Hi, I'm Payton! I'm a local and destination wedding + elopement photographer based in Oklahoma City. In a world that puts so many expectations or obligations to tradition when it comes to a wedding day, I am here to empower couples to plan a day that feels true to them. Whatever kind of celebration you’re planning - an elopement just the two of you, an intimate ceremony with just your closest friends and family, or an all-day party - I am here to help and document every moment in a relaxed and candid way. Along with being your badass photographer, I’m also your hype man, your wardrobe assistant, your dance partner, your friend.
I specialize in artful wedding + elopement photography for intentional couples. Whether your love feels at home in NYC or a national park, I'm here for the couples who celebrate their wedding however they want. As a queer woman, I believe love is for everyone. I have built my business around inclusivity, kindness, and appreciating the earth. Photography is my dream way of spending my life telling the stories of adventurous couples, exploring new places, celebrating love, and capturing unforgettable moments.
I grew up loving stories, hiding away in my room and reading for hours on end. But when I finally picked up a camera for the first time, I realized stories weren't just found in books. Payton gave us advice on things outside of photos like wedding day timeline, what we should do entertainment wise at reception and how long that should go, etc. She responds quickly and is always professional. She also sent us a pre wedding gift basket that had personalized things with our names on it. So kind. Payton has a calmly presence that everyone around her can feel. During our wedding day, she was always reassuring us if we were stressed and hyping us up saying we look amazing. Whether you feel like a naturally photogenic person or you can’t pose at all, Payton will help in just the right ways. She will give direct for how to pose or stand or where to face, but she also just captures you candid and naturally so well. Her work speaks for itself honestly. I’ve only received my sneak peek and am still blown away. She had creative ideas for detail shots, an eye for capturing pretty moments before the person even noticed her, and her style just captures the day exactly how you want it. She tried to get to know you best to understand what you want in wedding photos, and you can see a lot of variety in her works as she adjusts styles some to meet your vision. I made sure to ask each potential photographer to send me an example of a full wedding gallery they have done, because I know photos on Instagram can be somewhat deceiving compared to a full gallery. The galleries that Payton sent me were SO far above any beyond what any other photographer sent me- each photo she took was absolute magic. My fiancé had mentioned that every other gallery just looked like "someone had a camera at a wedding", but said Payton's galleries looked like "someone creating art", and I think that sums up her work perfectly.
Apart from her amazing photos, Payton is truly such a delightful human being, she is so kind, professional, and her response time is unmatched. Like many other couples who planned to get married this year, my husband and I faced a very difficult time. Our wedding was originally planned and ready to go for early April when COVID-19 hit and local lockdowns went into effect. Unfortunately, we had roughly one week to decide if we would cancel or reschedule our wedding since our deposits would become non-refundable within thirty (30) days of our event, which added a level of stress that we wouldn't wish on anyone. Payton was understanding and was willing to work with us to find a later date for our wedding.
We planned something with just our family and wedding parties for a few months later. Payton made this as painless as possible and helped us along the way. She truly cares for each couple she photographs and that's obvious from the first time you meet her. The photos she gave us turned out better than we ever could've expected! Her kindness, understanding and genuine smile made a difficult year much easier. She is quick to answer any questions you might have and help you in every way she can. e got married on the winter solstice (meaning the shortest day of the year) which meant we could not get gorgeous golden hour photos after our ceremony together. We didn’t prefer to do a first look either, so it looked like portraits of my husband and I were going to be in the dark or inside.
That didn’t phase Payton. She and her husband, Michael, got creative with lighting and how they set up shots. So darn creative!
When she delivered our gallery I was blown away. She made light magic! Our photos in the dark were better than most other photographers’ pictures of people in the daylight. To take a problem like darkness and create beauty in it shows that any challenge your wedding day throws at her, Payton will handle with ease and grace.
Just trust her. Give her the room to let that brilliant mind work, and she will deliver your love story in photos. She is incredible at finding the unique ways you love your partner, or how you hold their hand or lean into their chest that’s different. And she captures it and uses that to pose you in new ways that are comfortable and fit your vibe.
