the chaos of it all. Stina was able to perfectly choreograph a killer dance to our slightly unusual, 80s rock, wedding song and included all of the fun lifts and turns I was looking for - while making my not such a dancer husband feel comfortable and look great while doing it!
We tried one other studio before and it felt all wrong for us- we even question if dance lessons were worth it. But after seeing friends having fun and looking amazing during their first dance they told us about Stina at NY Wedding Dance we figured we would give it one more try. I cannot stress enough how much I recommended calling immediately and booking an appointment!!
Ps. She is super accommodating and works with your schedule for the crazy busy couple like us :)
NY Wedding Dance was great to work with. Just three weeks before the wedding we decided that we could use some dance classes and they were able to schedule 3 classes for us within ...
our short time frame. We are extremely happy that we took these classes, especially since we aren't the best dancers around! Definitely recommend them for anyone looking to add a little something to their first dance.
My husband and I can't say enough wonderful things about our experience at NY Wedding Dance. It was by far the best part of the entire wedding planning process.
First, what a gr...
eat date night idea! My then-fiance and I had so much fun learning to dance together. We challenged Jason with a non-traditional song ("White Dress" by Ben Rector) and he completely outdid himself. Over our 13 lessons together, Jason was able to incorporate all of the elements we wanted into the dance.
Second, our first dance ended up being absolutely amazing! We felt so confident walking into the ballroom at our reception and our guests can't stop raving about our dance. It was everything we had imagined and more.
Thank you to Jason and Gail at NY Wedding Dance- you've created such incredible memories for us that will last a lifetime!
Stine at NY Wedding Dance was a godsend for us! We zero to slim dance experience and in 10-12 lessons, Stine taught us two different dance routines for our wedding. Her patience ...
and creativity was like no other- we really loved working with her too. Our wedding guests loved our dances and we felt very confident the day of the wedding with our routines. NY Wedding Dance was super flexible with our schedule as well- they met on weekends and in the evenings on weekdays. The entire team at NY Wedding Dance is very polite and they were all eager to know of how we were progressing. I highly recommend them for your wedding event, it'll be one of the best highlights of your wedding!
I must say I was skeptical taking dance lessons but my now-husband really wanted to so I went along with it. I am so happy we did because not only did we have fun in the process bu...
t we had an incredible dance that our guests and our families go to see!
Stine was so patient and professional the entire time and I cannot believe how much we accomplished in 6 lessons! I am very happy with the package and the services!
My husband and I had such a blast taking dance lessons and learning our first dance for our wedding! We worked with Joey, who was really an incredible teacher - patient, creative,...
and energetic. We really looked forward to our weekly sessions. Joey choregraphed a few lifts for us to do within our dance, and we blew everyone away at the wedding - everyone was extremely impressed. We have received so many compliments on our first dance - they even said it was the best one they had ever seen! It was such a special experience, and something we will remember and look back on forever.
We bought a package of 6 one-on-one lessons and worked with Amy. She was great. We wanted to have a few moves for our first dance as husband and wife, but not be too flashy. And A...
my was able to help us! She customized the moves for us and made us feel comfortable. We even had some time for salsa at the end. I would highly recommend NY Wedding Dance.
My husband and I started going to NY Partner Dance through a groupon before we even got engaged - thought we'd give salsa a try. We instantly fell in love with our instructor, Joey...
, and decided to continue the lessons past the groupon term. When we got engaged 8 months later, we knew we had to use Joey to come up with an amazing first dance for us. We decided to start to learn West Coast swing and he, along with Andrew, a West Cost Swing dancer, helped us learn the dance moves we needed and compiled an AMAZING choreography for us on our wedding day. All of our guests were floored at our first dance and we had an amazing time performing it for them.
Joey and Andrew were very patient with us and had very unique ways of teaching the dances so that we could best understand how they are to be performed. They are both great at what they do and their amazing personalities make the experience that much better. The studio manager Gail is also sweet as can be and we loved talking to her before and after our weekly lessons.
This is a great place for couples to go if they really want to learn an awesome first dance, or if they just want to learn how to dance in general. We loved them before we got engaged and we'll definitely continue to go for lessons now that we're married!
We worked with Andrew and he turned us from novices to experts. The lessons were a ton of fun (and very romantic!) and our guests were AMAZED that we choreographed a routine and e...

e". Our dance instructor was Leslie Whitesell and she was very patient, professional and absolutely great! With Leslie's guidance and assistance, my husband and I successfully danced a beautiful first dance. Would definitely recommend to family and friends! So worth the time, money & effort!
We loved NY Wedding Dance. Not only did it make a really fun date night, but our teacher was excellent. We only had five lessons, but they managed to teach us how to do the Vienes...
e waltz (not easy!) and we actually looked very graceful at our wedding! We never felt like they were wasting our time or dragging lessons out- the pace was completely tailored to how quickly we learned the steps. They also videotaped us so we can see how we look and what we needed to improve. We want to go back just for fun now! Although we chose a traditional dance, NY Wedding Dance is also great at choreographing fun and unique dances.
This was one of our favorite parts of preparing for the wedding. It was a fantastic way to spend time together - and we were both so excited to learn the dance for our wedding. Les...
lie choreographed a fantastic dance for us, and provided excellent feedback during our sessions so we were prepared on our wedding day.
Alex and I worked with Amy on a partner hustle for our first dance. Alex claims to have two left feet but she nailed it on the big day. Amy was warm and fun and easy to be around. ...
she explained things with patience and we just loved working with her. she choreographed a routine that reflected our personalities and was entertaining to watch-it is a performance after all-who wants a boring first dance? finding a dance instructor who is comfortable when there are two brides was key. we couldn't be more pleased! :)
