We recently partnered with On The Vine for our wedding at Nella Terra in April 2023 and they did not disappoint - our guests were raving about our menu. We got compliments like "this is by far the best food we've ever had at a wedding" and "how were the short ribs perfectly cooked for everyone?". We had a 145 person wedding and On The Vine really delivered. Thank you!

We worked with On the Vine for our wedding at Nella Terra Cellars and were very happy we did! From the appetizers to the late night snacks and everything in between, the food at the event was absolutely delicious. We served the short ribs and macadamia-crusted mahi mahi, and we had so many guests comment on how much they loved all the food. It was wonderful to work with their team leading up to the event, and On the Vine provided great service during the reception, too.

I am so glad we were required to work with On the Vine Catering! Not only was the staff so easy to work with and so nice but the food was excellent. From the appetizers to dinner, every person at our wedding was so impressed! We will have people talking about how good the short ribs and the entire dinner was! We had On the Vine cater our wedding reception at Nella Terra in June 2021 — they did a fantastic job, and we couldn’t be happier! Jill is SO easy and fun to work with, we got to chat with her during our tasting and it’s really clear that she’s kind, professional, and organized. All of the food, of course, speaks for itself — there’s a great variety of options, and you really can’t go wrong with any of them. Our guests were super pleased! The On the Vine catering team is also superb — they were friendly with all of our guests and did a wonderful job setting up the dinner tables and dessert table! For us, On the Vine also contracted with Pleasanton Rentals for all linens and tableware / flatware — it made it super easy for us to have everything all together. Overall, they did a great job, and we’re extremely grateful for their help in making our wedding a success!

On the Vine was a required vendor to book with our wedding venue, but we are so grateful to have worked with them! All of the staff were extremely professional and attentive during the planning process and on our wedding day. The food is amazing and we received so many compliments. If we ever have an event where we would need catering, we will book them again without a doubt!

We can’t say enough great things about Dave and his team! We worked with Dave for our wedding through Purple Orchid and were lucky to have him be part of our team. Dave took the time to understand the details of what we were looking for and executed it perfectly on our wedding day. Dave also worked closely with Pleasanton rentals to make sure our plates and cutlery were perfect. The food was perfect on our wedding day and many of our wedding guests—who are foodies—said that it was the best pasta they had ever had. We booked On the Vine because they are a required vendor of Nella Terra Cellars, where we got married. I am so glad they were required because we wouldn't have wanted to go with any other catering vendor! Jill was so great to work with. We had many questions and she always answered them so quickly. As for the food, our guests could not stop talking about how delicious the food was! Sometimes wedding food can be underwhelming but we, along with all of our guests, were incredibly impressed at not just the quality and taste of the food, but also how professional the servers were! We recommend On the Vine to everyone!

We hired Cabana Dave's/On the Vine Catering for our small backyard wedding ceremony. Ronnie made the meal selection easy and all coordination seamless. We selected the Mediterranean Buffet Menu and the food was beyond delicious. They were very accommodating for our family's celiac/gluten free dietary requirements. We also hired this same team last minute to cater our rehearsal dinner after our previous plans fell through. We selected the French-American Bistro Buffet Menu #2 for this meal. Overall, our weekend was filled with great food and memories, thanks to On the Vine.

We LOVE On the Vine Catering! Not only is the food AMAZING and delicious and beautiful, Jill is the absolute best! We loved working with her and everyone at On the Vine! Everyone at our wedding loved the food and appetizer stations so much. The Ramen was amazing. We are so happy we used On the Vine!

We got married at Nella Terra in Sunol, CA and On the Vine Catering was a required vendor. Jill from On the Vine Catering was a pleasure to work with. She was extremely quick at responding to emails and was very accommodating. My mom is an amazing cook, so she is very opinionated about food and food is the #1 most important thing to her at weddings. At our tasting, Jill was very patient with my mom and was even open to using the shrimp recipe that my mom talked to her about (though I liked the On the Vine shrimp more, so we went with theirs). Jill won over my mom, and my mom even gave her a hug at the end of our tasting (which is crazy because as an Asian mom, my mom does not give out hugs very often). We received so many compliments on our food from our guests. We got the dual entree with filet mignon and grilled prawns, with a side of potato gratin and Brussel sprouts. The filet mignon was cooked perfectly (which is an amazing feat for 156 guests), and we got many compliments on the potato gratin. We did plated, and gave the list of special meals/allergies to Jill a few weeks before our wedding. Everyone got the correct meal. Thank you, Jill and On the Vine Catering staff for being a part of our wedding!

Such a great experience with on the vine! After we did our initial food tasting we knew this was who we were going to go with for our wedding! They made the tasting so much fun with champagne and even let us keep everything we didn’t eat (they made full portions for us)! Come the day of the wedding, we missed most of the cocktail hour as we were taking pictures. By the time we finished and joined our guests most of the appetizers were gone. The owner however, came up to my husband and I with a full tray of all our appetizers for us to enjoy before we went into the reception! So thoughtful as we were starving at that point! Our food for dinner was SO yummy! Everything was warm and tasty. Again we even got to keep left leftovers of the wedding food that we enjoyed later again that night. Everyone was easy to work with and made planning a breeze. I highly recommend them!

On the Vine catered our wedding last weekend and I must say I have gotten so many compliments about how fabulous our food was! Everything was hot, the buffet line moved quickly, the servers were very nice and attentive. Jill is fantastic as well! She made this planning process so easy and was incredibly responsive when I had a ton of questions. Thank you so much OTV!!!!

On the Vine was a great choice to complete our rustic wedding dream with amazing bbq. The appetizers and dinner were great! They were accommodating with the changes I wanted to make to the menu to make it fit with our preferences. They communicated clearly about rental drop offs and set up times. The staff was friendly, helpful, and efficient before, during, and after the wedding. Everyone commented on how much they loved the bbq and appetizers. The ice cream bar was an excellent addition and I was so happy they offered that service for our wedding. They did such a great job and I was so happy we booked them! They allowed the planning process and day of to be stress free and they did an amazing job!:) I would highly recommend.

We hired On the Vine Catering for our wedding and worked with Rochelle for about a year. Rochelle answered all my millions of questions, emails, and calls right away and was incredibly helpful throughout the whole process. I only wish she was with us on the day of the wedding, but shes in sales and has a catering manager attend the wedding. She had great ideas and options and never tried to up sell us. We attended the tasting which I highly recommend you do, we thought we knew what we would want to serve and after the tasting it was completely different. Our guests told us all night they really enjoyed the food, especially the chicken and all the amazing sauces! We have a lot of foodie friends, so this felt so good to hear. This is not just plain wedding food, this is GOOD food, that we wish we could have again!

On the Vine did a great job with our wedding! From our initial tasting, to our later planning consultation, and finally to the day of the wedding, everything was executed seamlessly. There was a small hiccup with a few of the linens from the rental company missing from the order, but On the Vine went and took care of it before it was an issue. They were extremely attentive to myself and the groom in making sure we actually got to eat the food and boxed us up some leftovers as well. Normally, wedding food isn't very memorable but all our guests were commenting how great everything was, and a lot of people went back for more too! Thanks On the Vine - I would recommend you to anyone!

We hired On The Vine Catering to do our rehearsal dinner and were thrilled with everything they did! Rochelle was incredibly professional, helpful, and kind from day one. It was a last minute rehearsal, so small things were changing close to the date, but they were still so nice!! The food.. people have not stopped raving about it!! We did the Mediterranean theme, and it was delicious! 10/10 recommend this company. If your experience was anything like mine, you will not be disappointed!!

All of the guests I talked to loved the food at my wedding, thanks to On the Vine Catering! I had a positive experience with On the Vine, starting with a private tasting, where my husband and I got to choose our own menu and sample generous portions. They were flexible with menu options, and allowed us to mix-and -match from any of the available options. They were easy to communicate with via email. They sent someone out to meet with me a month before the wedding to go over details. The servers were very professional. They were on time and everything ran smoothly the day of my wedding.

On the Vine and Jill are 100% top of the line, and I highly recommend them to any bride. We got so many compliments all night from our guests about how much they enjoyed the food. We were so pleased with how everything turned out, and Jill fulfilled all of our requests exactly how we wanted. The pricing is really fair for the quality of the food you're getting. The wait staff also did a wonderful job and were attentive to our guests. I would give them 10 stars if I could!

On the Vine was perfection!! They are very organized and set you up with a tasting right away -food was beyond delicious!! Then they give you access to this amazing website, allseated.com where you can move around the tables, seating, decor and place guests very easily. It made planning everything so much easier. I would recommend everyone use it! Then the food was delicious!! We had chicken, flank steak, César salad, sautéed veggies, garlic mashed potatoes, and rolls. Everyone loved the food and it was priced well! The price even included rentals! Highly highly recommend anyone to use On the Vine!!

On the Vine Catering just catered our new daughter-in-law and son’s wedding at Nella Terra Cellars and they were outstanding! The food was absolutely delicious and service was exemplary. They were easy to work with and covered every single detail so we never had to worry about anything. They have new and creative ideas and keep up with food trends while also knowing what works best for a sit down or a buffet. Many of our guests said it was the best food they had ever been served at a wedding and they are still calling to let us know. I highly recommend On the Vine.

We had a great experience with Jill Black and the On the Vine staff. Our guests are still telling us how much they enjoyed the food. Jill sat down with us before the wedding and was very helpful to figure out all the small details, and on the day of, we received our plates immediately for dinner and the entire team was responsive to our guests' needs. On The Vine Catering were professional and the food was great! Everyone at the wedding went back for seconds & thirds! They were so accommodating and helpful in any way that we needed. We received a ton of compliments about how good the food was from our guests. They were super easy to work with and guided us through the best way to serve food and drinks at our wedding. Jill also made sure our glasses were never empty - which is always a plus :)! We would recommend On The Vine Catering to anyone looking for an awesome team to work with and amazing food!

Had a fantastic experience with On the Vine Catering for our wedding in May 2017. Not only was the food delicious (and easily customizable to our particular tastes), but Jill Black sat down with us weeks before the wedding to walk us through many details we otherwise would have forgotten. She was timely and helpful in communicating with us throughout the process, and the day-of-event service was fantastic; all of the staff were very friendly, helpful, and skilled and everything went off without a hitch, including passed hors d’oeuvres, dinner, champagne pouring, bartending, and coffee service. A server even brought some hors d’oeuvres outside for the wedding party while we were taking pictures so we wouldn’t be hungry. Overall, very professional, friendly, and quality service. ---------- In response to some concerns mentioned in other reviews: We did not experience these issues, so perhaps they have actively taken steps to remedy them. Both Jill Black and the company owner were present at our event and greeted us. They did not throw away our leftover cake, and they were very conscious about serving the bride and groom dinner first and checking in frequently to see if we needed anything. As for wine, we did not have table wine service - people just got what they wanted from the bar, which worked better for our group because not everyone wanted to drink wine. However, everyone was served champagne for the toast, including the bride and groom.

This food... to die for!! The service, AMAZING! We couldn't have asked for more rave reviews from our guests.. in fact we didn't have to, they couldn't stop talking about how wonderful the food was!

On the Vine catered my wedding last month, and they were amazing to work with. From the beginning, I knew I had nothing to worry about as Jill was extremely responsive, organized, and personable. There were a number of different menu options and all at very reasonable prices. On the day of the wedding, the entire team did an excellent job. The tables were set beautifully, and the staff was very attentive and professional throughout the night. On top of that, the food was absolutely delicious! Our guests particularly loved the tri tip. My husband and I barely got to eat our meal during the wedding since we were being pulled in a million different places, but luckily, Emma (catering manager that night) boxed up a number of dishes, so we got to enjoy the leftovers the next day :) I would absolutely recommend this company. They really took a lot of the stress out of my wedding planning and were a pleasure throughout the entire process.

If hiring this company please beware of the following: 1) The main contact person who you have talked to and has "sold" you ( in our case Jill Black)will send a complete stranger to your wedding the day of the event. In our case the person representing "The Vine" did not have the courtesy to introduce himself/herself to us. To this day, we do not know who represented the catering company the day of our wedding. 2) At $56 a plate, "The Vine" threw away all our leftover food and our cake (which was not even catered by them). No one had the courtesy to ask us if we would like any of our left over food even though we saw them packaging it in food storage containers. 3) Our guests had to actually complain for the staff of "The Vine" to stop picking up glasses of wine that were MORE than half full every time they stood up to dance or went to talk to other guests. Read your contract well and have them put in writing that they will not make the mistakes I mentioned during your big day.

My recommendation for Cabana Dave’s (aka On the Vine) catering is to stay far away from them if you want to enjoy your wedding. Let me give you a list of reasons: 1. On the Vine will not have a familiar face at the venue on the day of the event. 2. No one from On the Vine will introduce themselves as being the representative for the On the Vine, so you will never know who to discuss issues with. 3. On the Vine will take multiple full glasses of wine from your table, costing you significantly more money on wine. Based on the number of complaints and the fact that it happened to the bride and groom at least 3 times, I would say that they wasted about 18 bottles of wine. At the average cost of about $50 per bottle, that is a whopping extra cost of $900. 4. The cake that you paid for and only had a small tasting of during the bride and groom cake cutting will be thrown away at the end of the night without ever asking you if it is ok. The bride and groom will never get a slice of cake as a result. 5. On the Vine will throw away all left over food from your buffet even when you paid $56 per person for it. So, when multiple people don’t show up for the wedding, you get to pay for the food that they either take home or throw away without you getting any say on the food that is rightfully yours. 6. The On the Vine servers will forget about the bride and groom table. People other than On the Vine will have to help the bride and groom with everything because there is no one from On the Vine serving the table. (did we mention that there was no cake served either and apparently the only time someone came to our table was when we weren’t sitting there and they stole full glasses of wine). 7. On the Vine will pour champagne for all tables except the bride and groom table. Then when toasts are beginning, the groom will have to yell for someone to fill their champagne glasses before toasts can begin. Talk about feeling awkward. 8. When you raise these horrible issues to Jill Black and Dave, the owner, they will repeatedly justify all of the above transgressions and try to convince you that some small gesture should be enough make you happy. They do not realize that this is a once in a lifetime event; there are no do overs and they cannot expect their customers to accept such shoddy service. For all of these reasons, you would be best served by avoiding Cabana Dave’s (aka On the Vine) catering. Or, if you use them, you better write quite a few additional requirements into your contract and have a lawyer on standby in order to defend your ground when the night goes awry.

The food was phenomenal. People couldn't stop raving about it - I highly recommend Jill and her team for any event! They are easy to work with, helped keep us on schedule, and brought us food and wine on our wedding day so we didn't have too. Beyond grateful for Jill's expertise, calmness, and willingness to be flexible with me! Plus the food is bomb.

On the vine did our catering for our wedding on May 1, 2015. I can not say enough about the job that Jill Black and her staff did. First I got a lot of compliments about the tri tip and how off the hook it was. Nobody had anything bad to say about any of the food but I got more compliments about the tri tip. Their coconut rice is also great. Jill also made sure that we got fed. She also set up the center pieces and a bunch of other things that weren't on her job description. I know on the vine is one of the reasons our guests said it was the best wedding they had ever attended.

On the Vine catered my wedding in Los Altos Hills in August. I absolutely LOVED working with Jill and the team, and because of their expertise I was completely at ease about the food and the flow of the event. Jill had worked at my venue, Hidden Villa Farm, several times before, and had excellent suggestions about the rentals to order, how to make sure the guests were comfortable and well fed and hydrated throughout the day, and where to set things up. Jill was so much more than a catering manager - she served as almost a second day-of coordinator! I was working with a wedding planner as well as a pretty involved on-site coordinator, and Jill was a great member of the team. Jill set up a time a couple months before our wedding for my fiance and I to taste the food, and it ended up being a very meaningful time for me and my fiance to take a few deep breaths and get excited about the food and our wedding day. Speaking of the food, it was delicious. We got the trip tip and jerk chicken, grilled veggies and garlic mashed potatoes, along with several appetizers. Everyone was very impressed with the food and I loved not having to worry about how the food would go over. The prices were extremely reasonable for the quality of service and food we received. I would recommend On the Vine to anyone for a wedding or other important event!

Jill from On The Vine was great to work with! Jill met with me and my husband many times before the wedding and was so patient with me as I changed my mind. The food was great and the service was just as good!!

If you are trying to plan a wedding quickly and want great food and excellent service then look no further. After speaking with a Wedding Planner - who HIGHLY RECOMMENDED Cabana Dave's, we called them up and scheduled a tasting. The tasting was casual in a relaxed atmosphere. The preparation was delicious. The food was amazing. The flavors were good and the food is locally sourced when possible. We found the staff at On The Vine Catering to be flexible and easy to work with. They helped us plan the layout of the venue on site. They were always accessible and helpful on the wedding day. They were reachable by phone to answer any questions before the big event. We worked with On The Vine to plan a customized Wedding Menu. We had many dietary restrictions to take into consideration (Vegan, Vegetarian, Gluten-free, Legume allergies, hardcore Omnivores, ...) so we wanted an eclectic menu. We were also on a tight budget. We worked with Jill to modify their regular menu items to meet the needs of our guests and our pocketbook. On the Vine Catering exceeded our expectations. Since my nephew is a chef, he also wanted to prepare some food himself. They were happy to accommodate him in the kitchen during the event. (Awesome!) Our vegan friends wanted to bring their own appetizers to ensure that there would be food they could eat without hesitation. (No problem!) They helped plate and serve the food. My mother-in-law is from France and wanted to supply her own French cheese selection. (Not an issue. They unwrapped and labeled the cheese and set them up in a great display!) Set up and clean up went smoothly. Jill's expertise really helped wedding planning go smoothly. We found their extraordinary service to be a great value. We would definitely use their services again - perhaps for our first anniversary party! :-)
