I knew Old Homestead Campground was where we were meant to get married the moment I stepped onto the property. A peaceful feeling just settled over me, and I could immediately picture our friends and family gathered there with us.
The property is absolutely beautiful, with incredible views of the Never Summer Mountains and a gorgeous log building that was perfect for our reception and so many of our other weekend activities. Having such a beautiful and functional indoor space was also invaluable when Colorado weather decided not to cooperate!
One of the things that makes Old Homestead so special as a wedding venue is how much flexibility it gives you to make the property your own. We were able to buy out the entire campground for the weekend at a surprisingly affordable price, which allowed us to create exactly the wedding weekend we wanted. Rather than being limited to a certain number of hours or a traditional venue schedule, we had the time and space to truly enjoy being together with our guests.
There are also a variety of lodging options right on the property, including cabins, RV sites and tent camping, so guests can choose what works best for them. For those who prefer a little more "hotel comfort," Walden is only about a half hour away, making it easy for everyone to be part of the celebration.
And I can't say enough about the owners, Lauren and Mike. They are wonderful people who made us feel welcome from the very beginning and genuinely cared about making our wedding special.
Old Homestead gave us everything we could have wanted in a wedding venue: a stunning setting, beautiful indoor and outdoor spaces, flexibility, lodging, privacy, affordability and wonderful owners. Whether you're planning something simple and intimate or a full wedding weekend with all your favorite people, there is so much potential to make Old Homestead completely your own. We truly can't imagine having gotten married anywhere else.

We truly could not have dreamed of a more perfect place to get married. We had the honor of being the Old Homestead Campground’s first wedding, and they went above and beyond to make the entire weekend so special for us.
We spent three days there surrounded by our closest friends and family, and it was everything we wanted our wedding to be — relaxed, beautiful, intimate, and genuinely fun. Having everyone together at the campground turned our wedding into an entire weekend of memories instead of just one day. Lauren and her family were incredibly kind and accommodating throughout it all, and we felt so welcomed.
One of my favorite things is knowing that our wedding venue isn’t somewhere we’ll visit once and never see again. It’s a place we already can’t wait to return to year after year. I love thinking about coming back for snowboarding, anniversaries, vacations, and someday bringing our future kids to the place where we got married.
Old Homestead will always be such a special place to us. We are so grateful they trusted us to be their first wedding and helped make the weekend better than we ever could have imagined. We’ll absolutely be back for years to come!

Tucked away on 88 acres in North Park, our historic property offers dramatic 360° mountain views, a private stretch of the Illinois River, walking trails, rustic cabins, RV sites, outdoor gathering spaces, and our historic Lodge for ceremonies, receptions, and celebrations.
Our specialty is the wedding retreat—giving couples the opportunity to gather their favorite people, stay on the property, celebrate, and actually enjoy time with their guests. Our signature Full Property Buyout offers exclusive use of Old Homestead Campground for a private multi-day celebration, with weekend and weekday options and additional nights available.
We also believe your wedding should fit you, not the other way around. In addition to our Full Property Buyout, we offer customizable wedding packages based on your guest count, dates, vision, and how much of the property you want to incorporate. We'll work with you to create an experience that feels personal and intentional rather than simply choosing from a one-size-fits-all menu.
And behind Old Homestead Campground are Lauren and Mike, the owner-operators who call this special place home. When we purchased the campground, we saw an opportunity to bring this historic property back to life and create a space where people could slow down, reconnect with themselves and each other, spend time in nature, and escape the pace of everyday life. Weddings have become a beautiful extension of that vision—a chance to bring the people you love together, be present and intentional, and savor the beginning of one of the most meaningful chapters of your lives.

Hi, I’m Lauren, and along with my husband, Mike, I’m the owner and operator of Old Homestead Campground.
For 14 years, I worked as a physical therapist. I loved helping people, but eventually I felt burned out and ready for a change. Mike and I dreamed of doing something completely different—not just changing careers, but changing the way we lived. We wanted to build something of our own, spend more time outside, and create a more intentional life for our family.
Then we found The Old Homestead.
We toured the property and fell in love almost immediately. It had been closed for nearly 15 years. It was run down, overgrown, and needed a lot of work. But underneath it all, we saw something special—the history, mountains, river, old buildings, and a story worth continuing.
We took a leap of faith, purchased the property in 2024, and moved our family to North Park, CO.
Since then, we’ve poured countless hours, energy, and love into bringing The Old Homestead back to life while preserving what made us fall in love with it—its history, rustic character & natural beauty. We wanted to breathe new life into a special old place and let its character shine again.
Along the way, we discovered that weddings fit beautifully into what we were creating. Here, your wedding can become a mountain retreat—a chance to slow down, stay awhile, gather around the fire, explore, celebrate, and truly be present with your people.
Because we live and work here, you’ll work directly with us throughout the process. I love getting to know our couples, hearing their vision, and helping create an experience that feels personal and true to them.
We didn’t set out to build a wedding venue. We set out to create a different kind of life—and now we feel incredibly lucky to share this place with others.
