About this vendor
Hi there! I'm Joseph Yetman. Professionals and friends alike call me YETI. Depth, authenticity, and inclusion are the single most important aspects of my work that I focus on. I've been photographing primarily weddings and portraits the last 14 years, but my art has taken a step into the boudoir world as of late. My life partner, Vanessa, has locked arms with me in this venture to create a safe space where all walks of life can feel welcome. Equally as important, they can discover that a photo session can be a catalyst for healing and acceptance too. At my base, I love people. I thrive when I'm connected to my community. I'm also a little crazy and perhaps a smidge direct, I like words to have power. I spend about 35-40 weekends a year eating wedding cake and photographing bubbly couples. I'd like to say it's my passion for capturing life's moments that gets me out of bed in the morning, but my friends know better, it's the cake. In fact, I've traveled quite far to partake in delectable desserts, even beyond our nation's borders. I've shot weddings in Slovenia and Hungary, as well as the Captiva Islands here stateside. Visited Grenada, Germany, Austria, and Bavaria. I've shot about 400 weddings the last 14 years and my work has been circulated through thousands of homes across 40+ countries. Nuptials aside, I spend a good chunk of my time photographing families, high school seniors, and people's furry friends. I capture concerts and events for various organizations such as Cities97 and KDWB under the iHeartRadio banner. I also provide commercial photography for small to medium sized businesses, including nonprofits and community groups. I'm also a newly minted member of the Twin Cities Professional Photography Association.
The project I'm most known for is called The Isaac Initiative. I founded it back in 2015 after I received a request to photograph a 7yr old boy named Isaac, who happened to be in children's hospice care. I photographed him and his family reading stories to one another and participating in music therapy. It is still one of the most beautiful and defining moments of my life, but also so sad. He passed away about 12 hours after our photo session and it had a profound impact me. It still continues to. It changed the way I capture weddings and how I treat people. Do I still provide end of life sessions for children and adults? Most often times, yes. Isaac's memory is alive and well, but that organization was dissolved in 2021 for personal mental health reasons. Feel free to send me an email and fill me in on your situation. I promise to do all that I can.
Whether you're a client or a fellow photog, I am always interested in making new connections. Feel free to contact me with any photographic inquiries, general questions, hopes, fears, dreams, etc. If you have invited me into your home or office to take pictures, you have invited me into your lives; that is much appreciated. With that, I bid you adieu. –YETI

I was referred to Yeti by one of my girlfriends from work. To preface this, my family is so stuffy and controlling. I’d been engaged for a while and avoiding the planning because I knew that if I did what I wanted, it would upset my parents greatly. If we did what they wanted, then there’s no way I was going to be happy. I was excited to be with my finance for the rest of my life, but not excited for the wedding. As we booked the venue and got down to the details, Yeti was cool with meeting my mum and chatting over some scenarios. My mum got anxious and then I got anxious and Yeti pulled this really heartfelt and profanity laced talk out of nowhere. It was a risk. Lol I thought it could be over and my mum would refuse to work with him, but she cried big happy tears and gave him a hug. I 100% believe that conversation was the only reason my mum let go and was able to enjoy the wedding day when it arrived. In short, Yeti was the best. He made us all shine. I’m no professional, but I could tell he knew what he was doing. He worked so great with the rest of the vendors too. He knew when you speak up and be direct about what he needed for photos, but also open to some of our silly ideas. I think we got our photos back 3 weeks later, 4 at the most. The online gallery is easy to share with everybody too. The only bad thing I could say is I hired him for 7 hours and I should have done 8, but that was on me. He stuck around and got our dances. We tossed him an extra tip as he was packing up. The kids loved him, everybody did. We felt good about supporting his business, we wouldn’t change anything.
Yeti is so damn funny! He’s professional, organized, but laid back. My whole family loved him, he kept us laughing the whole day. I do not think it would have been as successful or as fun without him. Our cake never showed up and he snuck away during dinner and brought back an ice cream cake with our name on it as a surprise. It was really nice! Our own family didn’t do that. lol He’s also a very good communicator and mediator, my family is a lot to handle and he did it with ease. He sent us a sneak peek a day or two after our wedding and the rest we got back 3 weeks later, right when we got back from our honeymoon. I’m not in a hurry to have babies, but I know I wanna hire Yeti to take photos of them.
Very poor communication skills. Got married in October and still don’t have wedding photos or even a sneak peek as of today. Sent multiple follow ups with no response and photographer missed every deadline he set. At this point, I’m not sure what to do other than call him every day until he responds.
He was a really fun, goofy guy. He really worked with us to capture our day, and make it fun and special. We really enjoyed working with him!
Yeti was unbelievable!! He captured moments that we were not even aware that happened. He fit in perfectly with our wedding party and our guests. The pictures turned out so beautiful and we are in love with them. It has been 10 weeks and I still have friends talking about how great "the photographer" was. I would recommend Yeti to everyone.
Joseph Yetman is the epitome of a fantastic photographer. He's kind, professional, easy going, and an all around great guy. We booked Yetty for both our engagement photos and our wedding. For our engagement photos, he took all of our ideas into account and made them come to life. We originally were planning to just do our pictures at Tamarack Nature Center, but he had the idea to change the setting and we ended up doing more shots in downtown White Bear. Those shots are some of our favorites, and without Joe's suggestion we wouldn't have had them.
Now to the wedding day. Joe agreed to come earlier than planned and then stayed late that day to make sure we got sunset pictures!! Seriously guys, what other photographer would go above and beyond the call of duty to make sure you get all the shots you ever wanted?!
Working with Joe was seriously the greatest decision we made in all of our wedding planning process. He made us laugh and celebrated with us in our joy. Our family and friends raved about our awesome photographer! The pictures he took are better than we could have ever imagined.
So if you are looking for a photographer with a heart of gold that will make your wedding day truly something to remember and brag about, look no further. Joe is your guy!
I grew up with Joe and when I decided on my venue I knew immediately I would hire him for photography. Not only is he a wonderful photographer, but a wonderful, funny person to work with. Smiling gets old very quick on your wedding day. Joe was able to make me laugh genuinely - which helped hold my smile all day. He stayed past his contracted time to make sure we were happy with the photos he and his partner had taken. Hire this man!
To anyone looking for professional photos for ANY occasion I strongly recommend taking a look at Yetty's work! He does an amazing job and handled my wedding day fabulously as I had absolutely nothing planned for him. His pricing is great and he will make sure to get you laughing for all your millions of photos! I would highly recommend him and absolutely LOVE my wedding pictures! Thanks again!
Joseph’s work is absolutely INCREDIBLE! He is the very definition of professional, and is equally as talented and dedicated to his craft. We are planning on scheduling family pictures with him soon, and will use him for all of our professional photography needs in the future. Great guy, and outstanding work!
We enjoyed working with Joseph Yetman for our wedding. Joe is a talented photographer who can capture precious moments and get a crowd to laugh. We wanted him to help us create memories at our wedding; he captured many great candids and posed pictures that we will always treasure. Everybody loved his energetic personality, humor, and ability to put people at ease. If we had to choose a photographer again, I would still choose Joseph Yetman.
Through the entire experience, from planning to the actual day to after the wedding, Joseph did a wonderful job. Attention to detail and our personal style were his priorities. He was very flexible with our needs and requests. Overall, the experience was wonderful and we appreciate all the hard work he did!
Joe was our photographer at our wedding in September and we couldn't have asked for a more amazing photographer! Not only was he professional, he was so personable, not to mention how well he takes photographs! I was stopped multiple times by guests both at our wedding and in the weeks after that they all loved him! We are blown away by the quality of the workmanship and the pictures that our families will look at for years to come! Thank you Joe!
Our wedding photographs were absolutely beautiful (I think my jaw literally dropped when I saw them). It was a freezing 15 degrees outside, but Joseph still somehow got everyone laughing! The whole experience was really fun. The simple movements of the day were perfectly captured, and we will cherish our pictures for years.
Joey was truly one of the best things about my wedding. He wasn't just a photographer... he became part of my family that night. The way he connected with everyone there; yet capturing the big day was truly a gift I can't ever repay. You can truly tell through his work that he takes pride in his work. Which brings me to my next point...
The comment from emilee is completely rediculious. 1st let me tell you that she is a old childhood friend and i recommended him. The pictures can't be that bad if she has the audacity to plaster them on her Facebook; after She had her mommy call and get half her money back. just a simple example of someone trying to scam the system to get there money back. Sometimes it's not the person behind the camera that makes ugly pictures... it's the coniving people in them.
Joey, I will continue to support your photography and support your projects like the Isaac initiative. For those who don't know what this is, its a project he started where he provides NO COST family pictures for parents that has a child with a terminal illness. I promise you if you decide to go with Joey you will not only get great pictures back, but you will gain a friend for life.
Did not have a good experience with this photographer. I have not one picture of our entire wedding party that isn't crooked. Not one picture of our wedding party was edited. Pictures were grainy and had lines across them. Photographer also lost some of my important pictures and didn't get a picture of our first kiss. To this day it still kills me to think that I have no pictures of my wedding party.
Joe is so fun to work with. He's a very outgoing person who interacts with your guests. Which we loved. He has no problem taking initiative on his own and is willing to do anything to get the pictures he's envisioning. I'm looking forward to getting our pictures :)
