A Dream Come True Booking palms and place for my wedding is the best decision I ever made (besides marrying my husband of course). JJ & Alison were as friendly, helpful, energetic, charismatic, and brilliant from our first initial conversation to our very last. JJ & Alison sent over 1800 beautiful pictures from my wedding in such a short turn around time. They captured our day so perfectly. From every little detail, to candid photos, to stunning backdrop photos, they captured the day so well. They made us feel comfortable and confident throughout the whole process. JJ & Alison were also fun to be around. They bring a joy and comfort that is invaluable. Their photos are absolutely stunning. Not to mention they are couple GOALS. we are truly so appreciative and in awe of our experience with Palms and Lace. Look no further, they are what you need for your big day!

Alison and JJ are wonderful people and professionals. First and foremost, our engagement and wedding photos turned out beautifully. Having 2 photographers allowed for multiple perspectives of each moment, and some of our favorite photos were from unusual angles that likely wouldn’t have been taken with just one photographer. Alison and JJ also captured really lovely candid moments of not just us, but of our friends and family. We ended up with over 1300 images of our wedding. Alison and JJ also provided incredible customer service. They were extremely responsive and returned any texts or emails almost instantaneously. They were willing to travel to a distant location, had flexible and resonable packages (although they should definitely charge more than they do), and were really easy to coordinate with for our engagement photos, which we asked to td fairly quickly after hiring them. As for our engagement session, neither of us are particularly comfortable in front of cameras, but Alison and JJ are so pleasant and easygoing that we felt relaxed and even enjoyed the experience. On the day of our wedding, they went above and beyond. They helped to manage the chaos of our huge wedding party, searched for and found lost items, and gave us pep talks when we were feeling stressed and overwhelmed. Alison actually zipped up my dress and secured my pearl necklace when my mom was struggling with the zipper and clasp. She bustled my dress, made decisions about shots when we weren’t sure what approach to take, and was so incredibly kind in moments when we really needed objective opinions. Alison and JJ also navigated working with another team of videographers - which meant there were more people to avoid in shots and take turns directing the action with. We know they would be able to work with anyone in any situation. We cannot say enough positive things about Alison and JJ. We are so grateful and wholeheartedly recommend them.

Working with JJ and Allison was a dream come true! They are so incredibly talented, they directed us when needed and let us be ourselves when needed. We loved working with them for our engagement photos and our wedding photos! Professional, fun, gorgeous work, and just perfection. All around, we have been so impressed with their work. JJ & Alison absolutely nailed our wedding day photos! They made us so comfortable on the day and really captured the energy of the event. We had sneak peeks within a week and a full gallery in 10 days! The photos are phenomenal. I can’t say enough good things about our experience with them. It’s really hard to plan a destination wedding without meeting vendors in person, but they made working with them a breeze. Communication was quick when I had questions leading up to the day. 10/10 recommend!!

I cannot recommend Palms and Lace enough! J.J. and Alison are not only wonderful photographers, they are such wonderful people too! Planning a wedding is hard enough, but trying to do it during COVID was SOOOOOO much more stressful. It felt like our plans were changing daily. But J.J. and Alison were so flexible and responsive every time I emailed them. They were quick to roll with the punches whenever we had any changes to our original plan. They were also so helpful with planning! We didn't have a wedding coordinator, so we relied on their recommendations for vendors, locations for the photo shoots, and they even helped us put together our timeline. Our photos were absolutely beautiful and were delivered so quick after our engagement shoot and wedding. I know some people wait for months to get their pictures back, but we had ours in just a couple of weeks. They are also so reasonably priced! The quality and amount of photos is unbeatable for what you pay. We plan to use them for all our family photos from now on and recommend them to all our friends looking for wedding or family photos. If you're looking for a photographer, book them. I promise you won't regret it!

Being myself a wedding photographer is not easy to find a fellow pro for your wedding,- your expectations are high and you want just the best possible shots. When I found Palms and Lace team I immediately fell in love with their beautiful work. The images in the portfolio looked so organic and natural- exactly the style I was looking for. My husband and I had a last minute wedding and JJ (our photographer) was absolutely nice and flexible during the preparation communication. You know a wedding day might be a little bit stressful, even if it’s a small ceremony for two, and you want everything to be smooth and easy. I really appreciate that JJ was very punctual and arrived even earlier, so he had a chance to walk around the venue to find good spots for the photoshoot. He was so nice and easy going and we both felt absolutely relaxed during the photoshoot. The pictures turned out just fantastic, very romantic and full of real emotions. My wife and I loved working with Palms and Lace Photography! From the start, they were helpful and informative. They even helped us pick a location for a first look. JJ and Alison are not only incredible photographers, but amazing friends from the start! They kept in contact throughout the months before the wedding to help get everything in place. On our wedding day, Alison saved the day with extra bobby pins for the bride’s hair and JJ even changed my flat tire on the way to the wedding. They were super flexible with the wedding schedule as unforeseen changes flowed throughout the day. They were up for anything we wanted to do for the sake of a picture haha and they have a great eye for poses and locations. Having two photographers is a huge benefit to capture multiple perspectives and the photos are stunning! We received edited teaser photos in less than 24 hours and our edited gallery in less than a week. We are amazed at the moments they captured during our wedding day! Allison and JJ shot our wedding day and we couldn't have imagined a better experience! With planning a destination wedding, having a great photography team was so important to us. They made the whole experience super laid back and easy for us, while capturing absolutely amazing pictures and memories! Allison and JJ were also very flexible and helped guide us through adjustments to our wedding day timeline as needed. Their editing style is beautiful and doesn't take away from any colors or scenery. We also received a sneak peak within 24 hours and our full edited wedding gallery within 2 weeks! Absolutely wonderful! My now husband and I eloped in Oahu and the one thing we were particular on was our photographer. Alisson and JJ did an absolutely stunning job and we couldn’t be happier. We used JJ & Allison for our destination wedding and thank goodness we found them. We were completely unfamiliar with the area but they knew the perfect locations to capture the love and joy of our big day. Our wedding was small and intimate and I worried that professional photographers would stick out and feel awkward but it was the exact opposite they felt like part of our day. JJ and my husband clicked so well. They almost seemed like groom and best man! While they were getting ready JJ took pictures of the party getting ready, laughing, smiling and all a part of the day that I got to enjoy through his images. We decided to elope on Maui and stumbled upon JJ and Alison. From the first contact they were incredible to work with. They were easy going and helpful with advising locations and times for the best lighting. They were prompt in answering questions which was a huge plus for me! The day of our wedding Alison even helped me into my corset dress and made sure everything look right before our first look. Our pictures turned out even better than I could have ever dreamed. JJ and Allison were incredible to work with! They did both our engagement shoot as well as our day of wedding photography and we were overwhelmed with how great everything turned out! JJ and Alison are AMAZING! They made the whole process so fun, simple, and easy. We are typically suuuper awkward in front of the camera but JJ and Alison made us feel comfortable and the pictures turned out perfect! They are so fun to spend time with and we had a blast. One thing that I LOVE about them is they don't make you wait months to get the pictures - we had some within a week to show our families and they sent us the flash drive with the rest within a few weeks! These photographers are the greatest. We can't recommend them enough! They were flexible, fun, helpful, creative, accommodating, and knowledgeable...basically, everything you could hope for in wedding photographers, and more! Their advice- about florists, restaurants, pastors, beach locations, etc- was crucial in making our Big Day perfect. Book them for your wedding! You'll be glad you did!

What's a photographer do when they need to be photographed? As a photographer needing photos, I reached out to my network for recommendations and found JJ. He went out of his way to help me find just the right location, as I was a 3,000 miles away. I could tell from his portfolio that he was going to do a great job and he totally delivered. He was really dependable and showed up early to make sure everything went smoothly, and he had lots of recommendations on locations. Definitely recommend JJ.

JJ and Alison were great! From the very first email their exceptional customer service was very evident. On our wedding day they were very helpful (especially Allison) and the photos turned out SO Amazing!! We are not the most comfortable in front of the camera but they made us feel very relaxed. We definately look forward to seeing them on our next visit to Oahu.

JJO Photo were our photographers for our wedding in early October on Oahu. Both JJ and Alison were truly wonderful to work with and produced amazing photos. They had great communication throughout the entire process leading up to the event and on the day of, had a good plan in place to get the photos we wanted. They are very kind, fun people and had us at ease the entire day. They captured the happiness and joy of the day perfectly without being intrusive. We received our gallery of gorgeous photos very quickly and my friends and family can’t stop gushing over them. I’ll say out of the hundreds of beautiful photos that they took, my favorite and most sentimental is of my husband’s vows since I accidentally washed his pants with the vows folded inside. I highly recommend them!

I am so glad that I found JJ and Alison as my wedding photographer. Planning a destination wedding from the east coast, I was extremely nervous about findjng the “right” vendor. For me it is more about having a true connection with someone who truly loves what they do and cares about my wedding. After the first conversation I had with JJ, I know I have found the one. JJ and Alison are simple the sweetest and kindest couple, and their love for each other and for photography is contagious. Most importantly, they have such artistic eyes to capture the most genuine and precious moments. The husband wife combo is perfect for covering the day from multiple angles. JJ has always been there for me throughout the planning process, even for things that are not directly related to photography. For example It was through JJ that I found my amazing videographer and a few beautiful hikes in Hawaii! Alison was with me the whole day and she took care of me like a sister- fixing my hair and dress, and made sure I enjoy the day without worrying about anything else. I wouldn’t have survived the day without her! Last but not least, they were able to deliver the photos a week after the wedding. JJ was so sweet that he sent us sneak peeks of the photos before the final delivery to “hold me over”. We feel like we have built a lasting friendship with JJ and Alison!

We were doing a destination wedding, on a budget, and JJ gave us so much valuable wedding advice about where we could do our ceremony before the big day. They came early to appts, and didn't leave until everything was wrapped up. When shooting, it felt like we were with friends. They did get our final images to us in less than two weeks, and there were way too many shots we loved. Not only were the posed shots absolutely beautiful, but they took so many candids that perfectly captured the moment too.

I spent a long time researching wedding photographers in Hawaii and was very impressed by JJOs work, they automatically went to the top of my list and we are so happy that they could shoot our wedding. After having the opportunity to meet, it was clear how their personality and passion matched their talent, these guys are pros! JJO Photo was by far our favorite vendor from our wedding day! Cullen and I emailed a few photographers we found on the Knot, including JJO Photo. JJ was the first to respond to my emails, he addressed our needs, he was enthusiastic, engaging, and easy to work with right away -- a great sign. Beyond the contract phase, JJO Photo didn't disappoint. They took incredible pictures on our wedding day and captured so many great memories for us! JJ works with his wife, Alison, and they are a strong team. They have two different points of view, which provided a diverse assortment of photos. We felt lucky to have both of them, and if we had worked with a different photographer, we would've missed the two perspectives. When taking photos, JJ and Alison made us feel comfortable. They took us to several great locations on the North Shore of Oahu, based on where we were staying. The locations were stunning, and made for great backdrops. They provided direction when shooting, resulting in some iconic photos. Before the wedding, Alison partnered with me and my bridal squad. She took photos of us getting ready, helped with our hair and makeup, and even took pictures of my rings and shoes (I'm still not sure how she found time for it all!). In the meantime, JJ was photographing Cullen and his friends getting ready. Alison and JJ were invaluable in helping coordinate the first look between Cullen and I, as well as kicking the ceremony off on-time. Looking at the photos now, it's obvious JJ and Alison knew exactly who and what to capture. Their professional experience was evident from the first email communication to receiving our photo album. The whole process was an ease and we truly couldn't have been happier with how our photos turned out. JJ and Alison ended up being more than our photographers on our wedding day. They became our wedding coordinators, style consultants and friends. We look forward to the next time we're back in Hawaii to celebrate more special occasions that JJ and Alison can be a part of. Oh my goodness, JJ and Alison are the superstars of the wedding photography business. Right from the first time I contacted them they were communicative and flexible. They were so understanding about working within our wedding budget, and even gave us advice as to when to have the ceremony to get the best lighting for photos, etc. On the day of the wedding, they showed up right in time to get beautiful "getting ready" pictures, and I was completely comfortable having Alison in the room with us ladies as we got ready, which says a lot as I sometimes feel awkward having my picture taken. They have such a wonderful and dynamic style of photography as they are a team of two, allowing them to catch very different styles of photos, such as posed vs. candid. For example, Alison photographed my husband and I in the classic wedding style poses, while JJ caught the goofy shenanigans leading up to and following the nice poses. Following the wedding, they got our pictures to us in FIVE days, (how fast is that?!) and we love absolutely them, they are truly priceless to us and our families. I could go on, but to keep it short, YES!! Hire these two to shoot your wedding, I am sure that you will not be disappointed. They are incredibly talented photographers, and just lovely people in general, and are sure to make your big day that much more special.

JJ & Alison are truly the best! They went above and beyond for our wedding photos. They are so easy to work with, and take incredible photos. The day before our wedding they flew in from Oahu to Kaua’i to help us look at beaches. They were so easy to message, and always quick to respond. On the day of the wedding it was so nice to have both JJ & Alison there. Someone to stay with the groom & someone to stay with the bride. The two different angles of photos was also so cool. We received our photos before we even left the island. I can’t say enough good things about this couple, I would highly recommend them!!

3500 characters is just not enough for me to write this review the way I would like to. Where do I even start? Words cannot express the gratitude and appreciation we have for JJ and Alison. It has been said over and over but they truly went above and beyond to make our day so completely perfect. Not only did we get pictures that were so beautiful we were brought to tears, but we got to spend a day with 2 amazing people who made us feel like family. On top of that, Alison did my hair for the wedding and did better than any pictures on Pinterest. She also made my absolutely gorgeous haku lei (floral crown) AND bouquet! I mean, talk about hitting the jackpot! JJ was so responsive and helpful before we even got to the island (I honestly felt like family before even meeting). He answered every question I had and had so many suggestions that helped make my planning job so much easier. On our wedding day, Alison helped me get ready all morning (and took beautiful "getting ready" photos) while JJ "groom sat" my now husband to keep him occupied until the ceremony (and took pictures of my handsome man). After the ceremony, we went to multiple stunning locations and took pictures almost the entire day. They took us places we didn't even know existed - but we are SO glad we know about now. Our wedding was just my husband and I, so taking pictures was super important for us to be able to share with our family and friends back home in NC. We truly couldn't be happier with how they turned out (plus we got them SO fast, too, literally in a couple of days). I've had multiple family members and friends brought to tears just from seeing our beautiful pictures. I honestly have no idea what we would have done without these two. They made our day so much more perfect than we could have ever dreamed. I've said it multiple times now, but I feel so incredibly bless to have found JJO Photo on The Knot. I would recommend them to anyone needing any kind of pictures anywhere even remotely close to Oahu. We are so thankful for the both of them. We can't thank you both enough, truthfully, we can't. My fiance and I had a spectacular time getting our engagement photos done with JJ and Alison. Not only have they provided a lot of amazing insight on the optimal methods and positions to take photos, but they also provided a comfortable and relaxing environment for us. Although it was our first time encountering JJ and Alison, we felt like we were having a fun time with our close friends during our entire photography session. Because of such comfortable environment and their remarkable ability to arrange the most beautiful photographs, our pictures turned out spectacular- all pictures truly look like they could be in a magazine! Best photographer couple we’ve ever worked with, and they are definitely true professionals we would love to work with again. The turnaround time including editing of photos was only a few days. I think it took about less than 2 days to get over 700 photos sent to us via drop box, which was very impressive! Also, we would like to take a moment to thank JJ and Alison for being super accommodating on our schedule to take our engagement photos. We didn’t set up an appointment until 7pm the day before the shoot, yet they were super friendly, understanding and considerate. We don’t think we would be able to encounter any photographer as responsive as JJ! Thank you so much for your patience and making our Hawaiian trip memorable with these beautiful pictures!

My bride and I started with a list of 10 photographers, JJ and Allison stood out from the rest immediately. Their Response time was usually within minutes rather than hours or even days like the other photographers we considered. They treated us like friends form the get go. They really listened to our ideas, they helped us pick a location and they even helped with some of the set up when a portion of our wedding party was late. I live in Atlanta, but my son and future daughter-in-law were at school in Hawaii so I was hiring a photographer from across the country and was very nervous about it. JJ and Alison were wonderful to work with. Since I was traveling from Wisconsin to Hawaii for my wedding I needed someone who had great communication skills. JJ's communication was fast, professional and thorough. I was initially interested in working with them after looking at their sample photos. I loved how they captured the light and highlighted the colors of Hawaii. It was exactly what I wanted for my wedding day photos and it is what I got. I could not be happier with the photos. They spent time with my family and me and went above and beyond with their services. They made my husband and I feel very comfortable and were helpful in directing and suggesting poses while encouraging us to be ourselves. I received my photos fast and my family and I love them.

First off, JJ and Alison are some of my favorite people and they make a great couple. My wife is from Arizona and I am from Utah and we met at school at BYU. JJ happened to be in town the weekend we were engaged and took some beautiful engagement pictures that were great to use for the announcements we sent out. Honestly, it really didn't feel like a photo shoot - it felt like we were having fun and JJ was able to capture those genuine moments. We were married in Arizona at the end of 2017 and we decided to use JJ as well as his wife. They made the pictures so easy and fun for us. I especially recommend using both JJ and Alison because how they work together. Alison was able to capture Beautiful posed pictures while JJ caught the candid moments on camera. They are funny, they were able to make us laugh and were so so excellent to work with. They edited and sent the pictures via Dropbox and flash drive within 1-2 weeks and they turned out awesome! I highly reccomend using JJO Photo, they are great people as well as highly skilled photographers.

I can not say enough about JJ and his wife. Not being local made planning our wedding difficult, but JJ was such a huge help! He suggested the beach and it was amazing. Bonus points because JJ and his wife joined us for a sunrise wedding. They also helped us livestream the wedding so that our family and friends could watch it back home. The actual photos are breath taking. We were so comfortable with JJ and you can tell it in our pictures. JJ and his wife will always have a special place in our hearts because of the huge roll they played in our wedding. We will treasure our pictures for the rest of our lives! Thank you!

We booked JJ Photo for our engagement photos all the way from Vancouver and it turned out to be a great choice. JJ and Ali were super warm, friendly, and responsive to texts and emails even before we met them in person. They were very willing to suggest locations that match the "look" we have in mind. They even drove 1.5 hours to our location of choice! As photographers, they gave some direction but ultimately let us act natural and just captured those authentic moments. JJ also provided us with the photos before we left the island just 3 days after the shoot! We had soooooo many fantastic photos to choose from. We won't hesitate to recomment JJ and Ali to any couple or family looking to commemorate their Hawaii vacation with awesome pictures. Thanks again, guys!

Hiring a photographer was something that we put a great deal of thought into. We contacted several bigger companies and were less than impressed with their customer service, (some of them wouldn’t even return our call). Then JJ and Alison were recommended to us by a family friend living on Oahu. We loved these guys right from the moment we first contacted them. Easy to work with, laid back, knowledgeable and passionate about their work. Their pricing was very reasonable and the photos, came out absolutely stunning, exactly the way we had envisioned. Couldn’t ask for more.

They knew the area and the shots they wanted well, while also working with our personalities and preferences to capture some really natural and beautiful photos. JJ took our engagement photos and they turned out beautifully! We took them here in Utah, and he did an absolutely wonderful job. Great to work with, we had a really fun time working with him. Neither of us have spent a lot of time in front of a camera, but he made us feel super comfortable and you can see it in our photos! The turnaround time was incredible, we got our pictures back within a week of taking them. He's awesome, I highly recommend hiring him!

By far the best portrait photos I have ever had done! JJ and his wife Alison are the perfect team. They listened to me and gave me eexactly what I wanted. You were able to capture all of the tender feelings that come with those special moments! They worked so well with everyone including the children, and they were so calm during a stressful day. Truly the best photographer team that you could imagine. JJ and Alison did our wedding pictures, and they far exceeded any expectations we had. WOW!! Really! The extremely good quality of the wedding pictures is obviously a result of their years of experience (and good equipment too I guess) Anyway the end result was like no other wedding pictures we had ever seen! I am not an expert, but you can tell that they know the secrets to great lighting and composition, and all that other mumbo jumbo. Probably even more important to us was the way they captured the little moments - casual mooments between the married couple, and the kids doing their little things. When JJ and Alison weren't busy doing people pictures, they captured some gorgeous pictures of the surrounding landscape and the facility. All in all, I can't see how the job could have been any better!

JJ has a natural ability that few possess to capture moments that are both artistic and usable. His laid back demeanor is in complete contrast to his strong attention to detail. He is a true artist. I absolutely loved the experience and there is no one I trust more to capture the moments my family wants to remember forever.
