Paxton Photography is a wedding photographer based in Cedar, MI, servicing the Northern Michigan areas. The owner, Meg Paxton, strives to capture the magic and feelings unique to a wedding in film. This photographer offers great communication, excellent attention to detail, and a drive to produce beautiful images. With over 20 years of photography experience, Meg has developed a timeless and romantic style, with her own twist of originality. She is a creative and artistic mind, who takes inspiration from the world around her. This inspiration is funneled into everything she does, and gives her the vigor to capture natural and emotive moments throughout the day. Meg encourages couples to think about their own vision for their nuptials, and how they wish to be portrayed. She understands that not everyone is comfortable in front of a camera, and will work with the couple to overcome any nervousness. This photographer shies away from traditional photography, and couples who book her can expect an element of individuality in their shots. Meg offers a choice of four standard packages for wedding photography, and can customize these to suit the couple’s needs. Each package includes hard copy prints, an unlimited proof book, and a master USB drive with a print release form, as well as online proofing. Depending on the package chosen, Meg can bring a second photographer. As well as wedding services, she offers bridal portrait, engagement sessions, and day-after photography. This photographer is also available for destination weddings.

We were married mid-day at Lane Road Beach in Port Oneida, MI, and Meg made sure things went off without a hitch. Not only did she wrangle our 3-year-old golden retriever (who was very upset he couldn’t go into Lake Michigan), keep our 9, 7, and 6 year old ring bearers from picking poison ivy before the ceremony, roll with the fact that our officiant was 30 minutes late to the ceremony, she also brought the exact number of umbrellas we needed to keep our wedding party dry during rainy beach photos. When Meg emailed us our wedding photo previews (less than two weeks after the wedding -- this woman is a machine) she also informed us that she found two Petoskey stones at our wedding site, which she had made into charms so we could have mementos of our beautiful day.
As we’ve shared our photos with our friends and family, we’ve received such compliments as “hands down the best wedding photos I’ve ever seen,” “it’s too bad you can’t just hang 57 wedding photos in your house,” and “I honestly just cannot believe there are so many good ones.” And she was only with us for 2 hours!

as I got there she came into the bridal suite and instead of rushing into things because we were already a little behind, she calmly came to me and asked "How are you doing?" and really meant it. It was the perfect way to calm my stress and let me know everything was under control and was going to be fabulous.
Additionally, our wedding was supposed to have been outside - it was something both me and my husband really had our hearts set on - but Mother Nature just absolutely was not having it! On the day of our wedding, she was wonderful. We didn't give her many specifics, but she really captured all the special moments of our day. She took beautiful, and some really creative, pictures that we have gotten so many compliments about. She was also great at keeping things on track throughout the day, and was prepared for the little emergencies that popped up. At the beginning of our reception, my bustle kept falling down (something I was not prepared for) and she was able to fix it for me with safety pins. My husband and I both have very large families, and Meg did a great job getting them organized for family photos. Before she left, she came over to ask if there were any other shots that we wanted or felt like we missed earlier in the day.

e the duties of a normal photographer. One of my bridesmaid had wardrobe malfunction when the back seam on her dress split up the back. Meg came prepared and sewed her up in the bathroom. The guests had no clue there was any problem at all. Needless to say that bridesmaid loves Meg. Then once she say my dress and how it was bustled (the seamstress just gave up and said that was the best she could do, but left a few pieces dragging) Meg said that will not do and finished bustling it with safety pins so that I wouldn't have to worry about anyone stepping on it while dancing.
It is for these reasons that we are so happy we chose Paxton photography to do our pictures. I have found that it's the little things at people do so make your dreams come true that matter. She could have just let us figure things out, but instead she went above a normal photographer to make sure there wasn't any stress and we had the wedding of our dreams!

Dog-mom of three and home-rehab addict! I have found a great balance in my life that lets me be creative all day, every day. When I am not surgically attached to my computer editing your lovely event, I can be found refinishing furniture or building something. Martha Stewart and Pinterest have nothing on me (so says my mother)!
