Greek families like mine live by a simple value: filotimo (φιλότιμο). Filotimo is caring for others. It's making them feel welcomed, and treating them like part of our family. For almost 20 years, filotimo drove our family to serve loyal customers at Ouzo Cafe in Downtown Milwaukee. The restaurant began with my Grandmother's (Yiayia's) treasured Greek recipes, passed down through generations of our family. But Ouzo Cafe paired those recipes with filotimo - and became a place where family, friends, and neighbors gathered to share meals and create lasting memories. Through the years, our family had the privilege of watching guests celebrate milestones, reconnect with loved ones, and experience the warmth of Greek food and filotimo within our restaurant. Growing up, some of my own favorite memories were made in the kitchen. I remember cooking with my Yiayia and Mom, watching them meticulously make the family recipes enjoyed by generations before us. Those experiences shaped who I am and inspired my vision for Ouzo Cafe Catering. I wanted to bring our family's recipes, and our value of filotimo, straight to the homes and businesses of our treasured customers. Ouzo Cafe Catering provides the same fresh, authentic Greek flavors we served each day at our restaurant. Every recipe reflects years of perfection, and our commitment to sharing our Greek culture and love of others with our clients.
