I'm Joanna, the calligrapher of Order She Wrote! Very glad you popped by. I offer my skills for all the usual suspects: envelope addressing, place cards, I'll write names on just about anything and everything, and I can provide my handwriting (or, 'spot calligraphy') to an outside design house of your choice, should you already have found your stationer! If you have arrived here earlier in the process, I am an invitation designer as well, and together with my graphic designer and illustrator, we create menus, stationery and other paper goods for your wedding, special events...or just because. (If you are interested in invitation design, inquire within as spots are limited!)
When your day is drawing near, I am here to make your reception and party items even more special with handlettered place cards, escort cards, signage, maps, giftables, to engrave, and more!
I have a great love for the art of handlettering, and modern calligraphy. (Steady hands help, I suppose.) I am based out of NYC, but have roots in Washington DC, and Martha's Vineyard! No matter where you dwell, I can create something fun and beautiful for you.
Custom illustration is available as well, with my incredible in house artist, Tiffany Willey.
My styles vary from casual and chic, to folksy and whimsical, to elegant and flourished. I can create custom inks, and using a myriad of writing implements, work in harmony with your envisioned aesthetic to create a little more magic for your special day!

hired Order She Wrote in early 2020 to design the envelopes for my wedding invitations. Unfortunately, in the midst of designing the envelopes, the COVID pandemic hit and we had to postpone our wedding. Joanna was extremely accommodating and flexible throughout the entire process. A silver lining during our postponement was that I gained another year to dream up projects to work with Joanna on! By the time our wedding finally came around in September 2021, she had not only designed our wedding invitation envelopes, but had also designed our seating chart (on recycled glass jugs!), escort cards, signage, bridesmaid gifts (utilizing her embroidery skills!) and so much more. Everything came together beautifully and we have received a ton of compliments - especially on our wedding invitations! Now that the wedding is over, I am thinking of non-wedding related projects to start just so I can continue working with Joanna :)

op here and hire Joanna. In retrospect, hiring Joanna was absolutely one of my best wedding choices. Joanna worked seamlessly with my invitation designer/letterpress company in order to put together the most fabulous invitation suite, which was in no small part thanks to Joanna’s calligraphy (used both throughout the letterpressed suite and full envelope addressing). When the pre-wedding tasks ramped up, Joanna proved to be upbeat and a breath of fresh air. Mind you, she had just gotten engaged herself when she excitedly took on the task of hand-lettering 250+ French Bulldog shaped escort cards and a variety of other tasks, and completed each quickly. Joanna was also consistently communicative, flexible, and her work product was flawless. I cannot recommend Order She Wrote highly enough!
