Having access to both inside and outside was key for us - we set up games like cornhole, axe throwing, and 4 square in the lawn, had dancing on the porch, and food inside. Absolutely perfect!

Making the decision of where to have your daughter's wedding is a big one. The house is stunning, the grounds are beautiful and set to do a wedding of ten or, who knows how many (we had 120). One statement that Steve made that resonated with me was about the food, "we don't open cans", let me just say, it showed. The food was fantastic, not your typical wedding food! Steve and everyone that works with him make YOUR day as wonderful as possible. Ours was fantastic!

The staff was professional and attentive and kept offering to do things to help us get ready for the party like decorating the tables with the arrangements we brought and placing the party favors at each dinner plate. We had the added difficulties of planning throughout a pandemic and Steve helped make a very stressful situation much more manageable. Everything turned out as planned and even exceeded our expectations. The venue was perfect to get ready at on the day of our wedding and our ceremony turned out beautiful. The food was delicious. I cannot say enough positives about our experience. I would definitely recommend time and again to anyone looking to book their wedding.

That being said we feel obligated to bring to your attention some of the issues we did encounter in the preparation for our event. Firstly, we found Steve Clements difficult to work with and we were not given a choice of caterers. This proved to be a problem. We requested on several occasions to be given a price list with options of food choices, but Steve was not able to provide us with this. My husband and I are from Louisiana and we are very familiar with event planning as we have catered large festivals as well as our own home events on a number of occasions. It is our understanding that most caterers will give you a list of options with multiple choices of appetizers, entrees, and salads and depending on the amount of food options picked will determine the cost. We requested this from Steve on a number of occasions and his response was,” my chefs can prepare whatever you want.” As you can imagine this was not a very professional or satisfactory answer. We feel an option menu would serve your caterer well. As our event drew nearer and we feared the weather would not cooperate Steve offered that we change the venue to a “car dealership”. He had originally stated that he could provide rain tunnels, but we were then informed that this would cost an extra $7000 which we felt was outrageous. Secondly, not only my husband and I but our daughter and the wedding planner were hard pressed to get a straight answer from Steve regarding any matter that arose. My husband and I also found more than one mathematical error on his invoices that we had to bring to his attention (one of these mistakes was $1000 difference). Again, this was quite troublesome to us. There were several other smaller items that were not handled as we were expecting and as any one of these would not have been significant, all together they proved to make our experience less than ideal. Just to name a few. Servers did not know what the appetizers were (they erroneously told guest that crab cakes or boudin balls were meatballs and as a physician I found this concerning as some guests had shellfish allergies. The planters at the home were not filled with greenery or flowers of any kind, as we were told they would be, until we requested that they be filled and then the larger ones still were not. The charcuterie boards were more for the size of a large dinner party and not for 200 people and were quickly picked clean and never refilled or replaced. In spite of these setbacks, we had a wonderful experience. There were many positives in that the food served was very good and the tent was very nice. The grounds proved to be a beautiful venue for the reception and thankfully the weather cooperated. The tables and chairs were arranged nicely. The house was a wonderful place for the bridal party to prepare for the big day and made for exceptional pictures. For all of these things we thank you for the use of your property. However, we hope in the future that others who will be using this venue do not have to experience many of the tribulations that we waded through.

We heard numerous guests marveling at the historic house and grounds and it provided a gorgeous backdrop for family photos, bride/groom portraits, and candids as we and our guests had a lovely evening. We were blessed with fantastic spring weather so we all spent the evening taking in the beautifully maintained trees and gardens. I will echo some of the comments made in the other reviews; Steve, the venue coordinator, is clearly a seasoned professional and knows how to run a great event at the property. At times it was difficult to get timely responses or details in writing, but in our experience that wasn’t due to carelessness. Instead, it seemed to speak to Steve’s strong sense of what would work well and his outstanding staff’s ability to deliver on the event. We found it much easier to just call Steve and discuss ideas rather than trying to go back and forth in email. Again, we could not speak more highly of the event staff and catering. After the event, several of our guests went out of their way to tell us how friendly, generous, and professional the staff were all evening. It made an enormous impact in how relaxed and familial the evening felt. Furthermore, the buffet-style serving we chose was executed perfectly—food was hot, fresh, and readily available. All told, we couldn’t imagine another way we would’ve wanted to have our wedding reception look and feel like Louisville from cocktails to closing.

They were flexible on what type of food and alcohol they offered and the food was so good that I was getting compliments on it all night, no joke! The house is gorgeous and the upstairs suites are beautiful and spacious. My guests had such a great time and were raving about the house and the grounds all night. We were so happy with our choice of venue and couldn't have asked for a better experience.

We had a large outdoor wedding with the ceremony in the Rose Garden and the reception and cocktail hour under a beautiful white tent. You simply tell Steve Clements your dream and he makes it reality... I would like to mention how wonderful the parking is, no fighting downtown traffic, no parking garage to deal with just a short stroll up to the house from your car. The house is handicap accessible and this was of absolute importance to me, and I feel worth mentioning!

on the wedding day was amazing. With that being said, in my opinion, the manager and owner of the catering company, Steve, was a nightmare to work with. He was very opinionated and cocky. Which was an immediate turn off when my now husband and I met him but we loved the venue so much to go with it for our wedding. If you do decide on this venue, please get everything in writing. Including the pricing because that changed on us a few times. When it came to the day of the wedding, the venue had told our dj they couldn’t be inside when in the past they have played inside. So we were very confused by that last minute change. After some confusion with our sweetheart table that Steve says we got rid of(we didnt) the staff had to scurry to figure out a way to bring it back. Thank goodness they were able to solve this issue. Oh and it’s really sad that his own staff said that he was difficult to work with and that they’ve had to fix a lot of his issues. The dj was very disappointed in this establishment and wanted us to write them a negative review to inform other potential bookers for this venue. (Note: this needs to be removed as this is not related to your direct wedding experience with this vendor) *Actually that was my experience and I will not delete that!* Also the food was okay. Oh our menu had a vegetarian option and a chicken dish, we didn’t receive the vegetarian option on the wedding day. Didn’t know why that didn’t happen. Like I stated above, the venue is stunning but, I wouldn’t recommend it.

The food at Clementine Caterer is delicious and affordable as well as their staff. The house itself is a great venue, with lovely bridal and groomsmen suites upstairs. The parking is very easy and there is a ton behind the house at Barrett Middle School. We got married in the garden which was a tight squeeze for 158 people but it was a beautiful setting, then we had cocktail hour in the horse shoe drive way and had the reception under a tent, it was a wonderful setting. My only compliant would be working with Steve, not so much as a caterer but as venue coordinator. He is very much set in his ways, he's hard to get ahold of and he has little flexibility when it comes to changing the layout of the venue or the process in general. But all in all, our wedding day was amazing and our pictures will be stunning!
