The Phat Hats put on a FABULOUS, high-energy party in true south Louisiana fashion for our daughter’s special day. Every single guest commented on how incredible the band was. They showed up and showed out. We had the best time. Wendell is insanely talented, along with the rest of the band. They know what they are doing. I hope we get to throw another party soon and hire them again. If we could do it all over, we wouldn't change a thing. Can't recommend them enough.

They’re a great band and everyone really enjoyed dancing while they played. They quit playing pretty abruptly about 15 or so minutes before the end of our contract, our coordinator had to remind them to come back on and announce the send-off, they had already taken two 25-minute breaks that weren’t mentioned in the contract, and a couple requests made very explicitly in many emails and texts weren’t followed through with. Everyone had a great time, but a few missteps left me a little disappointed at the end of the night :(

These guys were phenomenal! They have some truly great talent on stage. They played music that catered to every age group and kept the party alive all night. If I could give 10 stars out of 5 I would! There's no way words are going to be able to describe just how AMAZING the Phat Hat Band was for our wedding reception. First of all, my now-husband is a drummer, and his dad was a drummer in a wedding band, so the standards were set very high when booking a band for the wedding. I searched for weeks online for the right fit, and when I showed hubby the Phat Hat Band, he finally said "they're it!" Honestly though, their great communication and professionalism leading up to the event were only glimpses of how downright AMAZING this band was every second of our big day. They know what they are doing!!! Every single guest at our wedding came up to us with jaws dropped going "Oh my god, this band is so good!" They ROCK. They're romantic. They're charismatic. Their sense of timing is perfect. They understand the flow of a wedding reception. They're funny. They're helpful. They're generous. They're smooth, dare I say sexy. And they're so so so incredibly talented. Special thanks to Rick and everyone in the band for learning "Dancing in the Moonlight" for me, and "Listen to the Music" for the groom! We will be back in 5 years to throw another bash and the Phat Hat Band will be our first call to book again!! P.S. We had some really last minute curveballs thrown our way, and the band rolled with it like heroes. Forever grateful to the Phat Hat Band. P.P.S. They could probably charge twice what they're charging and get away with it because they're that good. But I really hope they don't because people like us want to be able to hire them again!

Phat Hat Band was exceptional for our son's wedding! Rick was so easy to work with and communicated with us throughout the process. They were punctual, extremely professional and were the perfect wedding band. They knew how to keep a crowd on the dance floor and were extremely interactive. BEST WEDDING BAND EVER. Truly amazing and so perfect for our big day. Rick was a breeze to work with and even MC'ed the rest of our event last minute (i.e. ceremony, speeches, first dance). Nearly every guest said that the band was phenomenal. One guest in a different room was actually convinced the band wasn't actually performing at the time because it sounded exactly like the recording. I'm SO glad I booked them! This is one of the best live bands in the Gulf South! Maybe I am bias because it was our wedding, but they were probably the best wedding band I have ever heard. This is an excellent band and I cannot recommend them enough. They did so well that family and friends were coming up to us during and after the wedding to ask where we had found them, where they were from, etc. My wife and I were looking through first dance songs and were hesitant to have a live rendition but ultimately decided to. We danced to "How sweet it is" and all I can say is WOW! These guys gave James Taylor a run for his money. They did such an amazing job of reading the crowd and were able to not only get the party started but also keep it going! Everyone knows that the band and music is the most important part of a southern wedding. When it comes to music for your special night I would look no further than the guys and gals from Phat Hat. I think their tempo and timing of selections really made our wedding. They will give you and your loved ones a special night that will be talked about for weeks.

Don't decide, dance. Knowing when to announce the arrival of bride and groom, making the wise choices for the first dance, wedding party dance, and parental dance, all while timing breaks and cake-cutting is what you don't want to worry about when you arrive at the reception. Let Phat Hat do what they do best: Read the crowd, structure the event, and facilitate the memories. They saved us at least 10 decisions and much stress so that we could focus on dancing at our reception while not missing a beat on the reception expectations. Also, don't go cheap on the music. No one will be around to taste your $1,000 white almond cake if the music is cheezy. Get the best funky, horn band that knows how to plan, pivot, perform, and press those musical memories deep into your story. Get Phat Hat.

Looking back on our reception we couldn’t imagine it without Phat Hat! The week of the wedding, Hurricane Delta threw us a curveball and we were forced to reschedule our wedding for a 4th time. Literally the BEST band ever!! Beyond exceptional talent, very interactive, professional with all aspects leading up to the event as well as at the event, and nice as can be. Phat Hat was the absolute BEST band. We hired them for our New Orleans wedding reception after first watching them during a live outdoor show. When we told friends & vendors that we were searching for a soulful, funky and upbeat band, every single person recommended Phat Hat! During the reception, many guests approached us to comment on how good the band was. Their sound guy was even there, surveying the room and making sure everything was perfect. EVERYONE was dancing. At the end of our 4-hour reception, we still had a packed house with the crowd screaming for an encore from Phat Hat. On top of this, they were so incredibly accommodating, professional and quick to respond to emails. You will never regret the decision to hire Phat Hat. Stop looking and before someone else does!

My husband and I are taking time out of our honeymoon to write this review--that is how much we LOVED this band. They are truly talented, were very professional, and were incredibly accommodating to our needs. We had them play mostly 70s funk/Motown style wedding music and they kept the dance floor full the entire night. You should have no hesitation in booking these guys. A quick story to illuminate why they are so great: we asked them to learn a song very close to the wedding that was special to my mother-in-law's heart. They learned the song in two days and played it perfectly. If you're looking for one less thing to worry about at your wedding reception, then we would highly recommend you book Phat Hat!
