Alex did the flowers for my wedding in November and they were absolutely stunning! I loved them and so did all my wedding guests. They kept saying they were the nicest wedding flowers they have ever seen. Alex is incredibly talented and also great to work with. Couldn't have been happier with how my wedding floral arrangements turned out!

Our coordinator Stacey connected us with Petals & Roots after many conversations between my wife and I about flowers. We couldn't be happier with the results that Alex and her team delivered. We do not have much knowledge about flowers, and we needed a lot of guidance. Alex was very helpful throughout this whole process and really made great suggestions. Alex and her team made our vision come to life. We had a ceremony arch built and our guests were absolutely in awe!

Alex & Team! Wow! Just WOW! From the first interaction through a few days before our big day, we knew we were in the hands of brilliant, sensitive, caring visionaries. Coming from people who don't know a lot about flowers (us)... she helped guide us through our vision to make it come to life. And, made sure to get intimate knowledge of our venue to best offset our vision of old world meets modern. On top of that, she is a blast to talk to on the phone, and everyone who helped on the day of was attentive, kind, and responsive to any last minute changes (they even helped me tie my 'something old' onto my bouquet!). We couldn't recommend them more highly if you want that personal touch on your wedding day!

When my husband and I eloped in 2020, I walked into the old Petals & Roots space and worked with Alex last minute to create a beautiful bouquet and boutonniere. Thankfully, my husband and I were able to finally celebrate our marriage the way we wanted in 20222. When we began thinking about flowers, I immediately knew I wanted to work with Alex again. The entire team at Petals & Roots delivered a look for our wedding that PERFECTLY captured the vision we had for our wedding. Where do I even start with Petals & Roots? Alex is the sweetest, kindest, most talented florist ever. We were so lucky to work with her twice, first for our small backyard COVID wedding and then for our big event this past April. In doing so, we got to see all of her artistry and how she works based on the scale of the event. Everything she did for us - bouquets, boutonnières, bud vases, big centerpieces, two SPECTACULAR chuppahs - which were incredibly unique and individual and extremely gorgeous - was meticulously thought out and executed. I love flowers, but we had to set ourselves a budget, and she was so easy to work with and stay on budget. Furthermore, she is just brilliant. I gave her my color palette, we talked about some flowers we liked and don't like, and then she did her thing. There was no confusion, no concern, no back and forth - she is just extremely talented. She also seemed genuinely excited for us! I'm getting a little teared up writing this review because we felt so supported knowing that Alex would be taking care of making our wedding so beautiful. I literally gasped when I saw the chuppah at our April wedding, I could not have imagined a more beautiful way to have a spring wedding - with cherry blossoms. You would be remiss not to use Petals & Roots for your wedding or next event. She is a genius and deserves all the recognition. Thank you times a million!

We can't express how happy we were with our stunning flowers from Petals & Roots—everything from the bouquets to the arrangements placed around the venue. Alex and her team elevated the beauty of the entire day, and my daughter and I were blown away with all of the gorgeous arrangements - the bouquet, centerpieces, wedding arch - every single arrangement was truly a work of art; so lush, varied, and the perfect combination of flowers. I am not exaggerating when I say that everyone I spoke with that weekend raved about the flowers and said how perfect they were. Alex and her team at Petals & Roots were such a pleasure to work with during my wedding planning process. Their shop is beautiful and they are very friendly and accomodating. I had a small budget for the wedding and they were very helpful in making sure I was able to get everything I needed. My bridal bouquet was so beautiful and even better than I could have imagined. Alex and her team were wonderful to work with for our wedding! After a glowing review from our venue coordinator, I had no doubt in my mind Petals & Roots was the florist I wanted to work with. We had two consultations before the wedding and they were both lovely. I wished I could go overboard with flowers, but spending a significant portion of our budget in that department was not in our cards, and Alex was understanding, sensitive, and came up with a creative plan to help us get the most out of our flowers. She was super thorough, creating several quotes for us to review and requesting inspiration photos to make sure she knew what I liked. She is super cool and understood my aesthetic immediately – moody and boho, but still sort of romantic with lots of deep colors. My bridal bouquet was so gorgeous I wish I could crawl inside it and live there forever. My dad built a chuppah from branches in my parents' yard in Ohio, and brought all the pieces and assembled it on site. It was so meaningful to me to have this piece, and Alex and her team worked with my dad to adorn it with greenery and make the most beautiful "home" I could possibly imagine. They were flexible, kind, creative, and excited throughout the whole process and made us such lovely arrangements that created the perfect atmosphere for our special day. A million thank yous!

We loved Alex and the team at Petals & Roots! First off, Alex is truly lovely to work with. We asked her for a million quotes and she was super patient, professional, and easy to work with from the very beginning. For the best part, the florals were at our wedding were PERFECT. P & R was spot on with our style and the florals they put together were stunning—from delicate flowers around our chuppah to gorgeous big bouquets at the bar. We'll definitely work with them if we ever need a florist again!

I chose Petals and Roots for my wedding because they do wonderful floral designs. It was a pleasure working with such a warm and friendly staff. I had a certain vision for the wedding flowers - I wanted one specific flower to be dominant among all bouquets with a nice mix of other autumn flowers. I don't feel like they completely made that vision come to light but I was still satisfied with the finished product. There were parts that I loved but was a little sad that the flower that I wanted highlighted was just an accent flower. I wish I had seen a sample arrangement before receiving the final bouquets. The florist also mentioned that I would be measured for the cascading bridal bouquet, but she never followed up. In the end, the bouquet was very large and overwhelming. I feel like it covered a lot of my dress. The boutonnieres were my favorite. I loved the burgundy red flowers in contrast to the gray suits. Overall, I was pleased and I am sure all the flowers came out beautiful in the photographs.

We have lived in Astoria for many years and walked past Petals and Roots almost daily since they opened on 31st street. Going into the wedding planning, flowers were the 1 thing I kept telling people I cared least about. But when we started working with Alex and her team, all that changed. They got me excited to create a vision for the day and helped me verbalize what I was looking for. For a period of time before the wedding, I was having these really odd dreams (nightmares) where I would walk into the venue and all the floral arrangements would be large puffy balls of baby pink and baby blue. It was so odd. But when we met with Alex, the silly dreams went away! My brain somehow knew we were in good hands. AND WE WERE. Somehow, they took the words that came out of my mouth and made them real. When I saw my bouquet in the morning, I actually had no words - talkative me was speechless. When we saw the dining room before dinner, I nearly tripped over myself in excitement. I COULD NOT believe how perfect it all looked and felt. Petals and Roots was an ABSOLUTE joy to work with, from the get go. I stumbled across them one night in an Instagram search for a NYC florist. Alex, her shop, her team and their work are EXACTLY what they appear on social media. They are so fun, sweet, creative, accommodating, passionate, and welcoming. They have a very thorough inquiry form that helped me develop and consider my theme and budget. They also have a fantastic flare for florals and we’re able to blow me away. The amount of flowers, and arrangements we had for the amount we paid was beyond my expectations!! They delivered above and beyond my expectations. I even provided some of my own vases and the were in tip top shop through everything. Alex has lots of fun ideas to share and is excellent at picking up the wedding vibe your putting down. I would recommend Petals and Roots to anyone, and I hope to find myself one day returning to the shop to pick up a little treat, or just to visit. We booked them very early on in the wedding planning process so by the time I was ready to pick up my order I had honestly forgotten what we had discussed and just trusted that they would be able to execute our vision. I was blown away on the day our wedding, everything looked beautiful and fresh and was more than I could have asked for. My bridal bouquet was STUNNING and the garland for our long farmhouse tables were perfectly done. They were also such a pleasure to work with. Working with Petals & Roots for my wedding was such a great decision. Alex and team made everything seamless. I knew pretty much what I wanted as far as florals went, and during my final meeting with Alex and team they helped me pick exactly what I had envisioned. They were extremely conscious of budget and gave great recommendations of what I could cut out so that I could add additional details elsewhere. The team set up the centerpieces with flowers and other centerpieces with candles exactly how I wanted them and I didn't have to worry about a thing. My husband and I had to unexpectedly move on from our original decor vendor less than 2 months before our wedding, and it ended up being a huge blessing in disguise because it brought us to Petals & Roots. Getting married in an iconic building like Carnegie Hall, we wanted the decor & floral to enhance, not overpower the venue; Alex and her team understood that and worked tirelessly with our planner to make our dreams a reality. All the floral decorations for our ceremony, cocktail, and reception spaces were even better than we could have imagined. They were fresh & lush, meticulously made, reflected our modern style, and perfectly complimented each space. Throughout the entire process, it never felt like a client-to-vendor relationship. Instead, we knew that Alex and her entire team cared deeply about making our big day special, and went above and beyond to make it a truly memorable evening. Alex and team took our fairly broad vision and brought it together with the perfect color combinations while including any specific flowers we requested. Alex and team are absolutely amazing. This is the only part of the entire wedding I didn't stress about - Alex made us a full set of table settings, a flower crown, garlands, and more. Every request and detail was met including my husband's panache for olive and rosemary greens intertwined with wildflowers.

petals & roots exceeded our expectations in every way. for starters, they are fairy priced and seem to want to give you as much as they can at your price point. even more, alex and julia are just a total pleasure to work with. they listened to us, figured out our vision (even when we couldn't articulate it) and delivered the most beautiful and unique combination of florals and greenery on our wedding day. our guests couldn't wait to steal our centerpieces at the end of the night (: save yourself the effort, and look no further -- you will not be disappointed.

Alex, Julia and Ali are such a powerhouse team - they were incredible throughout our entire planning process, bringing energy, personality, and INSANE talent to the table. We didn't have a super clear vision for our flowers, and gave P&R creative freedom to execute one for us. This paid off ten-fold, because their taste is impeccable. They know how to translate your random Pinterest board and off-hand commentary into an absolutely stunning result. P&R nails every last detail. From the flair in the groom's boutonnière, to lush greenery wrapped around our chuppah, to the beautiful blooms in every bouquet and centerpiece, everything was perfect. Together, these details transformed our venue from a museum into a magical space for celebration. Logistical things that matter (!): - P&R will work with your budget. They were never pushy about adding on more, and totally accommodated us. - P&R handles delivery and is always on time - from dropping boutonnières and bouquets, to setting up at our venue, they were organized and showed up when you needed them. - P&R also has items you might need! They have beautiful vases, a chuppah (which was stunning) and other stuff you don't need to buy. If you're looking for a florist, look no further. These ladies are the best.

Working with Alex and Julia to order and create the bouquets and bouts we needed for our wedding was a breeze from the beginning. We weren’t too picky with color or design but what they put together was just beautiful and so fresh.

Petals & Roots makes insanely beautiful flower arrangements. I never thought I would be walking down the aisle with my dream bouquet. I initially contacted Alex & Julie last October with my champagne taste and Four Loko budget. I had a very unrealistically low budget on flowers and almost decided to not have them at all. Alex & Julie patiently answered all of my questions and not once turned me away. They said they could always do my bouquet if we decide to move away from having flowers at all as centerpieces/decor. When I finally decided on flowers, I only ordered my bouquet, boutonnieres and corsages for our wedding party. I told Alex that I wanted the simplest white roses and eucalyptus. It was simple and I knew I’d like them. Come wedding day, the flowers arrived early and I was so surprised to see this beautiful arrangement. Alex & Julie remembered the flowers from my wishlist from months before when I first inquired about their prices and services. Absolutely loved my experience with them! I didn't have super strong ideas or concepts and just gave them so general colors and flowers as a guideline and they took it from there! Everything was perfect and so beautiful. Their staff is easy and creative and so, so polite. Love them!

We coordinated with Petals and Roots to arrange our bouquet, boutonniere, and arch for our reception. I had some ideas about what I wanted them to look like but it was pretty general. During our consultation, Julia was able to pick my brain and help me figure out what I would love the most. On the day of, the arrangements did not disappoint! Working with Alex and Julia at Petals & Roots was such a dream! Flowers were incredibly important to both my husband and me, and working with Alex & Julia we were able to really lay out our vision, get creative direction (which we desperately needed) and feedback about what was in season, in budget etc. Alex came up with creative ways to make our budget stretch the furthest. We had petals & roots do our chuppah, bridal and MOH bouquets, boutonnieres, centerpieces (with candlesticks), and more! Alex was there day-of to hand deliver my bridal bouquet to the hotel, with her team on-site at the venue building the chuppah, discreetly de-assembling the chuppah post-ceremony and then repurposing those florals for our sweetheart table. Alex also stepped in while I was waiting for our “first look” and helped keep me cool while I was melting on an uncharacteristically warm October day (they do it all!)!! We live in Astoria and it was so great to work with a local business, even though our wedding was outside of NYC. If you’re looking for creative, beautiful florals look no further!!

Alex and Julia are some of my favorite humans ever! Working with Petal & Roots was one of my favorite vendors to deal with during the whole wedding experience. Petals & Roots did an incredible job on the flowers for my wedding. I ordered a bouquet for myself and one for my maid of honor and they were both beautiful. Even though I just gave them a few pictures and some vague notes on what colors I liked, they could tell exactly what I wanted and created the perfect bouquets.

There isn't nearly enough space on here to adequately compliment Alex and her spectacular crew at Petals & Roots in Astoria! We had a not great experience with another florist in Manhattan who wouldn't work within our budget, and we went to Alex only 3 months before showtime, and we were fortunate enough to become their client. Alex worked within our budget to create some GORGEOUS floral arrangements, including a floral archway that all of our guests are still talking about. The colors were exactly what we were picturing, the personals were delivered to our apartment on time, and everything was set up at the venue beautifully before we arrived. I don’t know where to start … I am still blown away! When I first saw the work that the Petals & Roots team did at my venue, I was in tears and just, well, blown away, I could not believe this was my wedding! They put mine & my husband’s vision to life and then some. Alex, Julia and the team are unbelievably talented (they have a background in Art) and put 1,000% effort into everything they do. Alex and Julia have an infectious energy, they care about their work and their clients, and their knowledge of the “floral world”, as well as the wedding & event planning industry, is astounding. Their ability to make the most of our budget, their resourcefulness and strong work ethic were also especially appreciated. As someone with a “Type A” personality, I eventually realized it would be beneficial to give total creative control to the team and I am SO HAPPY I DID! They took our inspiration pics, venue info & the bridesmaid dress swatch, paired with input from us on the budget and the “must-haves”, and they gave us exactly what we wanted AND exactly what we didn’t know we wanted! When planning your wedding or event, you want to have a vendor you can trust, a vendor that alleviates any stress from the planning process, and a vendor that understands both your vision & budget. Take my word: You will not be disappointed with Petals & Roots. The moment I met Alex, I knew immediately I wanted her and the team to be part of my wedding. In fact, I was introduced to Petals & Roots before I chose my venue & date. I planned my wedding with a shorter-than-typical timeline, and to be honest, I only felt that was a possibility because I trusted the Petals & Roots team and was confident they would help not only help make this day extraordinary, but also add a positive experience to the planning process. My husband & I chose a partially-raw venue, whereby all decorations had to be supplied by my us. At my consultation, I shared my vision and some inspiration pictures and explained I don’t really know how to go about getting this … Alex & Julia just kept sharing their input and insight and knew exactly what I was going for. Throughout the planning process, they also shared additional insight into the wedding planning, such as best practices for working with vendors and helpful advice. They also worked with the venue aesthetic & structure, as opposed to working against it. I recall sharing a couple ideas, and they’d be like “hmm.. I think [this different idea] would actually be more fitting and ultimately help you achieve what you’re going for” Among the many vignettes and various arrangements at my wedding, they created an installation above the dance-floor that was exactly how I was hoping for, a photo-backdrop-wall that was absolutely perfect, and bouquets that fit the setting of my ceremony. The bouquets differed from my venue arrangements because the Church setting was drastically different from the venue; the colors I wanted at the venue wouldn’t have fit so well at the Church. I didn’t really know what to decide on, so I let Alex & Julia make a decision based on the bridesmaid dresss swatch; the bouquets were perfect and my pictures look so beautiful! Absolutely amazing. Booked with Alex 2 weeks before our wedding (2ndary to pre wedding florist drama) and boy did she and her team deliver! Got her name through my wedding planner and I’m so grateful for her. Absolutely gorgeous flowers. She was really our lifesaver especially after all the other florist drama. So easy to talk to. She understands your vision and your wants. Never makes you feel like a floral idiot or that what you want will not work (unfortunately had experienced prior). She is nothing short of Professional, light & airy, and on point! Her and her team know their stuff! Even made my ringbearer puppy a beautiful floral collar crown in our floral scheme. You will not be disappointed! So happy we met her!

Alex and Julia at Petals and Roots were amazing to work with. First of all, the shop is so cute and both ladies make it feel like you’ve known them forever whenever you speak. No rushing and they were so attentive to our budget, cutting costs when possible and being honest with us. They encouraged us to send them pictures and inspiration and they would keep a file to reference when prepping. The bouquets came out beautiful and exactly how I imagined. Alex and team delivered all the flowers to the house on time and made the church and venue look gorgeous. Trusted them from the moment we met and was so happy and grateful to have found them as our florist. Highly recommend!

Alex and Julia were wonderful to work with. Their pride and thoughtfulness in choosing the right flowers and making the most of what is naturally available each season come through in every conversation with them. They set up our venue beautifully with collections of small vases with a lot of texture and color in each floral arrangement.
