Full of electric charm and detail, the 7,000 sq ft space built in 1884 can transform into your dream wedding venue. You and your guests (up to 158) can marvel over the serene views of Lake Carey and dance the night away under the bespoke lighting fixtures.
Owners Lewis Flinn and Douglas Carter Beane have both had long careers on Broadway. When life as they knew it paused in 2020, they turned their creativity to restoring the barn. With indoor and outdoor ceremony and reception settings, Old Carter Barn has much to offer you and your partner on your special day. With the ceremony space on the shores of Lake Carey, cocktail hour on the adjoining patio, and reception and dancing in the 150 year old barn, Old Carter Barn will keep you and your guests enchanted.
The incredible staff offers day-of coordination and planning help to make all your dreams come true. With a shared love of production, the team at Old Carter Barn are certified wedding planners who thrive on perfecting even the most minor details and look forward to welcoming others to their little slice of heaven on their big day. Open from May-Early November, full weekend rental allows couples ample time to set up and clean up the provided tables, chairs, and onsite decorations. Audio equipment is provided, and you are welcome to bring in outside vendors for everything you need to make your dream day a reality.
Lewis Flinn and husband Douglas Carter Beane (Owners) have a career creating Broadway shows. When Covid hit, they turned their creativity to restoring their barn. It has been transformed into a magical space for weddings and special events and they are excited to be a part of creating your biggest production, your wedding!
Dave Maxey, manager, hails from neighboring Montrose. Dave keeps everything running smoothly, so don't be surprised to see him helping with set-up, lining up the wedding party for the ceremonies, or starting a fire in the fire pit at the end of the night.

Lewis Flinn- owner- Lewis oversees and handles all the contracts. A former Eagle Scout- "be prepared" is the motto! He makes sure all weddings go smoothly.

Our wedding day at Old Carter Barn was nothing short of magical. The venue itself is absolutely stunning. Spacious, warm, and breathtaking the moment you walk in. The barn truly took our breath away.
Dave was the absolute best. He made our entire day run smoothly from start to finish, went above and beyond for us, and was so involved in every detail. By the end of the night, he genuinely felt like a best friend. Celebrating with us while still being right there anytime we needed anything. His professionalism and kindness were unmatched.
Lewis was incredibly responsive during the planning process and truly welcoming. You can tell he knows his guests and cares about every couple who walks through the doors.
Even though rain kept us from using the outdoor ceremony spot (which is gorgeous!), the team quickly transformed the indoor space, and it was just as beautiful and intimate.
Old Carter Barn genuinely catered to our guests’ needs and helped make our wedding unforgettable. We would recommend this venue to absolutely anyone looking for the perfect place to celebrate their special day.

Look no further. I cannot praise this venue and the team enough. As soon as we pulled up to tour this venue, I knew that this is where I was going to get married. The ceremony is absolutely breathtaking and the ACTUAL barn is exactly what we were looking for. Every single guest of ours complimented the venue and our photographer even said that it was the prettiest venue they have seen. Dave greeted us and immediately clicked with us which made this even less stressful. with being out of state, he was able to point us in the direction of every kind of local vendor you would think you would need for a wedding. He was always a call away to answer any questions we had. On the day of the wedding, Dave and Caleigh were there bright and early and helped us set up anything we needed along with general set up. They handled all of our vendors so all we had to do was sit back and relax. Caleigh was a great help with sending us down the aisle and even making sure my dress was fluffed for it. They made sure that throughout the entire night, neither of us had to lift a finger and do something. Coming back the next morning to gather all of our decorations and leftovers, Dave already gathered it to a neat pile so it was just a grab and go. Old Carter Barn and their team made my wedding day such an incredible day and there isn't a thing I would have changed.

My now husband and I got married here on 10/05/2025 and we couldn't have picked a better venue! Throughout the day we got so many compliments about choosing Old Carter Barn for our special day, and it absolutely was a gorgeous scenic spot. Throughout the planning phase they are there for every step of the way and communication was super super easy. If I had a question all I had to do was send a message and they were always quick with a response, I didn't have to worry about waiting for weeks to hear back. We also were able to schedule in-person visits or phone consults as needed which made the process smooth. Questions were always answered, they were more than willing to help if needed, for example we were provided a list of recommended vendors which really helped in the planning process. Throughout the day there was always someone nearby helping out and making sure the day was going as smoothly as possible. One of the lovely staff members in the morning even helped as much as she could with set-up. She was sweet, caring, and overall an amazing help. Almost forgot to mention, the ceremony spot in front of the water was the absolute most beautiful spot! I was so impressed with the venue I was even recommending them to people before our big day and I'll definitely recommend them to anyone in the future, I would 10000% hold another event here in the future if I ever needed to!

Old Carter Barn was the perfect venue for us! One of our guests commented that it was magical, and we wholeheartedly agree! The weather was very uncooperative and we had to move our ceremony from the gazebo to inside. It was still beautiful and the coordinators were so flexible and assisted us with pulling it all together! They even had heaters for our guests to keep warm. We're so thankful for them. They mitigated every one of our concerns. My new sister-in-law fell in love with the venue and has even mentioned having her wedding there.

This venue is perfect for someone who is looking for the rustic Barn style wedding! The workers here are a great help to you during your planning process! Lewis and Dave are right there to help you if you have any questions at all!
This place is also perfect during the golden hour and allows you to have very intimate times with you partner and your family.

We just had our wedding here and it was absolutely amazing! I loved everything about this place. From the barn and it's rustic charm to the gazebo by the lake, it was the perfect setting to have my wedding. Dave, Lewis & Caleigh made our day run as smooth as possible and I can't thank them enough! All our guests kept commenting on how beautiful this place was and I could not recommend it enough!

Dave & others were very helpful and responsive the entire time, from 2 years ahead to the wedding day, and even helped get through some bumps that happened before, during and after the reception. Won't nickel & dime you for little requests and needs, just genuinely wanted to help make our day a success. Couldn't recommend more.

Where to begin?! Everything at the Old Carter Barn was perfect beyond measure. We truly had an amazing experience from the day we found this venue on the Knot to the conclusion of our special day. There was so much support throughout the entire process including the planning of setup and decorations, seating charts, organizing the ceremony plan and backup plan…the list goes on. The staff at the Old Carter Barn were responsive to my late night panicked messages when I would think of a small detail I might’ve forgotten and they always made me feel at ease. The day of our wedding there was so much support from the setup to the lining up of the bridal party, organizing vendors, and seating guests. We never in a million years could’ve dreamed of how perfect our special day would be and it wouldn’t have been possible without the Old Carter Barn. Thinking of booking your event with them? Don’t wait, jump on it now! The views are breathtaking from all parts of the property and the small town charm really made this location one we will never forget.

Old Carter Barn is the most beautiful and perfect wedding venue. We will never forget our family and friend’s reactions when they walked into the barn for the first time, everyone was impressed and all had the best time.
From the day we decided to choose them as our venue, Lewis was so responsive and helpful. The barn shares their recommended vendors, this was not only helpful in our planning process, but the day was the incredible because of our DJ, Bartenders, photographer, and a few other vendors that we selected from OCB’s list. The team also helped us in their innovative seating charts and throughout every step of the way in planning. Day of, Caleigh and Dave were the best team. Caleigh helped us set up, did walk throughs, and made sure everything was going well. She even was flexible when we had last minute changes to the set up and seating chart. Dave came to the rescue several times the rest of the day. The team helped clean the end of the night and sort all the decorations. The communication was above and beyond. We also adored getting ready in the suites, there was plenty of room for the wedding party and to have everyone in one place for the first looks. It was truly magical to have our ceremony by the lake. The system Caleigh and Dave had with their golf cart and walkie talkies was epic. It was the smoothest day! We cannot thank the team enough for all the time and care.

Going with Old Carter Barn was the best wedding decision we made, and after viewing the barn we knew right away it was the place for us (and that was during its off season!) let’s start with the barn itself, with its own beauty and location the venue honestly decorates for itself. Sitting in the beautiful lake, surrounded by the woods in a quiet location. It’s pure bliss just to be there. We had nothing but compliments such as ‘for a barn, this is one of the nicest venues we ever attended a wedding at’. It’s not like other barn venues; this barn has history and soul in it… and you can feel that when you’re there. Now! On to Lewis, Dave and Caleigh. If you’re hoping for helpful owners and coordinators you can not get better than them. Both Lewis and Dave are very quick to respond to any questions or concerns you have. Dave is very on top of his game the weeks prior and day of your wedding, he is the behind the scenes king! We had minor problems (on our end) and he was quick to grab his personal keys and ask ‘what do you need’ thankfully he didn’t have to go anywhere but he was ready! He also played a big party in a military surprise for me, he made sure our Marine was hidden until the time came. Now, Caleigh… she. Is. A. SANIT. This girl did not stop go go go! She made sure we were on schedule every step of the way and was not rushing or pushy at all! Any questions she would make sure she had the right answer for those people. She worked so well with our other vendors and made sure to keep me calm up until the moments of our ceremony. You honestly could not ask for a better venue or crew to work with. Thank you Lewis, Caleigh and Dave. You made our day perfect.

My experience with this vendor exceeded my expectations.. they were interactive and helpful every single step of the way which made the planning easy. The barn is absolutely gorgeous and displays its natural beauty through its architecture and decor. We can confidently say that our wedding was as special as it was mostly because of Old Carter Barn. It was the perfect venue to make for the perfect day! The staff at the barn were very professional and extremely helpful with every aspect of the day. It was a rainy day and thankfully the rain held off to have the ceremony by the lake but the staff had prepared an indoor ceremony as a back up plan. The months leading up to the wedding were filled with proper communication and timely responses that made the whole situation stress free. We had originally toured the venue prior to renovations and after Dave had explained the plans for the finished barn we had faith and kept with it and it was certainly the right decision the barn is gorgeous inside and out and it made for the best day ever. We would highly recommend this venue to anyone, they’re the best! The only downside is that we only got to spend one day here! 10/10 highly recommend.

Our wedding day was 9/24/22 and we had the most memorable, wonderful and special weekend. Dave was extremely helpful during set up for the wedding day, break down and everything in between. Dave is extremely kind, talented, a good sense of humor and kept things light and easy for us! Caleigh was a tremendous help as well during the day. Dave and Caleigh are fabulous day of coordinators and were present and willing to help every moment that we needed them. Lewis, Dave and Caleigh are beyond how positively I can describe them and ensured that we had the best day ever.
The Old Carter Barn was the only venue we toured and we knew it was the one immediately! The recent additions made everything more beautiful and enjoyable. This venue is picture perfect while keeping a relaxed feel. You can dress it up as much as you’d like it keep things casual while keeping it’s unique charm. The lake view during the ceremony, cocktail hour on the patio, reception inside the barn with a bonfire and s’mores to end the night was perfect. Dave set off our fireworks (which made the night even more memorable) and suggested we do a mock sparkler exit to surprise our guests towards the end of the night. I cannot say enough good things about this venue, the staff and owners who are there! Absolutely fabulous. The most special, memorable and loving weekend for my husband and I. Our family and friends cannot stop raving about it. Thank you!!

The Old Carter Barn was the perfect wedding venue for us. We absolutely loved the outdoor ceremony space and stone cocktail patio near the lake. Despite being a crisp fall day, the standing heaters did a great job keeping our guests warm. The barn itself is beautifully restored and full of character. Lewis, Dave and Caleigh were extremely helpful leading up to the event and kept things running smoothly the day of. We are so happy we found Old Carter Barn for our special day!

We had our wedding here on October 7th, 2022. The venue is absolutely breath taking! We got married on site down at the lake in front of a gazebo! Our guests enjoyed cocktail hour right next to where we got married on the patio ALL ON THE LAKE!!! Our reception was held in the barn and honestly it decorates itself.
Lewis, the owner, and all of the staff were extremely helpful! From touring the venue to the day of there's nothing that they miss! They had someone directing people where to go for the ceremony and even had a golf cart for the older guests who couldn't make it down and back up the hill on their own. Dave attended the fire pit all night where most of our guests enjoyed hanging out at if they weren't dancing!
I cannot recommend this place enough! If your not sure about it just tour it, and I promise you will fall in love with it! We had such a magical night, it was way better than we even hoped!

Old Carter Barn is truly a stellar venue! Lewis (the owner) and his team (Doug and Caleigh) were so kind, professional, and organized throughout the entire wedding planning process, but especially on the day of the wedding. The venue itself is absolutely gorgeous and offers so much to couples (e.g., outside ceremony location next to a beautiful lake, outside patio for cocktail hour, beautifully renovated/historic barn with plenty of space and amazing amenities for reception). We LOVE Old Carter Barn and give our highest recommendation for this venue!

On Wednesday August 11, 2021 our family celebrated our son's engagement party at The Old Carter Barn at Lake Carey, Pennsylvania. The venue is a beautiful space in a newly renovated barn. Soaring ceilings, charming bar, stunning craft lighting, lovely long wooden tables, all delightfully appealing. Mr. Flinn is the consummate professional. He coordinated beautifully with the caterer. We will definitely be back for future events.

If I can give 10 stars, I would! From the location, to the venue, to the staff. AMAZING! We was able to do our rehearsal dinner there and well as our ceremony and reception! It was incredible. Lewis and his team was extremely helpful and thoughtful, they made our wedding process as smoothly as possible. I arrived on rehearsal day with a flower emergency and Lewis saved the day for me. The lakeview, the activities, the lights & decor.... You want a farmhouse wedding, this place is it!!

I cannot put into words how absolutely amazing our experience was from the first contact we had all the way to this week, days after our reception. Lewis and Doug are the absolute sweetest people ever, while still being professional and attentive! The barn is incomparable in so many ways. It’s authentic and absolutely gorgeous and the perfect space for any event. And DAVE!! The best general manager you’ll come into contact with. So helpful and attentive the day of our wedding reception and went above & beyond anything we could’ve expected. Even helped our vendor put up all the decorations and when we had a different vendor issue, he was right there to solve the problem. Please please please book the Old Carter Barn for your event, every inch of this place and these people are bar none!!!!

Old Carter Barn is absolutely STUNNING. With the most serene and beautiful views of Lake Carey, and a stunning, rustic and natural backdrop, what more could you want?! The barn itself is a beautiful space for any event, to host cocktail hour, to dance the night away, a gorgeous meal for the guests. It truly is such a versatile space and we had so much fun in it. The cherry on the cake is the incredible gazebo that has been newly restored. Makes for the most beautiful and unique wedding photos. Couldn't recommend enough!

Lewis and Doug are two fantastic and talented hosts with this charming old barn set in the heart of Lake Carey. This barn has been in Doug's family for a long time and they refinished it with a vision for music, the arts, and love. My husband and I found them by chance as he grew up at Lake Carey. It also features a very romantic and old gazebo lake side. I had a dream of a simple wedding set somewhere unique - somewhere that essentially decorated itself. I am not much for over the top decor, traditions, trends... I just wanted something whimsical and timeless... artistic, unique, and fun. We got to see the barn before the renovations and I fell in love. I would have been happy with that - but then Lewis and Doug brought in a great team. Now it's complete with fans, a sound system, chandelier, lighting, bar, dressing rooms, etc. It is incredible and the barn and the owners curated my dream bohemian, old-timey, fairytale, barn wedding. I wouldn't change a thing. To boot, I still get to visit the barn and Lewis and Doug because they will have art shows, and even Broadway musicals there.
