I met with Mark Schilling, who runs both Picture Perfect Photography and All Around DJs, more than a year before my wedding, and hired his company to provide DJ services at my wedding. He is definitely all talk. We met in his home, which was sketchy enough, but for some reason I was persuaded by his talk, even though everything that I experienced from that point on should have sent me running in the other direction.
He tried to tell me that we didn't pay on the contract, even though he had already sent me a receipt. I had to re-send it to him to prove to him that we had, in fact, paid our balance.
For the entire month prior to my wedding, he was on "vacation" (what vendor goes on vacation during high wedding season? Ones who can't get work!) and didn't respond to my emails except to say that he didn't have my paperwork with him. By the time he got back, he had handed my wedding to "one of his best" DJs, Roy.
Roy was uncooperative and unprofessional. He's an overweight, middle-aged lazy guy who pretty much just sat on his butt and played crappy music until one of my bridesmaids took over the song selection. When he introduced us, he asked my husband's name, the names of the people in my bridal party, and what the timeline of the evening was. Clearly, he didn't have any of his paperwork with him! No preparation at all. I couldn't believe he didn't have this information prior to showing up.
I was promised all sorts of things--an anniversary dance, and something called the huggie bear--none of which actually took place. If Roy had his way, he would have played Patsy Cline all night. Not the best wedding music! He also didn't announce anything, try to get people on the dance floor, or provide any master of ceremonies services at all. My mother missed the bouquet toss and the garter removal because he just didn't announce it.
In the flier Mark Schilling provided me, he promised professional service, coordination with the venue, and master of ceremonies services. I didn't receive any of that. Roy DID show up and played music, but I think I would have been happier had I just picked all the songs myself and hooked my iPod up to a set of speakers.
Furthermore, I overpaid them by an hour, and Mr. Schilling won't respond to my emails to get it back.
Don't make the same mistake I did. I've seen enough bad reviews on this guy to really want to warn all the other brides out there!
The pictures came out beautifully!! Everyone is still talking about how they've never seen the pictures up on TVs from the wedding party and viewing live pictures.
We got a great deal, and the pictures turned out amazing! Since we got such a great deal, we didn't get much photo editing, but it wasn't really needed since the pictures were so great.
I used Mark Schillings for my wedding in May 2011. I spent 4,000 plus dollars & it was the biggest mistake of my wedding. I booked with Picture perfect photography owned and operated by Mark Schellings a year in advance. He was 15 mins late getting to my wedding he brought TV's and placed them in the reception location that were showing photos from the actual wedding and that he was taking minute by minute. I did not asked for these TV's or this service however after the wedding was over he tried to bill me for this service. He also claimed that he stayed 30 mins latter the he did. We paid him in full prior to the wedding so that we would owe him any thing...but he still tried to nickel and dime us to death. He also showed up with what he called and "assistant" she knew nothing. When i meet with him in his home//BIG MISTAKE don’t meet with any one in their home!! He promised 3 photographers, him his wife & an assistant. I just got him & an assistant. He also showed up looking less then professional. He did not wear a tie, much less a suit. Mark is all talk. He has a really nice web site. However his shots are all the same. I am not sure what he did during my reception but I have no real photos from that part of the wedding however I was paying him very good money. We did use his DJ. Who was very good. Could have gotten someone else just as good for half the cost however I was trying to do one stop shopping. Mark Schellings is a very good sales man. He will try and talk you into his services however they are less then par. DO NOT USE THIS PHOTOGRAHER. In that area of VA you can find much better photographers to work with. Best of luck planning your wedding!
Dan Davidson and Michelle Yopp are the most creative photographers I have ever met. I really like the nontraditional photojournalistic style and they were perfect. Everyone is amazed by our wedding photos!
