was debating on whether or not to leave a review, as the damage has already been done, and I don't care much to revisit all of the details.. I'm working on accepting it all, and moving on from it. But I feel it is important to advise the next couple that is interested in hiring Padre Rafael - Don't do it. Hire a professional. Not only did he embarrass my husband and I in front of all our family and friends, but he also embarrassed our family members, photographer & videographer, as he was barking orders at all of them during the ceremony. We were all mortified to say the least. The fact that he was bilingual and a catholic priest of the church, was what had my husband and I set on choosing him. We never realized how detrimental choosing a QUALIFIED officiant would be. The day after the wedding, my husband called Padre, and shared with him our thoughts and feedback in order to help him understand for the next wedding he took part in, but he argued back on every single point my husband made. His way was the only way. There's plenty of officiants out there, do your due diligence. It is important.
Padre Rafael is not dependable. I witnessed him first hand at my sisters wedding this past weekend, and I am very disappointed. Padre Rafael was asked by the bride several times to announce that the ceremony is unplugged (phones down / no pictures) He was also asked to remember to step to the side when they kissed so that he would not be in their photo.
The bride texted him before the ceremony with both reminders, and I myself approached him with the reminder of announcing that it is an unplugged ceremony. His response was "Yes, I have been told four different times today already" - Perfect! I assumed he would deliver these two simple requests. Shockingly enough he did not do either. His response to the bride after being confronted about the announcement that he did not make was "When would I have done that?" Wow! You simply just SAY IT. No apologies we're given at all. This man is a fraud, a con artist etc., We were all in disbelief by him and the wedding coordinator together. This man does not care what the bride and groom think, he only cares what his own opinions are. Everything else is out the window. What a joke.
Padre Rafael is one of a kind. Coming from a Catholic family, I wanted to incorporate some prayers and traditions but did not want to have a too religious ceremony. We also had 20% Spanish speakers in the crowd and wanted to keep the ceremony bilingual enough for them to hear some parts in Spanish. Padre Rafael did a great job balancing out the English/Spanish. He brought humor, tradition, and kept the crowd engaged. We got so many compliments about the ceremony and everyone thought Padre Rafael knew us for years. He made our ceremony unforgettable! Thank you so much!
My wife and I love Father Rafael and the way he officiated our Wedding. We met with him prior to our wedding date where he answered any questions we had and explained/offered suggestions for our wedding program. He made our Vows so meaningful and personal to us, and he added some humor as well that really made our ceremony something we will always cherish. Father Rafael will treat you as a member of his own family. Please have Father Rafael as a part of your ceremony and part of your life. He is a warm, kind, and wise man who will share his life experiences with you, and his words of wisdom so you will have a fulfilling and lasting marriage. Thank you, Father Rafael!!! Steven Glatz

When searching for an officiant, I was looking for someone who would honor my Catholic background, and find a way to incorporate my husband's Buddhist background. Additionally, I wanted the officiant to be bilingual. Padre Rafael understood our requests and conducted a beautifully unique and intimate ceremony in both English and Spanish. After the ceremony several of my guests raved about what they liked, and the top 4 things were:
1. Audience participation
2. Incorporation of the buddhist tradition of red string, and explaining its significance
3. Having us recite our vows in English and Spanish.
4. Incorporating buddhist tradition of facing our guests and parents and thanking them for shaping us into who we are today.
His ceremony was in line with our beliefs, and the ceremony was beautiful and in perfect harmony. I would highly recommend Padre Rafael for any ceremony.
