My first word is “Wow!” Philip photographed my son and new daughter for their wedding at the end of December in Texas. The wedding was conducted on the courthouse steps with immediate family present. The wedding celebration took place at an indoor/outdoor space under spreading oak trees with a beautiful sun peaking through, leading to a star filled night. Philip was everywhere. He met us at the courthouse and seemed to be there before us at the celebration venue. His style of photography perfectly matched our vision of documenting the event without overtaking the event. He seamlessly captured images of pure joy and love without us even knowing he was there. His instinct seemed to lead him to just the right spot where a special embrace, glance, or serious dance move was happening. The wedding took place at 2:00 pm and the celebration closed down around midnight. Philip was there graciously taking every precious picture, even up to the get away car, that now allows all attending to remember and re-celebrate the occasion. His pictures are pure artistry. He did take the standard photographs of our family as we requested But these photographs were not “standard.” They were finely captured portraits. And because he so quietly documented the wedding, the portraits are fresh and alive. You can see the affection and the energy in the eyes of the ones in the picture. After about six weeks, the files arrived and now I get to try and sort through to determine which ones go in the wedding album. That will take some time because so many are perfection. I could not be happier with Philip’s capture of my son and daughter in law’s wedding.

Philip Thomas was hands down the best photographer we could have asked for to capture our special day. Looking at his portfolio ahead of hiring him, it was clear that his talent is heads and tails above every other photographer we considered, and his work on our wedding day was better than we could have imagined. Philip has an incredibly deft eye, and works in such a way that we forgot that he was even there. Not to mention, he is just incredibly kind, and was both a joy in communicating with ahead of time as well as to have around during such a special moment in our lives. We couldn't recommend Philip enough.

From the get-go Philip was professional, organizing online calls to get to know each other and discuss the day. When it came to the wedding, he not only captured the day beautifully, but he also made the whole experience enjoyable. His photojournalistic style was perfect for us as it allowed us to engage with each other and our guests naturally, especially since we were not the most comfortable in front of a camera. When we did the first look and other more styled shots, his direction was helpful and his demeanor light-hearted allowing us to be ourselves and enjoy our special day. On top of the experience, the photos were stunning! We are over the moon about the finished product and highly recommend Philip for any event.

Let me preface this by saying: I hate posing for photos. Philip deftly took this into account and made getting all the required shots as painless as possible. He also sneakily managed to get countless shots I never would have thought of on my own! On top of that, he was just as good a party guest as he was a photographer. So funny and just overall nice to be around. And his photos were of course gorgeous. I cannot recommend his services enough.

Hiring Philip was, by far, the best decision we made for our wedding. My husband and I had a tight budget and Philip went above and beyond to create a custom package that could meet our needs. Halfway through the planning process, when it became clear we would like Philip to stay longer to capture the whole day, he graciously offered to come in earlier and stay later as well. This was a huge blessing to us and we are forever grateful for this gift. As to his professionalism, Philip was the most professional and seasoned member of our vendor team. He (and his wonderful second shooter) was everywhere, and nowhere, snapping candid moments that I could have sworn I did not see him capture. I am not the best “poser,” but he helped me look like a supermodel in my bridal photos. All you have to do as a client is trust and take his advice – ignore him, and he will take care of the rest. Also, the speed with which he moved through family photos was well-appreciated, and his ability to find the perfect shooting locations on the fly showed how much of an artist he was. He was clear in his client communications and contracts, and he was okay with me changing around picture requests in the week before the wedding. He even helped my little brother with his tie! I really cannot say enough about Philip, but I guess I have to stop somewhere. He truly has a gift and the pictures he captured for us are priceless. Thank you, Philip!

My wife & I were so lucky to have found Philip and to have booked him. Of course, he is professional to the max, extremely thorough, and has an amazing eye for settings and lighting. Phillip was everything you want in a photographer! His portfolio caught our attention for its unique compositions; Phillip describes it as a journalistic approach. We didn't want our photos to appear overly staged, so this was perfect for us. We met with Phillip via Zoom early in our planning and filled out a questionnaire/shooting list closer to the date, so in terms of communication, his studio is a 10/10. The day of the wedding, Phillip and his second shooter did a great job of capturing every moment. The photos turned out beautifully and we can't wait to get them framed!

Philip is a Texas treasure provided to us from across the pond. He came highly recommended from our wedding coordinator and the proof was not only the amazing final photos, but also in his intoxicating personality. We wanted photographs that were of excellent quality and had a journalistic feel. We wanted to capture real moments rather than forced, fake poses. And spoiler alert, he has an accent that all the ladies will swoon when they hear. :) Ok ladies, he is exceptionally skilled at photography, he is handsome and charming, is there anything else you need? Well if there is, he has it. Book with him as soon as you can to lock in your date. He was worth every penny!

I think so often that intense symbolism and deepening of community-building gets lost in the aesthetics, logistics and distractions of putting together a wedding. So often conventional wedding photography reflects that. It typically looks good but rings hollow of meaning. Philip's photography is different. He has a keen eye for capturing what it is that is so momentous about the day: the gathering of your community and the deeply intimate relational moments that occur throughout the day. The product is mesmerizing. Philip's photos were so evocative that they transported us to the exact moments and feelings they each captured. They capture even our most delicate and subtle emotions so authentically. It was also so special seeing photos of moments that would have been impossible for us to have noticed: the whimsy of my two cousins dancing together outside our reception tent and the loving looks of our friends and family as they watched us speak our vows to one another. Philip's approach to weddings is unique and wholly different than all other photographers. After receiving our photos, we can actually go through and pin point moments of our special day, reliving memories and moments that Philip was able to capture. A wedding in two parts, separated by a year, and bridged together by a photographer. We split the wedding into two parts due to the pandemic. Because of this most people were unable to attend the first part. Mr. Thomas is an extremely patient,kind person and a very talented photographer. We agonized over wedding photography since neither of us really enjoy having our pictures taken and dislike the 'stilted' feeling of most wedding photoshoots, until we found the portfolio on his website. Candid photography that felt more genuine, and looked amazing to boot. Mr. Thomas let us change around some of the things in the photography package we ordered to suit our needs better. More specifically, we swapped having a separate bridal portrait session for an engagement photo session instead. However, on the day of the wedding, he was generous enough to take a few pictures of me in my dress, to serve as bridal portraits. The photos from both the engagement session and our wedding ceremony and reception turned out wonderfully, and the candid shots let us re-live those wonderful memories all over again.

Philip will meet and exceed every expectation you could possibly have in communication, professionalism, quality of product, and being a genuinely caring wedding expert along for the ride on your day. The only question you have to ask yourself when considering hiring him, is if you enjoy his style and feel it fits your vision. I personally can't imagine someone not liking his photojournalistic approach, but I know there are a lot of different folks out there. He's unimposing. He's thoughtful and honest about what kind of coverage you will need. His work could very easily be featured in all of the biggest name wedding publications, and I say that with confidence. There are many photographers who charge much more than he does, that provide a lesser product. He is the kind of vendor with whom you can sign the contract, and not worry about a single thing. When things on your day don't go exactly as planned, he knows just how to pivot. I personally paid for my wedding, and every cost was very carefully budgeted. The value of a dollar is not lost on me. His work is truly, genuinely, priceless. I would not hesitate to hire him over and over again (though I'm hoping I don't get married again and require his services). An average photographer can capture all of the big moments, but there's a special kind of magic in having dozens of candid, precious moments from your day that you didn't have the pleasure of seeing, immortalized. Hire him, and enjoy your day, he will do the rest.

Like with so many others, the pandemic created a lot of uncertainty around our wedding. In late summer we decided to postpone our large celebration until next year and hold an intimate family ceremony on our original date. Since our wedding was originally going to take place out of state, we had to find all new vendors for our ceremony this year. We had a very small family ceremony and reception and wanted to make sure that we had a photographer that would make us feel comfortable and relaxed while capturing all of the important moments in a more documentary style. Philip is seriously amazing - neither my husband nor I are great at getting our picture taken, and he was so easy to work with that we were both able to relax for the necessary posed shots, not to mention the incredible candids. We're so happy we were able to work with Philip. He’s personable and fun, but can also melt into the background to do his thing – which is exactly what we wanted. We love his documentary / candid style – our wedding pictures came out wonderfully! We met him in person for the first time at our rehearsal dinner (we’re from Chicago and planned a ‘destination’ wedding in Austin), but he made us feel comfortable almost instantly! We had an Indian wedding, which called for a long day… multiple events, outfit changes, etc – Philip definitely lived up to the challenge! My family has been going on and on about how impressed they were with Philip’s work ethic and ability. They loved that he faded so seamlessly into the background, and in my brothers words, he was “not too demanding!” which he really appreciated as he liked just being able to have fun without thinking about posing for pictures the whole time. And my mom said that going through all pictures makes you feel like you’re there, so it’s easy to re-live the day. We love that you also got so many pictures of the house and the setup as well. Philip was our ideal photographer - he was unobtrusive, but everywhere, and took the most gorgeous photographs. On the day of our wedding, we barely noticed him (which is what we wanted in a photographer). Then when we received the photos, we found that he had gorgeously captured some of the most touching moments from the whole day, including my now-husband dropping off some water while trying not to look at the ladies getting ready; the arrival of our flower girl who had been in the hospital just that morning; and so many other moments we're so happy we're going to be able to look back on for the rest of our lives. Philip's punctuality, personality, and professionalism was pure perfection!!! Philip is so sweet and patient, makes you laugh during sessions so you feel comfortable, and works with you to fit your schedule. He was willing enough to travel to our city just to do our engagement photo session. His work is undeniably talented, as he captures the little moments that bring a photo to life, something you get to hold on to forever. The wedding book he creates is also so elegantly made , its worth that extra penny. Theres one thing for sure, when problems arise during wedding planning, which is inevitable, you can rest assured knowing Philip and his team will capture a beautiful wedding nonetheless. Philip exceeded all my expectations. He went above and beyond to capture the best images of my engagement, bridal, rehersal dinner and wedding day. Our engagement was shot in downtown San Antonio. I loved that he took charge and chose all locations for engagement and bridal. As a bride that can be stressful. He took the time to sit with us and ask us what style of photo shoot we wanted. From there he was able to gather a few places and our engagement shoot was an amazing turnout. He never rushed us, he never posed us, everything was natural. My bridal was beautiful. He captured me, my dress and all the details of it. Philip captures emotions, moments and through his images he tells your love story. Our wedding photos are epic. They left us in aw. Philip is funny, and so much fun to work with. He makes you feel comfortable, truthfully you don't even realize he's shooting you. As a bride, he captured all the photos I could possibly imagine. He's very professional and quickly responds to anything you may need or questions you may have. His second shooter is great as well. He definitely puts together the best team to deliver the best images. Philip is far from typical, traditional, and cliche. I'm beyond pleased with his work, and thankful that we hired him as our wedding photographer.

I can't say enough about Philips work or how he goes about it. Unfortunately he was the second contract we signed for photography. But we soon realized we should of signed with him from the start. The engagement session was worth it's weight in gold to us, the pictures are timeless and will be beautiful even when we are of old age to be able to show our grandchildren. Truthfully don't second guess it, you won't regret going with him. In ever way of photography he captured everything it is that we wanted, his attention to detail and being able to anticipate those moments of pure magic are priceless. Finding an incredible photographer was number one on my wedding priority list; that's how important photography was to me. And Philip blew me away. His photos are gorgeous. Everyone has raved about how perfectly the photos captured the feeling of the day...well technically days, as he also shot our rehearsal dinner with equal style. But on top of the beautiful photos, Philip was a delight to work with and be around. From our first Skype session to our send-off—for which we were clad in dinosaur costumes that fogged up and I couldn't see and Philip literally had to help me up some stairs—he was both professional and fun. He genuinely put me and my husband at ease, all the while capturing some incredible images. Hiring Philip as our wedding photographer was far and away one of the best choices I made for our wedding.

I was beyond pleased with my daughter's and new son-in-law's choice of photographer. Philip Thomas captured their wedding and reception so well that we feel as though we are reliving the day every time we view his photographs. There is so much life in every picture! Both Philip and his second shooter were discrete yet in the middle of everything--how does one manage that? Philip is extremely responsive every time we've had questions. Philip Thomas was amazing to work with. He was the first photographer we met with and instantly we knew he would be the person we would trust with our wedding photos. We loved his candid style, and his fun and accommodating personality. We didn't spend all of our day posing for photos. We did spend about 15 minutes with the wedding party, and about 15 minutes as a couple getting some posed shots, but it was so nice to be able to enjoy the wedding with our guests. Our photos are absolutely beautiful, and so different than any others I've ever seen! He was able to perfectly capture the day. It was worth every penny to have these photos today to look back on our wedding day.

Philip was great. From our engagement session to the bridal shoot and wedding, he always made us feel comfortable. The pictures came out amazing, no complaints on quality or turn around time. The album company he uses is also amazing. The album is so beautiful. Probably the nicest wedding album I've ever seen. My one and only complaint is really my own fault anyway, so it's more of a suggestion to future brides. I really wasn't too picky with wanting specific photos of specific people, so I didn't make a list of photos I wanted. I now regret that. Not that I wanted more posed photos, but they focused almost the entire night on photographing the bride and groom. Which is nice, and there were lots of great pictures, BUT....a whole bunch of our guests are not in a single photo. Which makes me a bit sad. I'd have liked more photos of guests to be taken. We also had the most amazing catering served family style, and there are no pictures of the spread. We also had homeslice pizza delivered for a late night snack and there were no pictures of that. So, even if you don't want specific people in pictures, make sure you let the photographer know what is important to you to have captured.

Philip was beyond incredible to work with. From his arrival he made us feel at ease and is a wonderful professional and person. It is immediately apparent he not only has a passion for his career, but is also truly skilled at what he does. The vision he was able to create and document on our wedding day is exactly what we were looking for. If you are looking for the most genuine, raw taking photographer Philip is your guy. My husband and I searched for over a year till we came across his website. As soon as I started to tear up my husband knew this was the photographer for us. On our wedding day everyone feel in love with his passion behind the camera. We knew the pictures were going to be amazing but we didn't expect what he captured. The pictures are the most beautiful moments I have ever seen, and I'm not just saying that because I'm the bride:). It was the best day of our lives and we had the perfect person to capture those special moments. He is not your typical stand here stand there photographer. You don't even see him, and I promise you it was the best decision we made for the rest of our lives.

We had the pleasure of working with Philip and his partner Adam for our recent wedding in November and it was an absolute wonderful experience. We were referred to three other photographers by our wedding planner but the feeling was not there when we saw their sample work online and I am very happy that we found Phillip after looking through wedding websites and his pictures. That was the best decision we made. Philip was very professional and have such a unique style. He went above and beyond for his client. All his pictures turned out very stunning and he captured the moment when you least expect. I was a bit skeptical to take a chance with Philip since he wasn't on the top three people referred to us but I am very happy that I took that chance. Photography was one of the most important decisions during my planning process. My husband and I are both very adverse to traditional, posed, stuffy wedding photos. We wanted to make sure that we captured the day with an eye for the artistic, as well as a candid look at the day itself. I have to say that the photographs turned out even more stunning than I could have imagined. I absolutely loved his use of geometry, black and white, framing, and most importantly - capturing my friends and family in their natural loveliness. This was one of the more expensive choices I made during the planning process, but I believe it was absolutely worth EVERY penny. Not to mention, Philip was a great person to have nearby. He blended seamlessly with my friends and family, was quirky, funny and a pleasure to be around. I would absolutely request his services for other Texas events and I highly recommend him to others who are looking for more art and elegance in their wedding photos. Additionally, he came to Houston from San Antonio without any additional charges, he spent the entire day with us, without any timing limitations. He even offered to join us the night before at the rehearsal dinner. Such a great experience!

When my wife looked into all the photographers available in the San Antonio area she was so excited to tell me about discovering Philip Thomas and his work. I have a keen interest in photography and was very concerned about an investment into "professional" photos a family friend with a nice camera could have taken. Many people can take nice photos. I'm picky about what I consider "fine art" photography compared to typical "snap-shots". After looking at all his personal work on his website, I was excited to see what Philip would capture on our wedding day. His amazing ability to capture the "decisive moment" sets him apart.
