ZERO STARS, DO NOT RECOMMEND TO STAY OR BOOK WEDDING SERVICES THROUGH OCEAN PLACE RESORT & SPA
Our stay at Ocean Place Resort & Spa was disappointing and unacceptable. All our guests, vendors, and ourselves were excited for the wedding weekend of August 24th , but it was plagued with several issues.
Guests complained of sand-covered floors, and two fire alarms the night before and morning of the wedding created chaos. No clear communication was provided, leaving everyone confused and uncomfortable. The conflicting reasons given for the alarms—from a kitchen fire to no emergency—were distressing and scary. This disrupted my sleep and schedule, causing delays with my photo and video sessions.
Our guest’s safe was broken, causing them to miss most of the bonfire dinner we paid for. One of our guest were locked out of their bathroom, told to "use a coin" to open it next time. Room service left doors open, towels were never provided, and guests felt unsafe.
My Wife’s hair and makeup team was sent to the wrong room, and no water was provided as promised in the contract. My WIFE who was getting married that day had to retrieve bottles from the front desk herself, and staff never followed up. The artists were also upset by the fire alarm disruptions, causing further delays to our wedding schedule.
At 2 am family members were frustrated when security was unavailable, leaving them locked out of a room that was required to set up for the wedding. There was also a room mix-up for our planner, despite confirming the correct setup in April. This issue wasn’t resolved until late at night, adding more stress.
Additionally, we have reached out to many upper management at Ocean place resort & spa about our frustrations and have yet to get a response from anyone. Advertising as a “resort” and a 4 star hotel and getting 1 star experience is an absolute shame. I can get better customer service and a better experience from a motel down the street.
Overall, this experience was far below expectations, especially given the high room rates. We CAN NOT recommend any services provided by Ocean Place Resort & Spa and will be reaching out to the Better Business Bureau, Consumer Affairs, Local fire department, and Attorney Generals Office. In addition we will be reaching out to all our wedding vendors to inform newly weds to STAY AWAY from Ocean Place Resort & Spa.

When my husband and I toured Ocean Place last year, we immediately knew this was where we wanted to host our wedding. Nancy was quick to respond to emails, direct with all the answers during the tour, and responsive with a quote and mockup contract within the following week.
Over the next 11 months that we planned our wedding Nancy was 10/10. We were able to talk to her by phone or email, never waited more than a business day for a response, and frequently heard from her with updates unprompted.
Two weeks before the wedding, we had a sit down meeting to go over every single detail with Nancy and no stone was unturned. She was prepared for every twist/turn, steered us in the right direction with any decisions we hadn’t yet made, and never felt like she was just “yes-ing” us she was always 100% honest and we loved that.
Wedding day, Nancy met me in the bridal room around 9 and was with me or my husband throughout the entire day/night. She was the last one who sent us through the door into our ceremony and then again into the reception.
Nancy is the #1 reason we would recommend Ocean Place.
Our cocktail hour was amazing, and our guests haven’t yet stopped talking about how great it was, we’re so glad!
Few complaints (which are very minor but don’t want to not include them): the bars ran out of fruit/garnishes towards the end of the night, as well as ran out of bud light for a while. They did add red stripe and twisted tea which we hadn’t originally planned for, which was nice of them. Lastly and this is our biggest complaint- our room layout was flipped from how we had originally planned for. Our parents were not on our side of the room by the sweetheart table but flipped and near the DJ. Again, all these things are minor in the grand scheme of it all- and our day was still amazing
From the moment we did our tour, we knew that this would be our venue. We were looking for a venue that was a one stop shop where we can have our ceremony, catering, bartenders, and reception in one place. The resort is pet friendly so that also helped when it came to where we can place our dog while we had the reception. Sara Myles, Nancy Zuckerman, Dawn Turbeville, Erika Owens, and the whole team at OP were great! We mostly worked with Sara and she was such a sweetheart and helped everything run as smoothly as she could. Sara is really great at her job and we couldn’t have asked for a better on-site coordinator.
The food was INCREDIBLE!! All of our guests were raving about just the cocktail hour and I kept on telling them, just you wait till you have the actual seated meal. Our guests also would tell us that they had the biggest piece of steak ever in their life at our wedding. We also had an after wedding morning buffet breakfast for our guests.
The only reason we couldn’t give them 5/5 was there was a misunderstanding regarding whether or not our dog could be part of our indoor ceremony. While they are a pet friendly venue, pets are not allowed in any of the indoor ballrooms due to the carpet and the corporate policy. While it was disappointing that our pup couldn’t be a part of our ceremony, Sara and Nancy worked hard to make sure she was in all the pet friendly spaces in the hotel when we took pictures. For the amount of things you get with this venue, the price is pretty reasonable. Getting married in the off season also doesn’t hurt to keep it more affordable. We definitely recommend booking with them!

I attended my first Wedding at Ocean Place when I was 6 years old, and that night I told my parents that someday I am going to get married here. As a Long Branch native, that beach in particular has always felt very special to me - an extension of my home - a place where I would spend the weekends with my parents.
On July 9th I got the wedding of my dreams in the place where I learned how to dream. I got to spend it with so many loved ones who travelled from near and far. My perfect day would not have been possible without the tireless effort from Nancy and her team. If I can think of what Nancy means to me it would be the “fairy godmother” of my wedding. In our meetings with her, Nancy helped us: decide on a space, pick vendors, and deal with an unpredictable head count as a result of the pandemic. She made sure we submitted the appropriate insurance paperwork, and even helped design the layouts for our Sangeet and Reception. She even filed paperwork with the city so that I could enter on a more central part of the beach (so that my feet would not burn on the hot sand). Closer to the wedding Nancy was instrumental in re-purposing funds towards a private suite and a bonfire after our Sangeet (which was a huge hit).
Nancy is not only someone who is organized and hardworking, she is the person who will be there hugging you before you walk down the aisle or crying while you practice your first dance. This is simply how much she cares. I got my fairytale beach wedding, and during the sangeet, ceremony, and reception I felt relaxed and happy. Ultimately that was because I knew Nancy was there to stand by my side and to make sure I had the event of a lifetime.
Ocean Place was the perfect backdrop for our NJ beach wedding. Sara and Nancy were incredible throughout the planning process. Sara was so great in planning and executing the details of the event - she was instrumental in helping us coordinate with the chef to put together an event menu that was able to accommodate multiple food restrictions - and had everyone complimenting the food all night.
The event staff and our maitre'd were also wonderful to work with the day-of. They made sure everyone was well taken care of - including myself and my new husband! They made sure we were being fed throughout the night.
The venue itself was absolutely beautiful. We held our ceremony on the beach, cocktail hour on the outdoor patio, and reception in the ballroom overlooking the beach. It didn't feel like we were in NJ - it felt like we were at a beach resort in a more tropical location. The photos and event were absolutely beautiful and everyone had an amazing time.
My husband and I recently got married at Ocean Place and couldn’t be happier with our experience. Nancy was our coordinator and helped us out every step of the way from start to finish. We had a lot of random questions throughout the planning process and Nancy was always so quick to respond. She is an absolute boss at her job. We got married on the beach, had our cocktail hour in the ocean front room, and had our reception in the ballroom. Everything went seamlessly and we couldn’t have been happier. Ocean Place was a core place for one of our best memories ever! ❤️
My husband and I were lucky enough to work with Nancy and Sara for our wedding and we could not be happier with our experience at OP! The staff at OP was great and they were so accommodating to us and our guests. The food was amazing, the ceremony was perfect, and we loved the reception space and beautiful view of the ocean! We are really looking forward to celebrating our one year anniversary at OP!

Highly recommend having your event at Ocean Place Resort & Spa! We looked at several venues and this one stuck out to us especially because of its location. The property is beachfront and you have the option to have your event on their outdoor terrace in the back or directly on the beach. The staff was very friendly and great to work with! They understood our needs and worked hard to successfully plan our big day. Our big day went smoothly during CO-VID and the staff did a great job at keeping it clean and following protocol. Our guests thoroughly enjoyed all of our events and we will definitely be holding many more events there in the future!
Words can't express the debt of gratitude we owe to Nancy Zuckerman, Kelly Hipko, and the entire Ocean Place Resort & Spa catering staff. I've never seen a staff so eager to accommodate their clients. They were willing to go above and beyond to make my wife and I's big day special! And it was the wedding of our dreams! They really wanted the best day for us, and their efforts spoke volumes. I would enthusiastically recommend them to anyone. Especially considering all the challenges and circumstances of the year, I'm glad we had Ocean Place -- they are THE BEST!
We booked at Ocean Place very last minute because of COVID. We were fortunate they had our date! We were able to hold our ceremony and reception outdoors, which was important to us. We loved that our guests were able to stay in the hotel after the wedding, convenience is huge for us! Everyone raved about their experience at our wedding, which is all we could hope for! The food, drinks, and service were great. We are so happy Ocean Place could turn out a wedding in 1 month. Thank you again for everything!
Ocean Place Resort & Spa...what an amazing experience. My wife and I got married in September and relied on Nancy and Kelly for our special day. They went above and beyond expectations, created such a loving and warm atmosphere, and were both so attentive to everyone's needs. Whether it was responding to an email or finding the nearest glass of champagne, Nancy, Kelly, and the entire staff were extraordinary. The resort is beautiful, right on the beach (with palm trees in Jersey!) Everything you need is right at your fingertips when you book with Ocean Place.
We had an amazing wedding here, and words can’t describe how happy we were to choose this venue. The staff including Kelly, Sofia and Dawn were extremely helpful, rooms were great, the spa was very nice and the guests loved the food especially the chicken, tuna, macaroons. Kelly helped us so much with wedding planning and she always answered our emails and questions, and she was very supportive when we made the tough decision to move the wedding ceremony indoors because of the rainy weather. We would recommend this venue for weddings 100% and it was perfect.
From the first time my now, husband and I walked in to the Ocean Place Resort & Spa, we were convinced that this was going to be our wedding venue. From the beginning to the end, the Ocean Place staff were a pleasure to work with. We worked closely with Berkeley and she was absolutely fantastic! She was pleasant, informative, patient, and accessible. She gave us great suggestions for locations of our baraat, cocktail hour, and after party. She constantly communicated with me to reassure me that all was going according to plan. She took care of all the detailed planning with the designated person(s) at the venue herself. We were blown away with the details and how everything came together. The staff onsite on the weekend of our wedding were incredibly kind and courteous – everyone treated you like family and as if you were on a resort of an island. The location of the venue is also nearby other restaurants, bars, and stores if needed. Our guests enjoyed this aspect a lot! The ambiance of the venue is beautiful but can also accommodate all age groups – ocean view restaurant, tiki bar, open pool, life size chess, a beach, and a spa. The banquet halls range in size so it can accommodate any size event. Our family and friends are still complimenting on the venue and are looking into hosting their future functions there. I would certainly recommend the venue especially if you are looking for a “destination wedding vibe” yet close to home.

It's taken a month to write this review because we just haven't been able to find the words that adequately express how perfect everything was. We opted for a ceremony on the beautiful brick patio. It was private yet had the incredible beach views we wanted. The cocktail hour had the same spectacular views and our guests have not stopped talking about how fabulous the food was both at the cocktail hour and the reception.
Words can't begin to describe how wonderful the staff was to work with. Berkeley held our hand from start to finish. She is friendly and professional and her attention to detail made wedding planning a breeze. She was always available to offer suggestions/advice and answer any questions along the way. Thanks go to her assistant Kelly and of course Dawn-head of catering for all their help as well.
At all times they made us feel like we were the only event on their schedules.

Words cannot express the amazing experience we had at the Ocean Place Spa and Resort! Our beach wedding on September 22 was picture perfect!! A very special thank you must go to Brittany Radovanovic, our wedding coordinator who made what could have been a very stressful experience seamless! Her professionalism and personal attention was second to none. Her friendly and genuine demeanor and personality made us feel comfortable and confident with our decisions and choices. Everyone we dealt with was extremely accommodating throughout the entire process and every detail was worked out flawlesslessly The venue and atmosphere is absolutely beautiful and the accommodations were outstanding! L)Our ceremony took place on the beach with a beautiful brunch reception on the patio to follow. Many thanks to the team of professionals who contributed to our perfect day and helped make our dream wedding come true!!
We can’t say enough great things about the staff of Ocean Place! Everyone was so accompanying and our wedding went off without a hitch. Berkeley and Kelly were fantastic and kept everything running smoothly all day. Our maitre’d Kal was amazing and made sure we always had enough food and a cold drink all night long. The day was perfect, the venue is beautiful and the staff is so professional and friendly! Could not have asked for a better wedding day.
Our wedding day at Ocean Place was perfect! As posted by another reviewer, we knew as soon as we walked into the hotel that we found our wedding venue. Once we met with Kerri Speiser, Catering Director, we were sold. The entire day went flawlessly...although the weather was touch and go most of the day, the sun came out and we were able to have our ceremony on the beach as planned. We were also extremely lucky....the palm trees were planted the day before our wedding...a week before schedule. All of our guests raved about both the food and the service! One of my guests couldn't understand why anyone would have a destination wedding when the Ocean Place is right here in tri-state area. We also hosted a breakfast buffet the next day which was equally fabulous! Do not hesitate to plan your wedding here. You won't be disappointed!!
I cannot express enough how wonderful my wedding was at Ocean Place! Julianne was my event coordinator and was the sweetest and easiest to work with. She assured me that all I had to do was show up on my wedding day and she would take care of the rest. And let me say that’s what I did. She had everything handled and I honestly didn’t worry about a thing. Of course there are things that will happen that’s beyond your control, but Julianne and team did an amazing job and The day couldn’t have turned out more perfect! I wish i had the money to do it all over again!
Loved Ocean Place! Got married May 12, 2018 and the moment I walked through their doors I knew this was the place I wanted to get married it. Julianne is amazing anything you need she gets it right away. I wish she could’ve stayed the whole time for the reception cause when you talk to someone for a year about your day with the planning you feel like they’re part of it. Julianne definitely was wish she could’ve partied around with us for a bit. She even send a bottle of champagne and chocolate covered strawberries with a card which was a wonderful surprise. If I could do my wedding over it would still be here with Julianne. If your wondering where should you get married look no further do it at Ocean Place. Your guests don’t have to worry about driving or taking a cab or bus cause rooms are right upstairs. Guests only need to take an elevator to their room which made the cherry on top and my guests loved it.
Unfortunately, I would never recommend this venue to anyone. A few of my major turn offs were:
- I've worked with over 14 different coordinators (the turn around is unbelievable and no one speaks to one another)
-I was told one price for many things and the price always 'magically' went up
-I wasn't allowed to access my own things because they were 'tucked away in a back office'
-I was called the wrong name (on my own wedding bill email...)
The day of:
-I didn't get water the whole morning in the bridal ready room... and when I got it 2 hours before the wedding they wanted to charge us for it. WHAT?
-My bridal party and I bought a (cold) breakfast and there were flies all over the plates after a few hours. They were still there after 12am when my mother went to pick up her shoes.
-The 'bridal suite' was the worst room out of all of our guests staying there as well
-2 weeks later and I am still waiting on them to fix an overcharge for my rooms
We cannot say enough compliments about Kerri Spieser and our wedding team. Kerri was there along the way to help plan the wedding of my dreams and answer all of my crazy questions but also there every part of my wedding day to ensure it was all moving smoothly. Her interns did an amazing job as well. Also, she turned it over to the most amazing team during the reception who ensured that we got all the food we needed and endless drinks. Thank you all for making our wedding dreams come true! We knew from the second we walked into Ocean Place and met Kerri that it was the only place we wanted to get married. I never thought after our first venue visit that my fiancé and Maid of Honor would have said “we don’t even need to look anywhere else because this place is absolutely perfect”. The venue is beautiful! I had rain on my wedding day and was still blown away by their backup spaces which gave a full view of the beach and the ocean. Plenty of places for beautiful pictures both inside and outside of the venue.
My bridal party and immediate family also stayed there during the wedding weekend. The hotel was gorgeous and offered a ton of amenities that made our weekend absolutely perfect! Thank you so much for everything!
I could not agree more with Nicole T's review. Todd, as well as his boss Susan, are the definition of unprofessional and disorganized. However, the worst part about my experience was the feeling that I had been outright lied to. My wedding is scheduled for later this year, and in arranging for my room block at Ocean Place, I was told that I could have a one night minimum (instead of a two night minimum) on 11/3/18. My wedding was scheduled for 10/6/18. I then CHANGED MY WEDDING DATE to 11/3. When I called back to get the new contract for my block, updating the date to 11/3 and changing the two night minimum clause, no one had any recollection of telling me this. This fiasco went on for weeks until I finally gave up and blocked rooms at Bungalow. Bungalow is a beautiful space and, unlike Ocean Place, does not host conventions. In the end, it worked out for the best.
This is a review from our wedding. I have too much to write so I will get right into the issues:
There are more but this is all that would fit:
- Our food did not come until 4:52 in the bridal suite and we missed that 22 minutes with our photographer that we scheduled timing for. We asked for food for the two of us before the craziness of the night began.
- Numerous people told us food trays at buffet were empty and not refilled timely, people were waiting, slowing the line further. Trays should never be close to empty. (This is without a doubt the most embarrassing thing of all. We had to hear this from way too many people and that should not have even been a thought.)
- Buffet should have been on both sides of the dance floor as contracted and reviewed several times. We lost over 20 minutes of band time because of this.
- Event with steel drum music next to us was heard throughout the night, especially during parent dances and speeches. The parties should have been spread out and not only taken in consideration the convenience of the staff. This was never brought to our attention.
- The Jelly donuts we paid from another vendor for were not all put out on display. After the event we asked for them and were told there were not any leftover. At the breakfast buffet the next morning we are 99.9% certain they were served. We agree this sounds crazy and we don't want to believe it but had our friends taste them as well and these are not your normal jelly donuts that would be similar to any other.
A worker searched the kitchen for our wedding cake and after an hour brought out the wrong one, went back and thankfully had the correct one.
- Multiple guests saw bugs in their rooms, even on higher floors.
- Restrooms were not cleaned prior to the wedding. It still had wet floors of sand with empty toilet paper and no paper towels. My guests told us they used their own tissues.
- Lack of allowing late checkout for parents and brother of the bride. They were paying for the breakfast buffet in the Ocean Place and that is why we asked for an extended check out. Only to be denied.
After speaking with Gioia, the director of catering and convention services their offer was to give us a free night and dinner on our first anniversary. I was unhappy but willing to give it a chance. I would have liked to have a connection with the place we were married I tried to book a trip and spa service last week for my wife's birthday. I called Gioia not for any special treatment but to see if she could connect me with the appropriate person to book a package. In our conversation I mentioned next year and the free night with dinner. She immediately denied that was offered and stated we are under new management and there is no way that is a possibility. The best she can do is maybe a night in October or November not September in season and she was not even sure about that. I informed her if that cannot be resolved I would not be booking for my wife's birthday and would never return again. Needless to say we never heard back from her in that time frame.
I strongly encourage those considering a wedding to find somewhere that they actually care about your event and will take the time to make it special. I for one will unfortunately not go back and I hope they realize how they treat people in the future for what should be one of the most important days in someone's life. Not to mention one of the most expensive.
We just had our wedding at Ocean Place on 10/28/17. The venue was stunning and the whole day went perfectly! Every detail was planned out flawlessly and all of the staff were incredibly patient and accommodating with all of our wishes for the weekend. Most importantly, Gioia was absolutely fantastic to work with. She made my mom and I so comfortable throughout the whole planning process and the day went flawlessly. We could not have asked for a better coordinator or a nicer, more patient and accommodating person to help us with our special day. Thank you to Gioia and the Ocean Place for making our wedding dreams come true!
Our wedding ceremony and reception were both held on the beach on June 16th, 2017! It was beautiful celebration with each and every detail executed so perfectly by both Kerri, our catering manager, and Dawn, the banquet captain who over saw our cocktail hour and dinner. We began planning the wedding a year in advanced and Kerri was there for each and everyone of our needs. With the amount of stress a wedding can create, we are extremely thankful for all of the effort and follow through that Kerri and her team provided to create such a magnificent memory. All of our family and friends continue to talk about how amazing of an experience the celebration was! My husband also recounts how Dawn personally went on a hunt to find ginger beer in the midst of our reception just so he may enjoy his favorite mixed drink. The bon fire on the beach was a perfect addition, providing our guests with warmth as well as an amazing S'mores desert! We could not fathom a more perfect event, and Kerri, Dawn, and the rest of the Ocean Place team truly outdid themselves with exceptional professionalism and hospitality! Thank you for making a memorable life event the best it could ever be!
My husband and I had our Rehearsal Dinner at the Ocean Place Resort and Spa in August 2017 as a beach barbecue!
My in laws worked with Michelle who was absolutely fantastic from start to finish! The food was amazing! And the servers were phenomenal- even making special accommodations for my young cousin who kept dropping her burger in the sand. This was a perfect way to include all of our guests from out of town, and have a beautiful, fun, laid back, outdoor rehearsal dinner. We even brought some beach games for everyone to play as well.
The Ocean Place truly helped us put on an amazing, one of a kind rehearsal dinner, that our guests will be talking about for a long, long time.
Also, we had our bridal and groom ready rooms at the Ocean Place as well for our wedding day. The staff was so friendly and accommodating, and helped us start our day off perfectly!
Loved my wedding. Michelle, our host as well as the rest of the staff was wonderful. We have received many compliments about the food and desserts. Bartenders were wonderful and very accommodating. Although the room we stayed in was costly, it was very convenient. The staff brought all of our things up to the room as well as food for later that night. I would highly recommend Ocean Place for any venue.
Michelle was our coordinator for our daughter's wedding and everything went GREAT! Excellent communication, efficient and flexible service, great support, and a beautiful atmosphere. It was our daughter's dream wedding. Not a single hitch. Everything from the planning process through the reception went perfectly. We had the ceremony and reception here. We highly recommend this venue.
If you want a venue on the beach where you can host your ceremony, cocktail hour and reception this is the place for you. Ocean Place is beautiful inside and out. We had such an amazing wedding and couldn’t have asked for anything better. It was flawless! All of our guest raved about the amount and quality of food offered at cocktail hour and dinner. No one walked away hungry that is for sure. Kerri, our wedding coordinator, was amazing. She was very prompt answering all emails and sending over any paperwork we needed. She was also around all weekend was helped to organize the perfect wedding day. Dawn in catering was also great the day of the wedding. Kerri and Dawn make the perfect team! Thank you for everything.
*Note - Room blocks- like other reviews have stated we would also only give 1 star. In a matter of 5 months we went through 3 contacts. Our second contact was actually the most helpful and dependable guy. Details aside, if you plan to book at Ocean Place to be prepared that the room block reservations will give you the biggest headache. It seems over the years nothing has improved in that area.
Overall Ocean Place is a beautiful wedding venue with great staff and great views on the beach. We had such a prefect wedding weekend!
My husband and I hosted our wedding in July 2017.
-As a hotel: it's nice. The rooms are okay but clean. The common areas are very pretty. The staff are polite.
-Room blocks: I would give two stars. There were a few mistakes with reservations that had to be corrected via frequent phone calls.
What really made us angry and reconsider having our guests stay with ocean place was .... we knew 9 months beforehand we would need around 45 rooms total. We were told that once we block rooms, we are 100% financially responsible (you can not release rooms 30 days beforehand like you can at most other places). This is obviously hard to decide the number of rooms since it was 9 months before the wedding and we didn't know for sure who would come. Victoria V. advised us to block less rooms than we thought we needed so we would not be financially responsible if they did not get booked. So this is what we did.
Closer to the wedding date, we knew for sure we needed more rooms. They DOUBLED the price to almost $600/nigh. We contacted the manager and they wouldn't back down. Doesn't mater that we are spending tens of thousands of dollars at their facility, I guess they needed more. That was absolutely absurd.
-As a wedding venue: I would give ten stars if I could! Michelle Desalvo is an amazing planner and always polite! She helped us quickly with every issue during the year of planning, and stayed in close contact with us throughout the whole weekend of the wedding.
The Matre D' (Jen?) was also amazing!! She basically followed us around making sure that we (bride and groom) had food and drinks because we were so busy visiting with everyone. She fixed up big plates for us during the reception while we were busy talking/dancing. At the end of the night, she noticed that we did not eat much from our plates, and she packed big to-go boxes that she personally delivered to our room at the end of the night (as well as our gifts so we did not have to carry them). Many guests commented how beautiful the venue is, and how delicious the food is. The entire wedding was absolutely PERFECT and we would not change one single thing!! (Except maybe taking the time to sit down and enjoy the food!)
We had our wedding here in June 2017. The outdoor cocktail hour, the food, and the reception were all amazing! The staff is extremely courteous and helpful, and Kerri was great to work with. Everything went smoothly with no issue. Loved it!
The hunt for your wedding venue can be daunting but Ocean Place Resort and Spa had everything we dreamed of and more. If you're looking to get married on the beach, have hotel rooms on location for you and your guests, and have a reception hall that overlooks the ocean, this is your place! Two added bonuses: 1 - They are a pet-friendly resort, meaning Fido can stay with you and be a part of your beach ceremony (our English Bulldog was our ring bearer), and 2 - They import palm trees from Florida just ahead of summer, which gives the beach a nice, tropical vibe.
You can also arrange to have your rehearsal dinner on site, either outside with a bonfire or indoors at the resort's Seaview Restaurant. We opted for indoors since we had a smaller group, and I must say the food was absolutely delicious! A big thank you to Ann for helping us arrange the dinner and working with us on the menu!
I can't begin to thank Kerri enough for the amazing job she did as our wedding coordinator. She was very thorough and prompt with all of her responses, and was super accommodating. She made sure all of our needs were met leading up to the big day last July, and she, along with her team, decorated our beach ceremony and reception hall EXACTLY as I had envisioned it (I was a DIY bride so I created all of my centerpieces, table decorations, etc.).
I must also thank Kerri for letting me make the biggest decision ahead of walking down the aisle: Whether or not the ceremony would take place outside. The forecast that day called for rain – there was a 50% chance at the time she needed to make the call AND it was already drizzling. Rather than shutting down the idea completely, she allowed me to follow my gut and make the decision to keep the ceremony outdoors. And it worked out perfectly! The rain held up throughout the entire ceremony and my husband and I were able to keep our dream of getting married with our toes in the sand.
Our wedding was 11/4 at McCloone's Pier House- which was beyond amazing and fantastic! We wanted to block rooms at Ocean Place for our guests. We were told the following by Todd upon booking: we can always add to our room block and they would call if rooms were running short to give us a chance; we were responsible to pay for all the rooms in our block from the time we booked a year out even is someone canceled; our autistic niece would have an adjoining room so she and her sitter and parents would have access to each other; the bar would be open until 1 Am after our wedding; our brunch would be 19.95 a head and we would have a section of the dining room for our guests.
After booking: our reservation was seriously messed up about a dozen times shorting us rooms until we called higher up multiple times to fix it; they tried to put my autistic niece and her parents in a pet friendly room because it was all that was left adjoining; they booked the entire hotel and we couldn't add to our block with no notice given to us, of course they were able to find a few rooms that costed well above our block pricing; Todd was emphatic the bar would NOT remain open for the 75 people we were expecting even though the hotel was supposedly booked with a band playing; brunch was now 25.00 a head and no reserved space would be left for us, the dining room manager could also not be bothered to speak with us; and our guests were seriously on every floor and corner of the hotel. This place and Todd were total nightmares and the definition of unprofessional. Plus we paid 20 a head more after 2 people per room, and $40 of hotel amenity fees In addition to room cost and tax, and we were charged $2 a bag for our check in bags for guests. We SERIOUSLY LOVED ALL OF OUR VENDORS AND HAD A DREAM WEDDING; however, Todd and Ocean Place were the least professional, efficient, and accommodating business people I have ever encountered. Make the drive to stay somewhere else, they are the only show in town and know it.
I cannot say enough good things about this venue and the staff that made our wedding truly special. We had a rather elaborate and large Indian wedding (450+ people) that spanned over the course of the entire week and the staff was extremely accommodating! Our liaison, Kerri Speiser, was a pleasure to work with and really went out of her way to please us. The venue itself is beautiful as the new renovations really make the hotel feel luxurious. Our guest have not stopped raving about the hotel grounds. The only knock on Ocean Place is the price of the hotel rooms. After the added fees (resort fee, taxes, etc) each room was approximately $300/night which is asking a lot from our guests. Other than that, the entire experience was fantastic.
Our engagement party was held at Ocean Place this past June and it was amazing! We had a room over looking the ocean! What a view! The food was great and the staff was friendly. Working with Michelle to plan the event was super easy. She was very friendly and professional. She made sure everything flawless! We had an amazing party celebrating our engagement with our family and friends.
We had a wonderful experience working with Michelle DeSalvo as our catering sales manager (that is, our wedding coordinator!). She was extremely organized in helping us plan our reception -- very important because I was planning my NJ shore wedding from Massachusetts! Her goal is a flawless event, and indeed it was (on Aug. 27, 2016) -- she and her team were thoughtful, conscientious, and just really nice people.
My husband and I met on the beach so when it came time to plan our wedding we wanted a sunset ceremony followed by a great celebration. We went to the Ocean Place and completely fell in love with the facility, food and amazing staff. We had the privilege of working with Kerri Speiser and she was exceptional. The day of our wedding was nothing short of magical. I would highly recommend the Ocean Place to make anyone's wedding dreams come true!
We just had our wedding at Ocean Place on July 14th, 2016. It was spectacular and perfect! I know a lot of brides and grooms say that, however our beach wedding was exceptional. Our wedding coordinator, Gioia Petaccia, did an amazing job catering to all our needs and requests.
From our booking the venue to the actual wedding , Gioia, carried everything out with perfect precision. We opted for a New England lobster bake and raw bar and night time bonfire on their private beach for the reception. The food was excellent and the banquet manager and wait staff were great and delightful. The whole wedding went smoothly and Ocean Place hotel had ready rooms for the bridal and groom parties. My new bride and I are so pleased and highly recommend having your wedding there.
Thank you so much Gioia and the entire staff of Ocean Place hotel and spa. Our family and guests enjoyed every minute and the food and drinks. Totally high class!!

We had our wedding at Ocean Place Resort & Spa and we could not have picked a better place to have our wedding. We booked our venue about 3 months before our wedding, and even with the short amount of planning time we had, Michelle and the entire staff at Ocean Place were amazing! They answered all of our questions, were very accommodating, and made our day unforgettable. We decided to have a beach BBQ themed wedding on the sand in front of the hotel, and it was great! The food was absolutely AMAZING! All of our guests complimented the food and said it was the best food they had ever eaten at a wedding. Throughout the night, the staff was constantly checking up on us to make sure everything was ok, and if there was anything else we needed. An added bonus was having all the people who were walking on the Long Branch boardwalk, stop and watch our wedding reception, and congratulate us. We could not have asked for anything else and everyone at Ocean Place made our wedding unforgettable, we definitely recommend Ocean Place!!
What we had to go through to get the simplest things handled was ridiculous. Being the only larger hotel around, I guess they can get away with it. Charged way too much for off season when our wedding booked the majority of the hotel. Messed up our room blocks repeatedly. Didn't deliver all of the welcome bags we made to the rooms so some guests went without itineraries etc for the weekend. Not good.
I knew from the time I got engaged that I wanted to get married on the beach. As I didn't want an exact destination wedding, I thought it would be perfect harmony to unite my NJ roots with my love for the ocean & beach. I was sold when I saw Ocean Place in Long Branch, however, the rollercoaster my fiance and family went on was not enjoyable. Management must have cleaned house and we were not informed of the change until TWO months until the wedding. The coordinator who I had been working with for almost a year was gone and I wasn't informed until I sent a follow up email and received a phone call stating that so and so was no longer with OP. Our new coordinator helped us but that didn't happen until my dad stepped in to assist as I was having so many issues with the venue at this point. It was a beautiful wedding but the headache lasted right up until the wedding day as our final bill had a lot of hidden fees that were not clearly drawn out in the contract. As a result we are still paying this off when our plan had been to pay cash as went along and avoid heavy credit card bills. I also made welcome bags that were NOT passed out to my guests staying in our hotel block but they still charged me a fee to have them put in their rooms! One of my guests had to GO DOWN TO THE FRONT DESK TO RECEIVE THEIR WELCOME BAG!!
I have mixed emotions about the whole venue. We were off to a good start when we booked but it seemed to go downhill as management changed. I would say if you book here to read between the lines or hire a lawyer to read the contract thoroughly before signing anything otherwise be faced with erroneous upcharges.
I was very impressed with ocean place and their staff. I had my beautiful wedding at ocean place September 27th of this past year and they made it such an easy process for me. Stephanie was FANTASTIC and paid attention to every little detail my fiancé and I wanted for that day. I would highly recommend Ocean Place for a beach wedding! It was great!
Ocean Place can't be beat for their ocean beach weddings. The view is perfect, and the new renovations are beautiful... but that's where it ends. The bride and other family and friends got BUMPED from the hotel the night before the wedding, causing all kinds of mayhem.
The 'get ready' room we were shown during the walk through was spacious with a balcony to overlook the ocean... on the day of, 11 women were squished into a tiny, narrow, windowless room with a dripping air-conditioner. The food tasting, which the bride flew across country to attend only had ONE choice from the selected menu... and on the 'day of' the main selection of Jerk Chicken wasn't even close to Jerk Chicken... and was dry. Throw in a rude bartender who needs retraining in customer service and an un-caring staff who tosses your belongings into your room breaking and ruining things like your guestbook and the seashell bouquet... and this just about sums up what you can expect from this place.
Not EVERYTHING was horrible... there were some things that went right... and to be honest at the end of the day I can tell you the wedding was beautiful. But that has more to do with the DJ, Videographer, and Photographer.
Let's just say... on the ONE extraordinary day in your life you want to FEEL special, Ocean Place didn't shine.

My rehearsal dinner bonfire, wedding and after wedding brunch were all held at Ocean Place. I could not be more pleased with the quality, professionalism and comfort the hotel offered myself, husband and our guests. And not to mention, the renovations and location are just remarkable! Everyone that attended the wedding felt like they just arrived at a destination wedding! Stephanie Lubischer and staff were a dream to work and plan with. When you are working with detail oriented and talented staff, planning one of the biggest days of your life suddenly isn’t stressful and makes a world of a difference. Lisa Drake was phenomenal to work with in setting up the room block. The suite we stayed in was breathtaking, clean and comfortable. Our guests had no complaints about food, beverage or service throughout the entire weekend- and neither did my husband and I. All the captains, maître d's, servers, bartenders were quick, efficient and extremely attentive. I don't think I ever attended a wedding weekend where I could say the same level of service was provided. If I could of pictured and dreamed the perfect wedding... that would be it- and it really happened!
A plus for us was the prime location of Ocean Place. Our ceremony was held offsite in a church. With time in between the ceremony and the reception it was absolutely no problem. Our guests had plenty of options at Ocean Place to relax and stroll around- the Tiki bar, the lobby bar, and beautiful pier village to walk around the boardwalk area. And before they knew it, it was cocktail hour outside with an Ocean view. After the reception our guest who booked a room could get changed and then hang out in the lobby bar for an after hours party. The convenience of having everything in the same place is more than I could of imagined. It makes a huge difference when you are running around and getting ready to host one of the biggest parties of your life!
I had my wedding here August of 2013. The venue was perfect for the amount of guests we had ( which was around 620). The venue was accomodating and overall pleasant to work with. We had our own food catered and the venue full cooperated with our catering company. They recently started renovations so my wedding was the first in the new ballroom which was very nice and it blended well with our cabana which ocean place posted a picture of on here. Our outdoor ceremony was done on the patio with red mandap draping and balls hanging. I do feel the cost of per person at this venue can be high especially they are not providing any food but having said that we negotiated top shelf open bar for 7 hours so that worked out well. Stephanie was very pleasant to work with and so was the rest of the staff. The only con i can say is that the hotel stays are crazy expensive and we had over 20 rooms blocked and the best they can provide under the wedding block rate was still very high!!! most of our other guests stayed at a near by hotel and we hired a shuttle bus to take them to and from Ocean place. The venue is great, the view is amazing and our decorater, DJ did a fabulous job partnering up with the venue to bring me and my husband the best day ever. Ofcourse there was lots pf planning involved too but over all the venue was pretty accomodating and given our insane number of guests everything went smooth.
We had a great time working with the staff at ocean place. Stephanie was our coordinator and she did an exceptional job! our wedding was just as we wanted! She made wonderful suggestions and was very accomodating.

Ocean Place Resort and Spa is a great place to have your wedding! Every person that was involved in our wedding from Stephanie the banquet manager to the Lisa Drake the hotel reservations manager was professional yet very personable. The venue offers ceremonies on the beach, outside cocktail hour/reception and/or a beautiful ocean view room. Can not say enough rgood things about the venue, service or personnel!
We just got married on the beach of long branch. The weather was sunny and the venue has a goreous room called Oceanport where our reception was held. There is big windows to have the ocean view. The rooms are out dated while most of the staff was accommodating, our biggest compliment is they get you for cost with every little things. We recommend for a beach wedding but be cautious when it comes to that fine print!

If I could go back, I would not change a single thing about my wedding day. Having the ceremony on the beach was absolutely breathtaking. The cocktail hour on the patio was absolutely perfect. The food was amazing and there was plenty of it! The staff was very professional and took care of everything. Having the view of the beach from the ballroom thanks to the ceiling to floor length windows. My guests loved their accomodations there. I would get married there a thousand times over!
Initially I was planning to get married in Florida, but, we got pregnant and decided it be best to do a local wedding. I still wanted to get married on the beach though. Looked at several places close to Manhattan and found Ocean Place to be the perfect spot for the perfect price. At the time, our account was managed by Tiffany. She was very helpful throughout the planning process. A few weeks before our wedding, another representative called to do a run through of what we needed and how we wanted everything arranged. Again, she was helpful and thorough. A few days before our wedding Dominique called and mentioned that the previous coordinater was no longer with the hotel and that she would be handling our event. I had to go over all the details again. I felt like a broken record. As small as our event was, I thought it would be a cake walk. It rained the day of the wedding and Dominique called and stated that they had a backup room if it continued to rain. At our arrival, Dominique mentioned that the backup room was being set up. I went to take a look and the minute I got to the doorway I ran off to cry. The room was hideous. My fiance and his brother tried to convince her to have it all set up on the beach as we planned because it wasn't raining hard. Asked that they provide towels if anything. Dinner was set up in the next room instead of the patio area outside. That room was set up perfectly. My guests had access to the balcony which overlooked the beach. Almost an hour after arrival, the beach was set up, however, the beach chairs were our backdrop. We were outraged after Dominique stated that my photographer could photoshop them out! OMG!!! Everyone found themselves shouting at her and finally after an additional half hour they moved some chairs. Luckily, the rain let up and 2 rainbows appeared. The ceremony was flawless! Dinner was delicious. Plentiful. Serpil managed that part of the evening and I couldn't have asked for a better banquet captain. She was fantastic!!! Her staff was so accomodating and friendly. We praise her! Unfortunately, my ratings are split. I didn't like the way things were handled by the senior event coordinator, but, loved the food and banquet service overall.
Soooooo many issues with this vendor! the ONLY redeeming qualities are the location (private beach and next to Pier Village) and the food which is excellent! We were promised quality service, and that amoung many other things, was NOT provided. We were bounced from one coordinator to the next landing our 4th person just two weeks prior to the wedding. Our wedding cake design and size was changed the day prior to the wedding, the bride and groom's reservation and our best man's reservation "could not be found" upon check-in, bridal suite was not provided, and what one coordinator promised was not accomidated by the next. Over all, the vendor's staff lack proper business attitude and there is a serious coodination issue.
Great food, Great service, Great location!
We got married outside on the beach, walked upstairs for our cocktail and our venue was inside the ballroom. It was awesome!! It was NOT the typical "average" wedding food...The food was GREAT!!! Everyone LOVED the food which is definitely hard to come across for a wedding with over 250 guests!!!! EVeryone was very helpful and it was exactly what we imagined. If you are looking for a beach wedding, don't search around!!! OCEAN PLACE is the place to go!!!! The only thing you need to speak to them about is pricing. It was a pricy wedding with the gratuity included and all, but definitely worth it.
The entire day was absolutely perfect! Largely due to the incredible service of the Entire Ocean Place staff. Chris and I felt like we had just stepped off a plane with all the palm trees, the soft sand (which they rake and clean twice a day), and the service from the staff was as if the whole wedding and all our our guests were royalty! While the rooms are over-priced, there were several other hotels within a 2 mile distance that worked well for our guests that preferred. The food was incredible, and the way they presented it all was perfect! Ocean Place truly made it the best day of our lives.
This hotel is beautiful! The lobby is great for pictures in case of rain. They only issue I had is that they told me I had to block 10 rooms on my credit card because they were "almost full capacity that weekend". Once the 10 rooms were takne by my guests, they magically had alot more to offer. Also, they charged me for delivery of guest bags, which is absolutely rediculous!! They had a VERY good breakfast buffet the morning after my wedding!!
Everything was great. Leah is fantastic. Only problem was with the room blocks, if guests didn't call when the group rate people were present, they couldn't book a room in the block.
Everything went so well and everyone was so accomidating and very willing to work with my ideas and make the day perfect.
In summary, dealing with The Ocean Place was one of the hardest things I’ve ever done in my life. I think this hotel has a huge potential to do great but completely misses the mark on service. I have worked in many hotels over the years and have my degree in hospitality and do think there needs to be some major changes at The Ocean Place if it wants to keep afloat. Many of my family and friends always come to me with hotel recommendations, and I will consistently warn them against The Ocean Place. I will also be sending that same warning to NJ Brides.
