At first I was extremely happy with this vendor. The manager was quick to respond to emails and very helpful in the beginning. She was also willing to allow us to have an outside caterer that was not on Pettibone approved caterers list. Our caterer was approved months in advance. We did a final walk through of our venue 3 months before our wedding and brought up to the manager that our caterer has paper plates and plastic silverware. She was okay with it in June. I got an email 2 weeks before our wedding saying that it went against their policy and I had to pay a $500 fee to have the manager hire staff to do dishes. The manager and staff of Pettibone were extremely rude and unprofessional to the caterers the day of the wedding. I also received a fine because there was a few cans of alcohol found that they do not sell at Pettibone. Those cans came off our party bus and were brought in to be thrown away. You also receive a 20% service charge on the price of the venue. Be careful with this venue, read your contract carefully, and be ready to pay fines. I ended up paying an extra $1400 on fees and fines. Absolutely do not recommend!
Pettibone Resort-Kristin - Venue Coordinator
10/10: From the beginning, Kristin and her staff have been more than amazing. During our initial tour, Kristin’s enthusiasm for her job and the venue was apparent. That meant so much to myself, my husband, and our parents.
Communication over the year and a half leading up to the wedding was always timely. She always returned emails and phone calls. She was flexible with meeting times and really helped with our vision of the day. Kristin was also very hands on the day of the wedding helping with set up of decor, the altar, timing during the ceremony, and during dinner!
The resort itself is stunning! It fit right in with our dark and moody theme, and the view of the river from the altar was everything we could have dreamed. The space is not crowded, plenty of room outside and inside for guests. Plenty of different areas for photo ops too! The bathrooms are clean, the bridal suite has everything you, your girls, and the MUA’S need. The bartenders are quick and friendly. We had the best day. Kristin and her staff made sure all went smoothly. We cannot thank them enough!
This venue is beautiful & right on the Mississippi river. Overall, communication was easy as you could reach them via email or telephone. There were some instances where the coordinator was out of office during normal business times as she helps manage the campground as well so some responses to questions took a couple days. Otherwise, the staff was professional and very accommodating to our needs & had extra decorations there if needed. Everything ran smoothly and we are very happy with our venue choice!
We are so happy we chose Pettibone for our wedding!! Teri was fantastic to work with - she was on top of things and was clear about when she would reach out for final details but I was emailing her throughout the planning process with all kinds of questions and she was always very responsive and approachable. The venue was beautiful for an outdoor ceremony right on the river with a beautiful banquet hall for an indoor reception. We got a lot of compliments on how relaxing the venue felt and people felt like they could really enjoy the evening at their own pace - some danced all night, some hung out outside on the huge deck or at the bonfire and some camped out at the bar.
There's a beautiful new bridal suite that we had a great time getting ready in and it was easy to track Teri down for last minute day-of questions. She put a few really nice touches on the day by having champagne in the bridal suite for us and even helping with a couple decoration tips and tricks.
Highly recommend looking at Pettibone for your wedding!
Venue itself was beautiful and we got several compliments from guests. Although, the level of communication from management was horrible and made planning stressful. Promised us that we could have the venue to rehearse, but locked the doors. Gave us our final bill 3 days before the wedding. Forced the father of the bride to pay for the open bar without the bride or groom knowing when there was a different plan discussed.
Great location and beautiful venue. Terrible venue manager. The only reason we chose to have our reception at Pettibone Resort was because of a previous venue manager who made us feel super comfortable and excited about the venue. If we would’ve toured with the current venue manager, we wouldn’t have chosen to have our reception there. We could tell (and were told by several other wedding guests) that she seemed like we were bothering her and she didn’t want to be there or be doing that job. So disappointing.
Pettibone was a perfect resort to hold a smaller wedding (160 people). It had such a cozy atmosphere and had a beautiful surrounding, right on the river! They were relatively cost effective (as far as wedding resorts go) and the new staff was pretty accommodating to many of my requests. Highly recommended for the more simplistic bride who likes a cozy atmosphere and more relaxed venue.
Pettibone exceded my expectations- we had a gorgeous wedding day there! The inside has been repainted and redecorated, and they have new white chairs for the outdoor ceremony- it looks so lovely! We had our wedding and reception there and the owner was taking over as manager/event planner while they look for a replacement, and she was extremely helpful, kind, and flexible. We had the best day! I think you get great value for cost and the views of the river are just priceless! Having everything in one location was so convenient as well. The only thing I would say could use an upgrade are the chairs in the dining hall- they are a standard black pleather banquet chair; we ordered and used chair covers to match the white tablecloths so it wasn't a huge deal, but it was an extra cost for us. Overall, we had a really good experience at Pettibone Resort.
The wedding venue is absolutely gorgeous. The event manager and staff are so helpful. Would highly recommend!!
Chris was great to work with in every step of the planning stages. Even though he was unable to be there the day of our wedding he reassured me his staff would take care of everything and they did. They were very friendly and prompt. Everything went very smooth. We also had our ceremony on the deck overlooking the river. It was perfect even though the river was really high. I would highly recommend this venue for anyone wanting an outdoorsy atmosphere for their wedding.
Chris was great to work with from day one. He provided all kinds of ideas and you can tell he also has a lot of experience. Our reception was beautiful and elegant. The venue is set on the river bank with windows overlooking the setting - gorgeous. It was blistery cold, so we couldn't enjoy much outside, but we were having a blast inside anyway. I'd highly recommend Pettibone Resort.
I had gotten married at Pettibone Resort and Banquet in August. Chris the coordinator for the location was great! He was able to answer any questions I had and was able to work out the few curve balls I threw him on the day of! The location is beautiful it is located right off the Mississippi River and the Ceremony location has a beautiful view of it. The pictures on his website does not do it justice! The resception location was so well set up! They had the reception (dinner/dance room) they had a seperate room for the bar, and a seperate location for the buffet line. Being set up like that made it feel like the place was huge because the only time that every one was in the same room together was for dinner after that some of our guests went back out side and enjoyed the beautiful scenery and wonderful weather, some went and hung out at the bar and most stayed in the banquet room. I can not talk enough about this space everyone at our wedding enjoyed it and though it was amazing. The banquet facility is located off a camp ground so if you have some guests that dont mind camping before the wedding they are open to do so. Chris was again amazing he was able to direct where me and my groom were set to go and what times! He really has it down to a skill and there isnt much he hasnt seen or has been surprised about he will give you pointers when you feel you need them and then also keep quiet when he may know something might not work out well but its something you really want (IE. ISLE RUNNERS!)The food was amazing! Their chicken with white wine sauce was the big favorite with the whole group. When J and I were looking in to booking spaces we actually live in Minnesota but we couldnt find anything that fit our "Woody" feel the moment we walked in the door of this location we fell in love we knew that we were sold on it right from the start!
