My husband and I found out about this little shop because my friend used them for her wedding — we loved her desserts so much that we decided to get some cookies from them for our wedding, too! The jelly tea cookies and macarons were such a hit at our wedding, they disappeared almost instantly! The prices were fair, and we will definitely be going back to Pastries à la Carte!

ying cakes and desserts from Pastries a la Carte for years. We have always loved their cakes and even more so their signature buttercream icing...not sickeningly sweet like most buttercreams. We were also pleasantly surprised to find out that this bakery does not bake their wedding cakes ahead of time and freeze them.
Also, the bakery was great at working with me to figure out exactly what kind of cake I was looking for. I went into our meeting with basically a vague idea what I wanted...and came out with a fantastic cake design and flavor scheme!
On the day of the wedding I received many compliments on the cake. My husband also has continued to express even months later how fantastic the cake was.
I wouldn't hesistate to recommend Pastries a la Carte to anyone for their big celebration!!

cutting cake and then two sheet cakes for the rest of the guests. Pastries A La Carte took the time to put a small icing decoration on each individual slice of cake for the sheet cake so when it was cut, they all looked uniform and gorgeous. That level of detail was what put them above and beyond in my book for our cake vendor. There are many places that can bake cakes that taste good and look pretty but not many that can also take the extra step to ensure that every detail is accounted for in addition to the taste and presentation of the wedding cake. Highest recommendations from us!

no response to email. The Facebook message truly was the last resort.
I know it was greatly appreciated that they arrived with a replacement cake and cupcakes, they were tasty, but since they arrived late, they missed the cake cutting.
Obviously everything was resolved and I never heard the bride complain even once on the day, but it's just upsetting things like this happen when everything was so carefully planned.

BEWARE! They forgot about my wedding!
If you use them make sure you confirm multiple times the week of. We received a full refund and was told I would get a fresh cake for our year...
anniversary- but seriously? I was assured this had never happened before and was a one time mistake. I hope that is the case because I would have really liked to have cut the cake at my wedding.
Our venue was amazing and provided a little last minute cake to cut for photos, but I'm gluten free and could not actually enjoy it.
I still had a wonderful wedding and married the man of my dreams, but will not be recommending this bakery. Furthermore, I know all of the other vendors I worked with will be telling ALL of their future weddings about the situation as well and to tread with caution.

view failed to mention is everything we did to try to rectify our error.
At approximately 6:30pm we were notified via Facebook inquiring as to why we hadn’t delivered your order. Our Manager immediately took action and replied thinking it was clearly a mistake since we have NEVER forgotten an order in the thousands of Wedding cakes we have done over the years. Our manager spoke with family friend Diane and after getting a few questions answered, hung up and contacted the owner Kathy, who was mortified that this could possibly be true. She immediately rushed to the bakery to search for the missing order. In the meantime, our manager called Diane back to let her know that the owners’ were putting together the order and would be arriving within the hour. After a brief conversation with the Mother of the Bride, we did our best to assure her that delicious cupcakes and the 8” gluten free wedding cake would arrive shortly. Patty appeared to be comforted by our efforts but then put a family friend on the phone that did nothing but threaten to sue and site all the reasons he was going to sue. He rambled on for 5 minutes about all the legal ramifications to our error. Our manager assured him that we would take full responsibility for the error but at that moment our PRIMARY CONCERN was to deliver the products to the venue in time for the reception.
While your order called for standard cupcakes and a 6” gluten free cake to be used as your wedding cake, we upgraded you on those products AND brought along tortes and cookie trays that were NOT part of your original order. The owner’s arrived at approximately 7:40 and while salads were being served, delivered all the upgraded cupcakes, tortes, cookies and an 8” Gluten free wedding cake to the dessert area.
While you did mention that you received a FULL REFUND for your original order you failed to mention that you were NOT CHARGED for all of the additional products that were brought to your reception. These products were DOUBLE the cost of your original order.
We continue to strive for perfection with EVERY order and are deeply sorry that your order was misfiled. We are equally sorry if this occurrence caused you any anguish on your wedding day. Congratulations on your nuptials and we look forward to seeing you in the future for your Anniversary cake.

modating. For our tasting she baked us three pretty sizable cakes in the most popular flavours (and gave us the extra to keep). We liked all so much that we chose one for the wedding cake and then ordered an assortment of all three for the dessert table.
Kathy also showed us dozens of photos of other cakes they had made to help us get ideas.
However, none were what I had really envisioned so she sat with me and sketched out a design that captured what I wanted. On the day, the cake came out exactly as I had pictured it. It was perfect.
We also chose and assortment of desserts from our favourites sold by the bakery and our guests couldn’t stop raving about them. I’m sure a bunch of guests went to the shop later in the week to buy desserts for themselves.
I would definitely recommend Patries-A-La-Carte for any event.

r tasting. This was the only bakery that gave us our own whole cake to taste and take home with us. A lot of bakeries just gave us dried, small pieces of cake for a tasting. They were comparable in overall price to the other bakeries I received quotes from. However, they were also the only bakery that was able to include all of our servings in one large three-tier cake, rather than back up sheet cakes. To purchase the same size of three-tier cake from many other bakeries in the area, we would've had to pay almost twice the price or choose a very small three-tier cake for the same price of the large, beautiful one we bought from Pastries a-la-Carte. The cake was also delicious and very well balanced. If you don't want something made from a mix or overly sweet icing, this is the bakery for you.

nterviewings and tastings, I had to admit that nothing, and I mean nothing, could top them.
Due to the pretty hefty cake cutting fee at our venue, we decided to go with gourmet cupcakes, and Pastries a la Carte's cupcakes most definitely did not disappoint. They were enormous and incredibly delicious, and they came in flavors that suited everyone at the wedding! We went with their coconut/pineapple, optical illusion, red velvet, and s'mores flavors (and let me tell you I ate at least one of each the morning after the wedding:) ). They also baked our beautiful wedding cake, which was a 2 tiered round. We'd asked them to write one of our favorite book quotes around it--the cake looked and tasted delicious, and went perfectly with our theme!
Kathy was also incredibly accommodating--even though she had limited experience baking vegan, she made 2 dozen vegan salted caramel cupcakes for our vegan guests that tasted just as good as the non-vegan cupcakes! Plus her team wrapped each individual cupcake in special book page cupcake wraps that we'd prepared--the finished product looked like a Pinterest photo!!
We rented and returned their stands for the cupcakes without a problem, and the way they set everything up for the big day was flawless. Not to mention their prices are unbeatable!
I 100% recommend them--definitely the tastiest part of our big day :)

Not only were they extremely friendly and professional, they were able take a random picture from online and make it a reality. The cake turned out perfect and was a big hit at the wedding! of pictures to show and came up with drawings right there, based on what we described that we wanted. Their cake tasted incredible. We got buttercream icing, the cake itself was moist and we had a layer of raspberry - to die for. On our wedding day, the cake looked exactly how I wanted it to, and it tasted amazing -- plus the price was more than reasonable.
I also ordered our groom's cake, which was very good but they didn't follow my instruction entirely, so I had to unfortunately sacrifice some of the design that was initially agreed upon. It still looked nice, but wasn't what we discussed and therefore wasn't as customized as I hoped. However, despite that I would highly recommend Pastries ala Carte; their value, quality and taste was everything we were looking for - and it photographed great! Plus, the owners, The Battis', are very easy to work with!

My husband and I spent all that time picking the perfect cake...but at our wedding the only taste we got was during the cutting of the cake. We went back to Pastries a la Carte and explained that we wanted a small cake just for us so that we could enjoy it. They made us another small cake and it was delicious!!! We loved working with Pastries a la Carte and would recommend anyone to visit their bakery. (For the price, we did have cake for 250 people)
