The Marriott Downtown was such an amazing find for our wedding day. First, the ballroom is absolutely beautiful with such elegance and class (and the balcony looking out to City Ha...
ll is so fun!). The staff is extremely professional and made everything run smoothly leading up to and on our day. On top of that, the hotel is large and centrally located, so it has everything that you or your guests might want. We had a lot of out of town guests but never had to worry about having enough space (even though we expanded our room block twice). The hotel has a Starbucks, a market, a gym, a bar, multiple restaurants all right in the lobby so we knew our guests would be well taken care of. We had our rehearsal dinner there as well and were so impressed by the venue. The luxury of the experience, the ease of planning, and the stunning beauty of the spaces were all so incredible, and especially given the extremely reasonable price tag, we would highly recommend the Marriott to anyone planning a wedding in Philly!
My husband and I got married at the Downtown Marriott on 12/31/21 and I cannot say enough positive things about our experience. I never thought a ballroom was going to be my type ...
of thing but this ballroom is absolutely beautiful, the high ceilings, the chandeliers, floor to ceiling windows/doors and the balcony. From the second we stepped foot in the door we knew would would be hosting our reception there.
Starting with the booking, we booked the Marriott during COVID so it was quite the experience and there were multiple people involved because the hotel was actually closed at the time. We worked with 4 different people throughout the course of our booking and the hand off from one to the other could not have run more smoothly. The last person we worked with, the event coordinator, was Gerard and he is truly the best person in the world. He was available 24/7 in the weeks leading up to the wedding, was willing to accommodate for anything we needed and then made sure the event ran PERFECTLY. We did not have an event planner or coordinator, I did it all, so having Gerard was a life saver and he literally took all of my stress away.
We had the complimentary hospitality suite the night before the wedding for the girls, the boys had the conference suite, there was PLENTY of space for our 15 girls and 15 guys to get ready. The hotel made sure everything we requested in the room was there on time and in the right spot. Gerard coordinated everything that day with the vendors, making sure my husband and I were OK and making sure we had everything we needed. Gerard moved all of our things to a new suite for the night of our wedding. We had our favorite beverage in the room as well! The hotel also took care of both sets of parents with their favorite drinks and suites.
The food was something that was very important to us. We were promised it was delicious and they were right!! We could not have been more impressed at our tasting but we were nervous that cooking for 200+ people would be different than cooking for 6. They proved us wrong. Our guests were raving about the food, it was insanely delicious from the cocktail hour, to the salad and dinner, the dessert and the late night food.
Our event could not have been better at the Marriott. The people, the staff, the food, the hotel, was absolutely a 5-star experience. I don't think people just Marriott's the time of day when looking for a wedding venue and it is a mistake because we truly could not have had a better experience.
We had our wedding ceremony and reception at the Marriott on 06/08/19. Half of our guests were from out of town and having everything at the hotel was helpful for us and our guest...
s. Working with everyone at the Marriott was alway pleasant. (Gerard and Barbara were so professional and amazing at their jobs!) The staff at the Marriott treated us like royalty!! Everyone had only positive reviews from our wedding. The staff, food, and venue was amazing. We are pleased to recommend the Marriott to anyone. The staff is really great at what they do and we loved with our Wedding Day!
My hubby and I just got married on 5/26/17 at the Marriott Downtown Philadelphia. We could not be more ecstatic about our experience, and our guests have made it known as well! Man...
y have said it was one of the best weddings they had ever been to. We shopped most of the big venues downtown from Cescaphe venues, Front and Palmer, The Philadelphia Library, etc. Our goal for the wedding planning was the make it fun and easy. When looking at the other venues, the transportation logistics started adding up to a nightmare and not to mention $$$. That's when we started looking at hotels. We met with Barbara, who toured the hotel and venue with us, and even treated us to dinner and drinks.. Oh and gave us a wine bottle to congratulate us. Talk about a great first impression! We had a down to earth conversation with her and after learning all of the perks of comping bride and grooms hotel rooms , getting a ton of Marriott points to pay for your honeymoon and how we could easily customize a package to what we want) it was without a doubt the easiest decision to book here. We had a TON of out of town guests and we wanted to make it easy for everyone to not just enjoy our wedding, but our city too! We had our ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception at the hotel. The food was OUTSTANDING. Our guests constantly spoke about how much they enjoyed the food. We had both the sea bass and tenderloin for dinner, yes, we got two things for dinner! They were amazing. The ballroom is drop dead gorgeous: 30+ feet high ceilings, a huge outdoor balcony right off the ballroom (which was great because it didn't separate the party, where some other venues the outdoor space was very far from the reception room), and first class, white glove service. Gerard was hands down amazing in helping us prepare for the event. He is the Senior Event Manager and my husband and I, parents, and in laws are beyond impressed with his service. From finding out if there have any dietary restrictions to what our favorite drinks are, he really made every little detail matter. We had a true food tasting that blew us away and we even got to meet the head chef! We made a lot of our own decorations and we had a room reserved to keep them in so we didn't have to worry about bringing them in the day of. I got to be in the bridal suite the night before, which was insanely huge- 1,400 sq feet! It was plenty of room for 20+ bridemaids and family members to get ready in. Our vendors also had comped parking and it was so easy for them to do what they needed to do. My husband stayed in a separate room attached to a huge conference room where he and his groomsmen had lunch and got ready the day of the wedding. Because of the location, we were able to do photos at City Hall and Dilworth park, which was only 1 block away!! We made a long weekend out of our wedding for our guests and had brunch at the hotel the day after, did a bus tour (it stops right at the hotel) and a historic pub crawl throughout the city. Our guest LOVED it. (warning- must have livers of steel to keep up!) We had our reception dinner at Bank and Bourbon (at the Loews hotel) and did our first look at the top of the building! It also makes for a great rain alternative for photos. We really cannot say enough good things about our experience. You truly get taken care of at the Marriott. We have already recommended it to so many of our friends and family. Book them! You won't regret a thing!

icious. The Marriott helped us to really enjoy our special day. We would recommend this to anyone looking for a venue with an awesome location, amazing service, great food, and peace of mind knowing that you can truly enjoy your wedding day at this reception venue.
Warning: Even though we booked 50 rooms with the Marriott, the whole process was terribly managed and they mischarged us an extra $2K for someone else's event.

We used the M...
arriott for our wedding block since we were getting married in Center City Philly and someone else had recommended the Marriott (and in particular, the wedding coordinator). We booked our room block a year in advance with this particular coordinator and he was fantastic!! He was friendly, helpful, proactive -- all of the things you would look for when you work with someone for your wedding. Everything went downhill from there though when this wedding coordinator moved into a new role in June.
After he left, the Marriott put a temporary person in the position and then fully filled it not long after. I did not hear, by phone, from the new wedding coordinator until about a month and a half before the wedding and from Day 1, I found her to be reactive, uncommunicative, and simply not helpful when it came to specific details. For example, the hotel was unable to book three consecutive nights for my aunt because they said that our block did not cover all three nights (it did). As a result, my aunt had to make a separate reservation for each night, which would have involved checking in and out of the hotel every day. I asked the wedding coordinator to combine the three reservations, thinking I was doing my aunt a favor and then, when the coordinator finally took care of it... my aunt received a confirmation that the reservation was CANCELED! She then had to spend significant time on the phone trying to get it fixed.
Other issues included:
- The Marquis suite not being ready for check-in in at the normal check-in time of 4 PM (we had arrived at 11 AM hoping they would have the room available early) and while they kept telling us to check back in, they didn't even have the room ready at the regular time. We had to leave for our rehearsal at 4:30 so we couldn't even get ready before the rehearsal dinner in our room.
- We had to switch a card in the guest bags due to a detail change for our brunch and the front desk told us it was easier for them to make the switch. It turns out some bags then had two cards (with different info), some only had the old card, and some had no cards.
- THEN, they billed us for a brunch that wasn't ours!! Talk about just wanting to be done at that point... they not only billed us for our brunch, but they billed us for a Rutgers event too in excess of $2,100. That is not just ridiculous but it makes me question what happened to my credit card info that they could ring it up for two separate events.
While the hotel was beautiful, the rooms were great, and the staff working at the bar, etc. were generally friendly.... I can guarantee you that we won't host another event at the Marriott due to the issues with the back end staff.
We had our wedding here on 10/22/16, and I am so happy we chose this venue! Gerard, our wedding coordinator, was an absolute gem and so great to work with! It was like having anoth...
er maid of honor. He answered all of our questions timely and was so patient with us. He was so eager to help when it came to dealing with the accommodations, vendors, decorations, and details for the day of. It made my day stress free. He stayed in contact the day of (in person and by phone) to make sure everything was going smoothly. The venue is absolutely beautiful, and the outside terrace in Liberty ball room is perfect complement. Our guests were very impressed with how helpful and polite the staff was. There were plenty of rooms available for our guests, and they provided a special room rate. Most of our family is from out of town, so a hotel site was preferred, and it is very convenient to just walk upstairs at the end of the night. They accommodated my special request for chicken Parmesan, which was delicious and huge hit! They treated us (bride and groom) so well the entire night, making sure we had enough food, our drinks were topped off, and even provided us with to-go containers with our main entrees. The venue also provides Marriott Rewards points, something my parents were able to take advantage of. I cannot say enough good things about the Marriott staff and Gerard!! Highly recommend :)

sands of emails) and patient, and was one of the reasons why our wedding was great. The Marriott has amazing service and really takes care of their bride/groom along with all of their guests. We had around 105 guests which was a nice size for the Liberty Ballroom. All of our guests commented on how pretty the actual ballroom was. The food was also delicious which we also got comments on. Everything was so easy having it all in one place with such a helpful staff and Patrick that we are so glad that we chose to have our wedding there. Thank you!
We had our wedding at the Philadelphia Marriott Downtown this summer, and it was absolutely fantastic. We had both our ceremony and reception there. Everyone is still raving about ...
the food. It was delicious! Also, the Liberty ballroom was the perfect place for us. We had about 175 guests, but it could have easily fit more. It is definitely a beautiful space.
Additionally, the event coordinators at the Marriott are so professional and really care about giving you a perfect wedding day. Dealing with Jim Weber and Nicole Trotter was a dream! Jim got back to me immediately whenever I had a question (big or small!). If I could do it all over again, I would most definitely do everything the same! It is a wonderful venue for any wedding!
Michele P is awesome! See her and Barbara P
The food was amazing and they provide you with so much food. The staff can be a little rude at times and they do not communicate well.
I can’t even begin to say what a pleasure it was to work with the Marriott. My bridesmaids and I were completely spoiled by the Marriott during our stay-- I really felt like a quee...
n in their care. The day of our wedding was flawless—every staff member was so kind and professional, particularly our event manager, Jessica. Jessica was a superhero—incredibly sweet and friendly, professional, and willing to bend over backwards to ensure the day was perfect.
Our wedding was a 200-guest Indian fusion wedding (I am American, my groom Indian) that was going to be very complicated—and about half our guests stayed at the Marriott. Jessica ensured perfection throughout the entire process and completely put me at ease. I was particularly impressed with how thoughtful and organized Jessica was—I had a lot of little details (tablecloth color, lots of diy decorations, a special memorial table, etc) and she fulfilled everything I asked, exactly to my vision. My centerpieces (a complicated combination of submerged flowers with candles) had to be partially put together at the Marriott and Jessica and her staff executed them perfectly. We brought so many boxes of decorations and supplies the day before it looked like we were moving in, but Jessica remembered to set everything out—beautifully--and when my husband picked up our stuff the next day, every last thing had been packed up neatly and in perfect condition by the Marriott staff.
Every staff member we encountered was so kind (and I mean everyone—we even had an amazing bellhop who packed up our entire hurricane of a room the next day because I was literally too exhausted to move). I’d also like to give a special shout-out to our bartender, Sharnette, who concocted the most impressive specialty drinks I’ve ever had the pleasure of tasting (strawberry-lavender vodka, anyone?). The Liberty Ballroom was a stunning backdrop to our festivities with its gorgeous crystal chandeliers and portico overlooking Market Street. The Headhouse Tower Lounge was the perfect setting for an after-party. Overall, I can’t say enough good things about the Marriott. From the moment we hired them to the moment I checked out of the hotel the next day, they were an absolute dream to work with.
The Marriott Downtown was absolutely beautiful. The event planners did an amazing job getting every detail exactly right! They worked with me during the whole planning process and ...
helped me so much. The decor was beautiful, the food was FABULOUS, and the staff were the best.
