I stopped in on a lark for a trunk show for my Mother-of-Groom dress a few months ago and ended up ordering a dress. I have to say I couldn't be happier with the entire process. Occasions is one of the few shops that carry plus size sample dresses so you are able to try on samples if you happen to be plus size. Gail is awesome and made the whole experience so enjoyable and effortless.

Gail is awesome!!! I have bought my youngest daughter's prom gowns here and my oldest daughter's wedding gown here. Now I bought my wedding gown and all my bridesmaids gowns here. Occasions is the best place to go!!! I highly recommend going there!!!!

I can be very indecisive, I went to many wedding shops and had a lot of dresses that looked good but could not find any that had everything i wanted in one dress. Gail was the only wedding dress shop in the area that let you customize the dress, which opened up a whole new world. I had tried on one dress which was nice but still didn't quite fall in love, then we started talking about adding beading and buttons and trim and all the sudden i could see the dress turning into what I was thinking. It was a fun process being able to customize the dress and i can truly say i had a one of kind dress. It was perfect for our beach wedding and I received so many compliments on how perfect the dress was for me. Even better is that even with all the additions, it was still affordable.

Can't say enough wonderful things about this cute and quaint dress shop. Gail (owner) is such a sweetheart and she will work with you to create your perfect dress....whether shes adding on beading, or just adding finishing touches! My wedding dress ended up being the very 1st dress I tried on :) you must visit this shop :)

Gail was amazing!! So helpful throughout the entire process. One of the best dress shops I have been to. The selection of dresses is not overwhelming like other stores which helped me out a lot. There is a dress that fits every style, but not 100000 dresses to make you more confused and stressed. At larger stores like David's Bridal I would just get more confused and did not really have that feeling like they were really trying to help me pick what I really wanted, but rather just wanted to make a sale. The one thing I liked was how Gail really made you feel at home and was super personable and remembered you every time you came in/called. She is also honest and will tell you what styles may work best with your body type. I hated how some stores told you a dress looked amazing, when in reality it was one of the worst style dresses you try on! The last thing you need it someone lying to you throughout a process that may already be stressful. What I thought would be one of the most stressful parts of wedding planning was actually the most fun and relaxing because of Gail. I am so happy that I went to Occasions for my wedding dress AND bridesmaid dresses AND mother of the bride dress :) She has styles that worked for everything! I would recommend that every bride at least stop by to see what they have to offer. You will not be disappointed!!! Even if you are from out of state, make the trip :) A friend of mine that is getting married in October made the trip from NYC and ended up getting her bridesmaids dresses there as well. She also raved about how great Occasions is!

Gail was such a sweetheart!!!!! This was the first dress shop I looked at and within an hour I had my dress. I spent WAY under budget. My dress was one they designed. It was comfortable and I could dance in it (we did a choreographed dance). I got so many compliments and I did not spent a fortune on it. I forgot my shoes once at my dress fitting and she let me borrow a similar shoe for the fitting (tailor is across the street). I highly recommend Occasions. There is something for every budget. My mom even found her mother of the bride dress there! My mother in law spent more on her dress than I spent on my dress, veil, shoes, alterations and additions to my dress combined. It was insane. I'm SO BEYOND THRILLED. I loved my dress so much and it was very meaningful because I was able to add beads from my mother's wedding dress and put my late cousin's initials in blue in the back inside of my dress. The affordability let me be able to do this. YOU MUST check out Occasions!

Went in completely optimistic and excited only to leave completely disgusted and frustrated by the lack of customer service and attention I received from Gail the owner. I made an appointment, traveled 45 minutes, and was not satisfied at all. After explaining what I wanted she put me in everything but, and left me standing in the block with the dress's underskirts twisted and bunched, giving way to bunches and bulges, and didn't seem to care at all. We were not allowed to take pictures for reference, and she had a personal visitor during my appointment, leaving me to dress and undress myself!. these dresses are heavy ladies.!After struggling out of dresses and becoming completely disgusted and feeling completely uncared about, myself and my mother walked out, without Gail or her other staff woman even knowing we were leaving, she cared not one bit about getting my business, even though she has the dress I want. I will go out of state to purchase, she will make no money off of me. Completely unprofessional and wouldn't Even recommend to my worst enemy.

Gail is absolutely amazing. I went with my mom to browse wedding gowns with no intentions of getting a dress and I ended up falling in love with a dress that day- this dress is my ultimate Pinterest dream come to life! Gail made my experience fun and and easy with her calm and gentle personality. She was very patient with me when I had trouble deciding on a color (who knew there are different shades of white- I sure didn't). Both Gail and Liz (another team member at Occasions) let me come to the decision on my own but were able to offer great tips and advise along the way. I couldn't he happier with my decision to my get my dress at occasions, I feel like I've made a great friend in Gail look forward to continuing to work with Gail and her team throughout the rest of my wedding planning process.

Gail made my wedding dress buying exciting and easy! Everyone was raving about how gorgeous my dress/veil were! She recommended a fantastic place to have it altered and it came out beautiful!

I absolutely hate leaving a bad review but the only good experience I had at Occasions was actually picking out my dress. For a small boutique they had a nice selection (enough but not too much to overwhelm) and the staff was friendly, helpful, and patient while I made my decision. Everything went downhill after that. I picked out my dress in late February for my September wedding, and they said they would need to rush order my dress to get it in time (fine). I was planning my wedding long-distance and would need to fly back for my fitting, so I set up an appointment with them in May and called them twice on the phone to confirm the appointment date/time AND to confirm that the dress would indeed be there due to the rush order (the second phone call was a week prior and I was assured the dress was already there). When I arrived for the fitting, the dress had NOT arrived and they were incredibly unapologetic and unhelpful about it. They looked at their files again and noticed they wrote down the wrong month for the dress to arrive, which they'd failed to notice both times I'd called to confirm its arrival for my appointment. Despite their error in the shipping date AND telling me they had received the dress when they hadn't, they were barely apologetic to me and their way of remedying the situation was to tell me that they would accommodate a last-minute appointment as soon as the dress arrived. When I reminded them that I had flown up for the fitting and would not be able to come in again, they again barely offered any remorse and no reduction in price. When the dress finally came in my mother had to pick it up for me and I had it fitted and tailored elsewhere. I understand that mistakes happen, but it was their unapologetic attitude in recognizing or attempting to alleviate their mistake that absolutely astounded me. I expected to be treated with more respect and I would not recommend them to anyone.

My first few attempts at wedding dress shopping were not the best. I am a size 14 which makes me a plus sized bride and most dress shops do not carry sample sizes that fit. It was disheartening as I did not want to travel out of state to find a gown. Also I did not want a strapless gown so my choices were very limited. Until I found Gail's store. She specializes in plus sizes and had many for me to try. She is also a pattern maker by trade and her seamstress Martha was amazing. She was able to make lace sleeves for my dress and worked with me over a period of months to make sure my dress was exactly how I wanted it. I loved my wedding dress and felt absolutely gorgeous on my wedding day thanks to Gail and Martha!

it was wonderful to work with the ladies in the shop while selecting my gown, and my girls gowns. all the gowns arrived when they said they woul, and were beautiful!!! i will say it was a little trickier to get the same individual attention once the gowns were ordered. and I used my own seamstress.

I exhausted my dress search across CT. I just could not commit! When I came to Occasions, I thought I found the one-I was so elated. After I purchased and ordered it, my indecisive "Bride-Brain" took over and I called Occasions back immediately crying explaining I didn't want it anymore. She was more than accommodating and told me to come back on the specific day that they were getting new gowns in. I tried on new ones and then she saved the original dress for last. I put it back on and I was sold all over again. Her patience and caring demeanor helped guide me to my dream dress and what I really wanted. I appreciated it very much!

I found my dress the first day of looking because of Occasions' wide selection. The owner is wonderful and was a delight to do business with. The woman helping me had different style than I did, but listened to my opinion and helped me find the perfect dress. My dress was very affordable, and I was able to buy it off the rack. My ONLY complaint is that the store is a bit cramped and hot, especially when trying on big, heavy dresses. Also, the seamstress they recommended was not the best. Other than that, I was very satisfied with my experience!

Beautiful gowns with excellent service. More of a personal experience than going to a chain bridal store. Quality gowns too.

Gale was amazing and helped my mother and I find amazing gowns. Her prices are extremely reasonable for designer gowns. The one I choose was the same price as one I had been looking at but not convinced about at David's. Gale was always there when we needed anything and helped facilitate the alterations process as well! Thank you so much!!!

I visited two dress shops during the search for my wedding dress. At Occasions I felt very comfortable and like I was their top priority. They let me try on as many dresses as I liked and were honest about how the dresses fit. Even though I didn't, it felt like I had brought my family with me. Occasions had a huge variety of dresses and sample dresses for plus sizes (which was one of my fears going wedding dress shopping as a bridal size 16). I would definitely recommend Occasions to any kind of bride; traditional or offbeat.

I found my dress at Occasions after only trying on 4-5. I had no idea what I was looking for, so Gail let me pick out a bunch a different styles. After about 40 minutes, I found the one that looked and fitted amazingly. And the best part? It was only $700! The shop is small but they do have a great range of styles and designers, and Gail is so easy to work with and offers honest opinions (but is still sweet as can be!) As for the seamstress across the street, she altered my dress as well as my mothers and they both came out beautfully! And she was inexpensive. During prom season, I recommend going as early in the morning as possible, it gets quite cramped in there!

I made the huge mistake of shopping here for my mother-of-the bride dress for my daughter's wedding. They ordered the dress 2 sizes too large. The salesperson who gave me the dress when it came in assured me it would be no big deal to get it altered properly. I went to the seamstress they refer customers to; her shop is across the street. What a nightmare. I made multiple trips to her shop and she was never, ever, able to get it right. The final straw was when she gave me the dress with the zipper installed so that one side was 1/4 inch higher than the other. That's just the tip of the iceberg, she really butchered the dress. I ended up finding a different seamstress who miraculously repaired all of the damage just in time for the wedding. I would never, ever shop at this place again; they never should have ordered the dress the way they did, and their seamstress is a hack.

I has spent weeks trying on so many dresses I lost track of the count. I made an appointment to go to occasions bridal and met with Gail. She was very helpful and patient while I tried on several dresses. As soon as I put on the 2nd to last dress I had picked out I knew it was "the one". I didn't have a lot of time between when I bought the dress and my wedding, but Gail worked with me to rush order the dress. I was shocked at how quickly I got the phone call that my dress was in. I had the alterations done right across the street from the shop, which made it very convenient. Everything worked out well and my dress fit perfectly.

I was very happy w/ the gown I selected from Occasions. I was a little hesitant when I stepped in the door b/c it certainly wasn't the fanciest dress shop I visited. The people were very nice, & I felt like I really got a personal touch. The dress I bought was very affordable. Best of all, I ordered my dress in Feb. for my Aug. wedding. At the time I placed my order I was told the dress would arrive in June, but I got a call in mid-April saying that it had come in. Should have had my maids get their dresses through this shop too, they were down to the wire w/ the shop they ordered from.

Occasions was amazing! I had been to many dress shops, and was feeling discouraged by the time I walked through the door. But Gail and Nina at Occasions were so helpful. Nina helped me to try on a few dresses I had picked, but nothing was working! She pulled one out that I never would've tried, and that was it! She also picked out the perfect bridesmaids dresses. All of it was in the budget too! I saw the same exact dresses in their store for $100s of dollars less than other places. There is no reason NOT to get your dress here!

My sister found her gown at Occasions and therefore it was my first stop for dress shopping. My first, last and only! They have such a large selection, but our consultant was able to work with my vision and quickly found 'the one.' Whenever I stopped back in, to look at accessories, etc, they always remembered me and which gown I picked. Gayle is wonderful, she and her staff were always helpful, attentive, and a pleasure to work with.

I cannot say enough good things about Occasions and Gail, the owner. She let me in several times to try and re-try dresses and then ordered the dress in plenty of time for my wedding (months ahead). She had a line of dresses not available at other CT retailers, which I loved! She was very reassuring throughout the whole process. The only thing I would change is that there are no alterations on-site. She works with a seamstress a block or two away, which means carrying your dress over there and then calling Gail to come over if there are any questions.

It doesn't look like much on the outside, but stepping into the place, everyone is so helpful. Don't judge the place by the outside. Wedding dresses are in back and they will defiitely help you find the right one. They did with my first one.

I tried a number of different bridal shops before I found Occasions in Bethel. It was a bit of a hike to get to, but the trip was worth it. I found my dress here at an amazing price! All of the other dresses I tried on were also very reasonably priced. Gail, the owner, is very sweet and helpful. It was a pleasure working with this boutique

This little bridal boutique was great the owner was helpful and very involved she picked out dresses that she thought would like great on my body type. I ended up going with a dress i never would have given a second glance, but the owner insisted that I try it on and she was right it was the one my family and bridal party were in awe when i stepped out of the dressing room! My dress was very old hollywood not a standard wedding dress it was classic and elegant it determined the whole vintage theme of my wedding.

I thought they were very competent;They sold me a dress they shouldn't have!!
