Working with Ashley was a pleasure. She created exactly what we asked for. She took our vision and made it come to life. The cake was not only beautiful, with the most perfectly clean lines, but it was very tasty! I even added a last minute extra mini-cake to ensure all the guests would get a piece and then some. We're looking forward to our anniversary cake next June!

Ashley is absolutely amazing. When I came out for the reception and saw the cake and dessert table I was blown away. It was perfect, even better than we could have imagined. And of course besides being georgous, her cakes and desserts are absolutely delicious. Thank you so so much!!

Ashley is incredible. We had a bad experience with a bakery before finding her, so we were really nervous to meet her. She arranged a beautiful tasting for us and helped us pick flavors and how much cake we needed. Day of, our cake was absolutely beautiful and exactly what we had discussed. Hands down, we got the most compliments on our cake. Pretty much EVERY person at our wedding told us how amazing the cake was. We provided to-go boxes and I was glad we had snagged some for ourselves because ALL of it was taken. All of this and we get an anniversary cake, which we have already talked about multiple times!! THANK YOU to Ashley for making our vision come true.

Wow! Ashley! We had a very unique wedding cake request and Papa Haydn's did an absolutely amazing job making our wish come true. Rather than doing one large wedding cake, we wanted an assortment of 8 different cakes for guests to sample. Ashley and the team at Papa Haydn worked with us to put together 8 cakes for our big day and they were both beautiful and delicious. Some cakes on the menu were unavailable but Ashley worked with us to make custom cakes similar to those unavailable for our big day. We can't thank you enough for the delicious experience! Thank you!

Ashley was wonderful to work with! She prepared an excellent tasting for us and our families, and worked with us to create a cake that perfectly met our needs. Everything was delivered on time, and the flowers she chose were perfect! The cake itself was so decadent and delicious. Especially considering the price compared to other bakers in the area, you cannot go wrong with ordering your wedding cake from Papa Hadyn!

I am so, so happy we got our wedding cake through Ashley at Papa Haydn! People are still telling us we had the best wedding cake they've ever tasted. We had one two-tiered cutting cake and some additional rounds. The cakes were frosted and arranged so beautifully, our cake table looked like it came straight out of a bridal magazine. From the initial tasting to the wedding, working with Ashley was a pleasure. We are very much looking forward to picking up our complimentary anniversary cake next year (how awesome is that!?)!

Nothing negative to say! Working with Ashley was a breeze, she was attentive to our vision and helped guide is the right direction for what would work for us and our budget. She was also incredibly helpful in figuring out what would work best for decor and styling with the cakes we had chosen. We both love Papa Haydn desserts so much that we special ordered several of their menu classics, along with an simple and elegant cutting cake for my husband and I. You can't go wrong with Papa Haydn!

Our wedding cake was a highlight of our wedding! At our tasting we discussed decor options for the cake by showing Ashley pictures. She mentioned that some of the styles we wanted would make the cake a lot more expensive without adding taste, she offered us some great ideas to still get a similar look while keeping it well within our budget. We were able to select 3 very different flavors for our 3 tiers of cake without any additional fees, allowing our guests to get a lot of variety. We had a gorgeous cake for a very affordable price and also got to order some 9" round side cakes that were not displayed to help feed all of our guests while helping our budget. I felt that Ashley was really organized and easy to talk to as we made some modifications to our order. Also of note, the gold cake stand they provide for a small rental fee is large and gorgeous!

My (now) husband and I booked an appointment with Ashley at Papa Haydn East for a wedding cake tasting thinking there was no way we could afford one of their famously beautiful and delicious wedding cakes, but at least we’d get some free cake! The cake was of course to die for (banana cake with cinnamon cream cheese frosting is the flavor I never knew my life was missing), but what really blew us away was Ashley’s expertise. We came in thinking we’d ask for a quote on cupcakes and a small cutting cake to save money, but Ashley suggested making our dollars stretch further by having three separate “side cakes” instead, each in a different flavor, a different buttercream texture on the outside, and fresh flowers on top. She sketched out a mock-up of what it would look like, assuring us it would be unexpected and dramatic and IT WAS! We actually went under budget for our wedding cake, and it was everything we could have dreamed of and more. When the cakes were delivered the day of the wedding (the Sunday before Labor Day), we didn’t even see the wonderful person who set everything up and placed our cake topper just right. Our guests loved it, we even got to eat some at the wedding, and we kept on eating it for the next two days before leaving for the honeymoon! Now all that’s left is to decide what flavor to order for our complimentary first anniversary cake… that might be the toughest obstacle of our marriage so far.

I loved working with Ashley! She was always super responsive and helped me several times with the design since I wasn't sure what I wanted. I went with buttercream since I had heard that fondant didn't taste great and it cost more and it still looked (and tasted) amazing the day of! I highly recommend!

Ashley did not disappoint!!! We had the lemon cake and they added fresh raspberries for free for the main layer. Our guests were blown away. it was the exact design, and was easy to transport. We also felt that they were very reasonable in cost perfect!!

We had a fantastic experience with Ashley from start to finish! When we first saw that Papa Haydn made wedding cakes, it seemed too good to be true! We thought it would be outside our budget but we were so wrong! Compared to other wedding cake bakeries the price is competitive (and the clear winner). We decided to get a 3 tier cake and mini desserts to accompany the cake. Everything tasted beyond fantastic! At the wedding, the cake looked exactly how I pictured it. Ashley was wonderful to work with-always friendly, responsive and open to whatever we wanted. We recommended Papa Haydn whole heartedly! Thank you Ashley! :)

It's no secret that I love Papa Haydn's, so they were my first choice for wedding cake! They were booked up for actual wedding cakes, but I wasn't even sad because their whole-cakes are to die for. Ashley was great to work with and took my order just as seriously as a traditional wedding cake order. We bought 7 different cakes and had more than enough for our 110 guests. People were drooling over the cake table all night and everyone jumped to get in line when we finally cut the cake. It was great for people to have options for what flavor they wanted, too. I got so many compliments that people actually truly enjoyed the wedding cake for once! Definitely would recommend!

Ashley was great to work with, super accommodating through our many changes throughout the process. However, the day of our cake didn't have flowers in the arrangement we had drawn out and the main layer was SO DRY! Super disappointing. I barely had a bite of my own cake.

I almost didn’t consider Papa Haydn for a wedding cake because I thought it would be too expensive. But what do you know, it actually cost less than other places I checked out! Ashley did AMAZING work, I was floored by the beauty of our cake. We had 3 different flavors, 1 for each tier, and they were so moist and tasty. We had so many compliments on it.

I can't believe there aren't more ratings for Ashley's amazing work! Her cake was not only delicious, but very affordable. The look on the day of was truly spectacular and a showstopper. Many of our guests actually thought the cake was fake, as the frosting was so perfect and symmetrical. The cake was probably about 4 feet tall by the end and it was amazing! I'm a huge cake girl, and this is truly Portland's best! Can't wait for our complimentary anniversary cake come November!

The cake was amazing! Delicious flavors and beautiful decorating, really made this the best decision for our wedding cake. Ashley at Papa Haydn really helped us find the best flavors for our cake and it looked exactly the way we wanted.

Can I eat my cake all over again? Yes, I can! 1 year from my wedding I get a free mini cake for our anniversary. Yes, that's how delicious this cake was--I'm already waiting for that next bite in a year.... And not just delicious (poppyseed and cream with strawberries for filling in one layer and lemon chiffon for the top layer) the cake was beautifully decorated similar to a photo I had provided. Ashley and her team at Papa Haydn did an amazing job. Please don't cheat yourself by not taste testing here--the cakes are beautiful, delicious, and compared well in price to the other bakeries we checked out (while tasting much better!).

Hands down, BEST CAKE YOU COULD EVER INVEST IN. We found Papa Haydn randomly on a trip, and were thoroughly impressed with the food and desserts. Every time we return to Portland, we make sure to stop in. The cake was delicious, and worth every penny. Even if you don't like cake, theirs will please your taste buds.

OH MY! Ashley does an amazing job with cakes! We had a 2 layer cake with different shapes and it looked amazing and looked to good to cut into. The chocolate cake with a chocolate fudge like middle, to die for! They also will give you a 6in cake on your anniversary complimentary, NICE!

The cake was delicious and beautiful! But it was not a bargain option. But still very yummy, and they were very helpful.

Very impressed with the cake. Me and my husband got engaged in Disneyland, so we wanted "hidden Mickeys" on the cake, but our style was very old Hollywood Vintage Glamour, not cheesy Disney themed. She worked it in easily in the gold filigree icing. It looked so elegant! The flavors were amazing, I wish we had made the biggest layer lemon instead of chocolate, we took so much home from overestimating how much we would need (and having a few guests leave early before the cake cutting). Very easy to work with, and actually surprisingly affordable compared to other cake shops for the size and quality of the cake. Delivered on time in perfect condition. Had to take the cake stand back the next day (kind of a hassle when we were headed to the airport) but our parents kindly took it back to Sellwood for us. Overall a great experience.

The best part of our cake: it was absolutely gorgeous, and it tasted absolutely delicious. The bummer was, between our initial order and our final order, the restaurant changed pastry chefs, and the cost of our cake went up, even though half of it was styrofoam. AND, as most newlyweds probaly know, you don't get to enjoy your cake or food at the wedding! (at least we didn't: we were too busy "making the rounds") Ashley designed the perfect cake for us, and I wish I could say it was worth every penny, but the photos are stunning, and the one bite I had was absolutely delicious! :)

Our cake was amazing!! The best part was that it tasted great! We had a 3-tier cake - first layer carrot cake, second layer hazelnut/coconut and third layer was chocolate with chocolate ganache. Nobody does cakes better! Everyone raved about the cake, and several people went back for seconds of a different flavor. The tasting process was also fun and delicious! We were able to try (8) different cake/icing combinations which was more than most other bakeries allowed or prepared. Additionally, you might think due to the quality of Papa Haydn desserts that their wedding cakes might cost more. They don't! They were right in line with most other bakeries around town - and the flavor and freshness couldn't be beat.

Our cake was perfect! It looked exactly like the photo we provided, and all the different cake layers were delicious!!! We made specific requests for the flavors and fillings for each tier and each one came out perfect! The only bummer is the steep delivery fee for venues outside Portland. Our delivery fee was more than half of the price of the cake itself! But we still wouldn't go with a cake from anywhere else because it was that good!

Papa Haydn is a well known dessert store in Portland. I had been to their restaurant in NW Portland a few years ago and knew that I wanted my cake to be from there for my wedding. We had a very small wedding and got a two layer hexagon shaped cake. It sounds weird but it looked square and was the size we needed. We chose for the bottom a chocolate cake with chocolate ganache and raspberry alternating filling, for the top layer we did carrot cheesecake which was to die for. It had ivory butter cream which was perfect because my dress was ivory. The cake was amazing and everyone loved it. Some guests even took a piece with them to eat when they flew home : ) It was to die for!!!

I recently had Papa Haydn supply my wedding cake & was very pleased with the outcome. It was exactly as described and wanted. It arrived on time, looked amazing & tasted even better!

We got our wedding cake and our rehearsal dinner cake from Papa Haydn's. I strongly recommend them. They were professional and really listened (unlike most of the other places I went to, which tried to convince me of all the extra frills I couldn't possibly live without). Wedding cake is all about presentation, but Papa Haydn's cakes actually taste great too. My cake was beautiful and the cake designer sat down with me and designed exactly what I wanted. Wonderful place.
