Meet Patricia Johnson
Patricia Johnson’s passion for “all things floral” can be traced back to her time spent in NYC attending The Fashion Institute of Technology. Patricia spent significant time wandering the streets of the Flower Market which was very close to her school
The visual and sensual stimulation served as an inspiration for her work in fashion design, as well as a haven amongst nature when she was missing her hometown in Bethlehem Pennsylvania, where she was born and raised. Patricia continued in the fashion industry for many years working for some of the top Designers in the fashion world. Flowers became a constant source of inspiration, traveling through Europe and Asia fueled her interest in flowers and gardening at home became a personal passion. Arranging and growing flowers for special occasions for family and friends quickly became routine and was very fulfilling creatively. The connection between fashion and flowers began to merge and on a trip to Antigua while attending a Floral Workshop in 2019 the message became clear. Patricia’s connections to the NYC Flower Market has given her knowledge and a place to purchase unique florals and greenery from the best sources in the world.
“House of Flowers” , another staple slogan of our company is an ode to Patricia’s background in the fashion industry. Patricia’s expertise in color, shape and texture is a cornerstone of their business. .

After our first call, I sent Patricia a vision board with what I had in mind– a rustic, fairytale setting with hints of coral. She went above and beyond by having all of the bud vases shipped to her house and offering to reuse flowers from the ceremony at the reception, which helped us save money without sacrificing the look we wanted.
Because our venue was far from her home, Patricia even stayed in a nearby hotel the night before to make sure everything went smoothly. The flowers were exactly what I had envisioned, and we received so many compliments throughout the weekend! I loved telling people they were local, which we appreciated as environmentalists.
I loved the flowers so much I just couldn’t leave them at the venue! We took not just some but ALL the bud vases at the dinner reception on our honeymoon after letting the guests take their fill!

In the beginning, I wasn’t sure exactly what I wanted but after a few questions from Patty about my likes/dislikes, the ideas started flowing! As time grew closer I created a Pinterest board to share with Patty and she then created a vision board based on my preferences. Our time together (either in person or via phone) was never rushed and they were always available to discuss any changes or updates throughout the planning process. Prior to the wedding, Patty and Maggie met us at the venue to see the space and go over certain details of the wedding (e.g. table settings, free standing structures, etc.). Ornithea even had options to rent candles and votives for the tables which was so convenient! Having to purchase and transport these on my own would have been a hassle. On the day of the event, Patty and Maggie arrived very early to set up. All of the florals looked better than I could have imagined. From the whimsical rose covered free standing towers that we stood in between to say “I do”, the hanging vine installation above the center of the dance floor, to the intimate table settings with candle votives, and finally my beautiful bridal bouquet, each piece carefully crafted by Ornithea was breathtakingly gorgeous. I would definitely recommend them for your special event!

Patty took the time to go to the flower market with my mother and me, to see the kind of flowers that I'd like. She knew the name of every single flower and I was so impressed. She let me know which flowers would be in season and had great recommendations.
Patty and Maggie were very understanding too. I explained to them my situation and our budget and they were accommodating with helping us stay on track with it.
Leading up to the wedding, Patty put together a vision board, we talked over the phone multiple times, because she wanted to ensure my vision would come to life, and WOW, it all looked extraordinary. On the day of the wedding, she cut some bleeding hearts from her personal garden and included the stems in my bouquet since she knew the sentimental value they hold to me (they were my grandmother's favorite) both my mom and I were holding our tears in.
