I usually do not do reviews, but thought I would for our wedding videographer mainly because I found frustration in this area of our wedding. My advice to any looking brides would...
be to make sure you communicate clearly what you want filmed, and be sure you are not sacrificing one part of your day to get another part of your day filmed.
We just received our wedding film, and were disappointed to see that we were missing some footage - particularly the smaller details of a wedding, but the ones that are so fun to watch. For example, our beautiful outdoor cocktail hour was not filmed at all. We had a live musician play music for almost 3 hours at our wedding, all throughout dinner and during cocktail hour, and there is no footage of him either. We are also missing some footage of my husband's grandparents. Other big moments, like my husband and I being introduced for the first time at the reception, were just not filmed up to our expectations. His positioning was at a strange angle, so some of us coming out is blocked by a pillar. After speaking with him, he explained he was setting up the indoor reception venue with lighting/audio throughout cocktail hour and that is why he did not film during that time. That was unacceptable to us, and he was very apologetic and sincerely sorry about missing that portion. He had rationale and reasons for all the things we were disappointed in, many of them having to do with the constraints of having only one videographer. So I guess my advice is that if you hire Mike from Palette Films, to just be specific with what you are looking for - he will get all the "major" moments but if you want anything extra, be sure to communicate that to him. Also, I would probably go with 2 videographers because it is clear that the smaller details will just not be captured with only him.
I want to add that we loved our highlight film! I think he films for the "edit" rather than just filming your whole day, which is why our high light film was so cute. It was just the larger wedding film that was disappointing because we were expecting a video of our entire day start to finish, and that is just not what we got. When we expressed our disapproval, Mike was really great at hearing us out and tried to explain why things were done the way he did them. We appreciated his willingness to talk with us 6 months after our wedding - I think he truly cares about his clients and wants them to be happy.
We used Palette Films for our wedding videographers and it was the BEST choice we made! Mike is so talented and amazing, he captures little details in ways you wouldn't even think ...
to look at twice! He was so wonderful to work with!
Mike at Palette Films went above and beyond!
