We waited until life settled down before writing this review because we wanted to reflect thoughtfully on our experience. The Ocean House has always been a special place for us, wh...
ich is why we chose it for our intimate wedding with just 15 guests. Unfortunately, the experience was disappointing from beginning to end.
When we became engaged, the Ocean House was the first and only venue we wanted. We chose the Bistro because we love the food and wanted our guests to order from the regular menu. We also reserved the Carousel Suite as a rain backup for our ceremony.
Planning quickly became frustrating. We had difficulty getting answers about our dinner reservation, and communication was poor throughout the entire process. We often had to follow up multiple times and rarely received callbacks. Months after booking, we were unexpectedly told our group would be required to order from a prix fixe menu. This was never disclosed when we made our reservation and completely changed our plans. We had guests with diabetes, others taking GLP-1 medications, and children, so the limited menu wasn’t appropriate. The ability to order from the Bistro menu was one of the main reasons we chose this venue.
We also requested an early check-in since our ceremony was scheduled for the same time as the standard 4:00 p.m. check-in. While they couldn’t guarantee it, they ultimately accommodated us about an hour and a half early, which we genuinely appreciated.
Unfortunately, our wedding dinner was a disaster. Our server was wonderful and clearly doing everything he could, but the kitchen and food runners were completely disorganized. Several guests received the wrong meals, my father’s steak was prepared incorrectly three times, and one of the children waited nearly two hours for dinner. Plates were dropped off without anyone knowing whose food was whose, and the entire meal took about two and a half hours.
As the bride, I never even ate my own dinner because I was so focused on making sure our guests were finally being served.
For a venue with the Ocean House’s reputation for hosting weddings and special events, we expected far better communication, planning, and execution. We truly wanted this day to reflect the wonderful experiences we’ve had there over the years. While we appreciate the early check-in accommodation and our excellent server, the overall experience left us incredibly disappointed. Sadly, what was once one of our favorite places is somewhere we don’t see ourselves returning.
BRIDES BEWARE! I recently had my wedding at the Ocean House and the management team (Events/Room Reservations) were terrible to work with and made my wedding seem as an inconvenien...
ce. I was told many times by staff that they are in the "business to make money" we almost canceled due to them double booking a weekend event after our contact was signed that left no available rooms for our guests. The day of there were several mistakes with ballroom setup including mixing up table assignments and getting the seating chart wrong for the head table ( they sat my husband and I at the wrong seats!) When we arrived at the hotel for the weekend they didn't even know a wedding was going on and thought we were part of the corporate event as well as calling my husband by the wrong name after several conversations with the front desk and our wedding coordinator. After the wedding weekend we had to coordinate picking up items from the wedding to which our wedding coordinator never responded and the billing department were sending us inaccurate bills for things that were not applicable. I am truly disappointed with the management and how they handled our wedding from start to finish. I would highly discourage anyone from having an event especially a wedding at the Ocean House as beautiful of a venue it is NOT WORTH the money or experience for such an important life event. I have talked to other brides who have been married at Ocean House or Weekapaug Inn (sister property) and they have all had similar experiences. Bottom line DON'T GET MARRIED AT THE OCEAN HOUSE!!!!!!
Our 2020 wedding at the Ocean House went amazing. We had to scale down from our original 150+ wedding to about 40 people due to COVID. Lauren at the Ocean House was helpful every s...
tep of the way and truly made it a fantastic experience. All guests felt safe, comfortable, and well fed!
This venue speaks for itself with its gorgeous views, impeccable service, and delicious food. Having our wedding at the Ocean House was an absolute dream. The team, especially Erin...
, were fantastic to work with and were willing to answer all of my questions (there were a lot!), meet with me as often as I needed, and create a truly custom experience. The Ocean House is one of a kind and a truly magical place to have a wedding
We chose Ocean House for our October wedding reception. The day was absolutely perfect, and was even more beautiful than we imagined! From start to finish Ocean House allowed us to...
customize our day - from the wines served, to each buffet item, to our decorations and beyond. It was truly a "one of a kind" experience. Prior to the wedding, we gave all of our day of items to the catering manager, who set everything up to perfection and allowed us to enjoy the day without worrying about a thing. I cannot say enough about Toni Scotto and the entire staff at Ocean House - they all went out of their way to make us feel special on our day and during our entire stay at Ocean House. The farm to table buffet was simply amazing. All of our guests commented that it was the best wedding food they had ever had. This was no surprise to us, as we frequently dine in the restaurant and on the terrace. We were lucky to have good weather to enjoy an outdoor cocktail hour. It was a bit chilly, so Toni set up 2 space heaters (that were still visually attractive), and cozy blankets were handed out to guests. My wedding party and I had an attendant who brought us all champagne and cocktail hour food, and the groom and I had a personal server during the reception. It was the "above and beyond" details like this that would make me recommend Ocean House without reservation. While it is undoubtedly the most pricey venue in the area, I have been to many other RI and CT wedding venues and must say that the cost of Ocean House it is well worth it. The quality far surpasses any wedding venue I have ever been to, and our guests agreed.
I recently had my wedding ceremony and reception at Ocean House, and cannot say enough good things about the experience. From the start when I first saw the venue, to the end when...
the band was packing up, every step of the way was flawlessly executed. Toni Scotto and her team are amazing, and I owe my perfect day to her (and some extremely fortuitous gorgeous fall weather!)
We held our rehearsal dinner in the Drawing Room at the Ocean House. Toni was our event coordinator and she did an excellent job of helping us plan for the perfect evening. The Oce...
an House is absolutely beautiful in every way, with the utmost in service and the best food around. They cater to your every need. I would definitely recommend Toni and the Ocean House for your event!

tone unturned. However, the planning process was a nightmare. They are a new venue and are still working out the kinks. The banquet manager is overworked and took forever to respond to questions. For the price of the venue you would expect five star service but it was nowhere close. Additionally, they gave away our room block mistakenly and made no apologies or attempts to rectify the situation. The planning process was very disappointing and actually tarnished some of the joy in planning our wedding; however, it was quickly forgotten by a truly magical wedding day.
The setting speaks for itself, yet still the service and informal perfection just tips this into a heavenly wedding venue. I have to call out the hair salon where I had my hair an...
d make up done on the day as being worth every penny.
It was difficult to contact people there initially, but the wedding ended up being put together beautifully and you can't beat the look of the place and its location near the ocean...
