It was an absolute pleasure working with Peter and his team for our engagement and wedding photos. We researched many wedding photographers before stumbling upon Peter’s portfolio and we are so happy with our decision to book with him. We loved that Peter’s photos are timeless, full of natural light, and vivid colors. Peter is incredibly thoughtful, respectful, and professional. He took the time to meet with us prior to booking to discuss what we were looking for in a wedding photographer and was upfront about pricing, needing a second-shooter, and day-of schedule. Peter made our engagement photo session so much fun and found so many creative angles and backdrops for our photos. His photos are the perfect mix of candid and posed, and they all capture every moment beautifully. He was understanding of our decision to reschedule our wedding due to Covid, and actively worked with us in order to find a new date that worked for both of us. Throughout the entire process, Peter checked in frequently, was able to answer all of our questions, and gave honest suggestions. We had a traditional, Polish wedding and Peter understood the importance of capturing all of the details that were so important for us to remember. We received our photos about a month after our wedding and could not be happier with all of them! We booked Peter’s company, Red+Olive, for videography and loved working with them as well. Peter takes great pride in his work and we are so thrilled that he gave us such beautiful wedding photos that we will treasure for a lifetime!

He did an incredibly excellent job of capturing our engagement photos, and far more importantly, he was an absolute delight to be around. He understood me and my wife's vibe/dynamic immediately and slotted himself in as though he had always been our friend. Our pictures felt more like a group walk around the city than a staged, formal photoshoot. At the end of it, my wife and I agreed that Peter could've taken 0 photos and we still would've had a lovely evening with a new friend. Of course, he didn't do that - his pictures were stunning, and his online gallery was easy to navigate to get the pictures we needed!

Being a photographer myself, I made sure that I was in charge of finding our wedding photographer. Peter was one of a first photographers I found online and immediately, I loved his work. He was incredibly present and engaging in our initial meeting and we left it knowing that we wanted to work with him. It was clearly the right choice. Not only did his work exceed our hopes and expectations, we have remained great friends through the years. As a side note, his wife is an incredibly gifted wedding planner and makeup artist as well! Peter's work is absolutely incredible!!! The wedding photos and film he produced for us aren't just beautiful -- they're truly pieces of art. Peter has a unique ability to really capture special, authentic moments in the most breathtaking way. He cares deeply about his clients and pours his heart and soul into his work. Peter Gubernat and his team were the best vendor choice we made for our entire wedding. Before COVID hit, Peter spent more time than any other vendor getting to know us, talking through our best options for the day of, and coaching us through the support he would be providing us on the day. After COVID hit, my husband and I decided to cancel everything and cut ties with our vendors. Peter stood out as being understanding and positive throughout that process and offered his time, should we want it, for any event we ended up hosting on that day or any other, even if it was different than planned. As it turned out, we did end up having a small ceremony with immediate family only in masks. The food came from a grocery store, I made my own cake, it was in a backyard not intended to be a wedding venue, and it was thrown together in a week. Not only did Peter come to take pictures for us in less than a week's notice, he added video, too. And you wouldn't've known from those pictures and video that it wasn't the day we had been planning for 18 months. We are so happy he captured those moments for us. More than that, he's one of the most positive people to work with. Throughout the process he was up front and honest about what was possible and what was not, yet still remained a constant, uplifting person to work with, making even the most stressed out bride and groom light up for their photos. We are so grateful for his service and would recommend him to any one for any event.

Pictures were a top priority for us - as I use pictures to relive moments. My husband always chuckles at how many pictures I have on my phone - well over 20K and that I can always seem to bring up just the moment I am looking for. We researched and sought advice from friends on selecting a photographer. Peter came as a recommendation from one of my work colleagues. Peter did our sunrise engagement session and we couldn't be happier with the photos! Peter was professional from the moment I reached out to book him for our engagement session. He made my fiance and I feel comfortable in front of the camera and all our pictures fit our personality and are breath taking. The photos we have from the 5am sunrise are stunning. We were so pleased with our engagement photos, it was a no brainer to use Peter again for our wedding photos! He has an eye for creating some really breath taking compositions using the natural environments around him and made us feel very comfortable in the process. Hands down, Peter and his team was the best option we picked for our wedding photos and video. We read his reviews and recommendations that rated him a top professional in the Chicago area. Our first meeting at Soho House Chicago was very relaxed and very nonintimidating. We just looked over Peter’s work while sipping on some cocktails. After the meeting was over we felt like we were hanging out with an old friend and decided Peter was who we were going to choose. Our second meeting was for our engagement photos which were taken on the Chicago lakefront and then after a change of outfits we moved onto more photos on the bridges over the river and along the river. The photos came back very quickly and we were extremely happy and now excited for the outcome of our wedding photos. We got married at the London House Chicago on 10/13/18. Peter had a team 3 people with him. We spent about 2 hours walking the locations near the venue and also capturing epic pictures in the cupola overlooking the entire city. When the ceremony started, Peter and his team stayed with us all the way until midnight. It was fun for our guests to have access to all of the photos captured on the GIF booth through a link sent via text message to every guest. We were referred to Peter by a number of extremely enthusiastic brides who chose him for their engagement photos, and knew he would be a great fit to tell our story not only from the unique images on his website (which I spent hours looking at before signing with him), but from the way he made us feel comfortable almost instantly. He took time to get to know us before our engagement photos and made sure to capture us in ways that involved less posing/forced PDA, and more just having fun and being "us." We kept in touch with Peter over the course of the year and a half between our engagement session and wedding - he asked for life updates on our move to another city, and taco place recommendations. Since I opted not to hire a planner, it was amazing to have someone that we could count on in the midst of the uncertainty of planning other parts of the day. Then it came time for Peter and his second photographer, Blue (amazing!), to get to know our rather rambunctious wedding party as we got ready and shot pre-ceremony photos in several locations around Chicago on our Big Day. They exercised patience and professionalism as they kept me calm and the rest of us organized and on time. They also maintained a great spirit of fun and produced artistic, full of life images that continue to help us relive the best day of our lives. Peter is fantastic! Picking out a wedding photographer is not an easy task, and we wanted to make sure that we chose someone who would capture all of the day's wonderful moments. Hands down Peter told our story in the best way possible, and we would choose him again for our special day. Let me begin with how decided to hire Peter. As someone who has worked in the wedding industry for many years, I had basically every vendor selected long before I got engaged. I know who's the best, I know who we can afford, and I know who to avoid. Photo was really the only category I hadn't made a decision on, nor had a concept of what was really out there. So I took to facebook and asked the public for recommendations. We got a whopping 39 recommended photographers, so one day my fiancé and I just sat on the couch for HOURS, scouring EVERY SINGLE PORTFOLIO of each of these, building out spreadsheets for prices, how many photographers, how many hours, how long the turnaround time was, etc and narrowed it down to 7 finalists, but we both knew Peter was by far and away the best quality and the best value. We reached out to those 7 finalists and Peter was the ONLY ONE to not only answer all our questions but QUICKLY get us on a call to talk through our big day. We set up a time to meet for drinks by our place and we fell in love. Peter was relatable, real, true to his craft, and just so clearly obsessed with his work and what he can do for brides and grooms. Having someone passionate behind the camera will be the difference between hiring a photographer and telling your story. He sees moments and captures them. He helps you relax and feel comfortable that your day will be told through pictures for years to come. He makes you feel confident and not a single picture is unflattering. Peter nailed our engagement session, he nailed our wedding day, and I can't wait to hire him when we have little babies to nail that too. We ended up with over 1,000 pictures, all within a month of our wedding day, all absolute PERFECTION. Every single penny you spend on Peter will be well worth it. Look no further.

We had a great time with Peter during our Engagement photoshoot. This was our first time taking professional photos and Peter made the process comfortable and easy. We shot at North Ave and the Riverwalk and had plenty of time to do both with an outfit change. We were blown away by the overall quality and felt that he captured us perfectly. We had Peter Gubernat and Jason as our photographers for 12 hours on our wedding day in downtown Chicago. We actually originally had one of Peter's other photographers for our day, but there was a miscommunication and Peter took over when the other guy wasn't available. Both Peter and Jason were so much fun to work with, and we are so happy with the work they did throughout the day. We can't wait to see our photos!

Very happy that we had Peter capture our engagement & wedding photos. He was fun & easy to work with, & we now have serveral images from 5x7 prints to 30x40 canvases displayed around our house. We also hired his videography company Red + Olive (we're obsessed with the teaser film & cannot wait to get the full length video) & rented his Gifyy Booth for the reception (such a hit with everyone, & now we have hilarious/incriminating gifs of all our guests)! Peter was amazing! He did our engagement photos in Chicago. My fiancé & I are pretty laid back and were afraid we might look awkward in engagement photos, but Peter made us super comfortable. It was even FUN for both of us! We went a little out of the box with Wes Anderson-themed photos. We let Peter take creative lead and the photos surpassed what we imagined. I've gotten so many compliments on all of our photos and I'm so excited to have them to look back on.

Peter was easy to work with and very responsive when scheduling the shoot and figuring out logistics. If The Knot allowed us to add extra credit stars, Peter would totally receive all of them from us! My now husband stumbled across Peter's work on Instagram as we were looking at some photos of our venue and when he showed them to me I immediately told him that we needed to meet him. We set up a meeting one evening at a nearby Starbucks and boy the rest is just history! He is SO comfortable to be around even from day 1... which I found to be a huge plus when you're hiring someone to capture one of the most important days of your lives -- I mean seriously, who wants to feel awkward in front of a photographer and risk having cheesey photos to look at forever?! He asked questions and got to know us in our first meeting as you would a friend, not just a client-vendor relationship. We had a little engagement session with him downtown about a month prior to our big day so we could feel more comfortable not only with his direction but also for being in front of the camera (so helpful for this sometimes awkwardly photographed gal!!). We had all those pictures in a couple weeks and all our wedding photos in a month. My husband and I are planning on cracking open a bottle of wine and going through all the pictures tonight but from what we've seen so far, I simply couldn't hold back my review any longer! Peter has a talent that we have never seen before and we're so grateful to have all these amazing photographs capturing our love story -- he has really given us the greatest gift. Peter Gubernat was recommended by a friend who had epic engagement photos. Peter's website is very well done with lots of examples of his work and helpful tips for first timers on a photo shoot. After asking a few questions, we booked a sunrise session. Throughout the process, Peter was always very responsive, friendly and enthusiastic. The day of, my fiance and I were quickly put at ease through Peter's relaxed approach. He does an excellent job at providing direction for posing but also letting you be you. We became fast friends with Peter after just a few hours of chatting, strolling, and oh yea, taking pictures. Plus, he has your online photo gallery completed in a week! We cannot say enough good things about Peter and his amazing photos!

My fiancee and I asked Peter to do our engagement shots and absolutely loved everything about the experience. My initial interactions with him to share our vision for the locations, the lead-up to the shoot, and the actual shoot itself were amazing. We had such a fun morning! We ended up having a little extra time after we wrapped at the two locations we selected, so Peter and my fiancee and I just went for a walk around the area. Some of the BEST shots were from this little walk. Peter is an artist, a professional and a ton of fun. Book him immediately for engagement and wedding! This was our first time having pictures taken professionally, so we were not sure what to expect. Needless to say, our pictures came out SO amazing!! Peter delivered so many great shots that captured us and our favorite city. I would highly recommend a sunrise shoot because the lighting was simply amazing! Peter was also very easy to work with and always responded very quickly. He was very accommodating when the weather did not cooperate for the day we initially picked. We got our photos back around a week after our session which was great, too. I would highly recommend Peter for your engagement photos!!

Working with Peter was wonderful and our pictures came out amazing. My fiancé and I hired Peter to take some engagement photos for us. The session was extremely laid back, and we loved chatting with him along the way. There was also a pretty quick turnaround time on getting them back, which we really appreciated as we were anxious to see how they came out. And they came out amazing! We will treasure them always.

We hired Peter Gubernat as our wedding photographer for our wedding in June 2016. How do I even begin to sing his praises. From the beginning I ( the bride) felt immediately comfortable with Peter and knew based on his work and speaking with him that he would be our wedding photographer. I was living out of state and at every moment he could we would check in to see how I was doing with planning a wedding out of state and if there was anything, not just photography related that he could help me with. We scheduled our engagement photos on short notice bc my husband and I were going to be in town, and Peter was totally accommodating to our schedule. He helped us choose great locations and the photos turned out great! After this session both my husband and I were even more excited to have him shoot the wedding. On our actually wedding day Peter was incredibly professional. He and his second shooter were on time, battled the rough heat and humidity that day kept us smiling and enjoying our photos. His photos speak for themselves, some of the shots he captured are very unique and timeless. I can not recommend Peter enough, on a scale of 1-10, he is a 15! Peter was amazing to work with and made the entire day completely stress free! I wanted a tricky cab shot downtown and he made sure it happened! We lucked out with perfect weather, and the engagement pictures turned out way better than I could have ever imagined!! Definitely worth it!!

I believe that one of the most important parts of wedding planning is choosing a great photographer. After all, you’ll have your wedding photos to look back on for the rest of your life. I happened to stumble upon Peter on Facebook, and I was really intrigued by his storytelling approach. I decided to contact him, and he responded right away and we set up a Skype date. After talking to him on Skype, I was hooked! We didn’t even talk to any other photographers. Peter is a great guy, and he really cares about not only getting everything that you want out of your wedding photography, but also about you as a person. Peter was interested in our love story and our lives, which made working with him that much better. It was like working with one of your good friends. Peter first did our engagement photos. He was great with suggesting places to go and what to wear. He made us feel comfortable, to the point that we didn’t even feel like we were getting our picture taken. Our engagement photos came out amazing! We had so many compliments on them, and people asked (and hoped) if he was also shooting our wedding. So we had a great preview of his work before the big day. He kept in touch regularly before the wedding day. He helped to create a wedding day timeline. We had another Skype date to talk everything out before the wedding. He was very knowledgeable and helpful, and really was a big help to creating a flow on the wedding day. We had some weather issues on the wedding day, but Peter made it all work. His other shooters and assistants were also amazing! Peter also did our wedding video! It was really awesome to have photo and video all in one. I think it made everything easier and ran so much smoother. Our wedding photos turned out amazing! Better than I could have ever imagined! Peter gave us a little sneak peek on the wedding night, and I couldn’t wait to see all of the others. They were so great. I love, love, love the storytelling aspect. When I looked at the pictures, I felt like I was right back at the wedding. I could relive it, picture by picture, from getting ready all the way down to the last dance at the reception. Even looking at other peoples’ wedding photos that Peter has shot, you feel like you were at their wedding and could see the emotions throughout their day. I would highly recommend Peter as your wedding photographer. He is super easy to work with and very professional. He even connected with our guests at the wedding, and they had nothing but great things to say about him and his crew. You will come away with memories, new friendships, and the highest quality photos.

I look at the photos Peter and Jeremiah took of our wedding every single day. I'm not kidding. I can't believe how two people were able to capture every single moment of our wedding - but they did! Peter and Jeremiah gave us the story of our wedding. That is priceless. I now have a backstage/full-access pass to that entire day! I love it!! Peter was extremely prepared for our day. To say that our experience with Peter as our wedding photographer was amazing, is truly an understatement. Peter is phenomenal in all aspects of his work. Peter was great to work with for our engagement photos. He was down to earth and professional. He made us feel so comfortable. I loved his style of photography. He was timely with the finished photos to share with friends and family!

Peter did our engagement photos for us and if we were getting married in Chicago I would 100% book him for our wedding! When hiring photographers, my wedding planner told me "the most important thing is that you like this person, because they're going to be with you more than anyone else." Peter was so easy to work with and be around - friendly, professional, artistic, understanding, fun, funny, and a really cool guy. We never felt awkward or judged and he kept us moving and laughing in the very,very,very cold and windy Chicago morning. Plus, his photos are outstanding, they are really art and we are happy to use them for our save the dates and wedding website! I recently got engaged this fall and immediately started the tormenting process of finding and reserving the "Musts"-the church, the reception, and of course, the photographer. I previewed so many photographers sites-I lost track of how many I looked at. I felt this huge burden that I must preview EVERY site prior to making a decision because it truly is a once in a lifetime event. I found Peter's site early and it stayed in the "yes" column and remained the only absolute yes the entire process. So actually, after doing my due diligence, if I had just trusted my gut from the beginning, it would not have been such a tough process. We've been in your position before. All of us have. Pouring over reviews, looking at galleries online, researching vendors from previous weddings you've been to or perhaps stood up in. Peter did us solid. He was super collaborative and helpful in capturing the moment for me as I proposed to my girlfriend, followed by a couple of hours of photography in the city. We hired Peter Gubernat to take our wedding photos and engagement photos. I have nothing but positive things to say about Peter and his team. Of course, it was pouring rain and cold when we first scheduled. Michael was flexible in moving our date. On our rescheduled rain date, it was also pouring and cold. We, along with Michael, decided to give it a whirl anyways. Michael was amazing. We were miserably cold and uncomfortable, but Michael was smiling, happy, and enthusiastic the ENTIRE time. He made it as pleasant as it could be. A week went by and we were contacted by both Peter and Michael. They said that the pictures turned out well, but definitely could be better thanks to the weather. They offered to do a second shot with us in a few weeks, for free. During the second set of engagement shots, not only was the weather 100x better, but both Michael and Peter came out for our sunrise session. The four of us had an absolute blast and we had much better pictures than the first time. This was when we knew we picked the right company, and we haven't even gotten to the wedding yet! This past Labor Day weekend was our wedding day. Michael and Vic got to the hotel and immediately started working. They were punctual, kept to a timeline, and were extremely professional. They kept everyone in a great mood and really captured the feel of the day. I don't know how they did it, but they did. The shots of the bridal parties getting ready, the first look, out around Chicago before the ceremony, formal portraits, to the reception, was everything we wanted. They even made sure to get shots of the majority of our guests. Since we've gotten the wedding photos, we've looked at them so many times and often take 2 hours to sit and just relive our perfect day. We really couldn't be happier with Peter and his team. Peter is an incredible photographer. We could not be happier with our engagement photos and what we've seen of our wedding photos. He put everyone at ease the day of and is undeniably talented. Choosing him as our photographer was the best choice I could have made.

We had our engagement photographs taken in August, and we were so happy with how they turned out! We are getting married on the West Coast, but wanted our engagement shoot done in Chicago (where we met). Peter was so flexible with us when it came to the locations we wanted (like the law school where we met), even though he had never been to some of those spots before. He immediately made us feel comfortable in front of the camera, and some of my favorite photos are the spur-of-the-moment shots between the posed photos when we didn't even know he was taking pictures. Peter was absolutely phenomenal to work with and could not be happier with the results! We first booked Peter for our engagement photo's in Chicago last summer and then for our wedding this past July in Cleveland, Ohio. He approached Cleveland with a fresh perspective and produced some of the best and most breathtaking pictures, which turned out better than we could have ever imagined! Peter and his assistant, Michael, made our wedding day so enjoyable and fun! The biggest piece of advice I can offer another bride is to pick vendors that are not only talented, but that you like (especially photographer/videographers) because they are with you all day! Everyone in our family and bridal party commented on how professional, yet fun these two were to work with - they were able to put everyone at ease and capture moments throughout the day without having to force awkward poses. There are pictures my husband and I look at now saying "I had no idea that they were able to capture that moment?!" - which is amazing! Even our day-of-coordinator commented on wonderful Peter and Michael were to work with and how they made her job that much easier. Communication was excellent and the turn around was incredible - we received our photo's back 4 weeks after our wedding date as promised, with a sneak peak of a few photo's on his blog in between - which was such a nice surprise on our honeymoon! Overall, amazing photo's, super talented, professional, and wonderful people! Highly recommended!

Out of this world! Peter just did our engagement photos, and we could not be happier! Not only were the actual photos absolutely amazing, but the entire photo shoot was so much fun as well. We'd never taken any sort of professional photos before, but he put us at ease and made us look and feel like pros. We were completely comfortable; never once did we feel posed. Everything was very natural, which translated into our photos. We look like ourselves (better, more magic-worked versions of ourselves), not mannequins. Peter is very professional- he was on time, accommodating to our schedules, and even rescheduled our shoot with a week's notice. Honestly the best of the best! My fiancé and I had been putting off engagement photos for almost a full year when I came across Peter's blog online. I was immediately impressed by the way he seemed to capture unique aspects of each couple he photographed! After contacting him, he continued to impress me with his prompt responses and positivity. The day of the photos he did not disappoint- I would have never imagined that a sunrise photo session would be so fun! Peter and Michael made my fiancé, Andy, and I feel so comfortable, we could tell we were in good hands. They also took time to get a feel for us as a couple and as a result, they put a level of care into the photographs themselves that I really appreciated- I have been photographed before where it seemed like there was a minimum number of shots the photographer felt required to take. This was not the case at all! Peter and Michael clearly take pride in their pictures and were not finished until they had a set of pictures that they liked- which was huge, because when you get a picture you LOVE because your photographer didn't mind changing surroundings one more time it makes you appreciate it even more! Peter was an amazing photographer. He did our engagement session in early April prior to our destination wedding in February. He made us feel at ease, which showed in the photographs. I can't say enough wonderful things about Peter Gubernat. I was originally drawn to him for his affordable pricing and classic yet stunning photography (I wanted to stay away from cheesy and trendy). Upon meeting him and seeing more of the work that he has done (he was just getting started) we knew it would be a fit right away. Peter did our engagement photos and they turned out wonderfully! Peter was my photographer for my engagement photos! We had an amazing experience with him. We woke up bright and early for a sunrise shooting at North Avenue beach and it turned out to be more than we could ever imagine. In just two hours we laughed uncontrollably and had a blast, it was effortless to take these photos. Peter took us downtown as well to capture the essence of city life, but we had the option to shoot anywhere we felt like going. We got all of our proofs and can use them however we want. My fiancé and I decided last minute to take engagement photos. We did our research and fell in love with the Peter's style of photography. With our pictures needing to be ready last minute, Peter was extremely accommodating. He not only was able to photograph us quickly, but he even gave us style tips! Looking for a photographer was a very challenging thing for me as foreign bride. My husband is the best and he truly trust my decisions. I found Peter on my research online and I was hooked for their unique pictures. After we talked to him he was do helpful and really work around our budget. We're so incredibly happy that we decided to our wedding with him and Michael. It's true that it was a bit over oit budget but every penny was so worthy. We absolutely love our engagement photos! We seriously can't say enough good things about Peter and his assistant, Mike. There are so many wedding-related expenses, and we almost skipped the engagement photos, but we're SO happy we found Peter because his work is truly worth every penny.
