So tasty! We had cupcakes and a cake to cut and two cake toppers were used, one for the cake and one for the cupcakes! We loved the set up!!
Jeremy and Karissa from Out of Twig were fantastic, professional, easy to work with, and incredibly talented! Our wedding photos turned out stunning. On our wedding day, they seaml...
essly managed our schedule while maintaining a calm and reassuring presence for us and our guests. Shooting with them was a blast, and they even coached our 3-year-old nephew into helping with the cake-cutting photos. They consistently went above and beyond and we couldn’t have asked for a better experience! 10/10 would recommend hiring them.
We had an amazing experience with Karissa and the pictures turned out better than I could have hoped for!!! 10/10 recommend!!!
We couldn't be happier with our choice of wedding photographer. Karissa and Jeremy took our engagement and wedding photos. They made us feel comfortable being in front of the camer...
a right away. It rained everyday leading up to the wedding day, even the day of right before our first look and Karissa always had a plan B in mind. She really calmed my nerves. The engagement photos and previews to our wedding album are stunning and I can't wait to see the rest of the our photos.
My wife and I were so fortunate to have Out of Twig take our engagement and wedding day photos. All of our photos are amazing! They make us smile every time we go through them. The...
quality, colors, and shots are perfect! The engagement photos were fun and turned out beautifully so we knew our wedding day was going to be captured with the same professional talent. Karissa helped us feel easy and relaxed in front of the camera. Just an all around nice person who consistently went out of her way to make sure we were satisfied and pleased with everything before the wedding in the planning, during the big day, and afterwards. She also made sure we got all the posed photos we requested plus capturing candid or important moments. She and her husband are a great team! We would recommend them to anyone for any event but especially weddings:)
Karissa and Jeremy are the absolute best to work with!! We were lucky enough to get to work with them for both our engagement photos and our wedding and they are talented, professi...
onal, and just all around pleasant to be around. Not to mention, most importantly, the quality of their photos!! I love the way that Karissa uses light in her photos to frame our faces and captures more natural/candid than posed photos. We had trouble deciding what photos to use for our save the dates and invites because we loved so many of them.
During my wedding prep and ceremony I was feeling anxious and Karissa was always nearby with a smile and genuinely seems like she enjoys her job. Her and Jeremy both have a calming presence together that allows you to feel more natural in front of the camera. I would recommend working with Out of Twig to every bride I can!!
Thank you for everything, Jeremy and Karissa!

hat she navigated the wedding perfectly and hardly saw her (so important).
Her photography style captured the essence of our fall wedding better than we could have ever asked for. We highly recommend booking and trusting Out of Twig!
How can I give more than 5 stars! Karissa is not only a very talented photographer but also a stunning person! We did a mini engagement session with her and immediately feel in lov...
e with her style! Day of the wedding (even though we were behind schedule) she remained calm, confident and displayed great leadership to get through all shots we wanted! One of the shots we were so married to (no pun intended) was “golden hour” pictures… and even though family pictures went over she made sure to keep us on track to make those pictures - and we are so thankful!!! Our teaser pictures came from those and they were everything we hoped for!!
Wedding photography can feel stressful… you feel like you are being pulled in every direction, forced smiles and herding family feels like herding cats… not with Karissa and her husband… they have a gentle guiding voice that prompts you through each thing, they stay fun and lively to help you give natural smiles and they were very patient with our huge family with nine flower girls and ring bearers!!
It was also very helpful that they let us just naturally be us… she didn’t try putting us in poses that felt forced, instead she would give simple instruction to get us in the direction of what she was looking for then gave us the space to make it our own! Another special moment of our day is that we added a last dance - just my husband and I (and Karissa) in the space - we kind-of surprised her with it, but she was all for it! She was a wonderful addition to our day and we are so stinking excited to see our wedding pictures!!!
12/10 would recommend Out of Twig Photography for any and all photography needs in VA! They were one of the first vendors I booked for my engagement photos and wedding, and I'm SO ...
happy with how everything has turned out! Karissa and Jeremy are an absolute joy to work with -- they are both extremely kind and down to earth, and also super professional. It's easy to tell they love what they do, and that is reflected in the beautiful photos you get as a result! Our engagement shoot was in the Blue Ridge Mountains, and it was a bit more overcast and windier than we were hoping for a Labor Day weekend shoot. But Karissa made the most of the lighting and weather conditions and was able to create some stunning shots for us! We also ended up having rain (aka a hurricane) on our wedding day, but Karissa and Jeremy were absolute troopers and were out in the rain, directing family, bridesmaids, bride and groom etc. to make sure they were able to capture each special moment I wanted to remember from the day. They made the most of the somewhat limited photo locations at our venue since we couldn't be outside for long, but they still delivered the most amazing photos that were better than I could have ever expected! I cannot thank Karissa and Jeremy enough for everything, and I'm so glad I was able to work with them and get to know them! :)
Karissa & Jeremy were nothing short of amazing. They were great at giving direction, and very patient. They captured all of our special moments with family and friends, and we are ...

ay. Karissa and Jeremy really went above and beyond to make sure our wedding day went smoothly, including calling in a backup photographer last minute to make sure we had enough coverage. They even drove me and the groom to our reception when our trolley left us after wedding portraits! I can't wait to book another session with them some day in the future.

She and Jeremy made us feel comfortable in front of the camera, and our guests were also impressed with how smoothly and inconspicuously they worked throughout the wedding day. had known her for years. I worried that our DIY wedding that ended up happening on a day full of downpours would make it difficult to capture the little moments and details. Karissa exceeded my expectations in every way. Nothing was missed.

ry awkward in front of the camera. Actually, we’re very awkward not in front of a camera too. Karissa’s magic made us look like professional models. They blended in perfectly to us getting ready before the wedding and I forgot they were even there at the wedding, but the pictures they captured are unbelievable. I can’t wait to use them again in the future.

d helped us work through a list of shots we wanted. During the ceremony and after, she and her second photographer were never in the way and managed to capture every shot we wanted and many that we didn't know we wanted! She worked in creative ways with the spaces we had to get shots that maximized the beauty of the architecture and made us look good in the process. We are extremely happy with the service we received and the quality of the final product. Working with Karissa was a stress-free experience, and we highly recommend Out of Twig photography!

I am SO late in posting this praise for Karissa but at least it’s before our first anniversary! I was nervous about how the process would go since I have a tendency to be less than...
serious in photos. But Karissa’s sweet, laid-back spirit made it not only easy, but fun. She is professional and rolled with things even when I got ruffled. She has a clear vision and knows how to execute it. She seems to genuinely love what she’s doing and that increases your own enjoyment of the experience. I love looking at our photos and I’m glad we were able to have her as the one documenting this wonderful day for us.

s very flexible and patient with us, trying to get every moment captured from our beautiful day. She was sweet, kind, and jumped right in to all of the festivities while capturing our favorite moments. Once she finished editing the pictures and sent them to us, we were so satisfied and happy with them. They were way above my expectations for what a wedding album should look like and I can't think of anything she could have left out from our special day. I would recommend Out of Twig 10/10. She is, by far, one of the best photographers I've ever worked with and we are so happy we chose her to capture our beautiful day.

UPDATE! (After wedding)
From beginning to end, Karissa was WONDERFUL. She was organized and thoughtful through the planning process, and made us feel very comfortable throughout. She coordinated with our wedding planner leading up to the wedding and on the day of, and even gave our wedding planner a template for her clean and clear timeline! She also hand delivered my card to the groom :)
Her photos are gorgeous - I have received many, many compliments on our wedding and engagement photos. She works with the light in such a unique way, it's beautiful. Her style is timeless and she is amazing to work with. We had a huge wedding party, and she had no problems wrangling individuals and groups, all with a very calm, patient manner. My husband is not a big fan of having his picture taken, but he felt comfortable with Karissa. Karissa is creative, but also willing and eager to listen to what you want.
I highly recommend Karissa - you won't regret it!

Karissa provided us with the BEST engagement and wedding photography! Before my husband and I saw the pictures, I could not have imagined just how gorgeous they would turn out, but...
they are stunning. I had so many people asking "WHO did these?!!" and another bride-to-be's mother wanted to book her on the spot. I'm not kidding when I say that I still look at them every day. They're on my walls, my desk, my phone and laptop screensaver.
Professionally, she provides top notch service, very reasonably priced, detailed on what you want to capture, and the creativity to capture what you didn't even know was there. A five-star rating doesn't even come close to what she and her team can do!
