2.5 stars... HIRE YOUR OWN WEDDING PLANNER IF YOU BOOK HERE!!! If you've toured this venue or have been here, you know it's a stunning location & that's their selling point. Aside ...from that, it was not the most pleasant experience. As an FYI, to no fault of their own, there is NO cell service in the Ocean Edge area - I struggled to get through to my vendors & bridal party on the wedding day because the service was so bad... not anyone's fault, just a heads up.
We were told that we'd be assigned a day-of coordinator for our wedding, I'm an event planner by trade, so I figured I'd be totally fine. That being said, we went through FOUR different coordinators in 12 months. As other reviews mentioned, we did not receive notification that our planner quit, retired, etc. until weeks of unanswered emails and calls. I had to re-explain my run of show FOUR different times. My final coordinator was assigned to me less than a MONTH before my wedding date (she was also clearly overworked and was even working another wedding the same day as mine). Overall, staff did not make me feel special or like a priority. Please, please, please..... hire your own planner if you book here.
We weren't given the "day of coordinator's" cell phone number on our wedding weekend (I only had her email and office number), 20 minutes before the ceremony, she was nowhere to be found. We were told (by a previous coordinator) that we would have access to a private shuttle in the evening to help us with transportation pre and post ceremony, but instead, we (bride, mothers of the bride/groom, and bridesmaids) had to stand outside and wait 15+ minutes for a regularly routed shuttle bus to take me and my bridal party to the ceremony. The same issue occurred after the ceremony, we stood around with our photographer and videographer waiting for a shuttle to take us up to the lawn for photos, and it took so long we missed our window for additional pictures, and instead went right into the reception.
Our food tasting was great, but the food that was served during our reception was completely different than what we tried during our tasting. My husband and I did not even receive a "nice plate" on our wedding night, it was cold, bland, and really disappointing (not what you'd hope for your wedding night when you pay ~$200 per plate...).
There were an array of other things that went wrong for us, my brand new $150 bottle of perfume was stolen out of the bridal suite & after the staff "asked the front desk if it was turned in", they basically told us there was nothing they could do. They did not give the family of the bride a welcome bag (that I PAID EXTRA for them to hand out). They forgot to charge us for our rehearsal dinner that we also held on site, so we got hit with a $4000 bill MONTHS after we squared away the rest of the payments.... our experience just wasn't pleasant and in no way did they make our day/weekend feel special.
The location and convenience of Ocean Edge is amazing, but please do your research and hire your own planning person/team (preferably one that knows the venue & can guide you through the day).
