Penny was absolutely spectacular! We used her for day of coordination, and she far surpassed my expectations. The day went off without a hitch and she made sure my DIY venue was perfect. She communicated in a timely manner in the month leading up to the wedding. She really put me at ease during the rehearsal as well. Would use her again any day!
We live in the San Francisco bay area and chose to have a destination wedding in southern California 350 miles away near Joshua Tree. Logistically, this meant that our guests would be coming from all over the world & meeting in the Mojave Desert.
We joined weddingwire.com a year in advance and we quickly came to the realization, that if we tried to manage everything ourselves on our ‘big day ‘that we would not enjoy our own wedding! Then, we found Penny Miller on weddingwire.com. After an initial phone consultation, we arranged an on site meeting at our venue, a rustic barn in Pioneertown, CA called the Pioneertown Soundstage. Within three minutes of meeting Penny in person, she shared helpful insights in a “I’ve been there and done that and I can handle anything thrown at me” kind of way. We knew she knew her stuff and we hired her on the spot, for a hybrid package including the weekend of wedding planning and coordination. In the months leading up to the wedding events, we’d periodically ask Penny’s advice which was always spot on and answered quickly. Money well invested.
As a visual artist and designer who creates interiors, events and plantscapes, I had definite ideas for my our wedding and the decor. My partner and I had planned two days of events, which required three different scene changes and set designs within the big rustic barn. Event one was a “Spaghetti Western Party” with live music on Saturday night after the wedding rehearsal, t Sunday the wedding and reception in the same space. Over six months time, I worked with Penny by email communicating and coordinating our venders, timing and décor details for each event and scene change. Closer to the wedding, I created old timey decorations and sourced antique props and unconventional table art, handmade from recycled objects that Penny’s team would need to install in a short window between the wedding and reception. A week before the wedding, my team and staff at Deeper Green in northern California, cut and strung thick green garlands as barn decor.
On the Saturday morning of our wedding weekend, we turned the reins over to Penny and her team and entrusted them to manage the details of our wedding day.
There was a 90-minute window to complete a major “Scene Change” between the wedding ceremony and reception. While our quests stepped outside of the barn to enjoy a weekend western performance in Pioneertown, Penny’s team transformed the barn according to plan creating a beautiful venue ready for the reception in perfect time for our guest’s arrival back inside the Soundstage.
Penny Miller’s adept handling of vendors and our hired team made our wedding day a huge success. Many of our guests complimented us for making them feel so comfortable and taking care of their needs. Penny and her team allowed us to be free of details logistics, planning, and potential disruptions and able to relax, party and enjoy our guests on our wedding day. PRICELESS!
I made the big mistake of thinking I could do it all on my wedding day and only hired Penny as the day of coordinator because my venue required it. Looking back my BIGGEST regret from my wedding was not having her at least a week or 2 leading up to the wedding. She came on Friday for the rehearsal and put up with my loud bridal party (I was getting more aggravated with them to just pay attention). Then on the wedding day she kept asking me what I needed. I wish I had let her do more than me trying to control everything. I wasn't a stressful bride leading up the wedding but on the wedding day it all hit me. Penny was so on top of things I can't picture anyone else being as good at their job as Penny. I've already recommended her to every upcoming bride I know!
Penny and her team were great! She was my Day Of coordinator. I am a non-profit event planner so I really had everything but the "day-of" covered. I was able to really trust Penny to take care of details so I could enjoy my day.
Strengths: The 2 weeks before she was totally on top of my vendors. She made sure little details that slipped my mind (e.g. cake cutting knife) were covered.
Weakness: I asked her to keep me updated throughout the morning. I realized as I was riding to the wedding I hadn't hear from her, so I had a few minutes of panic before I could reach someone at the venue to make sure it was all set up. She also added a couple style details that I hadn't asked for that weren't really my style, but no one noticed and I know she was trying to go the extra mile for me.
Hello to all of the other brides looking for a great lady to help you with your DIY wedding. I recommend Penny Miller and her Assistant. I met Penny by chance on my Bachelorette wine tour party with her other company Little Bus Tours. I all so had a great time on this tour. Mrs Miller was a great help to me with my wedding. I was able to have a private resort wedding with all of my guests staying at one location, and no worries of drunk driving issues. And she even worked it out to where my total cost of the wedding venue and extras was only $11500.00. That included the location, banquet room for dinner, Buffet style dinner, 1 hour of cocktails (Beer & Wine), DJ, Tables and Linens and flowers. For a total guest count of 100 people. By the time my guests paid for their rooms the total came down to $8500.00 for all of that. all of the other places we were looking at wanted around $12000.00 and my guests would still need to pay for their rooms on top of that.
The wedding was so beautiful, and it went off like a well choreographed dance with Mrs. Miller as the coach making sure every step was to beat. My brides mades and grooms men were spaced perfectly as they waled down the isle, and he got my little flower girl to walk down the isle with a big smile on her face by adding some little gummy bears in her basket for her to have as she walked down and dropped the flowers. 1 flower 1 gummy bear . My Aunt said it was the cutest thing she had ever seen. Once the wedding was done she had everyone moved to the cocktail are where the were able to have drinks while we got extra photos on the beautiful lawns. Our entrance was perfect, and the toasts were timed so that no one would over do it and ramble on. I was having a problem because my father is in a wheel chair, Penny and my dad gave me a very special gift and she played Butterfly kisses, and my dad had me sit on his lap and danced with me in his chair. This is the type of things she did way beyond what i had ever expected. My sister inlaw Jennifer just booked her Bachelorette party with her all so. Her prices are fantastic and her services are way more that she told me she would do. Thank you so much Mrs Miller we all had a great time and it did not put my parents in the poor house giving me a beautiful wedding.
I had a very small wedding just 60 guests, and in a private home in Lajolla over looking the beach. Even though i had just hired Penny as my day of director, she did so much more. From set-up to tear down she ran it very smoothly. My guests and family had nothing but good things to say about her professionalism, and eye for detail. i recommend her highly and her prices are fantastic.

I did a diy wedding on a budget. Thought i had everything i needed except for someone to run things on that day. Found Penny on the knot and had a 1 hour free consult with her. She went through what i had already in place and then added comments about the things that i had forgotten all about. She then talked to me vender for our rentals and got us a better price, hooked my dad up with wedding insurance. Who know there was such a thing, and got me a great bar tender at a very good rate. The day of the wedding she was there before anyone else, helped set-up and greeted all of the guests. She even had a special umbrella set up by my grands table to make sure that they did not get to much sun. Just to name a few things that they do. . All of my guests had a great time and my day was totally stress free. Thank you very much, and my dad just called her about doing their 50th wedding anniversary party where they are redoing their vows.
In July My daughter lost we wedding location 10 days before the date, we were referred to Penny by a friend to see if she could help us. She was great, the wedding went off on the scheduled date and everything was so very beautiful. She was able to locate us a new location at a beautiful remote park. She helped to get all of the permits and worked with all of the venders that we could. She also found others venders at a great price to fill in with the ones we had lost. Worth every cent.. My Daughters day was a great occasion and every one had a great time.
