Pennington's Cakes

I am Celiac and have a Whey Protein Allergy meaning I can't have dairy. Pennington's made a tasting menu for me so I got to taste it and wait and make sure I didn't get sick before booking. I am so glad they were truly so careful with allergies because the cake was amazing! I got a lemon cake & vanilla with pineapple filling. It was all so good and looked absolutely beautiful! It was exactly what I wanted and I was so happy I got to have wedding cake.

My husband has celiac, and if you weren't told the cake was gluten-free, you'd have no way of knowing. We were supposed to have greenery on our cake, but the florist didn't get any in time, and Pennington Cakes cut flowers on the spot and made it look like it had been planned from the start. There were a couple of very minor cons: cake was supposed to be red but it was unquestionably very pink and it was strongly coconut flavored and we didn't ask for coconut (though as a coconut lover I was rather pleased with it) but for the price, professionalism, and especially taste, I really can't recommend them enough. It was truly delicious

My sister-in-law hired Pennington’s Cakes for her wedding a few years ago, so we went to go check it out. We loved the flavors offered, and I trusted them to get the cake to the venue from San Marcos to San Antonio. I know that is far BUT we tried a cake place by our venue 1) it was more expensive and 2) the flavors didn’t compare to what Pennington’s offers. I am so glad we went with Pennington’s. They are friendly, helpful, and they created the 4-tier naked cake I wanted! Stephen got it to the venue and set it up so quickly. I will continue to give them my business!

Stephen and his team were so easy to work with and created the cakes that we had been imagining! The cakes were absolutely stunning and when we cut into them they were even better. Pennington’s makes the best cakes in the area hands down!

Our cakes were delicious, moist, and lots of flavor in every bite! They both turned out beautiful!!

Everything was so delicious we only had 5 cupcakes left over out of 150 cupcakes! Their gluten free was absolutely delicious!

We booked Pennington’s cake for our wedding cake without even trying them first based off reviews we read. We finally got to taste it and it was amazing! We got white cake with raspberry filling and a chocolate cake with a chocolate filling. Both were amazing but the raspberry was amazing. We’re not huge cake fans to begin with but my now husband was seriously blown away and kept talking about it. Would definitely recommend and their prices are totally reasonable

Pennington's was recommended by my caterer and I am beyond happy with their service. I went into the tasting not sure of flavors and by the end had everything picked out. We were able to design a gorgeous cake, delicious cupcakes and substitute banana pudding shooters for the grooms cake. We were able to borrow a cake stand and have it delivered with no problem. I had no idea what a gem we had in San Marcos until now. I will definitely order from them in the future as well. Loved it all!

I am beyond impressed with Pennington Cakes and treats for my wedding. We ordered a three tier chocolate, vanilla, and carrot cake - MASTERPIECE. During our consultation, Steven showed us an array of flavors, icings, and designs to help up decide on our cake. He was very professional, inviting, and you can truly tell he loves his job- which made a huge difference to us. We also bought 100 sugar cookies that he hand decorated and those were a HIT! I mean, they all got eaten. They were absolutely gorgeous and even better tasting. I can't say enough great things about this company!

Best cake and service ever!!! The design was just what both my husband and I wanted. The cake was moist and not dry like other wedding cakes I’ve had in the past. No wonder why they have been around for a long time. We actually had a guest that ate 4 slices of cake that night. Thank you and we look forward to using you in the future for other events.

GREAT Cake! They made us a beautiful semi-naked bridal cake and placed flowers on it and an awesome Aggie Barn grooms cake! Not only did they both look amazing, they tasted even better. The time and effort put into making the cakes look great was very apparent.

I can’t say enough good things about Pennington’s Cakes!! My fiancé and I live in the DFW area and made a trip down to San Marcos to take care of some wedding contracts. My future brother in law recommended Pennington’s Cakes and we knew we want to try them. Steve allowed us to come in after hours to allow us to have our consultation. Not only was the cake amazing, the price could not be beat. I can’t wait to see how our cake turns out!

We had Pennington's Cakes bake the cake for our wedding. It was so delicious! The process was so easy from the beginning of cake tasting to a stress-free delivery. They even decorated our cake with flowers we had gotten from our florist. We received so many compliments on how beautiful and delicious our cake was. If you are in the central Texas area, I strongly recommend choosing Pennington as your vendor. You won't regret it!

When there are any changes, they do not call you back and do not respond to emails . Lost $500 + due to THEIR inability to communicate . They told me I paid with credit card past the due date (paid with check) yet can't provide me with a receipt that I have been asking for for over a week now. Customer service is the worst . I would avoid at all costs

Pennington Cakes did an amazing job!! They have always been my go-to for birthday cakes so it was a no brainer that we had to use them for our wedding cake. The cake was definitely my favorite part of the whole wedding. They really listened to what we wanted and brought our vision to life. Not to mention how delicious it was! We even had a super tasty red velvet Captain America shield as the grooms cake that looked amazing!

Everything about Pennington’s was amazing, most especially the cake! We saved and froze our top layer to eat on our anniversary...but about six weeks after our wedding, my husband and I busted into it because we just couldn’t help ourselves. That’s how good it was. Definitely the best cake I’ve had at any wedding (sure, I’m biased, but I’ve been to a lot of weddings and it’s true...we got tons of compliments on it). It was also beautiful - exactly what I pictured - and very reasonable priced compared to other bakers we looked at. Steven was terrific to work with. We can’t wait to go back to Pennington’s for a visit and an anniversary treat.

First off, I have lived in San Marcos for ten years, and had not tasted a Pennington's Cakes cake until my wedding cake testing appointment! Where have I been?! They were delicious! Needless to say, they were the first and only cakes we tasted! My husband and I are very indecisive, so we brought my sister, godson, and stepson to the appointment. Stephen was so nice, professional, and polite, and we never felt pressured to choose anything in particular. He listened to what we envisioned, and the result was not only delicious, but BEAUTIFUL and affordable! My husband was so pleased after our initial meeting that he ordered a cake for his mom for Mother's Day! Stephen remembered him, and gave him a small discount for ordering a wedding cake from them! How awesome! I was worried about my flowers for the cake, since the contract said "flowers on site." I had no idea how I was going to place them so they would look cute, and worried that I wouldn't even have time to do that. Lucky for me, when I came out to check on the cake delivery, Stephen was already done placing my flowers in the most perfect way! It was one less thing to worry about! I was also worried about cutting all the cakes, but he also gave us instructions on cutting them, so that helped! I will definitely be using Pennington's again for any other cake needs, and look forward to trying more of their desserts once I shed some of these wedding cake pounds! You will not be disappointed with their customer service, expertise, and talent!

Wow!!! Working with Pennington’s Cakes was an absolute blessing. From cake tasting to our wedding cake and cupcakes at our wedding, they are definitely a great place to hire for any of your upcoming events. Their deserts are absolutely delicious!! We had several different fillings in our cupcakes: pineapple, raspberry, and chocolate that were amazing. Our guests ranted and raved about how beautiful our cake and cupcakes were (even wanted to eat them before we cut the cake, ha), but even more so loved how they tasted. My husband and I are very pleased with how everything turned out and how tasty the cake was. They were very easy to work with, accommodating, and made our special day very memorable. Pennington cakes is the place to go! From the cake tasting to the wedding, the whole team was very helpful, professional, and catered to our every need. The cake tasted great and everyone loved it! Our venue unfortunately threw away our top tier, but Pennington's worked out a way to get a new one with my parents for my husband and I's one year anniversary. Pennington’s did a great job on our cake! We had a four tier lemon and red velvet cake. My husband isn’t into sweets much and he liked it! It tasted really good and was a great price for the quality!!

Two Grooms Pennington's did an amazing job! There was not much "traditional" about our wedding so we didn't want the dessert to be either. We opted for four different cakes of different flavors and several dozen cookies of four different types. Everything was completed on time, exactly how we had requested and received rave reviews from our guests. Steven and everyone at Pennington's was a pleasure to work with and we knew we had nothing to worry about. My only regret is that I never got one of the chocolate dipped Madeleines! I guess we will have to stop by for one soon! Highly recommended and we will definitely use them again!!

I could speak for days about my experience with Pennington's. Just wonderful! You have come to the right place. I booked them for my wedding this past June and worked directly with Steven. He was amazing! There was one day I stopped by unannounced and he wasn't in, but one of his employees helped me with no issues at all. Like most bride-to-be's, I tried several different cake places, but this was the most affordable option plus amazing quality cakes and excellent service. I didn't think you could tell the difference in good quality cakes until I went cake tasting for my wedding and I soon learned the difference! Steven was very thorough from day one and was open to any and all suggestions I had. As our wedding day got closer, I had already paid off the cakes but realized that the serving amounts were much larger than my expected guest count, as that amount changed from my original anticipated amount. Well not only did Pennington's adjust our order to accommodate our new count, but were quick to refund what they owed us. The quality of cake can be seen in the pictures (they were even better in person) and the taste was talked about for days with my family and friends. We had two cakes for our wedding with about 4 or 5 different flavors because all the cake was so good we couldn't narrow it down! Thank you Pennington's for being so incredible. We will be back!

Just wanted to say a heartfelt thank you for our gorgeous USMC wedding cake! It was so beautifully crafted that it took my breath away when I first saw it. Our guests were amazed! It sliced beautifully and was out-of-this-world delicious. It was so good that there was none left over after the lunch, but we kept the EGA decoration from the top. Pennington's Cakes was wonderful to work with from start to finish and I will recommend you most highly to anyone that asks. Thank you again.

Steven and his team really worked some magic for us! We had a beautiful five tier brides cake and a second two tier groom's cake that were made to perfection and delivered with no problems! The cakes were even more delicious than when we had sampled them! Even days later, the left overs are super moist and high quality! I will certainly have to come back to Pennington's for future events in need of a cake!

Pennington's was extremely affordable in comparison to the bakeries in Austin and they provided a wonderful product. My cake was exactly what I had imagined it and tasted even better!! The cookies were outstanding too. There were no leftovers at all! They also provided a box and instructions for our top layer cake which was very helpful. The only thing that was a challenge was communication. Their emails went to my spam folder so it seemed like I couldn't get a hold of them. I'd say for any bride using them, be sure to check your spam folder!

From the instant we spoke to people at the bakery, we felt at ease that everyone was going to do their best to ensure we got exactly what we wanted! Our wedding cake was phenomenal! We came down to Texas from Alaska and Pennington cakes made everything so easy for us. The cake was delicious and it looked exactly how I had described. We used Pennington's Cakes for the groom's cake at our wedding. We went in for our consultation and tasting and were impressed right away. All of the cake flavors were so good, it was hard to pick one! They were willing to work with us to make the very customized cake that my husband wanted that worked with our budget. The cake was delivered right on time, it was delicious, and it looked incredible!

As soon as you get to your cake tasting at Pennington's Cake shop the smell is so intoxicating it smells like what a bakery should smell like. They bring you samples and water and want to know your thoughts and opinion and are open to what you have to say. The Bridal cake was a four tier wedding cake, one tier was Italian cream cake, the guest loved that one and ate it all up, the other tiers were white cake with a thin pineapple filling. The Groom cake was a chocolate Batman logo. Our guest loved both cakes, the chocolate batman cake was gone in a matter of minutes.. the Groom did not get to even get a bite. I would totally recommend Pennington cakes. The only reason I did not give them five stars is that the cakes didn't look like exactly what we wanted but of course none of our guest noticed or even cared. We loved the experience working with the team and Pennington Cakes! Will totally keep them in mind when looking for cakes in the future!

Pennington's made a beautiful 5 layer cake for my daughters Sweet 16th Birthday. Everyone loved the cake and said it was so good. We had 3 flavors, Red Velvet, Vanilla, & Chocolate and all were a great hit. We had no cake leftover which I was so happy everyone enjoyed. Pennington's is the only place I will ever order cakes from.

Our wedding cakes were absolutely perfect! the bride's cake was 4 tear big with flowers all over it and it was beautiful... guests also complimented us on how delicious it was! The grooms cake had two scuba divers on it and the bride had a veil, it was absolutely perfect! We loved Pennington cakes and highly recommend them! Not only will your cake be perfect looking, it'll taste good too!!!

We came to Penningtons after a referral from our caterer. After trying about a dozen cake places this one fit the bill. The cake was awesome. We were wanting something specific that we had at a wedding in Hawaii and Penningtons was the only place that was courageous to take on the challenge! The cake flavor turned out great which was the most important to me. I absolutely did not care what the cake looked like as long as it tasted good. Well behold it ended up being beautiful too!

We loved our cake! Since we live in Boston, we were unable to come in for a cake tasting before choosing Pennington's for our wedding. However, we hired them based on all of their amazing reviews, and they were definitely right! After a 20-minute phone consultation with Steven, we placed our order. The cake was absolutely DELICIOUS and looked just like I imagined it would! Our wedding coordinator saved the top tier for us to enjoy on our anniversary, but the cake was honestly so good that we couldn't wait. I am the mother of the bride and I am so happy my daughter and son in law chose Pennington's Cakes. The cakes turned out beautiful and were delicious. When looking for wedding vendors the one I had the hardest time finding was a cake vendor. However, after looking at a few that I thought were outrageous for the price and not the best cake flavors, I found Pennington's Cakes. Let me just say the cake flavors are absolutely amazing!!! I was obsessed with the strawberry swirl (which is what we chose) and the chocolate cake, and I don't normally like strawberry cake or chocolate cake. I showed them pictures of the cake I liked that another bakery had drawn (I know shame on me) and they executed it well. It was so hot on the day that the cake melted a little, but that would be expected with any place. There, prices weren't unreasonable either. They were less than 1,000 with the fondant flowers! Everyone loved the cake! I can't wait to eat it on our anniversary!

My husband and I used Pennington's for our wedding in October 2014 and had a fantastic experience with them. When we first got to their shop for our initial tasting, we were greeted with smiles and a warm welcome. They wasted no time bringing us out samples which were all nicely displayed and described before tasting. It may sound odd that I had to mention that, but we had several cake shops just sit and look at us waiting for us to talk and it felt very awkward, We were blown away with by all of Pennington's flavor options. Their cake tastes like nothing we had ever had before and decided on using Pennington's the same day. We went with the strawberry swirl cake, and we had an ombre ruffled design which faded from white to teal. They did a great job of taking notes on what we wanted for our cake, and also called leading up to the wedding to ensure we wanted the same design/colors. The day of our wedding, they arrived on time and set up without a hitch. Our guests loved our cake, both for how beautiful it turned out and how delicious it was. We would recommend Pennington's to anyone.

Pennington's Cakes provided my lace themed, 4 tier wedding cake and not only was it beautiful, it was delicious! They also provided the not so flattering Groom's drunken armadillo cake which was equally impressive. 5 stars all around!!

The team at Pennington's Cakes is to be commended for their brilliant creations. I spent a lot of time researching cake designer's for my daughter's wedding. Pennington's Cakes seemed to be at the top of every list of local vendors. After seeing the finished product, I see why. The initial vision was perfectly captured and the flavor of the cake was the best I have ever tasted. These sentiments were stated over and over again by the guests at the reception. A job very well done!

Our wedding was August 31 and we had a tasting with Pennington's on July 31. Not only were they able to take my request in such short notice, but they really listened to what I wanted. Ended up with a 3 tier cake, buttercream frosting and strawberry swirl filling - DELICIOUS!!! The design was also EXACTLY what I wanted. They even set up the cake and provided the perfect, beautiful cake stand to use during the reception. Highly recommend!!

These guys did an awesome job! I loved the cake and it turned out beautifully. We ordered both the brides and grooms cake from Pennington's Cakes and they did flawlessly!
