Best decision we could have made for our wedding photographer! Kelsey is an incredibly sweet, warm, outgoing, creative, and spirited person. I knew from the first time I emailed her that I would love her! My husband and I planned a wedding from Korea, so there was a lot of anxiety and apprehensiveness in choosing vendors and planning everything from so far away. However, once we chose Kelsey and One Oak Photography to capture our special day, I felt absolutely certain of the choice we made and also so EXCITED to meet and work with her as we approached our return to the U.S. and our wedding. Simply take one look at her work on her website, Facebook page, or Instagram account, and you'll see why! What I loved about Kelsey's work was that every wedding she shot was unique to the couple. When reviewing some photographer's work, I saw the same exact shots for multiple weddings. While these shots were gorgeous and the photographer's talent was no question, I was hoping for something MORE. Call me crazy, but I wanted to be able to look back at our wedding photos and actually FEEL what we were feeling in the moment, to see shots that capture who we are a couple and as a family, and to have a great mixture of both posed shots and those irreplaceable candid moments of laughter, tears, and surprises. If you look at Kelsey's work, you'll also notice she does an amazing job at capturing the scenery without taking away from the subject of the photo: you! We loved that she could balance these two things. Knowing that Kelsey had shot our venue previously was also a huge plus. It meant she knew the area, she knew where to get the best shots, and she probably knew the staff as well. I also knew that just because she had seen this venue before, didn't mean I'd get the same cookie-cutter photos as every other bride whose wedding was held at Mary's Lake Lodge. You could see her wheels turning as she thought of where we would do our "first look," where she would take detail shots, how she would pose us (or not)--she was always thinking ahead but somehow still capturing the little moments you thought only you noticed. We also paid for a second shooter, and Lauren was just as sweet. Both of these girls did a wonderful job of going unnoticed when they needed to be (during the ceremony, special dances, etc) and of stepping up and being assertive when needed (hello--family photos!) We could not have asked for a better person to share and capture our day, and we felt comfortable with and connected to Kelsey from the start. You will NOT be sorry you chose One Oak Photography!!
