Awesome venue!
Our wedding was on Friday 13th, October 2017. First off, this date was not available for the venue to be open due to an event, however after speaking Kara Lovell the wedding coordinator at the aquarium, the board let us make a small donation to the event to move it to the next weekend so my wife could have her perfect date. We found Kara and Danielle her assistant extremely helpful in planning all details of the wedding. We live 2 hours away from Tulsa and they were very accommodating to meet any time we needed too. We visited to tour the venue then a few weekends later to plan the full details. Kara showed all the details from tables and linens to table center pieces they provide. She ordered in Candelabras and had runners running from the ceiling to make our ceremony look absolutely stunning. They set all this up for us plus decorations we brought in and our brides and grooms party got to enjoy the night without any real hassle. We had two big rooms for changing in but they were not full dressing rooms but that didn't hurt the ambiance at all.
We had our wedding at 7PM and everything ran perfectly thanks to Kara and her staff. It was also the very first wedding in which they opened the Sea Turtle exhibit which opened in March of 2017. We had our ceremony in front of the large shark tank exhibit, and reception with the cake cutting with a very friendly sea turtle that loved to make a touring appearance every ten minutes. We kept our wedding fairly small (75 people), but for everything Kara and the Aquarium staff did. The price was well worth the venue price. Not to mention that our guests enjoyed seeing all the sea life and venue prior to the ceremony. At first we were skeptical about using their caterer (Party Serve) but everything that we ordered on the menu was delicious and the services they provided were timed to perfection.
Pictures went great, we had the sharks overhead and all the sea life was within reach. Make sure that you meet with your photographer so that they know how to gauge the glare off the glass. This was a concern however our did a great job. Also you can use the river for pictures outdoors with scenery and the entire venue had great air conditioning. The building itself is extremely large and has a great look! The day of the wedding Kara and Danielle told us that they were going to do a cleaning with the Sea Turtle and they surprised us with a white board and diver congratulating us as the sea turtle swam by. The Aquarium, Kara, and Danielle made our wedding the best day start our married lives.
It was HOT! They turned the a/c down but because of the humidity from the aquariums I was glad we did pictures before the wedding. By the time the reception was over everyone was sweating. I overall loved it though. It was unique and kept my guests from getting bored.
Oklahoma Aquarium was wonderful and accommodating!
They have a caterer within the Aquarium who makes very delicious food. We had our ceremony and reception there, and it worked perfectly! It's a little on the pricey side but it's well worth not having any time limit for the venue!
I got married in August 2010 at the Ok Aquarium and had a blast. I worked with Kevin Drain, who is young but has done a lot of events there. Fuad is the caterer and his food is absolutely amazing! We had a blast and we have heard nothing but great things from our guests.
The only problem we had was with the rehearsal. There was an aquarium event booked the night before and so it was kind of a difficult to practice since they were setting up for another event.
