We had high hopes for our wedding photography and videography, but unfortunately, our experience fell short in several important ways.
The lead photographer’s demeanor was disappo...
inting. At times, she seemed frustrated and disengaged—rolling her eyes and sighing when guests didn’t line up quickly. While I understand weddings can be hectic, this made both us and our guests feel uncomfortable on what should have been a joyful day. When I asked for additional photo combinations due to guests leaving early because of the snowstorm, her response came across with noticeable attitude.
One of the most meaningful moments of the day—our first look—was not handled as requested. We were told it would be private, but instead, the entire wedding party was present. This made the moment feel rushed and awkward, and we didn’t get to truly enjoy it.
There were also several missed details and shots that were important to us. I had specifically requested photos with my veil but received none. We also had custom cocktail napkins and party favors that were never photographed. Additionally, one photographer was supposed to capture moments in the groom’s room but never went, resulting in missed opportunities—including a meaningful photo of the groom’s father helping him get ready.
While the overall photo quality is nice, there are noticeable technical issues in multiple images, such as crooked angles, off-center framing, and subjects being cut off. These are basic details we expected to be handled professionally.
The venue itself, particularly the marble staircase at the Kimpton Hotel, was a major reason we chose the location. However, only a small portion of photos were taken there, and when we asked for more, we were placed on side stairs with unflattering angles that did not highlight the space.
We also provided inspiration photos in advance, but many were not captured. Out of six key shots, only two were completed. Most notably, we did not receive a photo of me walking down the aisle with my dad with a glimpse of the groom—despite having time to capture it.
Lastly, while the videography team was kind and responsive, the video quality was extremely disappointing. I ultimately had to request the raw footage and seek editing elsewhere, which added unexpected cost and stress. Expectations around indoor video quality should have been communicated clearly beforehand. I would NOT recommend OLAS for video if you are doing an outdoor wedding. There is a reason all the videos on their website are outdoors. Photos are screenshots from the video to show the quality.

They sent along the portfolios of several photographers who were available to photograph our wedding, which was nice, as we could determine which styles and angles we related to the most. Geneva photographed both our engagement photoshoot and our wedding. We loved working with her. She has a very direct style, knows what looks good, and is matter-of-fact in getting through her shot list, something that comes in handy when photographing a big family. For our engagement shoot, she did a good job of capturing both us and the scene, directing our poses/action, and moving efficiently between shots so we ended up getting everything we wanted to do. During our reception, she did a great job of capturing individual moments and blending in with the crowd. On top of that, we really like how all our photos turned out! My fiance and I are in a long distance relationship and between that and the weather, our engagement session kept getting pushed back to the point I was concerned about getting Save the Dates out too late. (I remember it took my sister several months to get her wedding photos.) ith our guests all night long. During the day, we moved through our timeline so smoothly but never felt rushed in my special moments with my husband. We laughed, we cried, we danced- every moment was captured by them and we are so thankful! I was hoping that the weather would cooperate for some golden hour portraits- not only did Jeremy get the most BEAUTIFUL golden hour photos but he grabbed us just as the sun came peaking out of the clouds and got a few photos of us with my veil in the wind. I am OBSESSED with both sets of these portraits. I’ve already recommended OLAS to friends and family who are getting married.
