The Peabody Essex Museum is a modern museum wedding venue located in Salem, MA. As one of America’s most innovative art museums, its goal is to foster relationships between cultures through education. The open-plan Atrium is a breathtaking location to recite your vows. The museum is spread across more than 500,000 square feet, making it one of the largest art galleries in the country. With the addition of a new wing in September 2019, the museum’s main building expands another 40,000 square feet. The Atrium welcomes guests with its high, arched glass roof, letting in plenty of natural daylight and twinkling starlight. Its open-plan layout can host large parties and banquets. The Atrium can host celebrations of up to 250 guests, making it the museum’s largest event space. Galleries such as the East India Marine Hall and the Forbes & Copeland Galleries are suitable for intimate gatherings. Weddings held here receive the services of museum staff to help organize vendors on the day of the event. Facilitators ensure the seamless execution of the day’s festivities so couples can enjoy their special day. The maintenance and security teams are also on hand to aid in set-up and preserve the museum’s collections. In order to protect the artwork, open-flame candles are prohibited, although battery-operated votives are permitted.
