After some thought about the budget, it was decided that we could not use them for the wedding day, but still wanted the opportunity to have some amazing engagement photos. We worked on setting up a time for the shoot through emails, starting in February (at one point waiting almost 12 days for a response from them) and decided on a date in April. I was literally counting down the days for our session and could not believe we were going to have photos like I would see on their social media accounts. The night before our session, I received an email that we would most likely have to be rescheduled due to unforeseen circumstances and the next day I was told we could look into rescheduling in the next two weeks. I responded by saying we were pretty much free except for one morning. This was exactly two weeks ago and I have yet to receive one email. I imagine that if we were one of their wedding day couples, we would have heard back a lot sooner. It almost seems like our business was not needed. I would have rather been told we needed to book them for the wedding day in order to use the discount. That way, it would have saved everybody’s time. At this point, we have realized we need to move on. Again, their photos are beautiful, but the service is lacking.

es everything about taking pictures feel that way, they have to be miracle workers, there is just no other explanations. Shannon was wonderful to work with. He is clearly passionate about what he does and it shows in his work. He also makes you feel comfortable from the very beginning, which is really important so you don't feel (and therefore look) awkward while doing your photos. He is also very quick to respond to emails which is nice. He specializes in outdoor pictures and they are absolutely stunning. If you love Texas nature, this is your guy! Everyone I show my engagement and wedding pictures to all say these are some of the best they've ever seen. The only downside to having Shannon as your photographer will be picking which photos to frame and put in books, you wont be able to decide!!!

He did our engagement pictures and my bridals and they're amazing, they could not be more perfect. Shannon had another job to do so he couldn't shoot my wedding but his sister Kelly did and she's awesome. She's just as nice and genuine as he is and made sure we got all the pictures that we wanted. He got my attention by the beautiful sunset photography he had on display (I love texas sunsets). After taking to him I knew I wanted him to be our photographer. My (then fiancé) met with him too prior to making the final decision and he agreed- he makes you feel so comfortable and natural. Shannon is an amazing photographer. His passion for photography is so obvious when he is in action....we totally trusted him with everything. And his work truly speaks for itself. we were so satisfied with our engagement pictures and even though we have not received our wedding pics yet (we just got married), we know they are going to be amazing!!! Shannon's sister, Kelly, is outstanding too! They have photography in their genes!! Also, I feel this is important to add...we got lots of of compliments from family and guests that our photographer was fun! During our wedding he was out in the middle of the action having fun and capturing our special night. Shannon is worth every penny and if you want quality, creative, unique and truly beautiful work.... Then he is your guy!

Shannon and his sister Kelly delivered! I first did a boudoir session with both of them. They were both very professional and made me feel comfortable since boudoirs can be a little awkward. My husband loves the photos! Shannon also did my bridal and our engagement photos. We had to reschedule a couple times because of weather but he kept reassuring me that it will be worth it to get that natural sunlight in the photos, and he was right! We could not have asked for a better sunset for him to capture us in. People cannot stop talking about how they look like they belong in a magazine! On our wedding day, Shannon and Kelly arrived on time and were ready to capture everything we had discussed. I never for one second worried that they might not get "the shot". They were on top of everything which made me feel even more comfortable. What I love about their photography is that they capture the raw emotion. He will get you to laugh a genuine laugh that shows in the photos. Nothing is 'posy posy' which I loved. When he says his photos tell a story, he means it. You will be able to relive your entire day just through his photos. We have definitely found our photographers for life. I cannot thank Shannon and Kelly enough for being there for us on our day and giving us memories that will last a lifetime!!!

ttle over our budget, I stopped hearing from them. I tried for 3 months to contact them to just SCHEDULE the engagements. Of the 9 emails I sent after switching the email address I was using, thinking maybe something was wrong with it, I only received 5 emails back in total. I tried calling and got no answer. A couple weeks later my fiance' called for me, but that still did no good. I finally gave up on it...don't get me wrong, their photos are amazing. I was super excited and felt so blessed to have won HALF OFF with an amazing photographer. I was very disappointed in the way the situation went. Great Photos, bad service...

Their pictures illustrated more detail than any other photographer with a unique way of enhancing the photo with natural lighting. After talking with Shannon and his philosophy of taking pictures to tell a story, I felt that the fit could not be more perfect. After our first meeting with him we left thinking, WOW, we could not have picked a better person and we felt blessed to have started what we hope will be a lifelong friendship. My bridal portraits were at a unique outdoor setting at sunset which Shannon picked out to encompass the rustic essence of our wedding. He was great at keeping the mood lively and relaxed by giving me prompts to help set the mood. The bridal portraits turned out gorgeous (which I normally wouldn’t say because they are pictures of me) but I could not believe how they turned out. We could not decide so we picked 2 to be on a canvas. I received SOOO many compliments on my bridals from friends and family. My parents currently have my bridal portrait in the sunset on their mantle and it looks like a different picture with the overhead light on and off. And now to the wedding, it was great having 2 photographers to ensure all of the details were included. There were a few formal pictures at the church by request but I entrusted Shannon and his sister to capture our story through his lens. The majority of the time we did not even realize pictures were being taken. The night flew by which everyone warns you will happen. Luckily after approximately 4-5 weeks we were able to experience that wonderful day all over again. We were so excited to see everything included from the details of the décor and attire, the heartfelt emotions and excitement during the ceremony, the awesome moves we nailed for our first dance, the joy and love of our guests that filled the dance floor as well as the outdoors. We were unsure how we were going make the selection of photos however Shannon came prepared with some photos and ideas for the album. He was open to our ideas in switching out some pictures but it seemed that he captured our story. The final product turned out absolutely beautiful and we are so excited to share our photo album with our family and friends. We decided on features that are more costly to ensure our photo album will weather through time and survive the hands of kids and grandkids for what we hope will be passed on for generations. I know this review is very long but there are not enough words to express how blessed we were to have Shannon be with us every step of the way. I highly recommend Captivating Weddings.

Captivating Weddings! Shannon Vandivier of Captivating Weddings was a joy to work with throughout the process. At our first meeting, it was clear that he was our choice. His stunning art along with his easy-going personality won us over immediately (he even suggested wedding venues, one of which turned out to be our choice, with which we were equally pleased)! Shannon worked with us diligently through an engagement photo session that got rained out three times, and a bridal portrait session that took place in 38 degree weather! Both sessions produced photos that will be cherished forever. At the wedding, Shannon and his sister Kelly were everywhere, but seemingly invisible. Everything from posed shots of the wedding party and families to candid shots of the reception were artfully done and of the highest quality. They become part of the celebration, allowing your guests to be at ease with the photography, which allows for great candid moments. Another thing to note...all of the photography from Captivating Weddings is great, but the crew truly excels at outdoor photography. I'm in love with our sunset-time photos! So if you are having a wedding partially or fully outdoors, these are your photographers!

I have been in the wedding industry since 2001, and I have seen my fair share of photographers come and go over the past decade plus and it takes a lot for me to take notice let alone be truly impressed. But Shannon is just that good, I couldn't help but recognize what a stand out he is. I have a very high criteria by which I evaluate photographers and Shannon exceeds every standard I have, always. His talent is undeniable, just looking at his work tells the story. But he is also perhaps the most down to earth and accommodating photographer I've ever met. His turn around time is amazing and because I have worked with him repeatedly I know first hand that he is incredibly consistent, which is down right unheard of in this business. The way he uses light, the angles he captures all the while being completely unintrusive is brilliant. You don't even realize he is there, which is what gives him the ability to get the honest and true feeling of the moment. He doesn't have to manipulate the experience because he's so on point with his craft. He freezes time so that couples can look back and see what they were feeling, what there loved ones were feeling as they witnessed the beloved union. I can honestly say that in all my years working in the wedding business he is the BEST photographer working today. I respect him tremendously on every level and have never given an endorsement like this to any other photographer that I know. There are places I help couples cut back on their budget, but photography is never one of those options. After the wedding is all said and done all that you have left are the photographs. You can't go back and redo it. So it stands to reason you should hire a company that will deliver in spades. Bottom line, Captivating Weddings is that company. You would be down right crazy not to book Shannon and his remarkable team!

From the time he got there to the time I met with him design the album, you could tell that all he cared about was the quality of his work. He wanted me to fall in love with the pictures, and he did just that! I can't stop looking at the pictures and the wedding was 6 months ago! The quality and customer service of this team just blew me away.

t photographers websites, I can honestly say that it was Shannon's work that actually stood out. The photos have a creative and artistic edge over all the other work I had seen out there. The entire team makes you feel comfortable and for the most part is almost invisible. Thanks to having two photographers, Shannon was able to focus on portraits of the group prior to the ceremony and Kelly got great shots of the details. (Rings, cake, cameos etc.) While Shannon is happy to give you directions if he's looking for a specific shot, the goal is actually to get natural shots as opposed to the often typically posed angles. They are fast and efficient at the photos without skipping a beat of losing a great shot. Our wedding actually included both fireworks and fire-dancers and the photos from those are amazing. The price was at the top of my budget for photos, but I would have happily paid more than we did for the quality of shots we received in return. Bottom line: If the photos matter to you and you want more than typical shots, Captivating weddings is the one to choose. There is just no way you can be disappointed!
