Phoenix Bakery is amazing. Cakes were delicious. Youlen was amazing in his arrangement and punctuality. My Wife and I went down there for 1 visit, picked our cake and everything else was taken care of. Peace of mind is absolutely vital when wedding planning. Pricing was very reasonable as well.
We went with their strawberry and custard filled wedding cake. Their cake itself is so delicious and the icing is just right. Downtown LA's Chinatown may not be the first place you think of for finding your wedding cake but you must check out Phoenix Bakery if you want a no fuss, no frills just plain good old fashioned wedding cake.
good vendor
My mother-in-law had to have a Phoenix Bakery cake after having one at a party. The cake turned out really pretty but I was disappointed with the lack of flavors. I felt like we didn't have much to choose from and I ended up being unimpressed with the taste of the one we chose. But other people liked it and I only had the piece shoved in my mouth by my husband; ) So it all worked out.
I love the strawberry cake that is an original from this place and knew this was the perfect choice for my daytime wedding. Easy breeze in terms of sitting down and picking out what style of cake I wanted. I didn't have to even worry about a thing, cake was delivered on time and looked perfect! And cake was deliciously fresh.
;I wouldn't go with them if you want something fancy. we had a really simple cake, but it tasted pretty good.
Phoenix Bakery has been around since 1938 and is one of the best bakeries in Los Angeles County. I searched all over town for a reasonably priced wedding cake and a bakery that did not cover a cake in fondant. (sorry I hate the stuff) Phoenix bakery was the only place that refused to use fondant and they have the best prices in town. We came in for a tasting and picked a marble cake with chocolate mousse filling and butter cream frosting. The staff are very laid back but professional and open to any ideas the bride and groom may have they also know what questions to ask. If they hadn't asked me to bring in my cake topper we never would have known that we needed to add a base to it so it wouldn't fall over. Their cake book is full of not only wedding cakes but all kinds of celebratory cakes and you can pick the design of your choice or they will help you come up with a look totally your own. We found a cake they had made that incorporated elegant scroll work and paw prints. We knew at once that our cake had to have that too. (the first conversation we ever had was about our mutual respect and fondness for wolves). We also saw a cake that had the initials of the bride and groom on it with scroll work and we liked that too sot he baker got a icing bag and on a piece of cardboard showed us how they could incorporate the two designs into one. The cake was heavenly. And it was one of the most beautiful accents to our wedding. Phoenix Bakery is the best, I only order
We went with Phoenix Bakery because they're a Chinese bakery that bakes simple cakes--not too sweet--for an extremely reasonable rate. Simple styled stack cake. Very easy to do.;Phoenix has limited flavors for their wedding cakes, but we didn't care too much because we wanted the Vanilla/ Strawberry combination to begin with.
