Super amazing and blessed to have got a barrel in my first wave! 🌊✨ easy to drive, tons of parking, the hot tub after the sesh was super cool, I did public hour left and rights, it was great but I feel that 7 of the people in the left and righ...
ts need it more coaching since they where still learning how to surf and they where totally with the wrong boards and they didn’t even catched waves (I guess some signs around or for people to really get truth to themselves on they’re level so they can get stoked and have more fun) I did appreciate! Brad’s the person on duty for the wave 🌊 saw my first wave and saw me getting barreled my first time on this wave pool! Then he was super helpful and coached me to get dipper on the barrel super cool! Thanks for having an amazing staff and a great place to get stoked and improve your surfing l!

Had a great time. Catching the waves takes some getting used to. Quite challenging actually. Have to be in good shape and in the right spot. Very different feel than the ocean since you can’t really see the wave coming. It just sort of pops up ...
and you gotta be ready to go. The lifeguards will give tips and help of course. Super cool guys. But I saw lots of good surfers out there still getting frustrated.
Also, it’s tiring. You’ve gotta be ready to pump when it’s your turn, and the waves come in sets every couple or few minutes. By the time you paddle back to the lineup, there’s very little time to rest before the next wave comes. Especially for A frames, when you’ve got two people going on each wave… you’re getting the opportunity for a wave every single set. For lefts and rights each group of 6 takes turns every other set. So you have more time to rest on that one.
The music is chill and the set up is great. Late afternoon and evening hours the sun goes lower in the sky and casts a shadow on the pool… can get chilly for some people. Especially if you’re not catching every wave and paddling the distance back. Water was 75 degrees when I went in mid October. Air was also about the same or even slightly warmer. Make sure to drink plenty of water, saw multiple people cramping from over exhaustion… and consider not doing two sessions back to back unless you’re in good shape. I did, and it was okay, but I was quite spent after. Had 22 waves in the two hours, of which I made the drop on a little over half… and either missed or got wrecked on the others.
Oh, and going over the falls on advanced a frames is no joke here. It’s 8’ deep, but there’s a current under which sucks you down to the bottom really fast, and it can drag you forward along the bottom until the step, which drops down to 11” deep… I experienced that a couple times, and had to grab my leash to pull myself up… was super tricky knowing where the top was because there’s all sorts of water movement under there.
I think they must jet the water from below or something to help create the waves? I dunno about that… but it was not easy to get out of there. Definitely gotta be a good swimmer. For the size of the wave, which was probably around chest high on the drop, it felt like I was getting buried by a wave well over head when I was underneath it in the current below…
Anyway, not trying to scare anyone. You’ll be fine. Just don’t assume it’s gonna be a cake walk. I totally went into it thinking I’d be chilling and the wave would just pick me up and I’d be in la la land. Which I was when I made the drop and caught the section. Super cool feeling when that happens. But I never expected the water below to be so different than the ocean. It is for sure powerful under there…

I sadly had to edit this review and bring down some stars after three staff told us we would get a credit for the inconvenience of the main pool being closed and not being able to surf. When we left and asked for the credit, the staff were rude...
and refused to give us any credit or even a future discount. We spent $600 on the cabana because we thought it would be fun to watch the surfing, $288 on food and drinks for our group. Don’t tell people they are going to get a credit and then make them feel bad for asking for it and refuse. We were also told at one bar that he was the only staff on and that they don’t serve the cabanas, but then we ended up with a delightful cabana server. Staff communication could definitely improve.
This was my original 5 star review. Our first time to the surf club and we will be back! We had a cabana for 7 of us and although it was quiet today and we could have found chairs elsewhere, having the shade, misters, towel service and dedicated server was great. The cabana space was spacious enough for all of us to relax and eat and watch some football. The food was surprisingly good! We were disappointed the wave pool was broken down today so we didn’t get to surf, but everyone enjoyed the slides and we were told we would get a credit. We have a 3, 14 and 17 year old and there is something for everyone.
