Penobscot Bay Estate is a waterfront wedding venue located in Midcoast Maine. This stunning property is ideal for those seeking a private oasis for a long weekend celebration.
Our private residence offers coastal vintage character and our outdoor spaces, with 180 degree waterfront views, overflow with natural beauty. We include on-site accommodation for up to 18 people, with a charming honeymoon cottage at the water's edge, and four guest cabins overlooking it all. Our sailcloth tent accommodates up to 160 guests, with a full hardscape floor, guest bathhouse with 3 powder rooms, on-site parking, a golf cart, and all other amenities needed for an upscale event. We are just 13 miles from Bangor, which offers non-stop flights to New York, DC, Chicago, Philadelphia & Florida.

Bust a move in our gorgeous canopy tent. Don't worry about any heavy rentals or setup; tables, chairs, bistro lighting, bar and dance floor will all be set up on a new full cement tent floor.
Get cozy in our Honeymoon Cottage; your own little oasis on the water. Soak it up in our tub underneath the stars while you watch the moon dance across the water.
Host your closest friends in our 4 new guest cabins. These charming themed cabins accommodate up to 16 guests, and offer breathtaking treetop and waterfront views. Each cabin has its own bathroom, and guests enjoy a shared outdoor kitchen.
On-site staff will guide your guests to the parking lot, drive mobility challenged guests in our golf cart, and answer facility-related questions throughout the weekend.

kes a beautiful backdrop for pictures, ceremony, and reception. The ceremony is right on the water and the reception was in a brand new sailcloth tent with the water in the background. You have the whole property from Thursday to Sunday which makes it feel like a weekend getaway with your friends and family, especially with the cute and cozy cottages on the property that we used to house our bridal party for the weekend. Emerald makes wedding planning easy. She is incredibly responsive, accommodating, recommends vendors in all categories, and does everything possible to make your special day perfect. Emerald is so passionate about the venue and it so clearly shows. Emerald also added a speak easy this year which was the perfect addition that we used for Thursday night with our bridal party / family and used it for our afterparty the night of the wedding. We used the venue not only for the wedding/afterparty, but also for our rehearsal dinner the night before and brunch the day after. I cannot recommend Emerald and the venue enough.

for breathtaking photos on the waterfront with even the occasional bald eagle seen flying overhead (much to the delight of many in our wedding!) Between the honeymoon cottage and the 4 guest cabins just up the hill, we had more than enough space to accommodate both ourselves and our families over the multiple days we stayed on-site. Second and most important, what really makes this place special are Emerald and Kurt. They are incredibly kind, genuine, and thoughtful people! They made our day easy, allowing us to enjoy our special day without worries. Not only did they make it a wonderful process for us, but also for our families and our other vendors, who also noted what a special team we had in Emerald and Kurt. Many of our guests came away from our wedding weekend considering the venue for someone they knew. ond venue we saw, and we didn't see any others after. There was something about Emerald's genuine care for the space and for the couples that she worked with that really stood out to us. She has a deep connection to the property and we watched her build it up into the masterpiece it is today. We got married in May 2024, and it was truly the best day of our lives. The view, the ceremony space, the reception tent, the getting-ready areas -- all of it was so full of charm and so stunningly beautiful. Our wedding party stayed in the four cabins and we stayed in the adorable honeymoon suite. When we arrived for our wedding weekend, we looked at the view and made a vow to return to this place when we could. We were able to use a golf cart to transport decorations (and people) around the property, which was a life safer! In addition to the spectacular setting, Emerald's commitment is unmatched. She communicated with us consistently throughout the 1.5 years we spent planning and answered all of our (many, many) questions promptly. She sent us little gifts, solicited feedback from us about new property changes, and connected us with other amazing vendors. Her husband Kurt was also incredibly kind and so helpful on our wedding day. Bonus: their kids are adorable!! Penobscot Bay Estate is truly a magical place and was the perfect space for us to begin our lives together. Pro tip: use the honeymoon tub! it was so fun!!

to get to, and so close to all major vendors in the Bangor region. Cars can drive everywhere on the property they need to go, making it easy to transport handicap guests and also do all vendor setup and tear down. With water, electricity, cell service in all the spots we needed it... it really is the oasis the pictures depict with the backbone of what a functioning venue needs to be.
One last thing, and perhaps the biggest thing... as a bride, having the balcony overlooking the property available to me as I got ready on the big day was truly magical. I was able to see my loved ones arrive and feel completely showered with love and natural beauty. Everyone who mattered to me was arriving to show their love and support and I had an eagle eye view of the day unfolding... I can't describe how powerful that was.
