Joshua David Samples is a multi-media artist specializing in floral sculptures, installations, and event production. He has lived and worked across the United States in Los Angeles, Chicago, Minneapolis, and is a native of Kentucky where he manages his idyllic Oak Hill Gardens. He recently attended the renowned Catherine Muller École de fleuriste in Paris and most recently the Space and Color Floral Design Workshop with Mikey Putnam in Seoul, South Korea.

Josh and his team at Oak Hill Gardens were absolutely incredible, and choosing them as our wedding venue was the best decision we could have made. From the very beginning, Josh listened closely to what my fiancé and I envisioned and supported us every step of the way, from food and florals to finding the perfect DJ, cake, desserts, and even hair and makeup. He was there for every decision, whether I wanted to include or skip something “traditional,” and guided us with his professional expertise to make sure our day reflected us.
On our wedding day, everything was beautiful, stress-free, and unforgettable. Josh and his team went above and beyond to make sure we were actually enjoying ourselves, they kept the day running smoothly, made sure we always had a drink in hand, and ensured we had the best time celebrating. The hospitality, professionalism, and overall atmosphere were beyond anything we could have hoped for.
I was most anxious about the florals and decorations because of how picky I can be but Josh understood exactly the floral vision and vibe I wanted and executed it perfectly. The food was outstanding, the desserts and cake were delicious, and we received countless compliments from our guests about how gorgeous the venue was and how excellent everything tasted.
We are so thankful to Oak Hill Gardens for giving us the wedding of our dreams. I could not have asked for a better venue or team to bring it all together, we truly love this place!

I couldn't imagine going with any other venue. Oak Hill Gardens was absolutely amazing and had us and our guests in awe. My husband and I are not planners and while we were ecstatic to get married we dreaded the planning and coordination. We cannot say enough positive things about Josh and his team, they truley went above and beyond. The food, cake, floral arrangements and coordination made the day a dream come true. The venue itself was amazing and the day was flawless. From a 2 tier cheesecake to butterflies at cocktail hour Josh and his team exceeded our expectations and gave us the perfect day
If I could do it all over I would choose Oak Hill Gardens again, no hesitation

Just had my daughter’s wedding there and I am still can’t get over how amazing the entire experience at Oak Hill Gardens was. With both families being either from Louisville or Lexington, we were trying to find a venue between the two, but honestly, nothing we visited even came close to what we saw when we visited Oak Hill. Talking with Josh, the owner, sealed the deal. He is such a genuinely kind person who really cares. He makes the entire planning experience such a joy and does his best to alleviate as much stress as possible. He was amazing at providing recommendations for vendors that the couples needed. My daughter gave him a general idea of the flower style that she wanted and trusted him to use his creative artistry to design the table designs and bouquets. We were not disappointed. We were absolutely blown away with how beautiful the tables looked with the stunning flowers. The bouquets far exceeded anything we imagined. Josh is a true artist. Our Pinterest boards can’t even compare to how beautiful everything turned out at Oak Hill Gardens! It was the most beautiful wedding I have ever seen. Everyone from Louisville, Lexington, and even a northern suburb of Chicago (if you know, you know), exclaimed that they had never been to a more beautiful wedding venue. Also, honorable mention for the fabulous bridal suite. If you forgot something, it’s probably in the bridal suite or Josh has it. The staff is amazing! They are very kind and always have a smile on their face.
Josh is a perfectionist, so he will run the rehearsal until the timing is just right and everyone knows exactly where to stand. This is great, because it made sure there were no problems during the ceremony. He also made sure that everyone was able to relax and have a great time. My EXTREMELY anxious daughter was able to relax and truly enjoy her wedding. She even cut loose, danced, and got into the pool. The entire wedding party and their significant others getting into the pool at the end of the night was the best way to top of a truly magical event!

My husband and I got married here in September and we have not stopped talking about our day since. Oak Hill Gardens is the most beautiful venue. What really stood out to us was how secluded the venue felt, giving it the most intimate feel. The bridal chalet and groomsmen lounge were also beautiful, comfortable, and spacious making me feel at ease the whole day. My husband loved that the groomsmen lounge had a bench and barbell as well as a PlayStation with video games at hand. The biggest sell for us was the owner, Josh. Josh truly made our dreams come to life. We gave Josh a few ideas of what we envisioned for our wedding and he made it come to life. Josh does it all from the flowers, coordinating, planning, etc (he even cut my veil for me and pinned up my rehearsal dinner dress when I realized it didn’t fit). Josh is top notch when it comes to anything wedding and will go above and beyond for any event.

Oak Hill Gardens was very helpful leading up to the wedding. If I had a question, Josh was very quick to answer it. I like that he had resources for us and was able to supply what we needed. It was a beautiful venue and we got so many compliments on it. However, my complaints are from the wedding weekend, the weekend that I should not have been stressed. Our rehearsal was at 5 on Friday. However, another wedding rehearsal was scheduled right after ours and they encroached on our time and started setting up. It made me feel like this was not my special day. They should’ve been scheduled for earlier in the day or at least 2 hours after mine. I felt like I was not the priority. This venue is expensive and it’s not right that I had to share an important part of my wedding weekend with someone else. On the wedding day, I barely saw Josh and then when asked (because no one was around to tell us when to do our grand entrance), we were told someone else was in charge. I also did not see that person very much either. I felt like things were not coordinated even though that is a big selling point of this venue. Unfortunately, we had to have a guest step in as coordinator and run things and to keep events moving. Another guest who had no idea what was going on even complimented her on her wedding planning skills. Another problem was things were not put out and left on the guest tables. I went to talk to some guests and noticed that the crayons and colorings sheets for kids were still at the table in the package. There was just a Kroger bag with the crayons sitting on the guest table. When looking at pictures, I noticed that the box for my cake flowers and the bag for our cutter was sitting at another guest table. Someone should have walked through and made sure everything was put away. They also forgot to put out the grooms cake so someone had to go ask about it and they started setting it up during dinner. The assistants also kept coming in while I was getting ready to ask questions. These were all questions that I have already answered and that Josh should’ve known the answer to. When we first booked, I was told that the men get ready on sight, I did not find out until the night before that they get ready somewhere else. I don’t have pictures of my husband getting ready because of this. I was also not informed when my husband was actually on site for our first look. My bridesmaids had to leave and go ask. Another thing is that after the confetti was thrown, they started cleaning it up. Guests were still there but now the walkway was wet with some puddles and my dress got wet. We were told that they would help pack things up from where we got ready but they did not and on a smaller note, he told us the night before that he would have champagne for us to drink while we got ready and we did not receive any. We also had a problem closing out the bar tab and had to come back the next morning. The card needs to be swiped twice but no one told my husband that and let him go without doing it. It’s a beautiful venue and leading up to the wedding, I had a lot of help. However, I was left disappointed with how things were ran the day of and I should not have been stressed when coordination is this venues selling point.

Oak Hill Gardens is a tropical paradise hidden in downtown London. Josh and his entire team made our day nothing short of perfect and tackled any little problem that came up effortlessly and with a smile on their faces. I sincerely wish I could get married once a year just to revisit this place more often. Josh provided the bartender, and she was fabulous, as well as decorating all the tables for us and also added little bits of decoration and additional florals where he saw fit. He has amazing taste and unbeatable hospitality. You're a fool if you don't want to get married here!

I hosted a bridal shower here for one of my best friends. The venue is by far the prettiest and most unique place in London or the surrounding areas. The landscape and waterfalls create a serene autmosphere. The staff is very accomodating and willing to work with you to make your vision become a reality. The area is so visually stunning, I did not have to do very much decorating. I love this place and the staff dearly. I could not be happier! I highly reccomend this for all events!
