Ocean Avenue Stompers

ere was never a dull moment and never a rest between songs. The song selection, arrangements, and overall vibe were like the best concert we've ever been to, but it was our wedding. A special shout out to their arrangements of Pink Pony Club and I Don’t Want to Go Home, learned for our wedding, and an absolutely ripping Tenth Avenue Freeze Out that doubled as both our entrance song and a big club hit at the end of the night. They even let me and my friends (we were all in a busking band in NZ), as well as my dad (an accomplished accordian player) join for a super jam! All night, we kept hearing from our guests how incredible the band was, and we have to agree! We closed the night with DJ Ian playing dance music for the final hour, with some help from the stompers horn section toward the end. Really can’t think of a better set or show, loved every second. And now we can go catch them on Mondays at R Bar to keep the party going!

felt so lucky to have them as part of our special day. We worked closely with Ian throughout the planning process, and he was always so accommodating. When we were still in the decision phase, Ian was happy to hop on calls to talk through our vision and explain what the Stompers could offer. After seeing them live, it was a no-brainer for us. The energy they bring every time they perform is contagious, and it guarantees an incredibly fun time. After signing our contract, we met two times before our wedding day. Ian also sent us a questionnaire to keep all our ideas and plans organized. Ian was great at communicating with us throughout the process – despite being very busy with shows almost every night – and made sure the band would deliver the kind of party we dreamed of for our wedding. My husband and I always enjoyed our calls and getting the chance to chat with Ian. We really couldn’t have had a more pleasant experience working with the Stompers. For our ceremony, we had three members of the band play, and they were amazing. Originally, we had only planned to have a guitarist, but after discussing the songs with Ian, he suggested adding the pianist and a trumpet player as well, which was a perfect combination. Ian then did a fantastic job DJ’ing and MC’ing our cocktail hour and dinner. Ian also worked closely with the venue to ensure the music flowed well through all the different spaces, which made a big difference. For the reception, we sent Ian a playlist with our general music vibe and right away he said he knew exactly what we were hoping for. We wanted the music to reflect the spirit of Asbury Park and steer clear of the typical wedding pop songs. The Stompers exceeded all expectations (which were already pretty high!). We had so much fun dancing the entire night and never left the dance floor because every song was one we wanted to hear. They kept the energy so high, making sure everyone, from our friends to our parents’ friends and family members, was having the best time. You could see it in the way all our guests were captivated by the band and smiling from ear to ear while watching them play. To this day, we are still getting compliments on the music and I’ve had many people tell me that next time we go to see the Stompers they want to come.
