All retouched wedding photos are typically ready for viewing within a four to six week period and engagement photos within a week. Last fall of 2020 when we got engaged, we began to plan and were searching for wedding photographers. We came across Penny on the Knot, gave her a call and immediately decided she was the photographer for us. We were thrilled to find out she di...
d a complimentary engagement session. We went down to meet her on a cold December day last winter at some of Newport's historic buildings and she was so friendly and accommodating. We weren't the type of couple that had a lot of specific photos we wanted and we just sort of went with the flow and Penny had some great suggestions for locations and poses as she is very familiar with the area and an expert at what she does. Our engagement pictures came out amazing and we couldn't wait to see our photos from our big day. Penny and her co-photographer showed up on wedding day early and immediately got to work. We couldn't have asked for a more professional pair as they were very organized and got all the photos we wanted and then some. Talk about efficient as well. Less than one week after our big day we had our entire album ready for us to view to relive our big day and the pictures were amazing. We were thrilled with the amount of photos as well as the quality. If you want a friendly, no pressure, professional photographer for your big day, look no further, you won't be disappointed. We plan on reaching out to Penny for future sessions when the time comes!
Oh goodness where do I even start. In the end our pictures came out nice. But I would never recommend penny to any bride unless you want issues and to be let down time after time. She ultimately wasn’t able to show up for our engagement photos ...
and had to have someone else do them after moving them 4 times because of Covid brides rescheduling then someone asked her to take rehearsal pictures then ended up having to move and so on. After complaining she gave us $200 off our pictures if we chose to order them. Then comes our wedding a year and a half later and she has the wrong date down for our wedding contract( partially my fault because I signed it and didn’t catch the mistake, but in all the emails it was stated as 6/10) and couldn’t do it because she double booked the date and then somehow agreed to do it. Ultimately when it came down to it days before the wedding she caught Covid and wasn’t able to attend. Thankfully she assigned us another wonderful photographer who we loved, but it’s not who we agreed to. Penny never apologized once and instead just came up with excuses and was only concerned with her money even before the date agreed upon. All and all we contracted Penny to do our engagement and wedding photos and she was unable to make either of those shoots which was very disappointing and only did the editing.

ement session - When there is over a year before the wedding, there was enough time to reschedule on a day that was both convenient for everyone. It was feasible to reschedule the engagement session but impossible for me to reschedule my move. Unfortunately, I was given no choice but to have an associate photographer cover for me. My apologies were sent and also offered a $200 photo credit.
My contract is clear in outlining the terms and conditions. It clearly outlines if I am ill or physically unable to shoot your wedding or engagement. My contract also outlines when payments are due.
I was hoping to regain the confidence and offer apologies and did something special. I completed the post production edits on all the wedding photos within just a few days after the wedding.

m my husband's point of view, she had an injured foot but still got down on the ground to get the perfect shot/angle - thats how he knew she's the best! That day she also had lots of other ideas for us for our engagement shoot and took the time to get to know us and get the absolute perfect pictures. We met with her twice before our June 2018 wedding and she met us halfway between her home in RI and our home in CT, armed with plenty of her work to show us ad help us customize the perfect package for our wants, needs and budget. Her packages are really good deals as far as what they include and what they cost. I was amazed by the price compared to many other highly priced photographers. Her work is quality and she gets it done quick. We had previews the next morning, and the full album in less than 2 weeks. You get full access to all the photos online, a flashdrive with all the pictures, and the ability for your family and friends to logon and get download pictures too, among any other idea you may come up with that you want to include in your package. I had taken ideas from other photographers packages that were more expensive, and Penny was able to include those ideas in ours for the better price. You can't go wrong with using Penny for your photography needs.

e middle of a nor’easter, rain and winds did not stop us from getting the pictures of our dreams.
Her turnaround time is perfect! We were able to relive our favorite day on our one month anniversary and she even provided us with a sneak peak just a day after the wedding. She is super sweet and so calm. Her organization and directions were just what we needed for a large bridal party and the most awkward couple when it comes to picture taking 😅

On the contrary, Penny's warm and serene personality, along with her knowledge and skill, put me at ease through our entire planning process and the day of the wedding. We trusted her opinion every step of the way, and are SO glad we did. I am VERY particular when it comes to photography and had a specific look and style in mind for our wedding. Some photographers have an inexperienced, cheap look. Penny, hands down, had the best photos out of anyone I researched! AND her prices are reasonable, especially for what she delivers. Our engagement photoshoot with Penny was such fun, and we got to know her as a friend before our Big Day. Both our engagement and wedding photos turned out phenomenally!! (Penny also did portraits for my now-husband to use professionally, which were perfection!) We've received so many compliments on all of our photos, already! We plan to get a puppy soon, and will have kids down the line - we plan to turn to Penny to capture these moments for us! gagement shoot was lots of fun and the pictures were just what we'd hoped for, but our wedding day experience with Penny and her assistant, Stephanie, was top notch. She captured all of the important moments of the day and all of the in betweens through candids as well. So many of our guests reached out to us after to comment on how discreet she was both during the ceremony and the reception, such that the celebration continued but they never really noticed her snapping all of those great shots!
We priced several photographers prior to settling on Penny Souza. Her prices were so much more reasonable than others out there and the quality of her service and products was of the highest standard.
We will be calling on Penny to photograph our family and other celebrations in the future and recommend her highly.

For both our engagement session as well as our wedding, she had printed out some inspiration photos I had sent her and she tried her best to capture as many as she could. os from that session are amazing! We spent several hours in Boston taking some of our favorite pictures. Her attention to lighting and background paid off- they are beautiful. I think the most notable thing was that Penny made us so comfortable while taking the photos, despite neither of us liking to have our picture taken.
On the wedding day, Penny and her second shooter each traveled more than an hour and both arrived at our hotel a little earlier than expected (this was great- extra time!). They went right to work capturing little "detail" shots for us- the rings, my veil and shoes, the groomsmen folding their pocket squares. They even took my dress to our hotel lobby to get some shots of it hanging in better light. Then they took photos of each group getting ready and getting into our limo.
At our wedding venue, they helped us set up a first look. The pictures from it are some of my favorites from the day. Even though we had two cameras pointed at us, we weren't crowded and felt like it was just time for us. We also got our formal bridal portraits done before the ceremony so they could use the little bit of sunlight we would have that day. The pictures were beautiful, even though we were kept indoors because of a cold, rainy day.
Penny has left a great impression on us- she is very responsive to her customers, easy to talk to, works with changes well, and takes great photos- whether they are very formal or very fun. She worked quickly on editing our photos and posting them in our online gallery. After the engagement shoot and the wedding, we received our USB/proofs very quickly. Even after our proofs were sent to us, she's made sure that everything was as expected.

Penny allowed us to do everything we wanted, yet put her unique spin and creative edge into our ideas. The engagement session was made totally our own and Penny did a phenomenal job getting the perfect backdrops and moments of us being us–no posing, no acting. She also allowed us to include our dog Opehelia and came with printed pictures and ideas as to what she wanted to capture with our dog.
Her style of photography is uncanny and something I have not seen in other photographer’s work before. Before hiring Penny I had called many other photographers in the Newport, RI area and no other photographer took the time to get to know me and what I exactly wanted for our engagement photo shoot. Her sample photos were incredible, I was astounded by our photographs and every other album she has done is beautiful.
