About this vendor
Perfect Honeymoons is a honeymoon and milestone travel design company founded in Northern Virginia in 1989, now serving clients nationwide from Charleston, South Carolina, and led by Jim Augerinos, known as Mr. Honeymoon.
I have been part of this business since I was 14, when my mother founded it. Since 1989 we have planned more than 10,000 honeymoons. I have traveled to 73 countries, hold Tahiti specialist certification, and am a member of Signature Travel Network. Travel + Leisure has named me to its A-List of top travel advisors three times: 2016, 2025, and 2026. I wrote the Travel + Leisure article that introduced the multi-moon concept, and my work has appeared in The New York Times and The Wall Street Journal.
Every recommendation comes from firsthand experience: hotels I have stayed in, islands I have walked, partners I know by name. I design honeymoons to French Polynesia, the Maldives, Italy, Greece, Fiji, New Zealand, and Southern Africa. Most couples come back, so about half my work today is anniversaries, babymoons, and multigenerational family trips.

We had a honeymoon planned for February 2026 — or at least, we thought we did. Gretchen and her company charged us a $300 administration fee up front, which she said was required f...
or her to guide us step-by-step through the entire planning process and be available to us during our trip. It was pitched as a fully supported, stress-free experience. All we had to do was show up.
From the beginning, communication was incredibly poor. I gave her the benefit of the doubt at first due to the wildfires in California at the time, even going out of my way to check in on her and her family. I chalked up missed deadlines to the fires and tried to be understanding.
But now, with our wedding quickly approaching, we realized we had NO flight details, NO itinerary, and hadn’t even heard from her in months. I reached out to check in — and she left me on read. This wasn’t the first time either. I would send polite follow-up messages like:
“Hi, I can see that you’ve read my message, so I guess you’re really busy. Can we schedule a time to talk?”
Only then would she respond. This cycle happened more than once.
But this month was the final straw. I reached out to start looking at plane tickets — she left me on read again. I then followed up, expressing clearly that we were no longer comfortable continuing and wanted to know what we needed to do to receive a refund. We also paid over $1k to reserve our stay at one of the quickly booked hotels, so it was important for us to get this information. She never responded. Completely ghosted us. No explanation. No apology. Just silence.
We were never rude to her. We were patient and understanding. And still — she disappeared on us and left us without a honeymoon. This has been heartbreaking, stressful, and completely unprofessional.
After digging deeper, I found that we’re NOT the only ones. There are many hidden negative reviews that share the same experience:
• No communication
• Ghosting clients
• People almost missing flights
• Others stranded out of the country with no help
She may still have good reviews online, but don’t be fooled — the bad ones are there, and they echo exactly what happened to us.
This might be a scam. Use a credit card if you do move forward so you can dispute the charges. But honestly — don’t risk it. We’re going to report this company to every wedding, travel, and consumer site we can find.
If you care about your honeymoon (and your money), look elsewhere.
I have only great things to say about Gretchen! She worked with us to plan the perfect trip. She made all of the arrangements at luxury hotels, helped book our tours, rental car, f...
erry tickets, and airfare. She was responsive and very kind. The trip was amazing, and thanks to her thoughtfulness, all of the hotels gave us wonderful welcomes or free perks for our honeymoon. The whole trip was stress-free and lovely until the last day, when we missed our connecting flight home. Even though it was 5:00 in the morning in California, Gretchen got on the phone and started working to find us a new flight home and hotel for the evening. I can’t express how much we appreciated her support, as it made a stressful situation so much easier. Truly exceptional customer service. We would definitely book with her again, and would recommend her to anyone interested in truly special trip.
Jim was incredible, he was patient, informative, and was always looking out for our best interests. Our honeymoon was amazing and we couldn't have pulled it off without all of his ...
help. He was pivotal in pulling off the secret beach dinner that I had planned and booking all of our excursions and transportation. The only thing that I would urge customers to do is to look into the rewards programs of the resorts that you are staying at and see if they have any special promotions. We missed out on a pretty big promo while doing all of the wedding planning and missed out on an extra free three days at the Intercontinental Thassalo Spa in Bora Bora (they had a promo running with using their credit card and earning points, and the Thassalo Spa earned a ton of points). All in all I would recommend using Perfect Honeymoons 100% and would love to work with them again in the future.

edding. I have recommended this amazing to so many friends already, and will continue to in the future!
We were very disappointed when Gretchen took 3. 5 weeks after our initial phone call (when we provided our credit card authorization) to provide an itinerary that she had promised ...
to send within a week. The itinerary included no dates or flights, and we emailed twice with no response and called before receiving it. She claimed to have emailed us within a week (wouldn’t you have forwarded the email to demonstrate the time stamp, if it were your client? ) and bizarrely claimed that flights had been included in the email. To top it all off, she texted us at 10:00 pm to inform us she sent the (very short) email. We were surprised to have such serious honesty and integrity issues after such a nice initial phone call. We’ll now be booking our honeymoon quite late at a time when flights are much more expensive.
We had an absolutely fantastic honeymoon, thanks to Jim and Perfect Honeymoons!
Our initial consultation with Jim helped narrow down the destinations- he gave us some very helpful...
recommendations not only in terms of where to stay/order of cities, but also things like should we rent a car, how many activities should we plan, etc. We would have been clueless without him and he also had some "off-the beaten path" ideas and suggestions to make our experience totally unique. We were able to use an app to see our plans, hotel stays, and flights- super easy!
The hotels were exactly what we were looking for and the level of service and attention (being a client of Jim's) made each stay incredibly special.
Jim's planning and attention to detail also ensured our travel between cities was smooth and logistics were all taken care of. This was huge given we didn't speak the language, hadn't travelled to the cities before and were going to 4 different destinations.
Jim and Perfect Honeymoons have our highest recommendation, and we hope to work with him again!
Super easy to work with, not pushy, very patient. Planned the perfect honeymoon for us in Bali - we loved it and can't wait to go back!
Jim is the best travel agent ever! We wanted to make sure we had an expert giving us advice and booking our trip so we wouldn't miss out on a thing. Jim is definitely that person! ...
He let us know what to expect before we left, checked in with us once we arrived and sent us some amazing perks like a bottle of champagne and a romantic breakfast for two! We felt very taken care of thanks to Jim! We highly recommend him and definitely plan on using his services again.

ils, because it was all taken care of. Each island (we went to 3) was so different, and Jim helped with recommendations for excursions and restaurants. The helicopter and snorkel/sail were among our favorites. All the special treats and extra amenities along the way made us feel so loved and taken care of. Our honeymoon was a dream come true!

ne our itenerary. We both work more than full-time hours so the extra help planning the honeymoon was definitely worth hiring this company. Our honeymoon was exactly what we envisioned!
Jim was amazing! He was very straight forward and gave us the advice we needed to decide the perfect honeymoon for us - the Hawaiian Islands. Jim answered all of our questions and ...
communicated clearly with us. He was very knowledgeable about our destination and gave us some great recommendations on places to eat and activities to do. Because of Jim, we were able to focus on the two of us and our special day. Perfect Honeymoons took away a lot of unneeded stress during the wedding planning process, you will not regret their services! Thank you, Jim!

we were looking for in a honeymoon but were having trouble trying to decide. Through a Facetime call with Jim and his expertise and advice we landed on Croatia. From that moment on all we had to do was countdown to April and figure out what we were going to pack.
We had discussed that we wanted a blend of activities and downtime. We wanted to be able to be tourists but also experience the local lifestyle. From our conversation Jim put together such an incredible itinerary that we actually didn't change a thing! After a year of planning every detail of our wedding weekend we didn't want to have to plan anything for the honeymoon.
Perfect Honeymoons took care of everything! We were treated like first class travelers with private luxury transportation, stunning and unique hotels, private tours, and reservations at the best local restaurants. All we had to do was enjoy ourselves as we explored Croatia on our amazing adventure to begin our married lives.
I would highly recommend Perfect Honeymoons to anyone!

ll of the things (transportation, accommodation, sights, etc.). Insert Jim who with, basically, one conversation and a questionnaire planned our entire trip. I had plenty of input but I really felt comfortable with the direction Jim seemed to be taking us. And let me tell you, from idea to execution, he set us up! We, truly, had a trip that far exceeded anything we could have planned on our own. Thanks Jim! We are singing your praises.

he trip, Jim was professional, courteous, kind, and funny. He planned the perfect honeymoon for us. He really listened during our interview and planned the trip to suit our needs and wants PERFECTLY. Our trip to Greece and Italy couldn’t have been as perfect as it was if it weren’t for the meticulous planning from Jim. We barely even had to think of logistics, everything was perfectly laid out for us in a smartphone app. When our flight was delayed, Jim swiftly changed things around to make sure when we arrived our driver would be there. He was extremely responsive during the trip as we did have a few questions. We’ll be recommending Jim to all of our friends and family for ANY trip their planning. Jim’s services are worth every penny (and it is extremely reasonable). Thank you again for everything Jim!
Until the next trip!

Jim is awesome. The hour-long call prior to his development of the itinerary was clearly time well spent, because he knew exactly the kinds of activities and hotels we would enjoy...
. I'm not afraid to admit we had some lofty expectations and he exceeded every single one. All the little details were perfect, and he must have good relationships with the hotels, because the service we received was top notch. He was in touch on the one day that weather caused a snag in our travels, and found some alternatives for us(the time difference was 12 hours, so this was no small thing).
Perfect Honeymoons is an outstanding service and we couldn't recommend it more.

ever used a travel agent before, but for our honeymoon we wanted some help. Gretchen was our agent and she was beyond amazing. Her understanding and passion and her love for travel is something unique and special and really made the honeymoon planning process so interesting and fun. We started working with Gretchen when we were not 100% sure where we wanted to go, and Gretchen was incredibly patient and lead us to our perfect honeymoon. Gretchen started off by helping understand what previous travel experiences we had, what we liked/didn’t like to try to help us narrow down some choices. Once we narrowed down some choices, she shared detailed explanations of what our honeymoon would look like and feel like in those specific places and we assessed what the pros and cons would be (without any pressure whatsoever from Gretchen). We finally we picked Tahiti!
Gretchen helped keep us on track throughout the whole planning process and was even super knowledgeable with helping us figure out how we could apply our points throughout the honeymoon (flights, hotels, etc.). Our entire honeymoon was an absolute dream come true and stress free from start to finish. Gretchen understood our expectations and created a memorable, unique, and relaxing honeymoon. We were treated like first class guests and unexpectedly upgraded at places because we worked with Gretchen. Planning a wedding is a huge task....don't also plan your honeymoon. Have Gretchen do it, she is truly the best and we are already working with Gretchen a month back from our honeymoon on our next trip!

The process was easy and removed all worry of our trip - including last minute changes. Jim is top-notch and planned the best itinerary for a newlywed couple just two days post-wedding. We will absolutely be planning future trips with Perfect Honeymoons! Thanks so much for everything - you have given us incredible memories to start our lives together.

ful to work with. I'd never used a travel agency before and found the whole process to be of ease, which speaks volumes to Perfect Honeymoons, their staff, and knowledge of tourism. My husband and I had several locations in mind and Steve graciously looked up and provided details on each location. He was incredibly patient with us as we switched destinations due to the Zika virus and once we selected our final destination Steve was able to make some wonderful recommendations. He also put us in touch with Gretchen, who'd recently returned from visiting Greece. Both Steve and Gretchen were available to us before and during our honeymoon which was a huge plus. Knowing we had communication with our travel agents made the trip even more enjoyable as we could ask questions, voice concerns, ask for recommendations and more.
I can say we will absolutely be using Perfect Honeymoons again and again!

We had a mobile app that listed our itinerary and notified us of early check in along with activities and dinner recommendations. Our rooms were covered in honeymoon bliss and made the already beautiful hotels even more special. My husband and I had the most memorable honeymoon thanks to Jim :) We will be back!

In short: Jim crushed it.
Jim exceeded our already-high-expectations across the board: timely updates, perfectly selected hotels, great advice/recommendations, and with minimal effort on my part.
In addition, Jim booked transfers/activities that were flawless. We covered two (non-English speaking) countries via plane, train, boat, and automobile, and it was seamless. That alone was worth hiring Jim.
Jim is most valuable in (i) selecting the right location/accommodations, (ii) bringing a ton of local knowledge to the table and (iii) taking the stress out of the entire process.
My advice for working with Jim: Tell him exactly what you think you want/what you both enjoy (be as specific as possible), listen to his advice (even when it is contrary to your initial opinion), and let him execute the vision.
Best review I can possibly give: My wife said it was "the perfect trip."

Unless you are a seasoned traveler and know exactly where you want to go, I suggest letting these professionals blow you away.
Thank you Gretchen, and the team at Perfect Honeymoons!
Gretchen was amazing! Planning a wedding is overwhelming, stressful, time consuming ... the list goes on. The best decision my husband and I made through the entire experience was ...
getting help in planning our honeymoon!
Gretchen worked with us for quite some time planning our perfect honeymoon in Maui. She was an expert in the area and had all the answers to the million of our questions. We stayed at the Fairmont which was perfect for a 'no kiddo' relaxing time. She planned the flights, car rental, some of our dinner reservations, and three excursions.
I did NOTHING! I said, "yes" or "no" and then magically I had everything mailed to me in a nice package and we were on our way. If something came up, which it never did, I had a number to call to get assistance. If I was freaking out, as I typically do, about something that was out of my power like weather, I could call Gretchen and she would calm me down.
As well, the best part of the service in my opinion, in the case something did come up and we had to move our honeymoon location or date, Perfect Honeymoon would transfer our money and it would all be taken care of. That sort of worry is not something you need when you're already planning a wedding. Perfect Honeymoon did all the work for us.
Love the service, love Gretchen and LOVED my honeymoon. Weeks later I'm still dreaming about drinks poolside.

Even when we needed to make last minute changes when we were on our honeymoon due to me getting sick, Gretchen came to the rescue! She takes the time to get to know the couple and gets to know what it is exactly that you want out of your vacation from A to Z and then delivers! If you want an unforgettable time, planned by someone who knows the ins and outs of everything, you have to go to Gretchen! We will definitely be using her again for our trips in the future. Thanks Gretchen!!

me the highlight was the ATV tour in Moorea which Jim recommended and signed us up for. Definitely the highlight of my trip and the guide was outstanding. My wife was instantly in love with our over water bungalow in Bora Bora. I can't say enough about Jim's expertise and everyone of his recommendations were spot on. Both my wife and I were so busy leading up to the wedding the last thing we were going to be able to do was plan such an amazing trip, Perfect Honeymoons made everything as simple as possible.

red everything to our taste. All the way down to recommending specific restaurants (split by casual, formal, etc). We were planning a fairly significant move at the same time as planning our wedding wedding so we gave Jim a lot of freedom to book what he saw fit for us within our budget constraints and he did an absolutely amazing job! We cannot recommend Jim enough!
Jim and the Perfect Honeymoon team are amazing. We went into our first meeting with Jim with a rough idea of what we wanted in mind. With just a few details about our preferences...
he was able to come up with a plan that was exactly what we were looking for. While Jim did provide his top recommendations, he provided us with a few similar destinations and multiple hotel options so we could pick something that worked into our budget and style.
The fact that Jim and his team have actually been to almost every place imaginable really sets them apart. They can tell you what the sand on each beach is like, how each hotel room is different, and what exactly at each restaurant is the best dish. It is also helpful that Jim knows the owners/managers of all of these places! For the first leg of our trip in Antigua, Jim was able to talk to the owner (a friend of his) to get us a free upgrade to an amazing hillside villa on a last minute request. The staff knew we were with Jim and took note. This continued with our trip to St Bart’s at the Eden Rock, where we were personally greeted by the manager of the resort who had been with Jim recently. He ensured the entire staff knew who we were and get the best treatment possible. Also, we were greeted in our room with a bottle of champagne on the Perfect Honeymoon’s team.
However, just planning a great trip wasn't what the Perfect Honeymoons team was all about. Through each step of the way Jim was able to provide us with fantastic advice and suggestions. He was also extremely helpful when we had any issues, and was available day or night to help us. We couldn’t say enough great things about the Perfect Honeymoon’s team. They were recommended to us by several friends who have had identical experiences, and we plan to use Jim and the team for our next adventure.

the perfect combination of off-the-beaten-path meets luxury. It was exactly what we wanted. He was also incredibly patient when we changed the budget and planned an entirely new itinerary for us.
