Ovation String Quartet - Best of Weddings 2018 and 2019

Ovation was absolutely fantastic! From the start of the process, they were responsive, willing to work with me, and even took a special requests. Everyone loved the music and they sounded beautiful. I would highly recommend!!!!!

We were blown away by the amazing job that Ovation did at our wedding. We had to reschedule our wedding 2x due to COVID, so we had a lot of time to decide on music! Laurie was super responsive and went above and beyond to compose several custom arrangements for our pre-wedding music. She and her team also composed Somewhere Only We Know by Lily Allen for my bridal processional, which was absolutely magical and everything I dreamed of when I walked down the aisle. Highly recommend for any event if you are looking for talented musicians who are able to take your special day to the next level!

Ovation String Quartet played at our ceremony. They played a mix of classical, traditional Catholic hymns, and current pop. We asked a lot and they performed it all amazingly! It was magical to have them perform and we are so grateful for them. It was easy to book, plan, and communicate which made the process even better. I highly recommend booking them at your wedding or next event.

Laurie and the rest of Ovation String Quartet were a joy to work with. They were extremely accommodating and kind when we had to postpone our wedding due to the pandemic. When our amended wedding date finally arrived, our guests very much enjoyed the wide range of music that they offered, from the traditional wedding march to the Beatles to the White Stripes; and they worked with us to select music that was a reflection of my husband and I. A memory I will never forget is during the hustle and bustle of the cake cutting they cued up "Grow Old With You" from the movie the Wedding Singer, which is a favorite of ours' and a request that they took time to master during the postponement. Ovation String Quartet played a large part in making our wedding day lovely and I couldn't recommend them more!

Ovation String Quartet was absolutely wonderful! They played at my daughter's wedding and during the cocktail hour, adding the couple's requests to their playlist. I could have listened to them all night. The guests raved about them as well. Like so many, our daughter's wedding was postponed in 2020. Laurie was great to work with throughout this time as well as when the wedding was rescheduled. She was very professional and kept in communication with us throughout 2020-2021. This was so reassuring & definitely made me realize how fortunate we were to have Ovation String Quartet as part of my daughter's big day.

I'm a classically trained and degreed musician and am very happy I found Ovation to play for my wedding. Laurie was incredibly responsive and helpful in discussing repertoire, They were also very flexible considering we had to reschedule our wedding TWICE due to COVID. It's always been a dream of mine to have a string quartet at my wedding and the Ovation String Quartet did the perfect job fulfilling that dream! The group has a large repertoire which was nice to narrow down to exact pieces my wife and I wanted (and the group was very accommodating to new pieces and arrangements). The group was exceptionally punctual and can masterfully improvise as was the case when our short 30 second unity ceremony ended up being several minutes due to weather 😁. The quartet did an excellent job and I cannot recommend them enough!

The Ovation String Quartet played prelude and ceremony music for our August 2021 and they were absolutely amazing. The quartet performed with perfection and never missed a cue, making the whole presentation seamless. Their communication while coordinating our arrangement was impeccable as well, not to mention the two slightly unique songs they customized for our ceremony. My husband teared up just from listening to the digitalized version of his walk out song! I 100% recommend Ovation String Quartet to anyone looking for live string music during their wedding or any other special celebration.

Ovation provided a beautiful soundtrack to our wedding. We had the full quartet for both the ceremony and cocktail hour. We loved their huge selection of rock and pop songs which made it difficult to pick which of our favorites we wanted to hear! Laurie was very easy to work with and communication was great. We were blown away that they learned our song and played it as we walked down the aisle! Very talented and professional. We would highly recommend!

We had the String Duo (violin and cello) play at our garden ceremony. Laurie and her partner were wonderful and made the ceremony so beautiful with their music! We had guest size of 100 and the duo was perfect. We were worried about the rain but worked it out with Laurie and found a canopy for cover so that they could play. It worked out great. Our guests loved the live instrumental music! I walked down the aisle to Beauty and the Beast's Tale As Old As Time and it was beautiful. I just wished I had walked slower to hear more of it! :)

Ovation String Quartet was one of our highlights of our day! We added them in as a last minute choice and are so grateful we did! We are continuing to get compliments two weeks later. Ovation String Quartet really did an absolutely beautiful job playing our ceremony, cocktail hour, and brunch reception. They are so organized and everything ran smoothly. There is so much room for customization to make your special day special for you. Outside of our ceremony we didn't have a lot of specifics we wanted so they did a great job making a set that created the perfect atmosphere for our day. Our officiant already asked for their contact info to recommend them to other couples he has! My mom felt pretty strongly about having live music and she couldn't have been more right, especially since we had a morning ceremony in a historic mansion and didn't want a dance party, a string quartet was the perfect fit and Laurie and her team knocked it out of the park!

For my wedding day I always envisioned the day being elegant and regal. Ovation String Quartet really helped to set the tone for my wedding ceremony. The planning process was super easy. Laurie sent us a checklist around the 6-month mark, and it was straight forward. My fiancé and I had a great time opening a bottle of wine and Youtubing their expansive music collection available. Our guests really enjoyed listening to the strings and we got tons of compliments all night about how lovely it was. It was a great topic with our guests and we really enjoyed hearing what was our guests’ favorite songs. I would highly recommend the ensemble to anyone looking for some strings for their wedding.

I hired Ovation String Quarter for my daughter’s wedding in August 2019. As soon as I got in touch with them, it was easy sailing . Laurie was absolutely great to work with, any questions I had got responses back immediately. They were on time and played beautifully! The cherry on top to my ceremony! Ovation is so professional, and elevated each moment of the ceremony higher than I can accurately describe on here! Their music was BEAUTIFUL and they even worked with my friend to accompany her as she sang “Ave Maria.” Ovation brought an element to the ceremony that I will constantly talk about when it comes to what made our day so incredibly special. My dad and I listened before they opened the doors for us to walk down the aisle, and we were blown away by what we heard. There was not a dry eye in the church! They are amazing and I highly recommend them!

Working with The Ovation String Quartet was one of my favorite parts of the wedding planning process! I loved selecting songs from the huge repertoire of music and Laurie was incredibly helpful and responsive to my emails. I had a Jewish wedding and it was so great meeting with Laurie to discuss our ceremony and the symbolism behind some of the songs we chose. She did an incredible job of arranging the song I requested and everything flowed perfectly! I still get a little choked-up remembering walking down the aisle to the beautiful music of Pachelbel Canon and all my friends and family standing up around me. Working with Ovation String Quartet was by far one of my best wedding decisions and I would recommend them to anyone who wants to have both beautiful music and warm and friendly musicians part of their wedding day.

They were very responsive and professional. They had a huge list of sings they can play and we added a handful to learn. They played everything we wanted. It was perfect!

I loved every interaction I had with Ovation String Quartet. We actually hired Sonare String Quartet (who are partnered with Ovation). I worked with both Kristyn and Laurie and absolutely loved working with them. I felt so confident with their ability (I saw them both perform prior to our wedding). We received so many compliments on them. Our guests said walking in and hearing their music made them feel like they were in a wedding out of a fairytale. Their music and ability is beautiful and they were so accommodating. I selected a few songs that weren't on their song list and they were so happy to learn a new song. I was worried about the song I selected for my bridal procession (different than the bridal party) because I thought I would be down the aisle before the song even picked up - I didn't even mention it to them and they came up with the idea to shorten the song so that by the time I was walking down the aisle, they were already in the chorus. I'm bummed that I didn't get to hang out and listen to them during the prelude (since I was hidden from all the guests). Having them at our wedding was such a great touch and they did such a beautiful job. I highly highly highly recommend them. They were one of our few vendors that I never worried about and didn't feel like they needed any direction because they were SO professional and experienced. HIRE THEM!!!

Laurie and Ovation String Quartet were so wonderful to work with! I knew I wanted a friend of mine to sing a specific hymn during our ceremony. Laurie worked with him to arrange the piece for free (I think you get an arrangement or two as part of your contract) and though they only got to rehearse with them just before the ceremony started, sounded incredible!! they are also extremely flexible, offering to do a trio instead of a quartet to better fit my budget. You won't notice much as you walk down the aisle, but I distinctly remember Ovation's beautiful music!

Ovation played contemporary music for our ceremony, including a specific song requested by us. They were fantastic and we received so many compliments about how wonderful the music was. Thank you Laurie and team for providing the perfect ceremony music!!

Ovation/Sonare strings were great to work with and the music they placed was gorgeous. Laurie was so amazing to work with and she answered all of my questions quickly and helped me make custom arrangements! When they arrived to the venue, they said they needed shade. I was only told they needed chairs without arms. This placed stress on the venue coordinator to find something, as if she didn’t have enough going on. The week before my wedding I made sure that all they needed was chairs without arms and they confirmed this. It was just stress on the venue coordinator. I think they could have sent a reminder email the week of the wedding as all other vendors did. Again, gorgeous music and I would recommend them hands down. Just remember they need a shaded area if your wedding is outdoors.

We could not have been any happier with Ovation! The music was beautiful and brought tears to my eyes. Laurie was amazing to work with and made our ceremony music dreams come true! Ovation also made an arrangement for me to walk down with my dad to and it was perfect! Thank you for making our ceremony even more beautiful!

We had ovation string quartet at our wedding last weekend at Mayowood Stone Barn in Rochester. We weren’t allowed to have a live band because of city ordinances so we knew we had to have some sort of live music! We had ovation play 30 min before our ceremony through the end of cocktail hour. We had a mix of classic and contemporary and they nailed it all! They were so professional and also extremely talented! I couldn’t recommend them more!

We were beyond happy with Ovation String Quartet!!! They did the ceremony music and cocktail hour music at our wedding. Simply put it was perfect. Laurie was so easy and efficient to work with, and very accommodating of our request for them to accompany a French Horn soloist during our ceremony. Short version: Stop searching and book them. Long version: We're extremely satisfied with Ovation String Quartet as our choice for ceremony strings. The group is professional and talented. Laurie is flexible, responsive, and a pleasure to work with. Given enough lead time, she can accommodate pretty much any request you may have. In addition, their rates are significantly more reasonable than some of their local competitors. If strings are a "must-have" at your event--as they were at ours--we simply can't recommend this group more highly. Our only gripe is that we didn't get to enjoy their performance until it was our time to walk down the aisle :) They often have public performances where you can check them out before booking, which I'd recommend if for no other reason than for a nice afternoon date. Even if you don't get a chance to see them in person first, you can book with confidence. I think they were one of the most worthwhile investments of our wedding and I'm confident you'll feel the same.

Ovation String Quartet was the perfect addition to our ceremony and cocktail hour! We hired a trio (just in order to save a little money) for 1 hour & 45 minutes. They sounded AMAZING! We chose all modern songs for our wedding ceremony (Just The Way You Are -Bruno Mars, All Of Me -John Legend, etc.) and it made our ceremony extra special. Hearing those songs being played was really memorable for us and several guests commented that they sounded great with all of the songs! The price, song repertoire list, organization and execution were all 5/5 and I would recommend them to anyone else looking for great ceremony musicians!

Ovation was a wonderful addition to our ceremony! They are professional and organized, so on the day of my wedding I never once spoke to them but they were on top of it and perfect. On such a busy day, it's really nice that they don't need additional instructions or directions and you can focus on other things. They followed along with my pastor during the ceremony and it seemed like they had practiced with us several times, although it was the first time we did the ceremony with them. Hiring Ovation's string quartet was the best decision we made for our ceremony. Our families, bridal party, and guests absolutely loved the music and we heard so many great compliments–professional, beautiful music for the setting, great timing when walking down the aisle (my entrance was exactly at the point in the song I was hoping for, without even asking), and so much more! The songs played during the prelude made many guests cry, that's how beautiful it was. Compared to other quartets, Ovation is a great price, very professional, and has a HUGE repertoire list; from classical to contemporary, jazz to folk, they can play it. I hired them only two weeks out from my wedding, and Laurie responded right away and we breezed through the process. My only wish is that I would have hired them sooner, that way we could have had up to two songs arranged just for us at no extra cost! If you're looking for something to take your ceremony from good to great, hire Ovation. Highly recommended to anyone!!

The music was beautiful! Laurie was great and spent time with me picking out the perfect music! She also found me a wonderful singer for our wedding. I can't say enough good things about her. She was also very reasonably priced! I would recommend them for your wedding!

Laurie was fantastic to work with- she replied promptly to questions and had great tips for designing our ceremony! We had the trio play during our wedding and received many compliments on their performance. We requested an arrangement for Fireflies by Owl City, a song that holds a special meaning to my husband and I, and the trio exceeded our expectations. Highly recommend!

We booked Ovation String Quartet to play at our wedding ceremony this July. Laurie was a pleasure to work with, and although she was on vacation during our wedding, she was always very quick to correspond to emails and took the time to compose three special songs for us at no extra cost that were not on the quartet's repertoire list! Although I only got to hear the quartet during the processional and the recessional, they sounded wonderful and made our wedding very special. My only wish is that I could have heard more of the music!

For our procession, I requested a song not included on their repertoire list -- Laurie and the group agreed right away and arranged it (and played it beautifully!) in just a month! After hiring Ovation, ceremony/cocktail hour music was no longer a worry for me. I knew I was in great hands!

I found Ovation to be very reasonably priced compared to other quartets, especially considering their willingness to arrange new songs. When I was notified that the church required more time to rehearse prior to the ceremony, Ovation agreed to add time to our contract on short notice without a problem. Laurie is extremely professional and I believe she wants to provide the best music possible for her clients. The level of musicianship was outstanding! Further, the Quartet then transferred to the Reception creating an additional ambiance, delivering the finest music we could have hoped for.
