The Peter Shields Inn was the perfect venue for our intimate wedding of 35 guests. Amy was the best wedding coordinator we could’ve asked for! She was incredibly responsive throughout the entire planning process and truly brought our vision to life.
The food was phenomenal, the staff was wonderful, and we loved that our guests could stay right at the Inn. Peter Shields Inn will always hold such a special place in our hearts, and we know we’ll continue coming back for years to come.

Couples and their nearest and dearest can embark on a sun-kissed seaside celebration with Atlantic vistas, gourmet dining, and specialty beverages. The Peter Shields Inn & Restaurant is a 1907 Georgian Revival mansion just steps from the local beach. Ceremonies can be held on this very beach, before the grand staircase, or in front of the mansion. After the rings have been fitted and vows exchanged, everyone can retreat inside for a delicious array of culinary delights, desserts, and beverages from the bar. This waterfront venue best suits smaller weddings of 20 to 120 guests.
The Peter Shields Inn & Restaurants holds a one-event-per-day policy, meaning you can have the entire space to yourself for your nuptial festivities. ry expectation. Beautifully located just across the street from the beach in Cape May, NJ, the setting alone is stunning and full of charm.
They graciously accommodated our group of 30 guests in their Brides Room for a private dinner, and despite the smaller wedding size, it felt every bit as meaningful, elegant, and memorable as a larger wedding celebration. We were able to bring in our own wedding cake and have on-site photography, which made the evening feel even more personal and special. Our guests also enjoyed relaxing on the porch with cocktails while my husband and I took photos on the beach. It was such a lovely and seamless experience.
The entire staff was warm, welcoming, and attentive, but the event coordinator, Amy, truly went above and beyond. She was absolutely spectacular; always prompt, thorough, and thoughtful in her communication. She connected us with outstanding local vendors: Khalil for piano, Tim Joyce for photography, Cape Winds Florist for centerpieces, and Bake Works for our cake. Every single vendor she recommended was exceptional and easy to work with.
Amy also ensured that all dietary restrictions were handled with care and kindness, and she went out of her way to help set everything up in advance so that we could simply arrive, relax, and fully enjoy our time with our loved ones. Her patience, professionalism, and genuine care made the entire process stress-free and truly enjoyable.
This was truly a 10/10 experience for us. We highly recommend Peter Shields Inn to anyone looking for a beautiful, intimate, and unforgettable setting to celebrate a marriage or special occasion. It was everything we hoped for and more.

We used some of the vendors from the recommended list and they were all amazing, especially Kahlil the pianist who plays at the restaurant most nights. The whole staff was wonderful and our guests can not stop talking about the food. We dropped off our reception items the night before and everything was set up for us, leaving us with nothing to do the day of. The venue and grounds are truly stunning. I can not even put into words how grateful we are to have had our wedding here. Everything was truly perfect and we can not thank Peter Shields enough.

Selecting Peter Shields Inn as our wedding venue was an absolute game-changer in wedding planning and made our lives so much easier!
By booking PSI, it was almost like booking a w...
edding "kit"--the venue was nailed down for both the ceremony & reception (it included enough chairs for our ceremony), food/catering staff was handled by PSI, and Amy stepped in as our wedding coordinator. Amy was super helpful throughout the entire process and was just such a calming force on the day itself. She is an absolute pro!
The venue is obviously stunning and has made for both wonderful memories and photos. We got tons of positive feedback from our guests and everyone loved the food! PSI being BYOB ended up being a blessing in disguise...we were able to pick out and splurge on exactly what we (and our guests) like most.
We had a very small wedding (24 total) and booked all of the rooms at the inn. One somewhat overlooked bonus at the time of booking: once the restaurant closed, since we had all of the rooms at the inn, we had the place to ourselves. My husband and I, along with our closest friends and family, were all able to continue to hang out in the common areas (downstairs lounge, outside porches/patios, etc.), which ended up being some of our most special time from the day...everyone just sitting around together into the late hours of the night, laughing and talking.
If we had to do it all over again, or if we ever need a venue for another event, I will no doubt book PSI again. It was just lovely, easy (or I should say, "made easy" by all the staff), the location is fabulous (both by the beach but also being in Cape May), and everyone had a great time!

We rented out all 9 guest rooms for our family/ wedding party, which was definitely the way to go! Amy worked alongside us throughout our 8 months of wedding planning and was a rockstar the day-of. From setting up decor, to perfectly executing our elegant yet minimalistic vision, to greeting and directing our vendors, and her ability to navigate any wedding-related challenge, she allowed us to fully relish every moment and focus on the joy of getting married. PSI's lower level lounge was comfortable and chic-- perfect for bridal party getting ready and hanging out after our rehearsal dinner with our guests for a night cap by the fireplace. Christoph, Peter and the rest of the PSI team were a dream. They made sure my groom and I got to enjoy our appetizers (despite missing cocktail hour for photos after our ceremony) and thanks to them, I was never without a perfectly chilled glass of champagne. We received multiple compliments on how friendly, professional and wonderful the staff were and of course the food speaks for itself- just delicious. The venue is directly across from the beach which was perfect for photos after our ceremony. Our guests keep raving about our wedding and we honestly can't imagine a more picturesque day; truly a memory we will cherish forever. Thank you for making it all possible!

o the wedding, she was responsive and so helpful in answering my many questions. Our wedding day was amazing and Amy was a huge part of making our day so special. She was so organized and on top of everything, which make my day stress free.
The venue itself is beautiful! When we got married, the Inn was decorated for the holidays. The decor was timeless and classy with silvers and gold, which meant that we really didn't need to bring much more in for decor. I appreciated that they are a BYOB venue, so I saved a lot of money on alcohol. The food was AMAZING. Our family is still talking about how great the food was over a month later.
I can't recommend Peter Shields Inn enough!

but Amy helped me plan all details via email and phone – all of her advice was incredibly helpful including the well curated vendor list. The toughest decision you will have to make is selecting the entrees and apps from the gourmet menu. Here is a tip, pick the asparagus in puff pastry for appetizer – my aunt is mad at me for not asking the chef for the recipe. I cannot thank the PSI team enough for making my dream of an elegant wedding come true.

My wife and I were searching for an intimate venue for our 60-person wedding in Cape May and couldn't have found a better place to host it than Peter Shields Inn and Restaurant. As...
soon as we stepped inside, we knew we'd found our venue and right after our tour, we cancelled a tour with other venue scheduled for later that day. PSI is a beautiful historic building located right across the street from the beach, and was a stunning backdrop to our ceremony on the front steps and lawn of the inn. The space was the perfect size for our reception, and our guests were able to move from the covered porch to the dance floor, bar, and dining area with ease. The food was incredible: one of the reasons why we chose PSI was because we'd heard they serve the best dinner in town, and we wanted to prioritize providing our guests with a good meal. Amy, their event coordinator, was so helpful throughout the planning process. I lost count of how many emails I sent her with all my questions, which she always answered promptly and thoroughly. We also brought A LOT of decor with us, which she set up the morning of the wedding. Lastly, my biggest worry was that people wouldn't dance at our smaller daytime wedding, but the dance floor was packed the entire time! So many guests came up to us to tell us that ours was one of the best weddings they'd attended. Thank you, Amy and the rest of the PSI staff for bringing our dream wedding to life!

and the whole venue felt intimate. We were easily able to spend time with all of our guests. We loved how much we could customize our ceremony and reception and that many of our guests could stay on the premises. Amy was a great coordinator. She was always helpful and responsive while planning the wedding, and everything went seamlessly on our wedding day. She was very present but made everything seem effortless on the day, and she has a very calm energy that we really appreciated. The food was delicious and was complimented by our guests. We were thrilled with the landscaping around the Inn, it was really beautifully done, and all of the blooming flowers really added to our photos. We used vendors suggested by PSI as well, and all of them were great. We particularly enjoyed working with our photographer Aleks and the pianist Kahlil, who were both extremely professional, kind, and talented. Lastly, we found PSI very accommodating. For one example, I asked Amy if a member of the staff would be able to Facetime the ceremony for a family member who couldn’t be present, and PSI really went above and beyond to make our family member feel included in our day, which was very much appreciated. Our wedding turned out exactly as we hoped, and we would recommend PSI to anyone looking to host a small wedding.

not only to myself, and my now Husband but our guests as well! Amy, the Wedding and Event Coordinator was incredible every step of the way. I was a bit of a nervous Bride but I was always put at ease as Amy very, very patiently answered all of my many questions. Amy even came in on her day off on the day before our wedding to go over everything with us and to make sure we were taken care of.
If you’re familiar with Cape May, you know Peter Shield’s is one of the best restaurants in town and all of the food at the wedding was phenomenal! All of our guests really enjoyed their meal and appetizers during the cocktail hour. Not only was every morsel of food that was served delicious but everything had such beautiful presentation which was super important to us.
Peter Shield’s Inn is such a gorgeous venue from the exterior of the building and the landscaping outside. In fact, we didn’t do much for decor outside because it’s so beautiful year-round. The inside of the inn is such a beautiful and historic building making it the perfect backdrop for our Cape May wedding.
To summarize, Peter Shield’s is a crown jewel of Cape May and it made our wedding day shine and my Husband and I can’t recommend it enough!

The food was incredible and the atmosphere, from the inviting front porch to the cozy bar and dining areas, were perfectly romantic for our special day.
We had about 60 people for our Beach wedding and the cocktail hour and reception following in PSI. Amy helped coordinate everything with such ease that we didn’t need to worry. We rented out the entire inn for our guests and everyone raved about the fantastic food and hospitality of the Inn. We made good use of the newly installed patio area for some little gatherings the night before and night after the wedding. If you are looking for a beach wedding or a Cape May venue for your special day then you should put Peter Shields Inn at the top of your list. We got married on a weekend with a hurricane on the way and I was a mess all week because our hope was to get married on the steps outside. A miracle happened within the Cape May bubble and Amy and our vendors and staff at Peter Shields had us outside for our dream wedding and it all went beautifully. The timing of everything was down to a science concerning the ceremony, cocktail hour and dinner set up. Everyone was highly professional, courteous, and kept it fun and alive with the fear of a hurricane happening on our wedding day. We wouldn't have wanted it any other way and we are so happy to have started our lives together at Peter Shields.

re day was! So many people said it was the best wedding they have ever been to and told us how cool the venue was. Amy was extremely helpful during the planning and the day of the wedding. We used all of the vendors she suggested and it made it even easier because they have all done weddings at PSI in the past. The venue was everything and more. We did not want a "traditional" type wedding. We had just around 80 guests and everyone was up dancing the entire time! We had corn hole outside for guests and we had all rooms rented upstairs by us. The food was absolutely AMAZING!! Everyone told us it was the best food they have ever had at a wedding. The rice balls were soooo good! Amy and her team made the day absolutely amazing for us. I had small laser cut-out names and menus to put on each guest's seat (80 of them) and she did it all perfectly! (not that I ever doubted her!) We wish we could relive this perfect day over and over again. PSI will forever be one of our favorite and most special places to visit. We can not wait to come back every year on our anniversary. Planning and pulling off an authentic 20's themed wedding is a daunting task when you hire a wedding planner, but i...
t triples in difficulty when you are doing it yourself and it involves the display of actual 1920's art, sculpture, and artifacts. Amy showed up at oh-dark-thirty to help me set up for an an 11 am ceremony only to be faced with a mountain of crates full of display items. She faced it with aplomb, and never batted an eye. She moved us through the entire process smoothly, and trusted that everything would end up perfectly, and it did. The entire staff has a wonderful 'Can Do' attitude that I have seldom encountered outside the military. The food is OUTSTANDING, the rooms are OUTSTANDING, and the e-mail negotiations were handled in a timely and professional manner.
Everybody thinks their wedding is the best. Thanks to Amy, Carl, and the staff at PSI....OURS WAS THE BEST. :)

Our wedding at PSI was just over a month ago on the Saturday of Labor Day weekend (8/31/19). Absolutely nothing about our experience at Peter Shields did not live up to our expecta...
tions. The food, the ambiance, the ease of planning and most importantly the amazing staff… that treated us like family the entire weekend….we can’t say enough about our amazing wedding and positive experience. Everything was top notch.
Thank you Amy (on-site coordinator) for all of your assistance from beginning to end…you really were such a help communicating with all of our vendors, and most importantly such a pleasure to work with!!!…. and RJ for always treating us so well every time we are at PSI!! We can't wait to come back.
PSI gave us a truly unique wedding experience, which is exactly what we were looking for!! Our friends and family all had the best time and it was a beautiful and perfect day all around. We had our son’s rehearsal dinner at PSI and it was everything we wanted and more. Amy and her staff are amazing! The room looked perfect! The flowers were beautiful, the place car...
ds and menus were perfectly placed, and the staff went above and beyond on service. We had some last minute changes to placement and seating and they made it happen effortlessly. The food was delicious and just as great as when we were there as a couple. It was a wonderful night and we received so many compliments. Thank you PSI for the perfect memory!
