Karissa is so talented and made us feel very comfortable in front of the camera for both our engagement shoot and wedding day. Everyone I’ve talked to from our special day said that she navigated the wedding perfectly and hardly saw her (so important). Her photography style captured the essence of our fall wedding better than we could have ever asked for. We highly recommend booking and trusting Out of Twig!

How can I give more than 5 stars! Karissa is not only a very talented photographer but also a stunning person! We did a mini engagement session with her and immediately feel in love with her style! Day of the wedding (even though we were behind schedule) she remained calm, confident and displayed great leadership to get through all shots we wanted! One of the shots we were so married to (no pun intended) was “golden hour” pictures… and even though family pictures went over she made sure to keep us on track to make those pictures - and we are so thankful!!! Our teaser pictures came from those and they were everything we hoped for!! Wedding photography can feel stressful… you feel like you are being pulled in every direction, forced smiles and herding family feels like herding cats… not with Karissa and her husband… they have a gentle guiding voice that prompts you through each thing, they stay fun and lively to help you give natural smiles and they were very patient with our huge family with nine flower girls and ring bearers!! It was also very helpful that they let us just naturally be us… she didn’t try putting us in poses that felt forced, instead she would give simple instruction to get us in the direction of what she was looking for then gave us the space to make it our own! Another special moment of our day is that we added a last dance - just my husband and I (and Karissa) in the space - we kind-of surprised her with it, but she was all for it! She was a wonderful addition to our day and we are so stinking excited to see our wedding pictures!!!

12/10 would recommend Out of Twig Photography for any and all photography needs in VA! They were one of the first vendors I booked for my engagement photos and wedding, and I'm SO happy with how everything has turned out! Karissa and Jeremy are an absolute joy to work with -- they are both extremely kind and down to earth, and also super professional. It's easy to tell they love what they do, and that is reflected in the beautiful photos you get as a result! Our engagement shoot was in the Blue Ridge Mountains, and it was a bit more overcast and windier than we were hoping for a Labor Day weekend shoot. But Karissa made the most of the lighting and weather conditions and was able to create some stunning shots for us! We also ended up having rain (aka a hurricane) on our wedding day, but Karissa and Jeremy were absolute troopers and were out in the rain, directing family, bridesmaids, bride and groom etc. to make sure they were able to capture each special moment I wanted to remember from the day. They made the most of the somewhat limited photo locations at our venue since we couldn't be outside for long, but they still delivered the most amazing photos that were better than I could have ever expected! I cannot thank Karissa and Jeremy enough for everything, and I'm so glad I was able to work with them and get to know them! :)

Karissa & Jeremy were nothing short of amazing. They were great at giving direction, and very patient. They captured all of our special moments with family and friends, and we are so happy to have found them for our special day!

Karissa and Jeremy are phenomenal to work with, and their photography is so dreamy. We felt comfortable with them and our resulting photos capture all the laughter and joy of the day. Karissa and Jeremy really went above and beyond to make sure our wedding day went smoothly, including calling in a backup photographer last minute to make sure we had enough coverage. They even drove me and the groom to our reception when our trolley left us after wedding portraits! I can't wait to book another session with them some day in the future.

From the first e-mail with Karissa she made it so we never had to worry. I always knew our photography was taken care of. She was laid back and easy-going, making it feel like you had known her for years. Karissa and Jeremy at Out of Twig deserve a medal. We have worked with them for both our engagement pictures and our wedding and OH MY GOD THEY ARE AMAZING. My husband and I are very awkward in front of the camera. Actually, we’re very awkward not in front of a camera too. Karissa’s magic made us look like professional models. They blended in perfectly to us getting ready before the wedding and I forgot they were even there at the wedding, but the pictures they captured are unbelievable. I can’t wait to use them again in the future.

We absolutely love our engagement photos! My fiancé doesn’t love having his picture taken, but Karissa had a calming presence which made the whole experience enjoyable for us. Karissa was an amazing wedding photographer. We did an engagement session with her as well as our wedding day and she far exceeded our expectations. I am SO late in posting this praise for Karissa but at least it’s before our first anniversary! I was nervous about how the process would go since I have a tendency to be less than serious in photos. But Karissa’s sweet, laid-back spirit made it not only easy, but fun. She is professional and rolled with things even when I got ruffled. She has a clear vision and knows how to execute it. She seems to genuinely love what she’s doing and that increases your own enjoyment of the experience. I love looking at our photos and I’m glad we were able to have her as the one documenting this wonderful day for us.

We loved working with Karissa and her team! They were very quick and easy with communication leading up to our wedding and they arrived punctually on the day of our wedding. She was very flexible and patient with us, trying to get every moment captured from our beautiful day. She was sweet, kind, and jumped right in to all of the festivities while capturing our favorite moments. Once she finished editing the pictures and sent them to us, we were so satisfied and happy with them. Karissa is awesome at what she does and she is super comfortable to work with. My fiance and I had some ideas for our photo shoot and Karissa welcomed them all and even made them better. She also is a very creative photographer and knows what will work and what wont when it comes to posing and backgrounds. We did the two hour shoot and got about 200 pictures. She is a great editor as well and her style is perfect for us. We are very happy with the whole process and the final product. Highly recommend.

We just received our engagement photos back from Karissa and could not be more pleased! Karissa made the process painless, even with a fiance who is not a huge fan of having his picture taken :) She told us exactly what to do, was flexible about location and timing, and even fixed my hair for me when necessary (which I loved)! We had a huge wedding party, and she had no problems wrangling individuals and groups, all with a very calm, patient manner. My husband is not a big fan of having his picture taken, but he felt comfortable with Karissa. Karissa is creative, but also willing and eager to listen to what you want. Karissa did an awesome job taking our wedding styled anniversary pictures. I have always regretted never having professional photos for our wedding done so I decided to remedy that and could not be more pleased with the results! If I could offer one piece of advice for brides it would be ensure you have a great photographer.

Karissa is an amazing photographer! She made my husband and I feel so comfortable. The poses she had us to felt very natural. My husband said that he only wanted Karissa to take his picture because of how good she made him look. My husband HATES taking pictures, but said that Karissa was able to make him forget about the camera and just have fun! :) I strongly recommend using Karissa.
