Ohana Family Camp is an AMAZING venue. We had our wedding here less than two weeks ago, and I cannot say enough good things about it. There are enough cabins onsite to house nearly...
100 guests, and the fee that they pay for their accommodations includes delicious breakfasts and lunches over the weekend. It was such a blast to be surrounded by our family and friends for three days and two nights; this venue is perfect if you want to provide your guests with a real experience that goes beyond a traditional celebration that consists of only a wedding and a reception. With exclusive use of Ohana Family Camp for your wedding weekend, guests can hike the beautiful Vermont trails in the area, use the lake waterfront to swim or kayak, or you can even ask the camp to set up an archery field where your guests can learn to shoot a bow and arrow!
A lot of elements of the wedding are DIY at this venue, but with careful planning and assistance of friends and family, that was not a hindrance for us. The Ohana coordinators, Gretchen and Kat, were extremely helpful and made everything go as smoothly as possible. The Ohana chef, Stephen, is fantastic. We had so many guests come up to us and say it was the best food they'd ever had at a wedding. He worked with us extensively over the wedding planning period to customize our menu and to make it specific to our history as a couple. He also learned how to make lumpia, a traditional Filipino dish, just for the occasion, which was so special for my family.
I recomment Ohana highly. We're already laying the groundwork to go back there for a 10-year anniversary celebration!
Ohana is a truly magical place for a wedding, and we are so happy this was the first decision we made when planning our wedding! We knew we wanted to have a summer camp vibe where ...
everyone could stay on site, and our second biggest priority was amazing food - two requests that we were worried would not be possible together. We were wrong! Chef Steve at Ohana created a visionary menu for us - we wanted non-traditional pasta dishes to echo our time studying abroad in Italy, and he delivered. There was a gorgeous trio of pasta dishes that he suggested be served family style, and it was a huge hit with our guests. All of the food throughout the whole weekend was amazing, from the from-scratch toppings for our Friday night taco bar, to the freshly fried arancini appetizers, to the blueberry sauce to top the fluffy pancakes on Sunday morning. The opportunity to celebrate for the entire weekend with our guests staying on site was so special, and the grounds are the best of Vermont’s beauty. We enjoyed beautiful sunsets, crisp nights under the stars, and a beautiful wedding morning spent jumping in the waters of Lake Fairlee. Of course, they are a summer camp in rural Vermont, so remember that they won’t be able to get back to you as quickly as a traditional venue, but it ended up working out totally fine for us. Gretchen, the wedding coordinator, knows how to make the whole weekend run like a well-oiled machine. Our guests could not stop raving about everything the entire weekend, and are still talking about it all 3 weeks later!!! I can’t think of anything that could have went better during the weekend, and it was the most memorable part of our wedding!
Ohana is an amazing venue for a wedding. Our guests raved about the location, the views, the nature, the cabins, the food - we're still getting compliments on our wedding weekend! ...
(One of my pickiest friends said "this is one of the best weddings I've ever been to!")
The food for the welcome dinner, breakfasts and bag lunches was delicious, and they were able to accommodate dietary restrictions and our special requests. The cabins were just right - rustic, but not uncomfortable. Our friends and family were able to take advantage of the waterfront on Saturday morning (unfortunately we had to get ready and missed out).
The staff did a great job on the weekend of the wedding - things went really smoothly and they were very friendly and welcoming. Our ceremony site was at a sister camp, and when we went there for the rehearsal on Friday we found all sorts of random stuff around the site - once we let Vanessa know, she took care of it immediately, either by having the other camp staff or her own staff clean up, and it looked amazing the next day.
I guess my only advice would be that since it's not a full-time wedding venue, (and because there's no wifi or cell service!), it can sometimes take a while to get a response to an email, since they're off doing their actual jobs of running a camp! This was totally fine with us, but just be aware that they can't always respond instantly.
