Ono Kine Grindz

Ono Kine Grindz dazzled my Madison wedding two weeks ago! I am beyond thrilled to have leftovers but am even more thrilled with the service we received. Staff went above and beyond on my big day (helped cut the cake among other things I had no idea they would do!) and DEFINITELY brought the Aloha spirit. Food was incredibly, as expected, and we received many compliments from guests. A highlight of my day was watching my stepdaughter adorably struggling to eat with chopsticks (another thing they went above and beyond with in their place settings!) I highly recommend Ono Kine if you want great food and want to have zero worries on your wedding day.

Ono Kine Grindz exceeded our expectations in every way! Their staff has true Hawaiian "aloha" service and made our guests' experience so special. Every single person raved about the food! My husband and I moved to Wauwatosa from Honolulu, so we wanted to provide the most authentic Hawaiian cuisine we could find, and Ono Kine Grindz was just like being back on Oahu. We opted for a buffet line, and their team did an excellent job with set up and provided great service throughout the meal by helping explain the items to our guests and keeping the food replenished. Our menu included Teriyaki Sesame Chicken, Kalua Pig, Veggie Stir Fry wit Tofu, Purple Sticky Rice, Savory Macaroni Salad, and Lihing Carrot - Pineapple Slaw, plus several other items. Everyone loved everything! Guy and David - the owners - are a dream come true to work with. After my initial email request, they set up a tasting right away for a day that worked with my schedule and really took time to thoughtfully plan the menu with me and my husband. Every step of the way during the wedding planning process they were there with their ideas and support, and were quick to reply to any questions I emailed them. They took all the stress out of planning a meal for 180 people and just allowed me (and my family) to have fun and truly enjoy our special day. We love going to the restaurant/shop, too! We are a vegetarian, gluten free, dairy free couple, and there are wonderful options for us. They also have excellent tropical desserts that come in gluten free and dairy free versions, as well.

I can highly recommend David and Guy and Ono Kine Grindz for your wedding reception or any and all catering needs - big or small. I'm a foodie, so the selection of the caterer was the single most important decision for me, but to be honest, we also had a budget so we had to choose wisely. It was a total no brainer for me and my hubby-to-be! It had to be Ono Kine Grindz!! And David and Guy did a FANTABULOUS JOB catering our wedding. They provided not only excellent food for our guests on August 30th 2014, but they gave the gift of that Hawaiian family love to everyone. From the first meeting to go over the menu and our budget with Guy, to the day of the event -- everything went so smoothly. David and Guy were both so wonderful in how they responded to my numerous phone calls with changes to the menu, special dietary requests, modifications to the final head count and my own wedding jitters, David even made me sit down and relax and have a cup of Kona coffee with him. He reassured me that everything was going to be great and not to worry. And it was! It was! What caterer does that for a client? We served succulent Kalua Pig -- Hawaiian pulled BBQ pork, Char Siu chicken -- delectable tangy grilled boneless thighs, purple rice, kim chee, savory and lightly spiced macaroni salad, and a delicious carrot and pineapple slaw, plus a lovely vegetarian pasta salad for our vegetarian guests. They even made a lovely grilled seitan burger with mango salsa for a vegan friend. It smelled so good and tasted fabulous. Service was buffet style and yet the servers went above and beyond, clearing tables, asking people if they could bring them anything else. My friends and family are still talking about how awesome the food was, and the best thing about it is we still eat Ono Kine Grindz food and knowing we can anytime we want is such a gift! And we love stopping in to say hello to David and Guy and the rest of the team at OKG. It's so much more than just the food. Mahalo, David and Guy!

Ono Kine Grindz has mouthwatering food for extremely reasonable prices. My friends and family absolutely raved about the food both during and after the wedding. This food is especially good if you are looking for something different from the crappy/dry chicken breasts most caterers give you (this stuff is meant to stay fresh and tasty, even if traveling to your venue, or on a buffet), but not so different that grandma can't identify what she is eating. And the best part about Ono Kine Grindz is they are experienced caterers, so they are very easy to work with, and know what they are doing at large-scale events.
