but none come anywhere close to The Phunky Monkeys. We have gotten dozens of texts from guests asking, "WHO WAS THAT BAND??" The amount of genres and songs that they covered was unreal, and their setlist was perfectly put together. From Otis Redding, to the B52s, to Big & Rich, to Juvenile, and even Mannie Fresh... there was something for everybody. The dance floor was full all night! Their chemistry as a band, and their energy, was contagious. We cannot emphasize enough how talented these musicians are. Nearly all 12 people sang (which brought great variety) and their soloing was jaw dropping (sax, trombone, trumpet, guitar, keys, fiddle... the list is endless). Lots of wedding bands shove their horn section way in the back, but in true New Orleans style, the Phunky Monkeys have them right up front. Our guests were blown away by their talent. My dad said, "How were they able to incorporate a tuba into that song and it just fit so perfectly?!?" Finally, their sound was so clear and crisp (something that a lot of bands of this size can struggle with). The Phunky Monkeys are true professionals and unbelievable musicians/performers. Mike - we cannot thank you and your entire team enough for making this night so memorable. We will never forget it and can only hope that we are fortunate enough to see you all perform again soon! I recommend them with my entire being, and if you make a single decision for your wedding/event, make that decision hiring the Phunky Monkeys, and everything else will fall into place. — It’s been 3 weeks since the Phunky Monkeys played our wedding and blew the doors off the place, and people are still texting me on a near daily basis about how incredible they are. I personally still can’t find the words to express how phenomenal they were from the first note they played to the last. I am in awe of every single one of these musicians and can't fathom how they are all in the same group. My favorite weddings are the ones where I never left the dance floor. They are the ones where I leave on a high that could only be delivered by a great band - a euphoria that cannot be manufactured but must happen organically. We made it our mission to give people that experience, so we would do anything we could to get the best possible band for our wedding, and we found that in the Phunky Monkeys. For two months, my non working hours were spent watching everything I could find on YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, wedding websites, and band websites. I read every single review of every band that I could. I created a detailed spreadsheet ranking every signal that I could find, and I kept coming back to the Phunky Monkeys. It turns out that, while this work made me more confident in my choice, it probably wasn't necessary, as every time I asked a vendor who their favorite band was, they told us the Phunky Monkeys. I probably should have just taken them at their word. When I say that they blew my expectations out of the water, I am embarrassed as to how much I am understating just how much they overdelivered even my wildest dreams. For their first three songs, they played You Can Call Me Al, where they had a conga line going through our entire venue on the first song (how?!?!?!?), Shout, and Proud Mary, and I started to get worried. How were we supposed to keep that energy up for the rest of the night? Somehow, though, the rest of the night got better and better as they tore through song after song that kept the dance floor completely packed. I don't think people really ate at our wedding, and I'm not even sure how much people drank. We had 210 people, and not a single one of them wanted to step off dance floor. I have truly never seen anything like it, and guest after guest has approached us to tell us that our wedding was one of the best nights of their lives, and that was because of Mike Taylor and this group. I truly think our wedding could have been a picnic with solo cups, and, if we had them playing, people would still say our wedding was one of their favorite of all time. I'm not being hyperbolic - I want everyone to know how incredible they are because they created the best memory I'll ever have by being so tuned into what we wanted and bringing the energy and musicianship to make it happen. We were so lucky to have them, and I promise with all of my heart that if you hire them, you will be so happy that you did. To the Phunky Monkeys, we love you and can't wait to get back down to New Orleans and see you play. You are truly the best band I could ever imagine, and the world is more magical with you in it.

cond line and reception. These are musicians--horns, saxophones, and even a TUBA! The singers are fantastic--from sounding exactly like Louis Armstrong to belting out Beyonce and Whitney! You could almost believe that Sam Cooke, Jon Batiste and Bruno Mars were on stage. Their energy was contagious. Yes, they are that good! Even the sound and the acoustics were perfect. People still cannot stop talking about this band 2 weeks later. No one wanted to leave the dance floor. My daughter's wedding was at Brennan's and the food was exceptional. However, we could have served Lucky Dogs, and it would not have mattered because the band was so great, so New Orleans! Hire them.

Hands down!!! The music, the visuals, the horns, the confetti machine…!!! I could go on and on!!!!!! So many people remarked that y’all are the BEST band they’ve ever heard at a wedding reception. The Phunky Monkeys aren’t one of your “common” cover bands. They make each song sensational and WITHOUT any sour notes. The talent on that stage is astounding! musicians/singers are incredibly talented and play different instruments beautifully or sing various genre... plus, they throw in choreographed moves from all three of the girls... and you get total professionalism! Over and over, our guest are heard saying compliments about the band on the videos. They were a total crowd pleaser and loved including the bridal party on stage with them for several favorite songs making my daughter’s wedding really fun and personal for their friends. Besides being extremely easy to work with all year, Mike saved the show for me when our fireworks guy bailed on me for a bigger gig only two weeks beforehand, and Mike quickly ordered indoor fireworks for the stage to pull off a fabulous New Years Eve show which had been planned for months. Everyone who attended the wedding has raved to me about this band, so I would be remiss to not give them credit for keeping a packed dance floor inside AND out on the patio for over five hours. They aren’t cheap, but worth every penny!! Thanks, Phunky Monkeys. You are the Best Band in town.🥂

Bringing both vocals and instrumental prowess to the table. They are high energy. They feed off of the crowds energy. And they even helped create so many of the most iconic moments for us. 1) Pyrotechnics - check 2) Giving me (the bride) a chance for an impromptu onstage dance performance - check 3) Keeping us raging during our balloon drop - check! I mean you cannot go wrong with the Phunky Monkeys. They are out of this world good! You will have folks singing your praises if you pick this band for your event. 11 band members + 3 tech = DOING THE MOST!!!! Book them stat!

etter than we could have imagined. I cannot explain how many compliments we got from guests who absolutely loved them. We requested mostly modern, pop music and they did an incredible job of keeping the dance floor full all night! All generations enjoyed the music and they had clearly thought through the song list in a very smart way. The performers were high energy all night and looked like they were having as much fun as us. I also can't forget to mention the level of TALENT within this group - the singers and musicians were so good there were moments where people were in total awe. We also booked 3 instruments for the ceremony and a small group for the cocktail hour which were also incredible. Having live music all night definitely made our wedding feel very special. Our wedding was at Il Mercato and we did not book a stage which I think was the right call. The band was able to engage with the guests and come on the dance floor which was super fun! You will not regret having the Phunky Monkeys play your wedding!

The booking process was so easy, Michael was always so quick to respond to me & answered my many many questions. Once we solidified the booking I was SO excited!! When Michael sent me their song list to narrow down I was even more excited! The song list is insane, I do not think there is a song they don't know! Fast forward to the reception & I was BLOWN AWAY. I saw first hand what the hype was all about and they came to PLAY! Guests were commenting on how amazing the band was before the party even picked up (which didn't take long!). The Phunky Monkeys had guests consistently on the dance floor all night long, my groom & I never even left the dance floor! It was evident to everyone that each & every band member LOVES what they do, they were just as happy to be there as we were to have them there & it showed! They set the vibe for the night & everyone had an amazing time! For a perfect ending to an amazing night, everything was wrapped up with a New Orleans style 2nd line, complete with brass instruments! The "Phunky Monkeys" transformed into the "Brass Monkeys" & led a 2nd line around the reception venue, every guest was in tow having the time of their lives! They then led our walkout & the party didn't stop until the last possible second. My husband & I already wanting to plan an anniversary party just so we can hire the Phunky Monkeys again! I highly recommend the Phunky Monkeys for any event!! They made our wedding so fun & special!

They also were our second line band after the reception and killed it. Our guests were blown away. Michael organized everything for the second line and it was absolutely perfect. If you book the Phunky Monkeys you really don't need to worry much about what food you serve or what your flowers look like- they will keep you and your guests so engaged and entertained! If the dance floor is a priority for your event- please book them! I wish we could re-live this night- as do all of our guests!

My uncle is a talent agent (in the music industry) and he watched them meticulously. He said they're the best band he's seen in his almost 50-year career. Schedule your wedding around their availability.

When I called mike to ask if the medley was possible, I figured it might be a long shot, but he immediately told me it would be no problem at all. Mike and his crew are super easy to work with and were very quick to respond to emails when I had questions. They were very interactive! They have the BEST song list! THEY ARE THE BEST BAND I’ve ever seen at a wedding! Our dance floor was full the ENTIRE night. We did not want it to end! To add to that, they are friendly, easy to work with, and accommodating. They played a special song for our first dance that I wasn’t so sure how well it would sound (some bands are hard to cover), and it was perfect! It was very important to me to have a good band, and the Phunky Monkeys aren’t just good, they are fantastic. My family wants to take a trip back to NOLA just to see them play again. Even Uber drivers were telling our guests they were on their way to see one of the best wedding bands in NOLA. That set the bar high, but the band exceeded everyone’s expectations. I strongly recommend hiring the Phunky Monkeys for a wedding/event. Don’t even look at anyone else. This is your band!

and these guys MADE the night! Not only do they know how work the instruments but they are some fabulous dancers and amazing singers. I swear at times we thought Whitney Houston was the one up there. They kept the crowd going the entire night. I don't even remember leaving the dance floor because they played one great song after the other! They are so fun and so talented I would highly recommend them to anyone!!
