About this vendor
Centrally located on campus, Our Lady of Mercy Chapel realizes the long-held dream of the many Sisters of Mercy who have served Salve Regina. Consecrated in 2010, the chapel allows graduates and community members to celebrate their weddings on campus in a religious setting.
Designed by award-winning architect Robert A.M. Stern, the chapel’s stone and shingle exterior complements the historic architecture of Salve Regina’s Ochre Point neighborhood. Features include a set of 13 leaded opalescent glass windows created by renowned artist John La Farge and a bell tower housing three 1910 bells cast by the Meneely Bell Company.
Current affiliation to the University is not necessary to reserve a Catholic ceremony provided dates are available.

Searching for a Catholic chapel in Newport as an out of towner is not easy. I am so glad we landed with Our Lady of Mercy. The coordinator, Diane, helped us get a time in a busy wedding season and was incredibly helpful in the process leading up to the wedding. She was very organized and helpful in coordinating parking, photos, etc. The chapel itself is stunning, and we worked with the musicians there who were also wonderful. We were not Salve alumni but it was important to us to find an open, welcoming Catholic community in Newport at which to perform this sacrament, and Our Lady of Mercy was the perfect fit.
Our Lady of Mercy is a beautiful chapel to have a wedding and the grounds are amazing too. It’s nice how the pews surround the altar so no one feels too far. Everyone who we worked with at the chapel was very friendly and responsive. They let you take photos at Ochre Court if it’s not being used that day but they only let you put in a request 30 days before the wedding. Unfortunately, we didn’t get to take photos there because we weren’t willing to wait that long only to be told no and not have anywhere else. The only other thing is that the coordinator stood at the door as my dad and I walked down the aisle so she is in all of our photos. But overall we are really blessed that we were able to have our ceremony here.
Absolutely loved our wedding at Ochre Court. Our guests were in awe of the venue and it's beauty. The coordinator I worked with ended up unavailable for the weekend of my wedding and her replacement was horrible. Yelling at guests arriving too early, yelling at musicians, who were Salve alum. Poor showing of leadership, and could not relinquish control to my bridal party, who had practiced their entrances. Besides that, a great venue!
